How Can I Forget You?
Follow my sideblog @bucks-babesideblog for updates on when I post
Pairing: Bucky x reader x Steve, Stucky x reader, Stucky
Summary: I literally don’t know how to summarize this. 40’s Bucky and Steve go to war, then you know what happens to them, Ladybird is left in the 40’s. Steve and Bucky are in the future. Will they get their Ladybird back?
Warnings: Angst (a lot of it), fluff, poly relationship, pre serum Steve, 40’s Bucky and Steve, 21st century!Bucky and Steve, some gay sex because it was getting too sad (anal fingering, anal, grinding naked), Peggy was never with Steve, implied suicide by alcohol, death of the reader in the 40’s, pet names (darling, ladybird, dumpling), crying, Jewish!Bucky, nostalgia, time jumps, happy ending because who do you think I am, I am not paying for anyone's therapy just so you know
Word Count: 3.2k
A/N: There is no mention of the reader's body type nor race. Part of this fic does take place in the 40's, but I wanted to have a blank reader so that readers from any race can imagine themselves as Ladybird. There is no mention of period related homophobia because this shit was already too damn sad. If I missed any warnings, please let me know becuase I know that this fic is angsty and I want to make sure that everyone knows what they are getting into. Thanks to @buckys-wintersoldier for sacrificing her mental health for this fic 🤘
“Stevie, have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?” Steve blushes and hides his face in Bucky’s chest, breathing in his woodsy scent. “Don’t hide from me, punk, can’t see those pretty eyes anymore.” Running his fingers through Steve’s soft hair and trailing his hand down to the back of the smaller man’s neck, he gently brings his head back up, appreciating the soft, pink glow on his lover’s cheeks.
“Buck,” Steve trails off, not able to form a complete sentence when Bucky is looking at him like this - like he is gorgeous and not scrawny or undesirable. He doesn’t fight when Bucky brings their lips together, moaning at the taste of Bucky’s last cigarette. His eyes flutter as they pull away, both of their pupils blown, lips swollen and cheeks red. “You know, smoking is bad for you.”
Bucky grabs Steve and lays down on the couch, Steve resting between his legs. “I’m going to live until I’m 100, Stevie, smoking or not. You, my dear, are the one we need to worry about.”
“Like hell, you’re going to live that long with those habits. I’m healthy, it’s the doctors that keep telling me I’m not fit to join the army.” Bucky sighs. No matter how much he tries to stop Steve from enlisting, it never works. Not even their Ladybird can convince him.
“Stevie, please. I don’t want to hear anymore talk about this. Not today.” It’s their Ladybird that speaks, voice thick with emotion, yet stern. Neither of her boys would disobey her. She sets the tray with their sandwiches down and quickly leaves the room, palms frantically trying to smooth her dress down, pressing wrinkles that don’t exist.
Today was the day that Bucky had to leave. He didn’t enlist, not when his Ladybird wanted him at home, safe with her and Steve. She was terrified that he wouldn’t come home, leaving her and Steve behind.
But Steve was more stubborn than his man, not accepting staying at home when the men of his country are risking their lives. He needed to protect his country. “Stay here, dumpling.” Leaving a kiss on his forehead, Bucky follows Ladybird into the kitchen.
Two strong arms wrap around her waist and the tears she was desperate to hold in, cascade down her cheeks, ruining the makeup she spent so much time on. She was trying to be strong for him, support him before sending him off, but it was too much. Knowing that he could be killed at any moment, and these could be her final memories of him, was too overwhelming.
“I know, Ladybird, I know. I promise you that I’ll come home, okay? I can’t leave my best girl and guy alone.” She turns in his arms and his calloused palms rest on her cheeks, thumbs wiping away the stream of mascara running down her face.
“Steve, he, he can’t enlist, Buck. He just can’t. How am I supposed to stay here knowing that the loves of my life are out there, getting shot at, bombs going off, huh?” Steve sneaks in, snaking his arms around her waist.
“For you, Ladybird, I won’t. I’ll wait here with you, send Bucky letters, keep you safe, okay?” She knew it was a lie; Steve could never lie, but she chose to believe him in that moment. Maybe for her own sanity, or maybe just to savor the last moments she would ever get to spend with her men.
She was Bucky off, waving to him when he boarded the train, but when Steve left the house for errands she knew where he was going - she never saw him again, but she knew it was for his love for her and Bucky. She didn’t blame him.
***
When Steve woke up from the ice, the first thing he did was see if his Ladybird was still alive. From the moment he got the serum, he regretted lying to her. He knew when he looked in her eyes, she knew what he was going to do; she accepted his choice. It was who he was and she wouldn’t dream of him being anything else.
He cried that night, when Fury gave him the documents he so graciously printed from Google. Ladybird died only a few years after he went on ice. She never moved on. They said it was a broken heart, but the 40’s would never report a woman drinking herself to death, wallowing in the sorrow of lost love.
It was his fault. Maybe she could have healed from the loss of Bucky if he was there. It would never take away the pain, but she would have one of them, but he left her behind. He would visit her grave daily; her body six feet below him, wearing the dog tags of her lovers.
The pain was eased when he found Bucky. They had each other. Even when he couldn’t remember much, Bucky remembered his Ladybird. Steve wishes he could forget the day he had to tell the man he loved that their girl was dead.
“I still want to be with you, Steve.” It took a while before Bucky was stable enough to choose to love again, but it was never a hard decision. The love for Steve too much to ignore.
Their first time was much different from the 40’s. They both changed so much - Steve more so than Bucky. They couldn’t get each other naked fast enough, kisses and loving touches scattered throughout.
Bucky didn’t feel embarrassed by his arm, not when Steve’s eyes were filled with so much love and lust. Bucky had to look away, his eyes landing on his boyfriend’s cock. “Oh my god, Steve!” He didn’t mean to gawk but he couldn’t help it. Steve went from slightly below average to very much above it. Long and thick, veins pulsing through his cock, supplying enough blood to keep his large erection up.
“What? Oh.” Steve’s signature blush crept up his cheeks just like it used to. Even though his body changed so dramatically, he was still the same boy from Brooklyn Bucky fell in love with. “You’re bigger too, Buck.” Steve shied away from Bucky’s gaze, worried about how Bucky’s cock was going to fit inside of him.
“It hasn’t changed that much, dumpling.” It was almost true. Bucky was always above average - maybe seven inches. He was always thick, but now? His cock looked like it doubled in thickness, and around an inch added to his length.
“Yeah, right.” Bucky beamed at Steve as he became more comfortable under Bucky’s gaze.
“Well, how about we compare sizes then?” They both groan at the first contact in years, dicks pressed against each other. “Won’t you look at that, you’re bigger than me, dumpling.” Steve’s face scrunched in confusion, trying to focus through the haze of pleasure. There was no way that he was bigger than Bucky.
Nonetheless, Steve looks down, almost cumming at the sight of his lover’s cock leaking onto his. His eyes widened; he was bigger than Bucky. It was only by an inch, even with the serum thickening his cock, Bucky was still much thicker. “Good boy, see how pretty your cock is? Fuck, missed you so much.”
Bucky groans in between words as he grinds against Steve, cock pushed harder against his. Steve’s hands find the sides of Bucky’s face, pulling him down in a heated kiss while ropes of his cum shoot out onto both of their stomachs and chests. Bucky follows right after, not able to handle the pleasure the simple grind of their hips brings him as they both share their first orgasm since the 40’s.
He collapses on Steve’s chest while they both catch their breath. “Darling, I need your cock in me. Need to feel how you stretch me out.” Bucky’s cock instantly hardens.
“Fuck, dumpling, we don’t have lube.” Even in his lust filled state, Bucky knows that going any further would hurt.
“Don’t need it. Look at all our cum.” Bucky looks down and whimpers. The serum really did a number on them. His first orgasm in 80 years was a lot. The mixture of their cum was dripping down Steve’s sides and leaking down Bucky’s chest. He quickly dips down to get a mouthful of their cum, moaning as he shares it with Steve. “You taste just as good as I remember, Buck.”
Bucky scoops a generous amount onto two of his fingers while Steve eagerly spreads his legs, presenting his tight hole to his partner. At this moment, it’s just the two of them. The pain of their Ladybird is gone, if only momentarily.
The moan that leaves Steve’s lips as Bucky’s first finger breeches his hole is almost enough to have him cumming untouched. He doesn’t know how long he stretches Steve out for, but it was enough time to have Steve cumming on his chest again, giving Bucky more lube to use.
“Ready, dumpling? Ready for your sergeant’s cock?” Steve only moans, frantically nodding his head. No one would have thought that the tough captain was so submissive in bed. Bucky strokes his cock with Steve’s spend a few times before lining up with his stretched out hole.
He meets little resistance as his tip slips in. “Fuck, Steve. Think you’re even fucking tighter.” He has to close his eyes, balls pulsing and pulling up already. Steve’s tight ass ready to suck all of his cum out.
“Uh, uh, just bigger. So much bigger.” Steve’s mind was empty, only wanting his ass full. He cries when Bucky hikes his legs up, wanting to be as close as possible. “Wait, please.” Bucky immediately eases his cock out, knowing that he’s a lot bigger to take now. After a few minutes, Steve’s breath evens out and his eyes lock with Bucky’s, nodding at his lover.
As gently as he can, Bucky slides back inside his ass, slowly feeding Steve inch after inch. “How full are you, Stevie?” It wasn’t smug; Bucky needed to know that Steve was okay. Leaning down, Bucky presses his forehead against Steve’s, staring into his eyes. Tears fall from both of their eyes, connected so intimately again.
“So full, Buck.” He leans up to capture Bucky’s lips in a kiss, neither able to think straight, let alone kiss properly.
“I love you so fucking much, dumpling.” Steve cries out, hips jerking in an attempt to take more of his sergeant’s dick. As Bucky’s hips rest against Steve’s center, they both cum, chanting each other’s name like a mantra, whispers of their love passed back and forth. Neither of them can stop, trying to make up for all the years spent apart. All the years each spent mourning the loss of the other.
By the end of the night, they’re both spent. Cuddled in each other’s arms, Bucky is the first to break the silence. “Is it just me, or does this almost feel wrong without Ladybird?”
“It does, but she wouldn’t want us to stop loving each other.” Bucky doesn’t respond, caught up in his own mind. The pain from losing their Ladybird would never go away and they both knew that.
***
“Dumpling, you should stay there.” It’s said so quietly that if Steve wasn’t a super soldier he wouldn’t have heard him.
“Excuse me?” Steve pulls away, quickly sitting up in the bed.
“You should stay with her. You deserve it - she deserves it.” Bucky hangs his head, not able to look Steve in the eyes.
“And you don’t?”
“No. After all I’ve done, I’d only taint her. She doesn’t deserve that.” It was a decision that Bucky thought long and hard about.
“You think she would believe that? That I would? I just lost you, Buck and you’re asking me to do it again.” Steve stands and paces around the room, not able to comprehend what his boyfriend was saying.
“Think about it, Stevie. At least she would have one of us. You know what happened when she found out we both were ‘dead.’”
“Drop it, okay?” And Bucky did, but he planted the seed inside Steve’s mind.
***
“I’ll never stop loving you, Darling.” Bucky nodded, failing to hold in his tears, knowing that this was the last time he was going to see his best guy.
“Take care of her for me, yeah?”
“You know I will.” He grabs Bucky’s face, sharing their last kiss, tears mixing together. “And don’t do anything stupid until I get back.” His voice cracks, saying his final goodbye.
Bucky swallows hard. “How can I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.” He caresses Steve’s cheek once more and pats it, letting his hand fall down. They look at each other in silence, burning this memory into their brains.
He can’t bear to look at Bucky when he gets on the pad.
***
Steve’s throat is tight as he looks at his old brownstone. His Ladybird is right behind the door, having no idea who is outside. He picks up the spare key - exactly where it always was.
He has to close his eyes, taking in the familiar scent of the home he shared with his two loves. Stepping over the threshold, he sees her and his breath gets caught in his throat. “Ladybird?” He doesn’t even recognize his own voice, so unsure and in disbelief of what he was seeing.
Her head whips around; the dish she was washing shatters as it hits the ground. “Stevie?” His feet are glued to the ground, back hitting the closed door as he tries not to fall to his knees. “Is it really you?” Unlike him, Ladybird sprints to him, her dress fluttering at the speed she moves, the dog tags of her lovers jiggle with every step.
She almost tackles him to the ground, arms intertwined around his neck, legs clutching his waist. He catches her easily, his own arms squeezing her to his chest. Both of their sobs mix together as Steve drops down on the couch, legs no longer able to hold him up. “I thought you were dead. They send soldiers here and everything.” Steve couldn’t form an explanation, too caught up in her entire being.
He can only pull her into a kiss. It was messy, full of tears and snot, but neither of them cared. She didn’t know how long he waited for this moment. They held each other for hours, crying and kissing. Eventually, she fell asleep in his arms.
Steve didn’t have it in him to put her down as he went around the house. Everything was just as he remembered. The kitchen table, engraved with all their initials, still had three chairs around it, each one in different states of ruin - Bucky always flopped in his chair leaving the legs wobbly. Steve’s favorite mug sat on the lowest shelf, right where pre-serum Steve could reach, even though Bucky loved to put it up higher so that Steve had to ask for his help.
The living room still held the old rickie bookshelf that Ladybird insisted that she could put together by herself, no matter how many times her men offered help. Upon it was Bucky’s first edition copy of The Hobbit. He and Ladybird would always make fun of him for how much time, money, and effort he spent just to get that book - Steve placed it in a box along with the recipes from Mrs. Barnes.
The bedroom made his breath hitch, his arms instinctively holding Ladybird closer. His favorite chair, ripped in multiple spots, sat in the corner of the room, right by the window. Right next to it was his stand where his old sketchbook sat untouched - he put that in the box too. Bucky’s side of the closet hung his clothes, neatly arranged in order of his favorites, while Steve’s clothes lay on the ground in a pile, always too lazy to fold them.
The top left dresser draw held the photo album Ladybird made them for Christmas/Hanukkah - that went in the box. Ladybird’s jewelry box had a necklace with the Star of David that she saved for to get Bucky on his birthday. Bucky gave it back to her before he left for safekeeping - in the box it went. On top of the dresser were all the letters she sent to Bucky and Steve, along with the letters they sent her. The army gave them back to her with their dog tags - Steve made sure to not damage them as they were placed in the box.
***
The team shared gasps and whispers between themselves as Steve reappeared with a woman in one arm and a small box in the other. He whispers something in her ear before pointing in the distance.
A gorgeous smile graces her lips as her eyes meet Steve’s target. She doesn’t hesitate to sprint across the grass, bare feet and ignoring all of the Avengers. Bucky doesn’t hear the beat of her steps, overwhelmed at the loss of both of his partners.
He doesn’t know what hit him as he falls to the ground. Kisses are placed all over his face. For a second, he thinks that he’s dreaming because he would know her smell anywhere, the feeling of her lips ingrained in his mind. But even in his dreams, he couldn’t hear her voice, always muffled and distant, but it was clear as day as he lay on the soft ground.
“Bucky!” He has to grab her face to stop her assault, pulling her back far enough to confirm that it was real, that his Ladybird was in his arms.
“Bird? Oh my god.” He pulls her back down, showering her with affection, practically rolling them around in the grass, not caring about the audience that slowly surrounded them. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Her tears come back once again. His hair was longer, worry lines sprinkled around his face, cool metal pressed against her right cheek, his right hand more callused than before. Steve told her a bit about what happened, about how Bucky lost his arm, how insecure he felt because of it.
Without pause, she tilts her head, soft lips placed delicately on his metal palm. “You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you.” Stuck in their own little bubble, they don’t notice Steve laying beside them until his arms wrap around them both.
With one look he gets the rest of the Avengers to leave them in peace. Unlike his past self, Steve could lie when he needed to. He knew that Bucky wouldn’t have let him go to return the stones if he knew Steve wasn’t going to stay. Laying a kiss to Bucky’s forehead, Steve takes in the sight before him, all of them together at last.
“Bucky, you were right. I did take all the stupid with me.” Bucky’s tear streaked face looks over at his partner.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, dumpling.” For the first time since before the war, all three of them felt at peace, finally in each other’s arms again. It may have taken 80 some years, but none of them would change a thing if there was even the smallest chance that they wouldn’t end up together.

💼Part of the Bad Bosses AU💼
Mr. Rogers leaves without saying a word. His face is pale as his hand opens and closes in a fist at his side and he strides past your desk. You watch after him, thinking for a moment that you should follow. No, he has to sort this out on his own. You’ve already done too much.
You go through his calendar and cancel his only other meeting. You don’t think that’s going to happen.
It’s strange sitting there alone. Mr. Rogers comes and goes often but not know when he’ll be back puts you on edge. An hour passes then another. You spend your lunch outside in the sunshine then come back in to the stale office air.
Your phone rings and you answer. You’re surprised when Rogers’ voice comes from the speaker. You expected it to be Dizzie for some reason. She’s been awfully quiet today.
“She changed the locks,” he croaks.
There’s static on the line and thrum that’s so loud it nearly drowns him out.
“Sir?” You sit up straight.
“Peggy. She locked me out. I don’t... I don’t know what to do. I’ve just been sitting here in my car...” his voice is a dull murmur.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Rogers. Is that—can she do that? Can you call your lawyer? The police?”
“Police told me to call the lawyer. Lawyer says it’s gonna take a while so... yeah.”
“I’m so so sorry,” you touch your cheek. “I can’t even imagine... that’s horrible.”
“Yeah, I mean, who would leave you, Rosie? No, that’d be crazy.” He sniffles, “guess I deserve this. I worked so much, all so I could give her the life she wanted but it turns out I worked just enough to drive her away.”
“Sir,” you utter.
“Guess I could go to a hotel. I mean, might as well spend the money before I have alimony to pay,” he laughs crisply. “Bucky’s not picking up. I thought maybe I could stay there but... just because my life is falling apart doesn’t mean he needs to pick up the pieces.”
He sounds so broken it makes your heart rend. Something about his cadence also worries you. He doesn’t sound healthy.
“Sir, where are you?”
You realise then what that noise is. Water.
“By the bridge. The water looks cold.”
You swallow and stand up. “I’ll come to you, alright?”
“Rosie? Why...”
“Just, it’s okay, sir, I’ll be there. Is that Collingswood Bridge? I love the flowers there.”
“Yeah, that’s the one,” he answers.
“Alright, I’m on my way okay, so let’s stay on the phone.”
“Rosie, why do you sound so upset?”
“I’m not upset. I just think you need a friend so I’m coming. Did you want me to message Mr. Barnes as well.”
“I told you, he’s too busy for me,” he mopes.
“But just in case--”
“Oh, woah!” He exclaims.
“Sir, what--”
“Nothing, nothing, I just... this bridge is so high up.”
You tamp down your worry and take a breath, “sir, I canceled your meetings. Oh, did I tell you, they’re opening a new donut place downstairs too! I know your favourite is the one with the sprinkles.”
“You remember,” he says softly.
“Of course, sir,” you assure him.
You keep chattering about nothing in particular as you swipe up your bag and race out of the office. You try not let him hear you panting as you rush down to catch a cab. You mute the phone to tell the driver to head to the bridge then get back on the line.
The conversation rolls on as you don’t let Rogers stop talking. You get out with a hasty thanks and tip to the driver. You rush down the bridge without looking ahead and only after you’re halfway down do you see your boss sitting on the railing. Holy moly.
You slow and walk up to him slowly, letting out quiet mhm’s and uh huhs and you grab onto his forearm. He flinches and you tug on him. You won’t be able to stop him from going over if he slips but you didn’t want to just call out to him and give him a warning.
“Rose!” He looks at you and lowers his phone. “How’d you get here?”
“Mr. Rogers, please, will you get off the railing?” You ask softly.
He stares at you then looks out at the water. He laughs and turns to hang his legs over the inside of the bridge. “Sure, Rosie. Were you worried?”
“I just wanna make sure you’re okay, sir,” you cling to him until he’s on his feet. He glances down at you grip and you finally let go.
“I’m good. I’m great, now that you’re here. Did you find me a room yet?” He asks.
You wince. You’ve been on the phone this whole time. When does he think you did that?
“Are you okay?” You ask.
“Of course, of course,” his eyes are red from tears, his cheeks pallid and streaked.
“Um, I’m sorry, everything’s booked up,” you say, “how about you come to my place? You can stay on my couch. Just for tonight.”
“Really?” His brow wrinkles, “you’d do that for me?”
“Uh, yeah,” you answer. You don’t think leaving him alone right now would be smart. Nor could you forgive yourself if anything happened. “It’s fine. My place is just a bit small.”
“Mm, I don’t mind,” he smiles and pushes his shoulders up in a shiver as a breeze blows across the water. “It’s cold out here.”
“It is, sir,” you agree. “Where did you park?”

Bucky watched with a clenched jaw from the other side of the room as you talked to another man. You laughed and smiled with that man. Something you used to do with Bucky. You and Bucky were engaged years ago, but it ended. Your smile slowly faded away when you seen Bucky looking your way. Bucky’s heart sank when you kissed the guy goodbye before walking away from him.
“Is there something I can help you with, Sergeant? Or are you just going to stand here and stare at me all day?” You asked.
“Nope.” Bucky pops the P. “I was taking a break. I’m going back to work now.” He says before walking out of the room.
He went to the lounge room and sat down on the couch, sighing loudly and ran his fingers through his hair. He closed his eyes, taking a moment to himself.
Bucky had his head propped up on his hand as you slept. His free hand caressed your cheek, gently rubbing your cheekbone. Your eyes fluttered open to see your fiancée looking at you.
“Were you watching me sleep?” You asked with a smile giggle.
“No. I’m simply admiring my fiancée’s beauty.” Bucky says softly with a smile.
You blushed and covered your face with the blanket. Bucky uncovered you and got on top of you. He leaned down and placed kisses all over your face, making you laugh uncontrollably.
“You ok?” Steve asks, snapping Bucky out of his thoughts.
“I-” Bucky cleared his throat and stood up. “I’m fine.” He lies, walking past him.
Steve knows when Bucky is lying and when he’s upset. He followed after him and grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks.
“Buck, what’s wrong? Talk to me.” Steve says with concern in his voice.
“I hate seeing my ex fiancée going out with men who aren’t me.” Bucky admits. “I just- I just want her to remember me.” He says.
“She will. Just give her time.” He says, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“70+ years isn’t enough time?” He scoffs, feeling his eyes water. “What would you do if it was Peggy?” He asks. “Sorry.” He apologizes. “I didn’t mean to bring her up like that.” He says.
“It’s ok. It’s a valid question.” He says. “To answer your question, I would surround her with familiar things.” He answers.
That gave Bucky an idea. He gave Steve a smile before walking away to go to his bedroom. He immediately went to his closet, looking for something. He didn’t know what he was looking for, but he’ll know once he finds it.
“Come on. Where is it?” Bucky mumbles to himself.
He let out a sigh of relief when he found what he was looking for. It’s the very first picture you and him took together. It’s a picture of you and Bucky kissing sweetly and you two didn’t know his sister took a picture of the two of you.
Rebecca walks in the living room to see Bucky giving you the world’s sweetest kiss. She smiles to herself, happy to see her older brother found someone to make him happy. She seen a camera on the shelf next to her from the corner of her eye. She grabbed the camera and took a picture of the two of you without you guys even knowing. She put the picture on the couch next to you two and quietly walked out of the living room.
Bucky walks in the lobby of the compound to see you about to leave with the man you’re going on a date with. He quickly walked up to you before you walked out the door.
“Agent Y/L/N, you got a minute?” Bucky asks, approaching you.
“Not really.” You say.
“I’ll make it quick.” He says.
You sighed and told your date to wait outside for a moment. Bucky took a second to take in your beauty.
“What is it?” You asked, crossing your arms.
Bucky showed you the picture of you and him kissing without saying a word. You looked at the picture, studying it, but nothing came to your mind.
“Who are those people?” You asked Bucky.
“You and me.” He tells you. “My sister took this picture when we weren’t paying attention.” He explains.
“I can clearly see that’s me. I don’t know what you’re trying to get at, Sergeant, but we were never together and we will never be together. Now if you’ll excuse me, my date is waiting for me.” You say.
Bucky stood there, watching you walk hand and hand with another man. He felt his anger bubbling up inside of him. Before he knew it, his vibranium fist went through the wall. Steve rounded the corner a few seconds later and looked at the hole in the wall before looking at his best friend.
“I’m sorry.” Bucky apologizes. “I’ll pay to get that fixed.” He says.
“Don’t worry about it.” Steve says softly.
Bucky stormed away and went to the kitchen to get a beer. He opened it and drank almost half of it. Steve walked in the kitchen at the same time as Sam.
“What’s wrong with you?” Sam curiously asks Bucky.
“Y/N still doesn’t remember me.” Bucky said.
“I can’t imagine what you’re going through, man, but just give her time.” He says.
“You’re not the first person to say that to me today.” He says, taking another sip of his beer.
Sam seen the picture of you and Bucky on the kitchen counter and picked it up, looking at it.
“You two looked so happy.” Sam says.
“We are- I mean were.” Bucky corrects himself. “She was the love of my life and still is.” He tells him. “I just want her to come back to me.” He says.
Bucky walked away and took the picture with him. He went back to his room, putting the picture on his nightstand before laying down on his bed and stared up at the ceiling. Before he knew it, he drifted off to sleep.
“Please be careful.” You tell Bucky.
“I’ll try my best, doll.” Bucky says softly.
Bucky leaned in and kissed you passionately and sweetly. That’s when an Army officer said it was time to go.
“I love you, doll.” He whispers.
“I love you more, Buck.” You whispered back.
Bucky woke up from the dream and sat up, leaning his back against the headboard. His eyes filled with tears. The dream he just had was a memory of the last time he seen you before he left for the Army.
“I came back to you. Why can’t you come back to me, doll?” Bucky says to himself, crying softly.
The following morning, Bucky walked in the kitchen to see you telling Natasha and Wanda about your date with that guy last night. He stood there, listening as well. Natasha and Wanda quieted down when they seen Bucky.
“Don’t stop talking cause I’m in the room.” Bucky sat down next to you. “Tell me about your date.” He says, putting himself in the conversation.
You blinked a couple times, not sure if you should tell Bucky about your date. You continued to stare at him when he called you doll. Natasha and Wanda sensed the awkwardness between you and Bucky.
“I don’t think I should.” You say.
You stood up from your seat and walked out of the kitchen. Bucky just scoffed and rubbed his hands over his face.
“She’ll come around to you, Bucky.” Wanda says, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Bucky stood up from his seat and went to the gym. As he was walking to the gym, his enhanced hearing picked up your voice in the conference room. He heard you talking to another man. A different man from yesterday.
Bucky’s jaw clenched and his hands balled up into fists when he heard the guy call you cute pet names. “It’s doll.” Bucky says in his head. He wanted nothing more than to snap that guy’s neck with his vibranium hand. He couldn’t listen to any more of it. He went to the gym to take his anger out on a punching bag.
Bucky wasn’t sure how long he was in the gym, but he went through two punching bags and is on a third. With one last punch with his vibranium fist, the punching bag was sent across the gym with sand leaking from it.
“Fuck!” Bucky shouts, his voice cracking and echoing in the gym.
You walked in the gym after Bucky shouted. You seen three punching bags leaking with sand on the floor before looking at Bucky.
“Sergeant Barnes, are you ok?” You asked.
“I would be ok if you remembered me.” Bucky says without realizing it.
“What?” You asked.
“Nothing.” He says, leaving the gym.
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as you watched him walk out of the gym. Bucky kept trying to come up with ways to get you to remember him. He tried showing you a picture of you and him together, but that didn’t work. That’s when something came to his mind. He smiles to himself as a memory came to his mind the first time he called you doll.
“Hi doll!” Bucky greets you with a kiss and a hug.
“Doll?” You asked.
“You’re cute as a doll. It fits, don’t you think.” He says.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and stood on your tippy toes to kiss his lips softly and sweetly as a way of telling him you like the pet name.
“It’s cute and I love it.” You tell him.
“Then it’s settled. You’re my doll.” He says with a smile.
“And you’re my Bucky Bear.” You say softly.
Bucky was snapped from his thoughts when he seen you walking towards him.
“Steve wants you to look over these.” You say, handing him a file before walking away.
“Sure thing, doll.” Bucky says.
You stopped in your tracks, blinking a couple times before turning around. You haven’t heard that pet name in years, but you weren’t sure where you heard it and who said it.
“What did you call me?” You asked him.
“Doll.” He says with a hopeful smile.
“It’s Agent Y/L/N not doll.” You tell him.
Bucky’s hopeful smile faded away and he nodded. He was absolutely sure that calling you doll would work, but he guessed wrong. He sighed and walked away.
As Bucky was looking over the file, he couldn’t focus. He was staring at the wall in front of him.
Meanwhile, you were still trying to figure out where you heard the pet name Bucky called you. That’s when it came to you. Your memories of Bucky, your relationship with him, and the pet name you always called him.
You ran to find him. You looked everywhere in the compound for him, but couldn’t find him. The only room you didn’t look in is the lounge room. You immediately went to that room to see Bucky going over the file you gave him earlier.
“Bucky Bear…” You said.
Bucky froze. He hasn’t heard you call him that since the 1940s.
“I called you Bucky Bear and you called me doll.” You say.
“That’s right.” Bucky confirms. “That’s what we called each other.” He says, standing up from his seat.
You approached him and stood on your tippy toes to kiss him. Bucky never forgot how soft your lips felt against his lips. His hands found their way to your waist and pulled you against him. The kiss had so much passion in it that it left the two of you breathless.
“Come back to me, doll.” Bucky whispers against your lips.
“I’m right here, Bucky Bear.” You whispered back.
Bucky pulled away from the kiss to look deep in your eyes.
“I still want to marry you.” You tell him.
“Then we’ll pick up where we left off.” He says.
Both of you smile widely before kissing each other again.
“I missed you so fucking much.” You say.
“I missed you more, doll.” He almost whispers. “I love you.” He says.
“I love you too, Bucky Bear.” You say softly.

Tech Tuesday: Steve Rogers

Tech Tuesdays Masterlist
Steve can't remember the last time he felt so nervous. Well, no, the last time he was this nervous it was when he was trying to ask you out. But you said yes and now he's the most nervous he's ever been for a date!
He wishes he could grow out of the awkwardness he'd lived for so many years. That he could finally be the cool, confident person everyone thought he was until he started talking. As many muscles as he worked on, it couldn't stop him from being a dork. Especially around a beautiful woman like you.
He sighs fondly, remembering when you'd accidentally run into him, giving him a hug to keep from falling. For weeks afterwards he was kicking himself for not doing something smooth or giving you a cool pickup line or something. Instead he just hugged you back and asked if you were okay. He even stuttered as he spoke! The fact that you agreed to a date was nothing short of a miracle as far as he was concerned.
He'd gone over the itinerary with Bucky enough times that he didn't even have to say anything before Bucky was assuring him it was a good first date plan. Dinner at a diner you'd mentioned liking followed by one of those wine and painting classes. Food first so the wine wouldn't sour your stomach. And painting instead of sketching to avoid complaints that he was trying to prove his superiority.
He still winces when he thinks of Peggy being so angry that he was good at drawing. It was a bullet dodged, yes, but he still hates that she thought he was trying to be better than her. But painting wasn't his strong suit, so hopefully this would be better.
At the same time you're going through your closet, getting advice from Spitfire and Bubbles about what to wear since you don't trust your own opinion. You've been pining after Steve since your first day in the office and he actually asked you out! You don't want him to regret doing so.
"I think you should go casual," Spitfire proposes. "He sees you in your work clothes all the time, let him see what you normally look like outside of work."
"That's a good idea!" Bubbles encourages. "Especially if he's taking you to some more casual places like you said."
"But I wanna be like, sexy or something," you complain. "My casual clothes are just so plain."
"Just wear some cherry red lipstick," Bubbles comments. "He seems the type to go weak for that."
Spitfire nods in agreement. "Plus, if he's as interested as he seems, he's gonna find you sexy regardless of what you're wearing."
"That's true," Bubbles concurs.
You sigh in exasperation. "Okay, okay. I get what you're saying. But I still wanna look...good? I don't want him embarrassed to be seen with me!"
"If he even hints that he is, you let us know and we'll knock him straight," Spitfire retorts, making you smile and giggle. You're very grateful to have friends willing to go to bat for you.
You finally settle on a pair of dark jeans and a pastel long-sleeved t-shirt with your lucky flannel jacket. You feel comfortable and Spitfire and Bubbles are quick to assure that you look good.
Steve is waiting in his car outside your apartment building. He wasn't sure you'd be okay with his motorcycle and figured the car would be safer. As soon as you step outside, he's out of the car and opening the passenger door for you. You smile at the gesture and Steve beams at you.
When your close enough he can take in how you look, he's rendered speechless. You always look pretty when you're wearing your work clothes but now? You look absolutely stunning and he can't believe he's so lucky to get to take you on a date. He stumbles over his words a few times before finally saying, "you look so beautiful!"
Heat rushes to your face and you giggle, making him blush. "You really think so?"
"Absolutely," he breathes. You swear you've never felt prettier in your life.
"Thank you," you shyly reply. "You're looking very handsome, too." His blush deepens and he rubs a hand on the back of his head as he mumbles his thanks.
You take your spot in the passenger seat and Steve, all smiles, gets into the driver seat, feeling like he's walking on air.
The drive to the diner is mainly spent with each of you trying to say something but accidentally interrupting each other, followed by awkward giggling.
"This is a really nice car," you finally manage to get out.
"Oh, thanks," he blushes. "It's old, but definitely reliable. And way more comfortable than the Beetle I used to have."
"You used to have a Beetle? How did you fit?" You slap your hand over your mouth in embarrassment as you think about how rude your question could be.
Thankfully he laughs. "It was when I was a lot smaller. I used to be really scrawny."
"Really?"
"Had a lot of health problems growing up," he shrugs. You give a consolatory "aww" and he continues. "Finally got the medical help I needed and now I'm..." he gestures to his physique.
"I'm so glad you got your health in order. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be."
"Admittedly, I took that frustration out on others. Bullies, specifically, just so you know. They kept poking fun at me, so I kept fighting back."
"That's so brave of you! I'd have run away and cried." Like I do at work, you think.
"Bucky definitely wishes that was the case for me," Steve chuckles. "The number of times he had to come to my rescue..."
You chuckle at that. "So you've been friends for quite some time?"
"Yeah. He's also the one that, once my health issues were under control, helped me figure out a workout so I could be less scrawny."
"That's so good of him."
"He did make me promise that I'd stop fighting so much but I still get so riled up around bullies."
You place a hand on his arm, "well thank you for not punching my boss, bully that she is."
"Yeah, well..." he stutters for a bit, his face turning redder. "If she ever gets to be too much, you just let me know, okay? I'm good friends with HR."
"Thank you, Steve."
As you get more comfortable around each other the date becomes filled with laughter and bad jokes. You leave the diner with full bellies and big smiles.
At the class, you haven't even sipped at your first glass of wine but you can't stop giggling with Steve. The teacher for the class tells everyone there's no pressure to be perfect so don't worry about any mistakes. Steve leans into your ear and whispers, "just brush it off." You have to bite your tongue to keep from laughing out loud but he feels the way you're shaking with laughter and his eyes sparkle when he looks at you.
"Don't get too confident," you whisper back. "I'm easel-y impressed." Now it's Steve's turn to bite back a laugh while visibly shaking.
"You know why you should be careful around artists?" Steve whispers. "They're pretty sketchy."
"I still can't believe you're real," you whisper back, "and not just a pigment of my imagination."
Neither of you wants to disrupt the class but you just can't help how good you're feeling. How comfortable you both are with each other. How much more relaxed the atmosphere of the date has gotten. And you can't even blame the wine since you've barely finished a single glass.
The only time Steve freezes up is when you snuggle up to him, putting your head on his shoulder while you think about what color to pick next. He swears his heart stopped in that moment but he never wanted it to end.
The only moment that topped that was when he dropped you off back at your apartment. He walked you up to your building, like the gentleman he is, and you actually kissed him goodnight. It wasn't a deep kiss, but it was still full of affection and warmth and Steve wanted to drop to his knees and thank you. You giggle at the lipstick left on his lips and try to rub it away but he stops you, his smile never dropping.
"Can we do this again?" he pleads.
You give a shy nod, "next weekend?"
"Next weekend," he confirms.

Hiiii! I’m so glad you’re open again I hope you’re doing well!
Poor fearless all this angst could you do a request where it’s Father’s Day on earth and fearless wants to celebrate with megatron but is kinda embarrassed so covers it up with like an excuse?
Fearless just wants to spend some time with their robo dad.
Hope you enjoy!
Fearless and Megatron Celebrating Father's Day
SFW, Platonic, Familial, Human reader
MTMTE
Fearless never had the best experiences with Father’s Day.
It opened a few too many wounds for them and happily skipped the holiday.
But this time, after a year on the Lost Light, a year with Megatron on board, things were different.
For once, they wanted to celebrate it.
The only problem was who they wanted to celebrate it with.
Don’t get them wrong, Megatron had come a LONG way from what he was during and before entering the ship.
His perspective on humans though? It depends…
He still made some comments on humans and their ‘traditions’ like every other bot who didn’t stay on Earth or long.
It was normal for them.
But it didn’t mean that it hurt any less.
Fearless really didn’t want to know what he would think, say or do if they even attempted to tell him about Father’s Day.
At Swerve’s… Fearless is slightly slumped on the bar counter, playing with the straw in their hand. Swerve glances over that the resident human looking a bit down. Swerve: “What’s got you all slumped like that?” Fearless: “Just life Swerve.” Swerve straightens his backstruts a bit. Swerve: “You wanna talk about it?” Fearless sighs a bit. Fearless: “I don’t think you can solve this one Swervey.” Swerve: “Try me.” Fearless is about to talk when a loud noise comes from one of the TV screens in the bar. Fearless: “what did you put on?” Swerve: “Don’t know really. Peggy, the main character is trying to get Ray, her friend, on a date without letting them know their both on a date.” Fearless suddenly perks up. Fearless: “A day off without letting the other know what’s going on?” Swerve: “Yeah if you boil it down like that.” Fearless jumps up to their feet and hugs Swerve best they can before running out. Fearless: “Thanks Swerve!
Fearless was out to make their plan.
Was tricking him good?
… It wasn’t going to harm him so…
They still had a few more days to go.
They needed that day to be free for both of them.
They could manage to get most of their work done for that day, but Megatron was another story.
Bots were constantly coming him in and not to mention his duties as Co-Captain.
If they played their cards right, there was a chance they could pull this off.
It was going to be tough, but it was going to be worth it.
Whirl looks at Fearless struggling to pull a large bucket of paint on a wagon. Whirl lightly pokes his Amica’s side. Their face is flushed and dark circles were starting to form around their eyes. Fearless: “You need something Whirl?” Whirl: “You look like roadkill.” Fearless rolls their eyes and continues to pull the wagon. Whirl is a bit confused why Fearless didn’t reply. Whirl: “Okay…” Later… Whirl is talking to Cyclonus and Tailgate. Rodimus walks up to them. Rodimus: “Whirl, is something going on with Fearless lately?” Whirl: “You noticed it too?” Rodimus: “Fearless just came by and took my paperwork and told me they would do all of it if I didn’t contact them and Megatron on some day.” Cyclonus: “That is strange…” Tailgate: “I heard from Swerve that Fearless has been doing all sorts of weird favors to for the same thing!” Swerve suddenly runs into the group. Swerve: “Does anyone know why Fearless is doing favors and looking like they haven’t slept in a week?”
Time for some of the crew to take things into their own servos.
Literally.
Rodimus plucked Fearless on his way to his office and almost demanded to know why they are doing all this extra work.
Fearless fesses up that they were doing all these things for bots not to bother them and Megatron on Father’s Day.
They explained to him their plan to celebrate the holiday without the ex-warlord fully knowing why.
Rodimus does advise them to tell Megatron, but also understands why they are so hesitant.
Megatron is not blind to Fearless’s odd little runs here and there.
… And he had asked Ravage to eavesdrop on Fearless and Rodimus’s conversation about Father’s Day.
He has many mixed feelings about this.
He feels a bit bad that Fearless is going through so much trouble do make a day free for both of them and that they would think that he’d be repulsed if he found out the truth.
Maybe Pre-ship Meg’s might have had some strong comments, but now…
Now things were different.
There wasn’t much he could do; the holiday was the next day.
But maybe there was…
Fearless arrives early to Megatron’s habsuite in one of their better uniforms.
Megatron is ready to get breakfast with them.
Fearless masks their surprise and joins him.
They have a great and relaxing day, or as relaxing as you can get on the Lost Light.
It was mainly thanks to the Rod Squad making sure that the pair had the day without any interruptions.
Whirl has already threatened several bots on the ship.
At the end of the day… Megatron and Fearless are in his habsuite watching an older movie on the screen. Fearless is snugged against Meg’s neck cables. Megatron: “… I know about Father’s Day.” He could feel Fearless immediately tense up. Maybe he shouldn’t have approached this differently. Megatron: “And I truly appreciate what you did to make this day possible.” Fearless looks at him surprised. Megatron: “Admittedly this was… a surprise. No one has ever done this for me before. And much less from someone who would even consider me to be a parental figure. I understand that this is an important title and… I am honored that you would give me this. Thank you, my child.” Fearless wants to say something but the only sound that comes out is a shocked sob. They try to stifle it as they huddle closer to his neckcables, occasionally sniffling. Megatron carefully strokes their back as they continue to watch the movie. Fearless: “Happy Father’s Day, Dad.” Megatron: “Thank you for making me one.”
Megs has defiantly held Fearless like this at one point

The Queer Subtext of the CATFA Bar Scene
(Long post, alt text included)
While there are countless examples of evidence to support the idea that Steve & Bucky had romantic tension, none stick out to me quite like the bar scene in catfa
In this post, I will go over the reasons this scene is so important to their relationship
First of all, let’s talk about the heartfelt conversation the two were having prior to Peggy’s arrival. Bucky expressing his admiration for Steve’s bravery, before and after the serum, as he specifies:
This scene displays Bucky’s admiration for Steve, no matter what he looks like. One of my favorite lines.
Not to mention this totally not-subtle remark…
Now let’s talk about the painfully obvious jealousy Bucky showed while Steve and Peggy were flirting. He even started passive-aggressively “flirting” with Peggy while she and Steve were eye-fcking.
Through heteronormative eyes, this may look like Bucky’s jealous of Steve’s new status as “ladies-man”. But if you truly know their characters, you know that’s not true.
As if his jealousy wasn’t already evident enough, look at the death-stare he gives Peggy as she walks away. He is FURIOUS 😭
A new bout of evidence for the queer subtext of this scene was conjured by episode 1 of what if..? when marvel was desperately trying to force feed us steggy, they accidentally confirmed a stucky theory.
In what if, there’s a romantic scene with Steve and Peggy at a bar, and they were interrupted by bucky just before they were going to kiss… sound familiar?
Marvel has been aggressively trying to get us invested in steggy post-endgame, and has done so by attempting to erase Steve and Bucky’s relationship entirely. This is even more evident in the Disneyland adaptation of “Rogers: the musical” adapted from the Hawkeye series.
Now the last topic is, in my opinion, the most evident of Steve and buckys romantic subtext. That is, of course, the song choice of the bar scene.
Throughout the scene, the howling commandos and others can be heard singing “there is a tavern in the town”. How exactly does this confirm stucky? Well let’s look at the lyrics…
Come ON these lyrics perfectly describe buckys POV during this scene. This song choice was no accident in this essay I will 😤
There’s actually a YouTube video that points this “coincidence” out! I recommend you watch so you can see what I mean:
youtube
In conclusion? Bucky was undoubtedly in love with Steve and this scene is a certified stevebucky classic
thanks for reading <3
#stucky#it’s so painfully obvious goddamn#originally posted this on Twitter but hopefully it’ll gain more traction here lol#captain america#catfa#steve rogers#bucky barnes#stevebucky#Youtube

M's Marvel Thought of the Day
Daniel Sousa, now settled in the 21st century, looks up what happened to his friends from his own timeline.
Daisy had already gently broken the news about Peggy's death to him. They visited her grave site and talked about the adventures and missions the two had been on.
He read the case file on Howard and Maria Stark's death, the Winter Solider case and knowledge of who he was sending him for a loop. He'd met Sergeant Barnes once, that day when he thought he would die on the battle field. He had never been Howard's biggest fan but no one deserved that.
He read the obituaries of Ana and Edwin Jarvis, found they were buried in New York, side by side as they'd been in life. He left pink flowers - Ana's favourite colours of peonies - on their grave, and thanked them for their friendship and support.
There had been two people he'd been somewhat surprised to find out were still alive and unbelievably in the same old people's home in DC. He'd been unsure whether visiting would be a good idea but after some gentle investigating from Daisy and Mack, he found himself entering a rec room. There was various elderly people around, reading newspapers or napping in high backed armchairs. But no-one looked familiar. Daisy squeezed his hand before getting the attention of one of the nurses, who led them around the corner of the room.
As they make their approach when Daniel hears a far too familiar voice, making him stop in his tracks.
"Ha! Got you again Thompson, pay up!" Rose Roberts, with now grey hair but with the same thick glasses, smirked triumphantly across the top of the checkers board.
The older man across the table groaned. "We go through this every damn day Rose. Can we go back to Chess?" Daniel took in the older man he'd known a life time ago, hair still slicked back in the way it had always been. A cane leant against the wall behind him and he coughed after laughing at Rose's comeback.
"Chief Thompson? Agent Roberts?" The nurse asked drawing their attention. "You have some visitors."
Both former agents looked across to see Daniel standing with an indecipherable look on his face.
"Fucking hell..."
"What the hell..." Their voices overlapped suddenly.
"Hey Rose, hey Jack." Daniel said stepping forward. Rose struggled to her feet, using the table to leverage herself up.
"Chief? Is that really you?" Rose looked up at him, his arms coming up to help balance her.
"It's me. It's good to see you Rose." And he found himself engulfed in her arms, wrapping his back around her and holding her tight. "God it's good to see you Rose."
"How the hell are you here?" She said as she looked back up to him. "And who's the beautiful woman you brought with you?" She fixed him with that same mischievous look she used to shoot at him all the time after glancing to Daisy who stood off to the side. Always so invested in his love life, so he chuckled.
"I can explain everything I promise. Why don't we sit?" He helped her back to her chair, glancing across to Jack who had his hand's in fists on the other side of the table. "Hi Thompson."
"Who are you?" He demanded. "You're sure as hell not Daniel Sousa. He died in...55." He paused remembering the exact year. "We buried him. We... mourned him. You sure as hell aren't him."
"I can explain that I am Jack."
"I am 102, not stupid." Rose scoffed, making both men turn to her.
"Jack do be serious. What about Rogers? He came back to Peg did he not?"
"How can we be sure? It may be some traitor. Davey was telling me just the other day about those shape shifting aliens Fury was palling around with..." Jack started saying.
"How about this Jack? I'll prove it to you." The older man looked puzzled but let him continue. "Before you went to Russia with Carter, met the Howling Commandoes when we were investigating Stark. You tricked me in the locker room, into seeing Carter changing. You asked me to get your compass from..."
"Locker 42." Jack finished his sentence and looked Daniel up and down, his gaze resting on the prosthetic leg.
"I've still only got one leg but the future makes a better prosthetic than Stark by a mile." Daniel joked, and Jack stood at that, pulling Daniel into a hug that he was not expecting. "It's good to see you too Jack."
They sat back down, chairs pulled up for Daniel and Daisy, as they told the story of faking his death, and pulling him out of time. Of their adventures into space and the weird and wacky things he'd discovered in the 21st Century.
They told him stories from their own lives after his death, cases he'd missed out on, Howard's ridiculousness. Peggy's rise to power. The three old friends spoke fondly of her, recalling stories from throughout the time they spent with her.
Rose grilled him and Daisy on their story and relationship, telling Daisy all the embarrassing things that Daniel had been happy to leave behind in the 50's. The unlikely pair giggled and formed a friendship.
Rose told her stories of her first and second marriage, her daughter, son-in-law and grandson who would visit every weekend.
Jack had been married when Daniel died, to Peggy's lovely personal secretary Ruth who knew how to put him in his place. They'd only had a daughter the year or two before Daniel supposedly died. Jack talked about how they'd gone on to have three more daughters, now had 8 grandchildren, including a grandson who had joined SHIELD recently (Daniel promised to keep an eye out for him). Then, his Ruth had passed a few years ago and Daniel expressed his condolences.
At that moment, a young boy, probably 5-years-old barrelled into the room and to Jack's side. "Pops, Pops!"
"Hey there, Danny. How's my favourite guy?" With surprising strength for a man of his years, Jack swung the young man up till he was sat on his knee.
"I'm good! Momma's coming now." He pointed to where a pretty blonde was making her way across the room, shaking her head as she stooped to kiss Jack on the cheek and ruffle her son's head.
"Sorry Grandpa, the traffic was horrendous." She greeted Rose much the same way, passing her a package. "Fudge from that place on 4th for your Rose, Danny over there insisted." She turned to the guests who sat between them. "Hello, I'm Ruthy." She shook their hands.
"Ruthy, this is Daniel and Daisy. Daniel, Daisy, my granddaughter Ruthy and her son, Danny." Jack smirked at Sousa as his great-grandson played with the watch on his wrist.
"Danny? Huh." Was the only thing Daniel came up with as he watched an old friend acting like a goofy grandparent.
"Yeah, Grandpa had a friend called Daniel who saved his life a bunch of times when he was younger. Used to tell us stories all about Sousa and Carter and their adventures. We never believed him until we found out where he worked." Ruthy filled in nonchalantly, sitting on the opposite side of the table, digging through her bag to produce a water bottle for her son unaware of the look on Daniel's face. Jack smirked massively. "Here, Grandpa. I managed to grab that album from storage that you wanted." She handed across a large leather bound photo album to the older man, who flipped through a few pages.
"Here you go Daisy, you'll like this one." Jack smirked, that old charming smile creeping onto his face as he passed the now open book across to her, Daniel peering over her shoulder and scoffing.
"Woah." Ruth finally looked up, glancing at the photo and then back up to Daniel and back again. "Well. I cannot believe it took me that long. I knew you looked familiar. I thought it was just Quake that had me thinking that."
Daisy smirked. "You don't seem surprised?"
"Oh I've worked at Stark Industries for a long time, I'm so used to superheroes and weird tech not much surprises me anymore. You see Tony Stark walking round in Iron-Man pants one too many times and you get over stuff pretty quickly." She levelled Daniel with a look. "Time travel huh?"
"Yes. But I haven't seen these in literal years." He said his hand tapped a few photos. One from the first day of opening the first SHIELD base, Thompson and Howard Stark stood either side of Peggy and Daniel. Another of Peggy, Daniel and Rose throwing confetti at Jack's wedding. One of Daniel and Thompson with Peggy on her Wedding Day. An outtake of that one where Howard was attempting to jumping into frame and Jarvis dragging him out, while the three of them laughed lay below it.
He could still picture that party, he could hear the band playing, memories of Peggy dancing with Rogers, happy and content. He remembered how happy he was for her.
Daisy squeezed his knee beneath the table and brought him back to the present. He pressed a kiss to her temple and continued the conversation. They had coffee and cake and Rose shared her fudge. Daisy made lunch trolley roll across the room, making Jack's great-grandson shriek in delighted laughs and push it back into a position where she could do it again and again.
They left hours later and Daniel felt more settled than he had done in a long time. Daisy squeezed his hand as they drove away.
They'd return to visit every time they were in town, which was more often these days now SHIELD HQ was there, sometimes together, sometimes alone. They met all of both of their families, attended Ruth's 100th birthday. Brought presents for Daniel's namesake's birthday.
When Daisy and Daniel tied the knot, two reserved seats on the front row of the groom's side were filled my two of his oldest friends some of their families just a couple rows back. They 'snuck' them into new SHIELD HQ to see all the new tech and planes, the memorial wall that included people they'd known a lifetime ago.
Daniel loved the future, loved living his life alongside Daisy and her family. But knowing his friends were there, getting to spend time with them was an unexpected but valuable thing for him. It gave him a link to the past, someone to shoot the breeze with, with some similar experiences from the past. A taste of a previous life he was grateful for as he lived his new one.

Once Mr. Rogers finally finished passing out the test he walked towards the front of the class.
“I want everyone to read chapter 8 through 9, he will be discussing it tomorrow during class” the bell finally rings signaling the end of the school day. You watch as everyone gets their stuff and begins to exit the class. “Let’s go M/n” you smile at Peter “I’ll catch up to you” he smiles back at you “alright” after a few minutes the classroom is finally empty.
You watch as Mr. Rogers is on his desk grading some papers “Mr. Rogers, what did you want to talk about?” “M/n I’m afraid you might fail the semester if you are not able to bring your grade up” “I know” you look down at your hands “but I am really trying, I just have been distracted a lot lately” you feel his gaze on you. You slowly look up and meet his eyes “is everything alright at home?” You nod “it’s not that”
You watch as he gets up and walks around the desk and walks closer towards you “you can talk to me about anything M/n” you look into his blue eyes and walk closer towards him your body’s only inches away. You notice his hand on top of his desk and slowly touch his fingers with your own, “M/n we shouldn’t do this” you walk closer towards him “i know but I can’t help it”
You feel as he wraps his arms around your body pulling you closer towards him, he finally crashes his lips on yours. You close your eyes and moan into each other's mouths, you finally pull away from the kiss and catch your breath “Mr. Rogers” “call me Steve” you lower your hand down his shirt and begin to unbutton his pants.
“Someone’s eager” you let out a small laugh “I’ve wanted you since the moment I first walked into your class Steve” he grips your hair tightly and pulls it back “I’ve wanted you too M/n” you finally slip your hand into his underwear and begin to play with his growing cock.
He lowers his face into your neck and begins to suck on it, “mhm” he pulls off your neck after a few seconds. You slowly lower yourself into your knees and look up at him, you slap his cock on your tongue and begin to slowly take him into your mouth.
You watch as he grips the desk with his hands, you feel as if your nose is tickled by his hair. You keep his cock in your mouth for a couple of seconds before slowly pulling away. He lifts your chin up so your looking at him “fuck baby come here” he lifts you up and lays you on his desk, he pulls you into a kiss.
You feel as he begins to unbutton your pants, he pulls away from the kiss and helps you remove your pants and underwear. He grabs your legs and pulls them apart displaying your pink hole at him “fuck M/n” you watch as he slowly leans in and you begin to feel his warm tongue lick your rim before slowly inserting in tongue in you, you let out a small moan.
“Mmmm such a delicious hole” you feel as he begins to insert two of his fingers into your hole “Mhhm Steve I need you” “I know sweetheart, but I don’t want to hurt you” you feel as he hits your prostate with the tip of his fingers making you see stars “oh god right there” you begin to feel as he begins to attack your prostate with his fingers.
“You feel good?” You nod “well you’re about to feel a lot better” he removes his fingers from your hole causing you to let out a small whine. He grips your legs and slowly lowers them in his shoulders “you ready?” “Yesss” he begins to insert his cock into your needy hole.
“Shit your still so fucking tight” you throw your hands around his neck holding him tightly “feel..so…fulll” you watch as a smile creeps into his face “you feel so good wrapped around my cock baby” “Steve…please..move” “are you sure?” You nod “use your words” “please fuck me Steve”
You feel as he begins to move his hips, you bite your lip loving how he felt inside of you. You close your eyes as Steve slowly thrust into you, after a few minutes he begins to pick up the speed to his thrust. You begin to let out low moans “shit baby I love the sounds you make” he leans down and connects your lips in a heated kiss. You feel as his tongue begins to explore your mouth.
You feel as he pulls away from the kiss, you throw your head back and begin to arch your back “Ste..ve….I’m…clo..se” you feel as he begins to grip the base of your cock “not yet M/n I want us to cum together” you begin to sink your nails into Steve’s shoulders as he constantly hits your prostate with his cock.
After a few minutes his thrust begin to get sloppy, he leans down and begins to whisper into your ear “fuck I’m gonna cum” “me too” “where do you want it?” “In..side…me…ple..se” he delivers one final thrust into you letting out a loud moan. You shit your eyes tightly as you finally cum all over your and Steve’s stomach.
“Your mine now” you feel as you begin to smile “im only yours” he begins to slowly remove his cock from your loose hole “fuck what a pretty sight” you watch as he begins to pull his pants back on. You watch as he takes his underwear and begins to clean the leaking cum that begins to come out of your hole.
“Thanks” “no problem” you sit up and begin to get dressed again. Once you're fully dressed again you look at him and smile and you pull him into a kiss, you hear a knock at his door and the two of you quickly pull away. You watch as Ms. Carter walks into the classroom, you watch as she inspects the room and notices your messy hair and the papers on the floor. “What is going on here?” “I can explain Peggy”
You watch as she exits the classroom “shit, I’ll be right back M/n” you nod. You watch as he leaves the classroom, you begin to walk around the classroom scared of what might happen. After a few minutes Steve walks back into the classroom “what happened” “I’m resigning in the morning” “what” you try to comfort him but he slowly walks back “I think you should go M/n”
You look at him confused “alright” you go to your desk and grab your backpack. You watch as he begins to clean up the mess that both of you made, you walk out of his classroom shutting the door. You begin to walk down the hallway as tears begin to collect in your eyes.
You walk past Peter not noticing him “Hey M/n, wait up” you begin to slow down “are you alright” “I don’t want to talk about it” he looks at you and pulls you into a hug “you don’t have to talk About it if you don’t want to” you begin to cry into his shoulder “thanks Pete” “anything for my best friend, how about we go for some pizza”You wipe away the tears from your face “pizza sounds great”

Not Alone
Bucky x GN!Reader
Description: Bucky is refusing to come to terms with everything that’s happened following the fight with Thanos, and you know that the walls he’s carefully built up around his emotions are going to come crashing down one day. So what happens when they finally do?
Warnings: Angstyyyyy, Bucky is SAD, takes place somewhere between that and FATWS but idk where, crying, hurt/comfort, I don’t know if it’s an inherently “happy” ending per say, but it's a comforting one I think, some mentions of bad mental health, NOT Endgame!Steve Friendly (just like me)
A/N: I am sorry for this
((18+ only below the cut please and thank you!!))
Bucky had been struggling, you knew it.
You’d been by his side for long enough to know when he was trapped in his own mind
But this was different
Usually, you could at least get him to tell you what was wrong
But ever since the fight with Thanos he’d avoided talking about what was wrong
You could hardly blame him, it had been a difficult last few months
In the fallout of his return from spending 5 years as a dust pile and the subsequent fight, you had held Bucky’s hand through Tony’s funeral, being placed in a holding cell by the US Government, his pardon hearing, moving back to Brooklyn, starting his court-mandated therapy, and trying to acclimate to the modern world, and fully come to terms with the pain and torture HYDRA had inflicted him for decades.
And then of course there had been Steve.
You knew Bucky was upset and hurt over his best friend leaving him, and everyone else he had grown close to, behind to be with Peggy.
And you could hardly blame him.
Suffice to say, Bucky had been through few months alone, and you knew it had been hard on him
But whenever you had tried to ask him about it he simply smiled and said “I’m fine, Doll. I’m okay.”
But you couldn’t help but notice that it didn’t reach his eyes.
He was trying so hard to be strong, to push down how he was feeling, but you saw the seams starting to unravel
All the pain he’d been feeling for months finally came to a head late one night
You two were doing dishes after dinner, you were washing and he was drying
Occasionally, Bucky would bump his hip against yours, making you smile and gently splash water at him, making him laugh
You and your boyfriend loved this, just enjoying each other’s presence with the two of you being giant dorks together
Everything was good, you two were having fun
Until Bucky went to dodge one of your splashes and lost his grip on the glass he was drying.
The glass shattered on the floor below, and he immediately went tense.
“Oh God, Bucky!” You grabbed his flesh hand gently, checking for injury, “are you okay?”
He didn’t reply, but looked down at you touching his hand
“I don’t see any injuries. You’re alright, Sweetheart. I’m gonna clean up the glass, okay?” You pressed a kiss to his stubbly cheek, but he didn’t look up.
Cleaning up the shattered glass went quickly, but when you finished you noticed Bucky was staring blankly at the floor where you’d cleaned, his blue eyes misty
“Bucky?” You cupped his face, but he still wouldn’t look at you, “Talk to me Sweetheart, what's wrong?"
“N-nothing,” his voice was soft, like he was trying his hardest to keep it from wavering, “I’m fine, Doll.”
“If you can look me in the eyes and say that, I’ll believe you.”
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” it was almost a chant as he slowly lifted his head, “I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m–”
As soon as Bucky looked you in the face he burst into sobs, falling to his knees in front of you.
It tore a hole in your chest.
“Oh…” you knelt down in front of him, wrapping your arms around him and pulling him close, cradling his head against your shoulder, “oh Baby, oh, Bucky…”
He buried his face in your neck as you rocked him from side to side, your fingers carding through his hair, “shhhh, it’s alright, let it out, Baby Boy, let it all out…”
“H-He was my best friend,” Bucky whimpered, “h-he was my best friend, and he…he j-just fucking left me here–!”
“Oh, Baby, I know,” you kissed his temple, “I know. I’m so sorry, Sweet Boy…”
You held him tighter as he dissolved into sobs again. It broke your heart.
You knew that this was good for him, that Bucky had been fighting this for so long
He needed the release, the catharsis, but that didn’t mean it didn’t fill your broken heart with anger.
Anger at Steve for leaving the man in your arms behind in a world he didn’t understand, at the Government agents that treated him like a criminal for things that he had been forced to do when he had no control over his mind and body, at anyone who had ever caused this kind, sweet, gentle, loving man harm and left him unable to feel his emotions properly until he reached his absolute breaking point
When Bucky calmed down again you suggested moving to the couch
“It’ll be a lot more comfortable than the floor, Baby,” you said, gently taking his hand in yours and leading him to the living room
Once you two were seated you wrapped him in your arms again, keeping him close and rocking him.
“Talk to me, Baby, please,” you cupped his face, thumbing away his tears, “tell me what’s going on in that head of yours.”
“It’s… I wasn’t worth it.” Bucky said in a quiet, broken voice, “I told Steve I wasn’t, back when he… when we were on our way to Siberia. He tried to tell me that I was, and being with you, in Wakanda, when I was finally free I started to think that maybe he was right, maybe I was worth saving. That I was deserving of some kind of peace. But then Steve–”
His voice cracked, and you gave him a comforting hug.
“I just keep thinking that if I was really worth what you all went through for me then he– he wouldn’t have left me here alone."
Tears flowed freely again, and you hugged him tightly to you, pressing comforting kisses to his temple
“Shhhhh, Baby Boy, it’s alright,” you whispered, “it’s gonna be alright…”
Bucky shook his head and buried his face further into your neck
“I just… it makes it hard, y’know?” You nodded and kissed his forehead, he took a deep breath and added, “I’m scared. I keep thinking that one day I’m gonna wake up and you’re not gonna be there. T-that you’re gonna realize the same thing he did. That I’m not worth all of this.”
“Oh… Oh no, oh, Bucky…” You rubbed his back, pressing kisses to the top of his head, “oh, Honey…”
You cradled his head against your chest, running your fingers through his hair and hushing him, rocking him from side to side.
Once he’d calmed down slightly you took his face in both hands, stroking his stubbly cheeks.
“Baby? Can you look at me, please?” His sad blue eyes met yours, and you gently wiped the tears from them.
“I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry Bucky. I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through, Baby. And I’m especially sorry that you were made to think like that.”
Bucky looked you in the eyes. No one had ever said that to him before.
“and speaking as someone who was involved in all of that trouble? You were absolutely worth it. Every minute of it. The two years Sam, Steve, and I spent looking for you, every fight, every bit of time spent on the run, every moment spent waiting for Shuri to okay letting you out of the ice in Wakanda. I would go through every second of it again if it meant that you got to be free, Sweet Boy. Even if you weren’t the man I love, even if you weren’t Steve’s best friend, even if you were just some guy I had no attachment to, I would fight just as hard if it meant you got to be safe and free from those monsters. Because you didn’t deserve HYDRA’s abuse, and you didn’t deserve to be punished for things you couldn’t control.”
He rested his hands over yours, and you pressed your forehead against yours
“I know it’s hard to trust anyone after what Steve did, I know. But I would never, ever leave you alone. I’m with you for the long haul, Sweetheart. You’ll always be worth it in my eyes."
His eyes searched your face, looking for any sign that it wasn’t true, and found nothing but genuine love and care. You gave him a soft sad smile.
“I’ll be here, right by your side, as long as you want me, Baby,” you kissed the tip of his nose, “you aren’t alone anymore, Buck. You’ll never be alone again.”
Bucky dissolved into tears in your arms again
“I-I’m sorry,” he cried over and over into your shoulder, embarrassed at his carrying on, “‘m sorry I keep cryin’...”
“Shhhhh….” you continued rocking him and rubbing his back, “you don’t have to apologize for expressing your emotions, Sweetheart. You’re allowed to feel bad. You’re allowed to let it out. I’ll be here for you.”
You held Bucky until he calmed down, and he let you lead him into the bathroom to clean his face with a cool cloth, not wanting the salt from his tears to irritate his skin, and showering him with affection and love.
When you two finally laid down to sleep that night you held the man you loved as close as humanly possible, pressing little kisses to his hairline and rubbing his back
Bucky nestled into your chest, listening to your heartbeat and relishing the feeling of skin-to-skin contact
“Get some sleep, Baby Boy,” you whispered, “I’ll always be here when you wake up. I love you so much, my Darling.”
Bucky looked up at you, a small but genuine smile on his face.
The first you had seen in the months since Thanos
“I love you too.” he kissed your lips, “goodnight, Doll.”
As Bucky drifted off in your arms, he felt better.
Lighter.
Better than he had in months.
He wasn’t cured, he knew that.
The demons of his past still haunted him, still clawed at the edges of his mind and whispered that he wasn’t worth the pain
But knowing that he wasn’t alone, that you would stay by him and support him through even his darkest days?
That you wouldn’t leave no matter what?
Maybe he could finally start to heal

Captain America: Civil War - 2
Summary: After Peggy's funeral, Steve, Sam and you go to Bucharest to track down Bucky before the FBI kills him, or at least tries to.
Pairing: Avengers x Reader
Warnings: Descriptions of violence. Language. My poor attempts at being funny.
Word Count: 2.6K
A/N: Here's part two of Civil War and the first look into a Bucky x Reader relationship! That's my goal, anyway. Hope you enjoy!
Masterlist | Series Masterlist
It’s been a sad few days for Steve, he’s been crying a lot after the news that Peggy died.
You and Sam offered to go with him to the funeral so now you’re both sitting in the first row as Steve and five other guys carry the coffin.
“And now, I would like to invite Sharon Carter to come up and say a few words.” the priest says and Steve’s old neighbor Agent 13, steps up to the podium.
Your eyes widen a little in shock and elbow Sam while looking at her, then Sam nudges Steve and nods to her.
“Margaret Carter was known to most as a founder of SHIELD… but I just knew her as Aunt Peggy.” Sharon starts the eulogy and you look at Steve who's just as surprised to see her. “She had a photograph in her office. Aunt Peggy standing next to JFK. As a kid, that was pretty cool. But it was a lot to live up to. Which is why I never told anyone we were related.”
She looks directly at Steve before continuing. “I asked her once how she managed to master diplomacy and espionage in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. And she said, compromise where you can. But where you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move… it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye and say ‘No. You move.’.”
Her words hit you deep, and you’re sure they hit Steve deep, too.
Peggy was clearly a very smart woman, and the fact that she helped found SHIELD and was such a badass made her your inspiration when you were a trainee and ever since you became an agent. Sharon’s words just made you more and more sure that not signing the Accords is the right thing to do.
-
After the funeral Steve asks you and Sam for a moment alone, so you hug him before letting him have some peace, making your way to the hotel you’re all staying at with Sam.
You’re in the hotel bar when the news comes on with the bombing in Vienna. You and Sam exchange a worried glance and set out to find Steve right away.
You find him near the elevators with Sharon just as the elevator arrives.
“Thanks for walking me back.” Sharon says and as Steve answers “Sure” you get close to them.
“Steve.” you grab his attention.
“There’s something you gotta see.” Sam finishes.
We all go up to Sharon’s hotel room to turn on the news that’s all about the UN bombing in Vienna and how the culprit is believed to be James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier HYDRA asset and formerly known as Sergeant Barnes, Steve’s best friend.
They talk about the death of King T’Chaka and you look at Steve who seems as concerned as you are as you quietly say. “That’s not good.” And he agrees with a nod.
“I have to go to work.” Sharon says and you all know what has to be done.
-
Sam, Steve and you flew to Vienna with Sharon and now you and Sam are in a coffee shop waiting for Steve while he talks to Natasha.
“How can you eat at a time like this?!” you whisper shout to Sam, annoyed.
“What am I supposed to do, starve?” He answers and you roll your eyes but before you can say anything back, Steve steps next to him.
“She tell you to stay out of it?” you ask him, knowing Natasha pretty well.
“Might have a point.” Sam comments casually.
“He'd do it for me.” Steve says back.
“1945, maybe.” Sam says and you roll your eyes and try to be a little more sensitive than Sam.
“I just want to make sure we consider all our options.” you gently say, but Sam cuts in.
“Yeah, the people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at us.” He says and can’t really fight him on that, he’s not wrong.
Sharon appears next to Steve and starts talking quietly without looking at any of us.
“Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public. Everybody thinks the Winter soldier goes to their gym. Most of it is noise. Except for this.” She slides Steve a file. “My boss expects a briefing, pretty much now, so that's all the head start you're gonna get.”
“Thank you.” Steve says as he takes the file.
“And you're gonna have to hurry. We have orders to shoot on sight.” she says and leaves as the three of you exchange a worried glance. Without wasting any time, you make your way out of the coffee shop and to the airport, destination: Bucharest.
-
You get to the right address and go separate ways. Sam gets to the roof of the building that Steve enters to look for Barnes and you go to the roof of the other building, where you have an eye on both Sam and, thanks to the scope on your rifle, you can see Steve even through the covered windows.
You see Steve enter the small apartment and look around, then he goes to the kitchen and picks up what looks like a notebook and opens it. Then you hear Sam’s voice through the comms.
“Heads up, Cap. German Special Forces approaching from the south.” You notice movement behind Steve as Sam talks.
“Understood.” Steve says as you see Barnes has entered the apartment.
“Steve, turn around.” You tell him through the comms and he slowly does.
“Do you know me?” You can hear Steve ask, but can’t hear Bucky’s response because he's talking too quietly.
“They've set the perimeter.” Sam says, but you’re still focused on Bucky inside the building.
“I know you're nervous. And you have plenty of reason to be.” You hear Steve say, “But you're lying.” You can see Bucky’s lips moving, but at this angle you can’t really read his lips.
“They're entering the building.” Sam says and you finally take your attention away from the apartment and look around the building as you hear Steve talk.
“Well, the people who think you did are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking you alive.”
“Sam, they’re on the roof.” You say through the comms.
“She’s right, I'm compromised.” He says.
“This doesn't have to end in a fight, Buck.” Steve says.
“5 seconds.” Sam says in your ear.
“You pulled me from the river. Why?” Steve keeps trying to get through to Bucky.
“3 seconds!” You say as you see them about to breach the apartment.
“Yes, you do!” Steve almost yells before you hear Sam yelling in your ear.
“Breach! Breach! Breach!” you see a grenade crash through the window. Bucky kicks it to Steve, and he smothers it with his shield.
You see Bucky shielding himself with the mattress against an attack from the window, then he blocks the door with a table as cops swing in on cables. Steve pulls the rug from under a policeman, sending him flying. Bucky slams another policeman into the wall.
“Buck, stop! You're gonna kill someone.” you hear Steve say before Bucky slams him down and punches a hole in the floor right next to his face.
You faintly hear him say, “I'm not gonna kill anyone.” Before he pulls something out the floor, throws it out the building and it lands near you.
You’re about to go see what’s in it but are distracted by Bucky and Steve hiding behind the shield together before Bucky shoves Steve into a cop and you have to stop yourself from laughing.
Bucky holds up his metal hand and repels bullets, then slams a cop into some shelves. He picks up a large cement brick and slams it into a cop and you can see Steve fighting another cop on the balcony.
You see Bucky punch through the wall beside the door. He steps into the hallway and you lose sight of him, a second later Steve steps into the hallway and you lose him too.
“You have a visual, Sam?” You ask through the comms and he answers with a simple ‘No’.
You hear Steve say “Come on, man.” and hear his grunting as he fights.
After a minute you hear Steve say “Y/N, he’s coming your way.” and you frown.
“What do you mean he’s-” Before you can answer you can see Bucky jumping out a balcony and you let out a quiet “Holy shit.” that makes Steve groan and Sam snicker.
Bucky lands not too far away from you and, before he can get to his backpack, you put yourself in front of him so he can’t get to it.
“Hello, soldier.” you say in a teasing and vaguely flirting tone, but he simply looks at you for half a second before throwing a punch that you avoid and quickly say “Not a talker. Got it.” Before throwing a punch of your own that he easily stops, holding your arm as he sweeps your legs and in a second you’re on the ground.
Bucky picks up his backpack and runs, but a big man all dressed in black, a full face mask with pointed ears, slams into him and knocks him down. He extends his fingers and sharp claws pop out and he attacks Bucky with sweeping kicks and slashes.
Bucky fights back but is kicked into a wall, the figure swipes his claws and spins gracefully. Bucky narrowly avoids being slashed, holding up a metal bar to protect himself.
You get up and get closer to them to try and help Bucky. You kick the man off of him and protect Bucky by standing in front of him in a fighting stance.
“Bad kitty.” you tell him and can hear Steve and Sam simultaneously say “Seriously, Y/N?”
“Sam, southwest rooftop.” you hear Steve say as the cat man lunges at you.
“Who the hell's the other guy?” Sam asks.
“About to find out.” Steve answers while you try your best to not get killed by the overgrown cat you’re fighting at the moment. The man manages to slam you into a wall and lunges at Bucky with his claws, but Bucky grabs his wrists.
You’re about to help but a soldier fires a machine gun from a chopper, the ammo bounces off the man’s armored suit who’s now on top of Bucky, but you’re forced to hide to avoid the bullets.
You hear Steve call for Sam’s help and Sam answers with a “Got him.” before he flies down and shoves the chopper off course, then swoops towards street level.
Bucky breaks free from his attacker, slings his bag on his back, runs and jumps down a level, and the other man slides down the wall using his claws for traction. Bucky lands at street level and the chase continues. Steve follows and lands rolling along the ground.
You watch them from the edge of the roof and sigh. “Okay, I can’t do that.” You look up in search of Sam. “Sam, I need a ride.”
“I got you.” He says as he swoops down and picks you up, taking flight again to follow the others while you hang on to him for dear life.
Gunfire from the chopper tears up the sidewalk, Bucky jumps down through an opening, lands in an underpass and he runs through the traffic. Cat Suit and Steve drop down and chase after Bucky as a Special Forces Vehicle pursues all of them.
You see Steve leap onto the vehicle and splinter the windshield and, when the driver stops, Steve yanks him from the vehicle and kicks the windshield out, then drives off.
Bucky runs over the top of a speeding car, outpacing it and Cat Suit is a few cars behind, keeping pace with him. Then he leaps on the back of the 4x4 that Steve's driving and Steve swerves from side to side, trying to throw him off.
“Sam, I can't shake this guy.” He says into the comms.
“We’re right behind you.” Sam says as you fly behind him.
Several police cars join the chase and you see Steve side-swipe another car and drive on.
Bucky leaps over a barrier and Steve drives through it, then you can see Bucky grab the handlebar of an incoming motorcycle and spin the bike around in mid air, throwing the rider off as he gets on the bike himself, riding away and sending cars careering out of the way.
Steve keeps on Bucky's tail with Cat Suit holding onto the back of his car. They all rocket through another underpass and Sam flies into the underpass.
Cat Suit leaps off the front of Steve’s car onto Bucky's motorbike and Bucky flings him over his head and the bike leans down on its side. Bucky kicks his assailant away, straightens up and rides on.
Cat Suit catches a ride on one of Sam’s legs and Sam tries to kick him away. Bucky throws a sticky bomb and blows up the roof at the end of the underpass, bringing down tons of rubble.
Sam tells you to hang on and you can feel his grip tighten on you as he stops and throws the Cat Suit man into the rubble. He throws Bucky off the motorcycle as Steve swerves the car through the rubble and leaps out, running as Bucky and the Cat roll on the ground.
When they stop the Cat is on Bucky right away but Steve jumps on him and pulls him off Bucky.
Steve stands up, facing the sleek and muscular overgrown black cat as the police arrive and surround you all, guns aimed. War Machine leaps down from above and raises both his suit hands, guns drawn.
“Stand down, now.” Rhodey says, aiming at Bucky and Steve who are standing side by side and at the Cat Suit Guy. Steve puts his shield on his back again as Rhodey continues. “Congratulations, Cap. You're a criminal.”
Police move in and force Bucky to his knees. The Cat raises his hands as a cop moves Steve's arms behind his back and you and Sam are also handcuffed and brought closer to the others by two police men. The cat retracts his claws and pulls off his mask revealing his face and you’re all shocked to see it’s King T'Challa.
“Your highness.” Rhodey says as Bucky's hauled flat on the ground and getting handcuffed.
-
You all get arrested, forced to change out of our suits and gears and taken to Berlin. Bucky is restrained inside a glass-walled pod surrounded by armed guards.
In an SUV sits T’Challa on front, then you, then Steve and last Sam. You’re quietly going through traffic until Sam very respectfully breaks the silence. “So, you like cats?”
“Sam.” Steve warns him while you snort in amusement, looking out the window to avoid what you’re sure will be a disappointed glare from Steve.
“What?” Sam continues. “Dude shows up dressed like a cat and you don't wanna know more?”
“Your suit…” Steve ignores Sam and addresses T’Challa. “Is it Vibranium?”
“The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations. A mantle, passed from warrior to warrior.” T’Challa finally speaks up. “And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of king.” Oh, no. “So, I ask you... as both warrior and king... how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?”
The silence that follows is deafening, as none of you know or want to give an answer to that, and you’re sure T’Challa doesn’t expect one.
“Sorry about King T’Chaka…” You say quietly after a moment.
“Don’t worry, miss Y/LN. He will be vindicated.” He answers back without missing a beat.
You look back at Steve and Sam and they both look as worried as you feel.
This is not going to end well, is it?

Masterlist | Fluffcember Masterlist
This day would be very special. You go ice skating with your friends, Steve, Peggy and Bucky. When Steve asked you to come with them, you weren’t sure at first because the last time you went ice skating a few years ago, you fell pretty hard and hurt yourself. You’ve been scared ever since and didn’t want to go ice skating anymore.
You insisted on not going again until your best friend Bucky showed up at your apartment one day. He spoke to you and told you that he would not leave your side, and nothing could happen to you. Because of his charm and gentle tone, you couldn’t say no and changed your mind.
You were about to put your shoes on when there was a knock on your door. You immediately started smiling because that had to be Bucky. Your best friend Bucky and the person you secretly have a crush on. You walked to the door, opened it and saw Bucky standing in front of you with a soft smile.
“Hey, doll.”
“Hey, Buck.” You greeted each other with a hug.
“Ready to go ice skating?” Bucky asked and you could tell that you were still a little afraid to get back on the ice. You shook your head and then looked away. Bucky reached for your hand and squeezed it.
“Oh, doll. You don’t have to be afraid. Remember, I won’t leave your side and Steve and Peggy are there too.” Bucky said and you looked back at him.
“You’re right Buck, but I’m still a little scared.” Bucky smiled softly at you and then said:
“That’s okay, doll. But I promise I won’t let you fall, and we can leave whenever you want, okay?”
“Okay, thanks Bucky.”
“You’re welcome, doll.” You suddenly noticed that Bucky was still holding your hand, you blushed and then quickly let go of it.
“Let’s go, not that Steve and Peggy have to wait for us.”
“It’s okay they can wait.” You giggled when Bucky said that but then you shook your head.
“Let’s go.” You said and Bucky nodded. You walked out of your apartment door and to Bucky’s car. He walked to the passenger side to open the car door for you.
“Thank you, Sergeant Barnes.” Bucky chuckled but you know he loves it when you call him that, and you do too. You remember the first time he came to your apartment in his uniform and invited you to go to Stark expo with him. You had a great time there, but you were sad that he had to leave soon. Luckily, he came back safe and sound.
“You’re welcome, doll.” You sat down and Bucky did as well. During the drive, you and Bucky talked about all kind of things and how excited you were to see Steve and Peggy again.
After a while Bucky parked the car in front of the ice-skating center. You could already see Steve and Peggy waiting there. You and Bucky walked over, greeted them both and then decided to go inside to get some skates. When you went to pay, Bucky insisted on paying for you. You all picked out your skates and walked to a bench to put your shoes on. When you tried to put them on, you felt nervousness coming up.
“Let me help you, doll.” Bucky said, kneeling down and helping you put your skates on. Then he stood up again, smiled softly at you and held out his hand to you. You took his hand and stood up from the bench with a smile and a slight blush on your cheeks.
“Thanks, Buck.” You said and then looked at the ice where a few people were skating. Your smiled faded and you looked back at Bucky.
“We can wait here a few minutes if you want.” You nodded and Bucky smiled at you.
“Okay.” He said and you both looked at the people on the ice for a few minutes until Steve walked up to you.
“Hey, are you two coming?”
“Yeah, we are coming.”
“Are you sure, doll?” Bucky asked and you nodded. Then you walked over to where Steve and Peggy were standing. You could see how both of them got on the ice very quickly and started to circle the ice surface perfectly while you and Bucky walked very slowly onto the ice. You took a deep breath and Bucky held your left hand and you held onto the railing with your other hand.
“Don’t worry, doll. I’m right here.” Bucky gave you a soft smile and you tried to move forward. Bucky didn’t let go of your hand, not even when you felt more confident on the ice. When you were about to do your second round on the ice, you somehow lost your balance and were about to fall, but Bucky caught you just in time.
“I’ve got you, doll. I’ve got you.” He whispered as you held on to him like your life depended on it. You took a few deep breaths and looked into his beautiful eyes.
“Thank you, Buck.”
“You’re welcome, doll.” He spoke. You paused for a moment and looked at Steve and Peggy, remembering that you were actually here with them and not only with Bucky.
“Why are we?” You began to say.
“Even here with them?” But Bucky finished your sentence and you nodded.
“I’m not sure, doll.” Bucky said and you chuckled.
“Let’s go for another round?” You asked and you and Bucky started doing a few rounds on the ice. Bucky never left your side or let go of your hand. After a few minutes you even let go of the railing and continued driving in the middle of the ice. You started to really enjoy your time with Bucky on the ice and you smiled at each other as you did the rounds. You didn’t really saw Steve or Peggy, but you didn’t care at the moment, you were just so happy to have Bucky by your side. You had such a fun and wonderful time with Bucky.
Until suddenly a guy was moving so fast on the ice that he collided with you. You were struggling to keep the balance, and so was Bucky. You both fell on the ground, and you landed on top of him. You immediately blushed because you had never been so close before. It was like time stopped for a second until a few people shouting brought you and Bucky back to reality.
“Are you okay?” You both asked at the same time, giggling which made Bucky smile. Still laying on top of him, you quickly stood up and held your hand up for him. He chuckled, took your hand and then stood up. You were now standing very close to each other, holding hands, when suddenly his hand was on your cheek. He moved closer to you and was about to kiss you when Steve interrupted you and Bucky.
“Are you two okay?” He asked worriedly.
“Yeah, we’re okay.” You replied.
“Are you sure, you both fell pretty hard.”
“We are fine, punk.” Bucky said back, making Steve smile.
“Okay, good.” Steve said and drove away again. Bucky looked over at you and you looked at him with a soft smile.
“Can we take a break?” You asked shily.
“Of course, we can do that.” Bucky said, taking your hand and walking with you out of the rink. You went to a bench and sat next to each other.
“Would you like some hot chocolate?” Bucky asked and you nodded.
“Okay, you stay there, and I’ll bring us some hot chocolate.” While Bucky walked to the hot chocolate stand, you started thinking about the almost kiss between the two of you. You began to wonder what it would feel like to kiss him and how his lips would feel on yours. You smiled to yourself.
“What made you smile like this, doll?” Bucky asked as he came back and gave you your hot chocolate.
“Oh, nothing.”
“Doesn’t look like nothing.”
“Maybe I was thinking about- “You wanted to say more, but were interrupted again by Steve and Peggy, who also sat down next to you with hot chocolate. You talked for a while and drank your cup hot chocolate. After a while, Steve and Peggy decided it was time to go. You and Bucky stayed for a while, but unfortunately you didn’t end up kissing again.
“I think we should go home now, doll.” Bucky said after a while when you were back in the middle of the ice.
“Okay, But I want to do this again.”
“With me?” Bucky asked.
“Only you.” Bucky chuckled when you said that.
“Absolutely, because I don’t want to be interrupted the next time, I want to kiss you.
“How about you kiss me now?” You asked shily.
“Do you really want that kiss, doll?” Bucky asked and you nodded. Then he smiled and moved closer to you. Bucky tucked a hear behind your ear and then cupped your cheek. His lips touched yours gently and when you pulled away you smiled at each other and he kissed your cheek.

(I'll Be) Home for Christmas - Steggy Fic Preview
Summary: December 1946: The Valkyrie is found - with Steve Rogers alive inside of it. But when he wakes up, he learns that there was a cost to his rescue – one that Steve’s not willing to let lie.
Not without a fight.
A/N: Merry Steggymas @rachlovesligers I'm your secret santa! You said you enjoy either wartime or Agent Carter setting, a bit of angst before a happy ending, and Peggy going on missions with the Howlies, so I hope you enjoy this! (It's compliant with season 1 of Agent Carter, and then that's where we diverge, though you'll see many familiar faces throughout).
Unfortunately for us both, it got a little out of hand, and it's going to take me more time before I can post the fully finished fic. But for now, please enjoy this little snippet! Thanks to @steggyfanevents for hosting!
Fic Preview:
He wakes up and instantly regrets it.
The lights were blinding, the machines he’s hooked up to were whirring loudly, and underneath the smell of a fully sterilized hospital room, there was the distinct stench of Howard’s cologne burning into his nostrils.
The realization that Howard’s here (wherever the hell here was) forced Steve to open his eyes anew, because if Howard was here then that must mean-
“Peggy?” he croaked.
“Just me, pal,” Howard told him, his smile strained, though Steve didn’t have much of a chance to take it in before Howard was flitting about him, checking his vitals, making notes and muttering to himself. “And boy am I glad to see you. I mean I’ve been staring at your beautiful unconscious mug for the last five days but seeing you awake-”
“Howard-” Steve began, grunting with the strain of the effort to sit up.
“Hey hey hey none of that, we’re still not sure the extent of the damage,” Howard told him, placing a hand on his shoulder to settle him back against the pillows (of which there had to be at least three).
“Damage?”
“It’s not every day we thaw a man who’s fully frozen. You might be remarkable but it’s clear we still don’t know where your limits actually end, especially now that you’ve reverted back from being a giant capsicle.”
“I was frozen?” Steve gaped.
“It’s how you survived the crash,” Howard explained, and though Steve was still shaking his head in disbelief, the other man moved ceaselessly around him as he worked. “The serum caused you to go into a hibernation state so we’ve had to wake you up gently and carefully, so to speak. Even then, it's been nothing but miracle after miracle with you. We were hoping to find a body to bring home but to find you perfectly intact – with a beating heart no less – and after all this time-”
“How long has it been?” Steve interjected, causing Howard to pause, if only for a moment. “Since we stormed Schmidt’s fortress?”
“It... Almost nine months, pal.”
Steve’s stomach twisted into painful knots.
“Peggy-”
“She’s not here,” Howard interrupted before he could even begin to finish his thought, needle and syringe in hand. “Now enough talking, I need you to stop moving so I can-”
“Where is-”
“Sit still-”
“Howard. Where’s Peggy?”
For the first time since he’d woken up, Howard properly stopped and looked at Steve, his gaze equal parts uncertain and sad, and it dawned on Steve that everything could have changed – it all did change – in the last nine months, and it was very much within the realm of possibility that Peggy had moved on. Not only did he miss their date, he’s been dead, after all.
Steve could feel his heart sink as he voiced his fear aloud.
“Did… Does she not want to see me?”
“She does,” Howard told him quietly, but firmly. “I-we-she was with me, searching for you this last time that I went. Hell, she’s the sole reason we got you back here in one piece.”
“Then where is she?”
Howard opened and closed his mouth several times before finally setting the needle and syringe on the bedside table and sitting down on the chair beside Steve’s hospital bed. Steve watched his friend wring his hands for several long moments before finally looking him dead in the eyes, expression grim.
“Hydra has her.”

"Silent Waves and First Embrace" - a prequel to "His Angel"
Title: "Silent Waves and First Embrace" - a prequel to "His Angel"
Characters/Pairings: Post!Endgame!Steve Rogers x Female!Adoptive!Stark!Virgin!Reader
Summary: The beginning of the Reader's and Steve's new "relationship".
Word Count: 3k+
Reader is in her 20s and Steve is in his mid 30s.
Minors DNI! Please and thank you!
Contents/Warnings: Lack of self care, grief, mentions of multiple major character deaths, talks of death, depression, talks of not eating, but not an eating disorder, talks about wanting to die, not suicide, reader has an anxiety attack, reader has trauma and ptsd, it's just an overall shit show, but I promise it ends well, grab tissues, hopefully I listed them all, if I didn't please let me know!
Author's Note: Grab your tissues and get ready to cry. Here's the prequel! I'm so happy this is finally out of my drafts! I know I promised this like weeks ago, but I wanted to get it perfect. I was going to make this into two parts, but I figured out a way to weave them together. I used Y/n to refer to the reader. I changed some of the plot in Endgame. The major change (which I would like to apologize in advance for, I know some people will not like it) is that the reader was with Nat and Clint on Vormir. If you read part one of His Angel, you know that Steve never went back to Peggy. I kept Steve passing down the mantle of Captain America to Sam, I just didn't write about it. Steve is like a secret consultant to the avengers that only a few people know about, that's the vibe I'm going with. I made the reader a paralegal, it was the first thing that came to mind. Part two of His Angel is in the works and I'm also going to write a part three!
I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors. I'm only human. Do not repost my work anywhere. Likes and reblogs are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for all the love and support on part one! Peace and love, enjoy. 🤍
Star Divider by: @enchanthings ⭐
Today was one of those days when the big and brave Captain America just wanted to be Steve Rogers. A scrawny little kid from Brooklyn. He wanted to leave the flood gates open, with all his emotions on the table. Instead, he'd put on his Captain's hat to bear in front of the team. To unity them in a time of immense grief. He'd convince everyone that he was fine and that everything was going to be okay, even when the world had just lost their best defender. Steve had to be the one to hold up the torch. He would shine the light in this new and dark reality, that they would come to accept eventually.
He looked into the mirror to check if his tie was in place, when he heard a knock at his door. Steve wasn't expecting anyone. He checks through the peep hole and sees no one, he doesn't sense any danger. Opening his door, he looks down to see a package addressed to him. He couldn't find a name of the sender anywhere. He picks it up and looks around again before closing and locking the door. Opening the package, he finds a cube. Taking it out, he places it on the kitchen table, noticing a small light start to blink.
"Friday is this thing on? Oh, wait. I got it!" Tony Stark appears in the hologram flesh.
"Hopefully you can hear me, and see me, new tech! Cool right, life size me or past life size me I should say." Steve stood in awe. It had been a while since he heard and saw his friend. He sits down at the table.
"So I recorded a few of these. I update them about every few years or so. You know, to stay current with whatever world disaster decides to strike the planet. Your name was added to the list this year, only a lucky bunch has the honor of receiving one. Cue the confetti!" Actual confetti bursted out from the cube.
"Ah! Tony!" Now Steve's floor was covered in an unexpected and definitely not welcomed rainbow surprise. Leaving him slightly annoyed, slightly. A few pieces landing in his hair. He shakes his head to get them out, vowing to clean the rest of the mess up later. Steve was already running late as it was to Tony's memorial.
"Like that feature?" Tony smirked, "Yeah, I only did that to yours." Steve rolls his eyes at the late billionaire. Of course.
"Obviously, I'm dead, no shocker there, it was going to happen at some point. Now you probably wonder, what could this schmuck possibly want from beyond the grave. Well, it's about Y/n. I'm calling in a favor Cap. With Nat and I gone, I honestly don't know who to trust more with the one person who can't trust at all. I don't know a better man for the job, or I'd be knocking at his door instead."
"I left the other non-biological child to Happy, he's too much of a fanboy of yours. Sure, he'll take everything you say in, but that would be boring for you, too easy. As for Morgan and Pepper, they'll have Y/n, but someone needs to be there for her first, because she's going to want to be there for everyone else, but herself. Which is where you come in." Steve couldn't believe what Tony was saying.
"Let's be real, you need a new challenge anyway. Life was gonna get pretty dull without us. I know you though. You can't run away from a problem. You always need something to fix or in this case, someone. All you gotta do is show up and listen. She somehow finds a crack, slips through, and rebuilds herself. It'll take awhile. She just needs a little glue now and then. Reassurance. The only thing I would say is, if she asks for a hug, that's when I know something is really wrong, and then the worry kicks in." This was a side of Tony that Steve rarely saw.
"In all seriousness, I know we never talked about what happened after the accords, we chose sides, two different extremes. We kinda just had a mutual understanding and shelved it. Especially since, "the planet being at stack" was looming over our heads again. Now I come to you at the time of my possible death. It's fitting honestly, we could never really have these types of conversations, without something going to shit to get us here."
"I can't shake this feeling that death is- might, might be knocking at my doorstep soon, and leaving the people I love the most behind, scares me." Tony took a long pause.
"I'm sorry." Two words that Steve never thought he would ever hear Tony utter out. He could hear the heaviness it carried. The apology wasn't just for the accords. It was for everything that had happened between them, throughout the years of knowing each other.
"I can't force you. I've attempted that before, it didn't go so great if we both recall. You could just ignore this message entirely, heck send it to the moon! I did install that feature by the way, for your entertainment. For how many times you did want to rocket me up there, now you can." Tempting. Steve continued to listen.
"I know this is a big ask, especially coming from me, and if taking her on is a burden, I understand. No judgment. I know that you always wanted to "get a life", finally rest, but, this is Y/n we're talking about. My daughter, Y/n. I took on the role of being a father to her way before I adopted her. I can't leave her to the wolves Steve. Someone needs to be there for her so she can be there for Pep and Morgan, because she is not going to let anyone else do that." Steve could see the earnestness in Tony's eyes. He felt a twinge of honor strike him that Tony would trust him with you. Your safety and well being took precedent. That was becoming abundantly clear to him.
"Well, I'm gonna go before this gets more awkward, it's completely out of character for us to sit here and have a pow-wow. Thank you for listening. Hopefully, you'll take my favor into consideration."
"I know I didn't say it much or ever but, Dad wasn't all that wrong, you can be pretty great sometimes. Thanks Cap, for everything."
The hologram shut down. Steve ponders on Tony's request. He wasn't wrong. Life was starting to get boring without them. Taking you on would be a challenge for sure, but defiantly not a burden. Steve likes you. Not in a romantic way (yet), but you were pleasant to be around, very cordial and respectful. You didn't cause problems and Nat always spoke highly of you. Your dark sense of humor did scare him sometimes though, but that wasn't anything new, he dealt with Tony's for years. You're also extremely resourceful and reliable on missions. Except Tony wasn't talking about taking care of you on missions. This was about the future. Your future, where a man who was and will always be a father to you, was now gone. Your life was being turned upside down. Steve knew in that moment that he couldn't turn his back on Tony, or on you.
Friday's voice pulls Steve back into reality.
"Would you like me to send this message to the moon Captain Rogers?" Steve lets out a deep laugh. Tony, you son of a bitch.
"As entertaining as that would be, no. Thank you Friday." the AI shuts down. Steve puts the cube away, intending for it to stay hidden forever. Before heading out the door, he looks into the mirror again. Captain face on, accepting his new mission. Ready to lead the team one final time, and ready to be there for you for the rest of his life.
It had been a few days since the memorial.
Happy took Morgan out for the day to give you and Pepper a break. To give you both time to focus on yourselves. Sadly, you were doing the complete opposite. You were dissociating. You couldn't bring your mind to the new reality you were facing. Most of your energy was focusing on the well being of Pepper and Morgan, and everyone else. Only reserving a small amount for yourself. Barely. You hadn't been eating either. What's the point. It's not like anyone noticed, or so you thought.
You sat in your bed, head against the window, looking out towards the lake. You were completely lost in your own world that you didn't notice Steve standing in your doorway until he knocked. It pulled you out of your trance to look in his direction.
"Can I come in?" Steve asked.
"Can't stop you." You shifted your eyes back towards the window. Steve's gaze was too piercing for yours. He sat down in the chair across from your bed. The silence started to engulf your room.
"Did you eat anything today?" He pried, you didn't say a word. He noticed your eyes shift slightly, you'd been caught. Your silence was enough for an answer. Also, Pepper had noticed and ratted you out to him.
"I was thinking of stopping at that diner down the road. Wanna join me?" Steve continued, he was met with more silence, he didn't like it. The silence and you loosing the will to take care of yourself. That job was in his hands now.
"Y/n?" You continued to not acknowledge him.
"Y/n, you have five seconds to agree or I'll put you over my should-" You cut him off.
"Yeah right, I'd love to see you try. I'm tired Steve."
"Oh I wonder why." You roll your eyes at his response. He didn't seem like he was going to leave anytime soon until he got what he wanted. Stubborn son of a bitch.
"Fine, I'll go, happy?" The sarcasm rolling off your tongue like a second language.
"Ecstatic. I'll grab your coat, meet me downstairs." Steve left you in your room. Once he got to the top of the steps, he took a deep breath. Tony, you left me an impossible task.
He went back downstairs, coming face to face with a worried Pepper.
"How is she?" Pepper asked, exhaustion plastered on her face.
"Best that she can be. I've convinced her to come with me and get some food. Hopefully she'll eat something." He gave her a small smile of hope.
"That's good, every time I try to ask, she gives me the same old "I'm fine." routine." Steve could tell Pepper was at a breaking point.
"Are you going to be okay Pepper?"
"I will be." She pauses. "Happy should be back soon with Morgan. He said he would stay a few more days here with us, keep us company." She tried to look convincing to the captain, but Steve saw right through. Tears started to fall from her eyes. Steve immediately embraced her in a hug which she greatly accepted.
"If you need anything, I'm a phone call away. You sure you don't want me to wait here until they get back? I don't mind at all." Steve assured her.
"The offer is incredibly sweet, but I'm positive. I'm okay, thank you Steve." She signed in solace as they pulled away from each other. They heard your footsteps coming down the stairs, Pepper quickly wiping her tears away. Steve turned to look at you. You looked so small, but also like you were going to set the world on fire, and not in a good way.
"Ready?" He asked, grabbing your coat and helping you put it on. You gave Pepper a hug and assured her that you'd be back soon. Pepper was relived that you were finally getting out of the house and doing something for yourself.
The drive was painfully silent. Steve wanted to know what was going on in your head. He guided you inside the diner, and asked for a booth in the back, away from the crowd.
He opened his menu and started to peruse. Taking a quick glance up at you. Your menu closed, head in hand and looking out the window.
"So, I hear you're a paralegal. What type of cases do you work on?" He asked, looking up from his menu, trying to strike up a conversation. Steve knows everyone grieves in different ways, he was trying to figure out yours. What he did figure out early on was that you're hard to read. Even with his heightened abilities, he couldn't pin point your emotions. Usually, Steve could read the terrain of any situation pretty well. Once in a blue moon, he could even read Nat, but you, you were uncharted waters.
"Really Rogers, you're asking me about my job?" You glance at him.
"Honestly Y/n I don't know what to do, I don't know what you need. I'm trying to navigate this. Please tell me what you need, or at least tell me what's going on in your head." You looked at him, finally turning the rest of your body to face him.
"Well for starters, you pulled me out of my room, which is the only place I ever feel safe, and two, we're in public. That's something I actively try to avoid."
"I just-" You cut him off.
"Right now, I want a bomb to drop on me, or Thor to strike me down with lightning. I've asked God to do it, but he won't answer."
"Y/n-" You cut him off again.
"Tony was right about you. All you do is intervene, and force your way into people's problems, until it's fixed your way. They end up just going insane! It's smothering! You're smothering Steve! You don't listen at all! Please, just listen. If you're asking me what I need, I just need someone to listen."
Listen. Tony did say to listen. Listening he could do, but he realized how difficult it would be for him. Everyone knows that Steve likes to fix problems, but he could listen or at least try his best to. It beats the silence you were giving him a minute ago. "Okay, I'll listen, lay it on me Y/n."
You starred at him blankly, surprised by his response. "Well, I- I got it all out now." You cross your arms, trying to close yourself off from him.
Steve's lips lift into a small smile. Your eyes meeting his. He's never really looked at you before until now. Your Bambi like eyes. How beautifully your hair fell, or the shape of your cute nose and inviting lips. Wait a minute.
"What'll it be?" A waitress appeared to take your order, snapping Steve back into the present from his daydream about you. He looks back at his menu, trying to make a quick decision of what he wanted. You turned your attention back towards the window again. You definitely weren't going to order at all. Steve gave the waitress his order and at the very last second, he squeezed in an order for you. Steve handed the menus back to the waitress and thanked her. As she walked off, you gave Steve a small glare.
"I said I would come, I didn't say I would order something." You huffed in annoyance.
"You didn't order, I did." You roll your eyes at him.
"I'm not eating it." So close, Steve thought. He thought he had actually gotten somewhere with you.
"Okay, I've listened, now you're going to listen." The captain's voice in him had activated. That got your attention real quick.
"I know you're hurting, horrifically. I don't expect a smile or a thank you from you or anything else for that matter. You're fuming and hurting beyond belief. But I need to make sure you're going to be okay and that you can take care of yourself. Pepper is worried. You taking care of everyone else but yourself is harming you. You're going to burn out Y/n! You know I can't let that happen to you! What would happen to Morgan if something happened to you. She can't loose you too." You turned away from him. Steve was hitting a nerve in you.
"Y/n, look at me." Steve gently commanded. Reaching out to lightly grab your hand to get your attention. You pulled away and looked back at him, your eyes starting to glaze.
"You don't get it." You voiced softly. You slid out of the booth and ran out of the diner. Steve called out to you. He got up and chased after you into the parking lot.
"Y/n! Y/n wait!"
"NO! You don't get it! They're gone Steve! Really really gone! They're not coming back and I'm left here alone and I- I can't-" You were hyperventilating, trying to catch your breath. You put your hands on your knees as your body was setting into a panic. Tony and Nat knew a version of you that no one else would ever know. You could be your complete and most vulnerable self with them. You couldn't be like that with anyone else. Ever.
Steve tried to approach you.
"No just-" You put a hand up to stop him from coming closer. Steve stopped in his tracks. You dropped to sit on the pavement, still trying to catch your breath. Steve felt a few tears start to prick at his eyes, the captain facade he'd been wearing was starting to melt away. The one thing that you were wrong about was that he did get it. They weren't coming back. The world regained everyone while you two lost part of the only family you ever knew.
"Morgan will never know the full capacity of her father's love. She only got to experience a fraction of what I got and I'm not even his daughter! I'm just an employee's child that was cast aside! That he decided to take pity on!" Steve knew that wasn't true, Tony thought the world of you.
"And Nat, I couldn't save her. I tried to convince her to let me jump, but she- she- right in front of-" You breathing was becoming erratic.
"She knew if she knocked out Clint first, I- I would be no match for her. I wasn't strong enough to stop her, and when she let- she let go of my-." The loss of breath came back tighter than ever. It felt like your body was going to collapse in on itself. You clutched your chest as your tears flooded down your cheeks. You couldn't finish that sentence. It was too excruciating to speak.
Steve was breaking on the inside for you. You were carrying a vast burden of guilt that you shouldn't have been carrying from the beginning. He would know, he'd be doing it his entire life. A few moments had passed when Steve heard your tiny plea.
"Can you hold me? Please?" It came out so quiet. You looked up at him, your whole being shattered. The worry that Tony had mentioned to Steve came over him. In an instant, he pulled you up into his arms. Trying to give off the most warm embrace he could emit. You felt so cold, he could feel your body go limp a little. You'd finally let a huge weight off your chest, and in a way, so did he. Steve may have given up the mantle of Captain America, but now he took on a new one.
Your protecter.
"Don't let me go." A few more tears trickled out. Your breathing settling back to a steady pace as you accepted Steve's warmth.
"I won't, I'm not going anywhere." Steve cradled you as close as he possible could to his chest. "I promise." A oath he was willing to keep and never break.
With the silence broken, and a new warmth found. They both realized that they needed each other more than ever. A friendship was born. Little did they know, it would blossom into something more.
Hope you enjoyed! 🤍

𝕺𝖚𝖙 𝖔𝖋 𝕿𝖎𝖒𝖊
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader
Summary: Whenever Steve was sick before the serum, you were there for him. But all these decades later, he finds just how much time he wasted back then.
Note: This is my submission for day one (drugging/sick/poisoned) of @ailesswhumptober! Does this count as whump? Probably not! Either way, I really wanted to be able to put something out, so here we are!
Warnings: Sickness, technically main character death (??), mention of medicine.
---------------------------------------------
ʙʀᴏᴏᴋʟʏɴ, 1930ꜱ
“For fuck’s sake, Steve. You’re sick. Now sit your ass down.” Bucky sighed, rubbing his hand over his face. The three of you, you, Bucky, and Steve, had been a trio since practically birth. You’d helped each other through a lot. Bucky always had his sights set on some beautiful lady, and your sights were set on Steve. You know, if he’d notice it.
“‘M not sick.” Steve slurred out, and you resisted the urge to laugh. His fever was high, and the pain medication only amplified the effects.
“Steve, you’re burning up and shivering at the same time. Just..at least sit on the couch.” You attempted to bargain with him. “Please? For me?”
“Fine.” He grumbled, plopping down on the couch. You glanced at Bucky, who was looking at you. Bucky shrugged slightly, not sure what to do.
“Thanks. Buck’s gonna go get you some soup, okay?” You sat down next to your smaller friend as Bucky walked a few steps away to the kitchen.
“M’kay.” Steve yawned.
“Are you feeling better? At least, compared to earlier?”
He nodded, still a bit loopy. Bucky came back with a bowl of soup, setting it down on the coffee table. “Eat up, punk.”
After he finished eating, you walked him to his bed, hoping that he wouldn't resist. And he didn’t, opting to quietly lay down. You sat on the edge of the bed, staring into his beautiful blue eyes.
“Stay?” He asked quietly, his small and ice-cold fingers finding their way to yours.
“Course I will, Steve.” Rubbing circles into the back of his hand with your thumbs, you let out a sigh. “I always will.”
He smiled at that. “I like you a lot, Y/n.”
“I like you too. A lot.”
He drifted off to sleep, his hand tucked in yours.
------------------------
ɴᴇᴡ ʏᴏʀᴋ ᴄɪᴛʏ, 2016
Steve’s eyes drifted away from his notebook at the faint sound of sneezing. A younger couple, maybe in their early twenties, walked hand-in-hand down the street. A woman and a man, the man significantly smaller than the woman. Steve noticed the way he looked at her, eyes filled with love and admiration. Her eyes were bright and excited, and she looked at him every so often as she talked about something.
They were both dressed in their cold weather clothing, scarves and gloves and hats and jackets. Steve smiled softly, imagining you like that.
The man coughed, more of a wheezing, painful sound. Steve winced. He didn’t have to imagine himself like that. He could remember it clearly, the struggle to breathe, his throat feeling like it had been clawed by a raccoon.
He missed you. He misses you every day. He was lucky to have Bucky back, and he was grateful. But that didn’t stop him from wanting you. Your kind smile, your gentle gaze. The way you made him feel less…less.
But you weren’t coming back. He was sure of it. Hell, he’d found your gravestone. You’d died unmarried, with no children. You’d become a nurse at a children’s hospital, which he'd found out from Natasha searching for information about you online.
Steve felt a pang of sorrow as he watched the couple walk farther down the street. With them, it felt like his past and everything he knew was walking away too. He wished he’d had more time to spend with you, to tell you how he’d really felt about you back then. He yearned for you, to be able to take back all of those times where he could’ve kissed you, yet didn’t. Before he knew it, he’d run out of time to spend with you. He couldn’t replace you. Not with Sharon, or Natasha, or Sam, or even Peggy. In a world full of people, people who idolized and adored him, people who dedicated their lives to collecting his trading cards, he still felt alone.
He truly was a man out of time.

I know where I belong. Part 10
----------------------------------------------------- Warning- Angst for Steve, Fluff for everyone. -----------------------------------------------------
“What the hell!” Nat shouts and grabs Sharon by her hair and starts to beat the shit out of her. Bucky just gave one look to Tony, who quickly gave him permission to go ahead. John pleaded and begged to have mercy on him. “She thought I work in higher authority with the Shield and started to flirt with me, I just went along. I’m sorry!!” Sharon was shocked to hear that “What do you mean I thought? You are not Director’s favorite person?” She asks in disbelief. Tony laughed clearly understanding the misunderstanding. “Did you just go to him because of what I said earlier?” Sharon nods frantically and Tony laughs again. “I said it in sarcasm, he is demoted from his position.” Tony clears it out for Sharon.
Sharon’s face was pale. Steve who was quiet all this time looked at her in rage. "How could you do this to me Sharon? After everything I've done for you, why?" Steve yells at her in disbelief fuming in anger "Steve listen to me it was a mistake.” she tried to plead with him. But Steve was in no mood to listen shaking his head and raising his hand up to stop her, "Everyone tried to warn me but I ignored them for you, for us." "They are just jealous because of Y/n that bitch" "Don't you dare talk ill about her" he shouts and warns her cutting her mid-sentence. "The saying is right 'once a cheater always a cheater'" Steve scoffs. "Oh, that’s rich coming from you, of all people!" She proudly scoffs at him. Bucky was quick to respond to her "What’s that supposed to mean? Huh? Because he cheated on Y/n with you?" "YES! That’s exactly what I mean!" she huffed out in frustration. "Get out!” Steve yells again, his vein popping in anger.
“You heard him.” You tell her proudly, standing next to Nat, Bucky right next to you, holding your hand. “Your bags are packed, you no longer have access to the tower. Bye bye bitch.” Nat smiles and tells her in a stern voice. Sharon looks at each one of you, in hopes someone will help her. But all she gets are angry glares. She gulps nervously and leaves.
After Sharon left, it took a week for things to go back to normal, well for Steve that is. He realized his mistake, what a fool he was to let go of you for something like Sharon. He was in deep realization of how different Peggy and Sharon are, but then there is you, different from both of them. Steve was determined to sort things out with you.
-----------------------
"Y/n I'm so sorry for everything, if you can you forgive me please." Steve looks at you with sad eyes hoping for forgiveness. "Thank you for giving me the chance to find someone who wants to keep up with me, Steve, maybe one day you’ll find someone who is meant for you. I might forgive you but I can’t forget what you did, but thanks to you, I know where I belong. Goodbye Steve." you gave him a small smile and turned towards Bucky kissing his cheek, you left the two friends alone to talk.
"Will she ever forgive me?" Steve asks and Bucky gives a squeeze to Steve's shoulder "You tossed the woman you claimed to love onto the streets to replace her with someone like Sharon, if you wanted her to be your best girl, you shouldn’t have left her in the first place. While you cheated on her, you broke her heart and didn’t even care, we are still friends Steve but it will take time for things to get back to normal and as for Y/n it's her decision.” "I know, I will appreciate whatever she decides and thank you Buck for still being my friend, I'm happy for you both." "Next time I see Walker again, he is getting worse beating than you did" Bucky tells him, making Steve laugh. "You and me both Punk", both friends hugged each other happily.
Later that night... On his way to his room Steve heard noises with his enhanced hearing. That's when he saw you and Bucky kissing, lost in each other.
"Bucky! I love you so much!"
Steve blinked at the view, feeling his heart break all over again and knowing he was the cause of all of this. He used to be the only one that could make you say those things, moan like that, yet here he was, getting a taste of his own medicine. At this moment, Steve felt like how you did when you saw him with Sharon. He did something unforgivable, so he could live his life with the person he thought he wants, who in return broke his heart. For now, he had a lone long journey for himself and hopefully you and him can be decent friends at least.
................
"So, how are you? Bucky asks kissing your forehead" "So much better thanks to you" you smile at him. "Are you happy with me?" Bucky asks in all seriousness. "More than you can imagine, are you happy?" you ask him playfully. Shaking his head, he smiles "I'm, more than you can imagine" "Hey" you pouted and he kissed your lips continuing swinging you in his arms to the beautiful music playing in the background dreaming about his future with you. "So, should we listen to someone else, other than Bruno Mars?" "I should punish you for asking that, but to answer your question, maybe." You hide your face on his chest, while Bucky smiles, continuing to day dream about his future with you.
----------------------------------------------------- (Hey lovely people here is the last part of the alternate series. I hope you all enjoy it. I had an amazing time writing.
