4 / a story idea you haven’t written yet

for a long time i've wanted to write about what might make dustin or jim finally say i love you if they'd been fwb for >a decade. for jim i think it wouldn't be after one single big thing, but rather dustin demonstrating over and over again that he knows & cares about him better than anyone else ever will in such a short space of time that jim eventually just cracks like UGH FINE i love you. i want more. :(

carpe diem for sure. i almost did shortly after i posted it because i could imagine it so clearly - dustin picks jim up from the airport the next morning and they are both trying so hard to be normal, and then they stop at a diner on the way home and sit opposite each other and jim is talking about his trip while dustin slowly rips a napkin up into tiny pieces like 'uh huh, uh huh, what did you want to talk to me about?????'
