Five Things You’d Find in my Bag (when I’m carrying it):

a notepad with a bunch of half-organized facts and ideas about sleepers in it

two wallets now, because i got this super cute kiki’s delivery service bag at fanime that is the perfect size for cash, my debit card, clipper card, etc., but not for all of the other things i carry in my regular-sized wallet

approximately 12 different lipsticks

crushed receipts from five months ago, forming a protective layer at the bottom

my inhaler since i’m trying to be like Pragmatic or whatever and actually use it again to minimize my own suffering

Five Things You’d Find in my Bedroom:

my boyfriend, probably splayed out on the floor reading a manga about boxing or mahjong or investment or some combination of the three

more scented candles than any normal human probably needs

stacks of books spilling out onto the floor because all of the bookshelves are full

my best friend, the litten plushie

some package or letter or bill i’ve no doubt been meaning to mail for 2 weeks

Five Things I Want to do in Life:

move out of state, live elsewhere, visit places i wouldn’t normally think to visit. i think there’s something interesting in every place if you look for it and i want to find all of those interesting things

find a place to live that allows cats so i can finally reunite with my darling, my dear heart

learn another language, preferably japanese. i got a basic kanji dictionary and an “essential japanese” book from 1961 at green apple for like $20 total although as i said one is from 1961 so it’s probably plumb useless by this point i’ll be using hip lingo from the early 60s

go to grad school for creative writing and get one of those sweet MFAs!

gain a reputation about town in my old age as the peculiar old widow hermit who lives in the cottage at the end of the lane and may be a witch but the good kind, the kind that can help cure your cold

the moments when i’m with my friends and we all burst out laughing at the same time, crowded into a small room and not really knowing what we’re doing but but sharing in something joyous and ridiculous and ours

my boyfriend’s curry

my soulmate for life, my cat, therru, who can’t live with me right now because there are coyotes about and my place is incredibly small and she would hate it, but i miss her with all my heart and every time we’re reunited i’m totally moved by how thrilled she is to see me, in that way like she thought i was gone forever but now i’m miraculously back again

quiet, secluded spots in the forest, where if you hold your breath and empty your head you can almost believe you’re in a different time and civilization will be gone when you walk back

i’ve now watched ping pong: the animation three times back-to-back to make sure i can firmly say it’s the best anime i’ve ever seen and like yep, that still holds water. it has usurped the tatami galaxy. i think it came to me at a really pivotal time and for that reason it struck me harder than anything else ever has. 

i’m totally bonkers about the west wing again now that watching it carries just slightly less crushing depression than it did after the election, which happened right around the time i started it. c.j. cregg is like, goals. 

my precious jasmine hand cream, which i purchased for an exorbitant $7.95 but which makes my hands smell like the elegant hands of a princess

sitting out on the back porch and staring at the fog rolling down through the trees on the distant hills and hoping that things will turn out okay

THE FACT THAT BUMP OF CHICKEN WROTE A SONG EXCLUSIVELY ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD OTP IN 2017 AND THAT IT PLAYS IN THIS CUP NOODLES COMMERCIAL THAT FEATURES THEM AND WHICH I HAVE WATCHED 700 TIMES

Five Things on my To- Do List:

catch up on my kanji goals for the end of the week (oops) and memorize 1-10

contact professors m, a, and k to humbly ask if they would possibly be willing to write letters of recommendation for me again

do more research on grad schools and try to further narrow down my list

send in job application once keyboard is fixed
