hi icarus i am watching the brazil serbia match and cheering on brazil. i have a question abt this '7-1' thing that happened to brazil ?? the commentators mentioned it a few times and i am neither a football nor a brazil expert

so uh. in the 2014 world cup i think it was. brazil and germany were up against each other for the semi-finals. so yknow. it’s a BIG match. every brazilian is glued to their tv screen impatiently waiting for the game to start and for our team to kick ass and take home the prize.

that is not what happened. what happened, in fact, was that brazil lost. badly. germany scored 7 goals. brazil only scored one. it was BAD. i was down there when it happened, and after like the third or fourth goal my mom and aunt straight-up left the room and went to a room without a tv because they couldn’t stand to watch it anymore. it’s gone down in recent history as one of the biggest blunders/embarrassments for brazil’s reputation in the world of football. it’s been 8 years and we have yet to get over it. i don’t think we ever will
