just my own opinion not particularly backed up by anything but to me it kind of mirrors the deal with like, teru and maybe even shou's hair (to a lesser extent ?) like there are always those "spot the main character" jokes in anime with the protags having unnatural hair colors/styles and i dont feel like ONE or studio bones is necessarily poking fun at the trope directly or deliberately (except maybe with the exception of teru's Super Wig) but teru kind of has his own Shonen Protag haircut imo when mob confronts him for the first time and he’s still in his “im the main character of this world” mindset
minori has an extremely wealthy father, if we’re to believe what mogami says about/portrays her as (and what i think she partially confirms herself ? i don’t remember super well its been a long time since ive read/watched the arc) is true then i don’t think it’s that unfair to say she was probably in a similar mindset to teru, going through her life with this “im the main character in a world of npcs” idea but with her reasoning being propped up by either wealth or social status or some combination of the two instead of psychic powers
shou’s a bit different to this but i believe it was stated somewhere that his slicked back shonen hero hair is intentional, both design-wise and within the fiction of the story, bc he’s trying to emulate the kind of principals of fighting for justice and being brave that most of those kinds of characters have as very forefront traits (which i think ties interestingly into his initial misjudging of mob as a coward since mob is intentionally kind of a subversion of a more traditional shonen-type hero)
anyways idk how to quite tie this all together but i find it really interesting that what could be considered as most of mp100′s main reoccurring cast (mob, ritsu, reigen, tome, serizawa, etc) have very plain haircuts + colors you wouldn’t take any stock of particularly if you saw them in real life ? of course this is the most obvious with mob who is intentionally designed to look very simple, unassuming and plain while still being our main protagonist, i wonder if it’s kind of a visual reinforcement of the “you are the protagonist of your Own story” theme, idk again if it’s completely on purpose or not especially with minori but its just interesting to think abt !
i feel like there's significance to minori's hair color? like. mp100 is very vibrantly colored, all save for the mogami arc. it becomes dreary when mob and reigen arrive at the mansion, and in mogamiland it's entirely washed out and drab. and minori's no exception, obviously, she's as washed out as the rest (her hair looks almost grey in mogamiland), but i feel like there's something to the fact that her hair is as unusual a color as purple in the episodes most devoid of any color.
