One of the nicest Thai mahseer on the fly still. The park ranger estimates this at 4 to 5kg. That’s a good fish. Many sizable mahseer is a challenge to land in the environment they are often encountered. JW was guiding Tim from Brisbane when this fish exploded in a pool below a small drop inhaling the size 6 hopper fly. JW went after the fish running downstream with landing net in hand. BALLOON - just look at how round this mahseer Aznir is holding is. I remember vividly how he switched to a strange looking nymph and hooked this first instantly on top of some rapids. The fish took off down the rapids with Aznir in hot pursuit. Not easy keeping balance in the rocky rivers and moving quickly.
