Helpp me. Hellp me please.
I have seen the glory of the Thai Bamboo Rat Snake. And I am suffering.
I’ve not kept snakes before - other creatures, yes, but not the Snake. And now I crave. The tiny face. The red-and-stripy. The dainty nose amongst leaf litter.
Can you tell me of them? Have you ever met them, and caught the beadiness of their gaze with yours?
*cheering* Bamboo ratsnakes!!

I have indeed met these guys! Never owned one, but they used to be more common than they are now and they're pretty awesome. You can still find captive-bred ones if you look for them!
These are intermediate-level snakes, but they are doable if you're committed. If you want one, you can make it work as long as you prepare thoroughly beforehand! There are two big husbandry notes with them. The first is that they cannot get too hot. They do not tolerate high heat well at all. Their hotspot can be set to 80F, but it must never get above that. The good news is that's a good range to use a heat mat with - heat mats don't raise your ambient temperature, but will provide a warm spot, just make sure it's plugged into a thermostat. You should always turn their heat off at night. The second note is that their humidity has to be high. About 70% during the day and spiking to 90% at night is what they do best with.
It's also worth noting that these are smaller snakes and they don't tolerate handling super well. You can tame them, but they'll always be a bit nervous and flighty.
They're super cool pets! Tricky, but rewarding.

I. Giới thiệu
IV. Hướng dẫn nuôi, chăm sóc gà
Chọn một giống gà:
Chọn một giống gà phù hợp với mục đích nuôi (trứng, thịt, gà cảnh).
Mua gà con khỏe mạnh, được tiêm phòng.
Thức ăn và nước uống:
Cung cấp thực phẩm dinh dưỡng: cám, gạo, ngô, rau xanh.
Always provide enough clean water for chickens, change the water daily.
Chicken health care:
Regularly check the health of chickens, detect signs of disease early.
Periodic vaccination and deworming.
Clean the barn, replace the pads, and keep it clean.
Chicken management and protection:
Make sure the barn is discreet, avoiding natural enemies such as snakes and rats.
Lights up at night if necessary to keep chickens safe.
V. Conclusion
Building a bamboo house for chickens not only protects the environment but also creates an ideal living environment for chickens.
Raising chickens requires patience, care, and good management to be highly effective.

Some bonus pics of my Thai red bamboo ratsnake. I’m down to two names I can’t decide between: Carnelian and Dahlia, I like the sound of Dahlia better but Carnelian is less gendered which I generally like for reptiles.

Hey, can you give me some ideas on smaller snakes??
Oh absolutely! I love smaller snakes!
Hognose snakes are pretty commonly captive bred in the pet trade and have a variety of lovely morphs. Some can have a bit of an attitude but its usually for show. Sometimes they can be picky feeders.
Sand boas are in the same boat as hognoses in that its not too hard to find a good breeder and you can get them in multiple colors. Being a mainly fossorial snake they spend much of their time below the surface of their substrate so unless you get them out you may not see it much.
Rosy boas have different color locales as well as a couple different color morphs. A lot of people recommend rosy boas when people are looking for a good starter small snake citing a docile nature and easy keeping requirements.
Garter snakes are reported as fascinating and active captives but many can be high strung and not always great for handling. They feed on more than just rodents but you have to be careful about what fish you feed to your snake because they have issues with thiaminase.
Children’s pythons are a small and beautiful (imo) python from Australia. The pygmy or anthill python is in the same family and is even smaller but harder to find (at least in the states).
African house snakes are usually quite docile and respond well to handling, particularly cape house snakes in my experience. They are nocturnal and do not make the best display snakes since they spend most of their time hiding during the day.
Here are some less common, more advanced options. I have seen breeders in the US with these captive bred.
Green bush rat snakes (rhadinophis prasinus….I think) are a bright green snake sporting lovely blue eyes. Reported to be active wonderful display animals.
Thai bamboo rat snakes (Oreocryptophis porphyraceus) are a species that likes to be kept at temperatures more cool than many species of snakes kept in captivity. That and its higher humidity requirements make it not a recommended species for beginners.
Disclaimer. The only species on this list that I currently own is the African house snake. All of the other information I’ve written on here is taken from speaking to other hobbyists and reading their accounts of keeping them. If there is any of these species you are interested in I recommend researching them as well as talking to breeders and long time keepers of them.
