The corner of his mouth begins curving upwards into a smirk at the mention of Mean Girls, remembering all too well how the rules of Halloween for girls were laid out, before he schools his lips into a straight line.
"That was your introduction to Halloween?" His face softens with a sympathetic smile, shaking his head. "It's not all bunny outfits and short skirts. It's too late this year but if you ever wanted to get involved in the future I'm more than happy to be your official Halloween guide."
"You could but where's the fun in that? Oh, I'm Cyclops from X-Men '97. Not a gym teacher as somebody guessed earlier." His ego was still reeling from that one. @selindogn
Selin thought back to the time where she first discovered what Halloween was on some american television show or movie. Whether or not she fully understood the depth of it while some teenage girls got dressed in their odd costumes and went to a party. "I don't know that I understood it. I believe the first time I saw it on television was when I watched mean girls." A movie she'd watched at her friends home, hidden in their room in the early hours of the morning.
"Couldn't you do that without being dressed as a vampire or a playboy bunny— or whatever costume you've selected this year? Which is, what?" / @warnerstjames

“Huh,” Warner said with a look of surprise, “I never gave much thought if people of different cultures celebrated Halloween or not before.” He at least had the decency to look embarrassed about that. “Did you ever want to celebrate it?” Hanukkah had always interested him, but that was mostly down to misunderstanding the meaning of Hanukkah growing up and thinking it was a holiday for giving presents every night for eight days.
“It’s surprising,” He says, “But not shocking.”
“It’s fun.” Warner said matter-of-factly. “It’s an excuse to dress up and have fun and forget about reality for the night.” @selindogn
"It wasn't an holiday that was practiced. I heard about it in movies but it wasn't something that we would or could celebrate so it was never existed for us." It was due to religious upbringings and being raised in a different culture than the one they were both in now.
"Yeah, it was just a normal day. Is that shocking?"
"No and I don't have any intention to begin. I guess I don't understand the holiday. What's the point? Another reason to feast and drink?" / @warnerstjames

"What did your family do for Halloween?" Warner asked, brows pinched together in confusion. If they didn't celebrate Halloween then what did they do? Warner didn't have many happy memories growing up with his family but one thing he always enjoyed was Halloween and the lavish parties his mother hosted.
"Did you all just, like, carry on as normal?"
Spooky.
"I'll be dressing up. Halloween's always been one of my favourite holidays. You've seriously never dressed up for Halloween?"
— open
— location: up to you
"Halloween has always been one of the holidays I've never understood. We did not celebrate it growing up and no one can explain the logic behind the candy or costumes." Not that it needed one but she wondered if people even knew what they were putting such effort into. "The best part has to be the discounted candy the following day. Are you going to dress up or turn your lights off and pretend not to be home?"
