After a childhood filled with insufficient explanations about what has happened in Chernobyl and, later, many years of struggle against a system that enforces nuclear power and other operations of vast destruction with a violent police apparatus and biased media, GRM has been still angry. Frustrated after the apparently desired incidents in Fukushima, GRM started to embrace a cynical resignation, that culminated into the series POLLUTANT by the live electronic project COLDSORE.

It is a sonic meditation on mankind's destructive ignorance. GRM uses mostly handmade sound-generators and -manipulators to project mentally into the steam-filled cooling towers of ancient NPPs all over the globe. Following the traces of serial failures, floating amid the H2O molecules that have just touched the radioactive cores of great dreams. We want to fly free like the original CLOUD, then rain down to bless the world.

About COLDSORE (GRM)

Parallel to anarchist activism, GRM has worked in several experimental audio/visual projects since 1999. Starting with TOTSTELLEN and a processed field recording based sound to GRMMSK, a doom dub project related to the emigration to Finland in 2007, and COLDSORE, a project that is mostly based on using primitive self-built electronic instruments. All those projects have been taking a strong political stand in a realm which is more and more dominated by reactionary forces. Besides sound-art GRM has always been on missions that claim or explore physical or metaphysical space. Since about 1995 a project called NEW HOMES LOST, in parts well documented, has been dedicated to the exploration and research of anti-gravity fields as way to liberation. Other examples of GRM’s work would be LOCH, a work/performance that consisted of digging a big hole to create space without building walls aor drawing borders. TUNNEL BRUECKE was an audio/visual installation based on a fragmented performance illegally held and filmed inside the hollow body of a motorway bridge. GRM also runs the micro label TOTES FORMAT and publishes “experimental musick and less” and builds experimental audio-objects under the name METSÄÄN.

WHY DOES THE TITLE KEEP CHANGING ANTI WHAT ARE YOU DOING

Post race coffee and reflections: “You have to be the one to tell yourself it’s POSSIBLE.” That was the theme of today’s race for me, and I think it’s going to be one of the hardest and most important things that I focus on this season. My coaches, my teammates, my boyfriend, my dad, they all believe that I’m capable of running fast again, but none of that matters if I can’t convince myself. Today I took a step towards proving to myself that it’s possible. I ran 18:15, and though that’s far from the fastest I’ve ever run for a 5k, it’s definitely better than I could have done even a few weeks ago. And because I’m still in the process of getting back in shape, I know I’m going to drop time a lot faster than I would if I were at the top of my game. So today’s race wasn’t quite what I wanted, but it’s going to be very satisfying to watch the numbers (hopefully!) fall pretty quickly for the remainder of indoor. I also did something that I haven’t been able to do for the last 6+ months. I responded to my coach during the race! When she told me to make a move around the girl ahead of me, I did it, even though I wasn’t sure I could hold the pace. I didn’t panic because of how I felt, or freak out thinking about the rest of the race, or make excuses for why I couldn’t pick it up. I just responded as well as I could in the moment, and it paid off in the end when I gapped the girl that I passed by 30 seconds! In summary, I’m happy with today but I’m nowhere near satisfied. It’s time to hit another hard block of training and come back in two weeks ready to take another step forward!
