Hi. Can I have a question (actually two, but the first one is rather concern) about your lately posted on-to-be read/listened list?
1. Are you out of your mind? (Sorry, I am just seriously questioning your sanity right now 馃槄)
2. Are those voice files? How did you convert those? I mean, surely not one by one? That would take hell a lot of time... Or, is there a trick I don't know about? (If we are talking about - probably not - the same site (textfromtospeech) I use.) Is there a site that could turn text to voice files (without paying for that trick?). Because if there is, please 馃檹, share this knowledge, I'd very glad using that too. 鉂わ笍
Oh man, this ask is so old. Thanks for the concern, my friend. I am a little one of my mind. XD I'm still actually not done with the list. I read most everything that came in when I was on vacation, but since I've been starting with the oldest stuff, I'm still behind. I'm to May 1st in my email, which is a lot of stuff posted to close out phic phight. Posting has definitely slowed down so I'll probably catch up sometime next week.
And 2, yes those were voice files. I use an app called @Voice, which is really great. There is a free version of the app but I brought the premium version for ten dollars to get rid of the adds and get some extra features. I've definitely gotten my money's worth but I will say, the free version is still really awesome.
So basically, on my phone, I click on the email notification for whatever story I'm reading.
Once I open it in my browser, I click the share button and select @Voice... add to list.
It will add that story/chapter to the queue.
I can drag to change the order. I can also change the voice it reads with, the speed, the pitch, and the volume.
When you click on a document, it highlights the words as it reads.
It's also continuous, so that when it finishes with one document, it goes on to the next.
You can also download files and add them by hitting the little plus button, but it's generally faster to share directly from the browser. Also works for things posted on Tumblr!
So yeah, that's how I read so many fics. A lot of the time, I listen to stuff while driving. Also, I work by myself most of the time and am doing routine, repetitive stuff with my hands that doesn't require a lot of active thought. So reading time! Ebooks and podcasts are fun too. But there's nothing like getting to satisfy the special interest while working on other stuff. 锟斤拷锟斤拷
