This bitch has been discharged!
Back home! The white sleeve is covering up the PICC line I got yesterday.
It’s called a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter line (or P.I.C.C. Line).
It hurts a bit, but that’s to be expected.
And early morning on September 21st has been selected as my official surgery date! So…I have a couple weeks of free time to continue writing or drawing if I so please.
Thanks for all the support! I appreciate it so much! You’ve all been so patient and understanding, and I couldn’t ask for more.

I need to scream into a void.
I got some bad health news. I was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. Well, technically I was born with 2, because I have pulmonary atresia to go along with it.
It requires open heart surgeries. My last one was almost 11 years ago. At the time, they said my new part would be good for 20-25 years. We'll, at my cardiology appointment, they discovered my right ventricle is enlarge and my heart has decreased pumping power. One of the causes of this could be that my part is leaking. Which would mean another surgery much sooner than I was expecting.
I'm scared. I'm disappointed. I resent the hell out of the fact that my primary concern is how I'm going to pay for this.
I want to move to Canada. I want to be concerned with my health, not with how much debt fixing my BIRTH DEFECT will cost me.
Anyway.
Shout out to everyone out there with ToF, ToF-PA, and any kind of CHD. Thoughts, prayers, or a kind word would be appreciated.

had to have two cardiac MRIs today, so i was in the tube for nearly three hours with some youtube playlist of show tunes droning on between breathing instructions. anyway i’m here to tell you that the only authentic way to listen to beetlejuice’s “girl scout” is to be jumpscared by it on hour two of your extremely uncomfortable test for your very own tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia, listening to skye’s chirping about “tetralogy of fallot in my pulmonary artery” getting cut off by instructions on how long to hold your breath for, only for the instructions to end, allowing you to breathe again as the lyrics kick back in with “even if you're born with congenital heart disease, and you could be killed by a random sneeze.” so blessed and lucky to have had the ideal listening experience today
#I was trying so hard not to lose my shit in the tube#like it was some auto play YouTube thing and the songs being chosen were so fucking random. what were the odds#also do not recommend having that long of an mri I am so ungodly sore#at least the IV was just one poke

How Crowdfunding is Helping Blue Babies
Becoming a parent is one of those beautiful feelings that are one of a kind, unique, and unmatched. Be it in any part of the world, planned parenthood always brings the heavens down to earth for parents. Although it comes with its challenges and hardship, parenthood teaches new things a couple about the baby, humans, themselves, and life overall. Among all the bliss and happiness, parents’ worst nightmare is when their newborns fall prey to certain diseases or when they discover that their child is born with congenital deformities.
Out of all the congenital ailments, heart disorder is known to be the most common one that babies are born with. As per an Indian Pediatrics report, every year, more than 2,00,000 babies are born with heart disorders. It could be any of the most common ones like Ventricle Septal Defect, Aortic Stenosis, Pulmonary Valve Stenosis or others, these defects interrupt the regular functioning of the heart that leads to other deformities as well. The babies born with such heart disorders are called Blue Babies. They either need immediate medical support or have to undergo heart surgeries in order to survive. Some newborns even need ventilator support for them to keep breathing. These life-saving medical treatments can be expensive, and time consuming.
The underprivileged people whose children are born with such disorders find it extremely difficult to arrange the sum of money required which is in lakhs. They feel hopeless and seek help. Heart surgery crowdfunding has become a new concept. The majority of people are unable to afford costly heart surgical procedures. These procedures are so costly that they might easily consume someone’s funds in a matter of days. In order to avoid this, sick families frequently turn to crowdsource websites for financial assistance.
You can help such people and save their children. Here are some cases on Filaantro you can help.
Help Shrija to Overcome Her Heart Disease
Shrija is a seven-year-old daughter of Jayalaxmi Goud from Hyderabad. She is suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot Repair due to pulmonary Atresia. She underwent an operation when she was just 11 months old. The second surgery is required for her to survive. An Intracardiac repair of Tetralogy of Fallot, PDA ligation along with right ventricle to pulmonary artery conduit surgery, which will cost her approximately Rs. 5,50,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs Fifty Thousand only). Her parents have exhausted all their resources to get funds for her surgery. It seems to be an impossible task for them to meet requirements given their situation. But with your generous donation, they can achieve it.
Rajeshwari Sable is suffering from a complex heart disease. She needs your help
Rajeshwari Sable is a 9-year-old daughter of Mr. Sable Mahadu Singh and Mrs. Sable Jamotibai. They belong to a small village in Adilabad, Telangana. Both parents work as farm labourers to provide for their family’s basic needs. They manage their family with a meagre income of Rs. 300/per day. Mr. and Mrs. Sable are parents to 4 school going children who completely depend on them for everything. In such circumstances, the family is now hit with a medical emergency that has challenged them financially. Their daughter Rajeshwari suffers from complex heart disease and needs to undergo a heart surgery worth 4,75,000/- (Rupees Four Lakhs and Seventy Five Thousand Only). Your support can help the family afford the treatment for Rajeshwari. Please Donate!
Help 8-Year-Old Priti Undergo a Heart Surgery!
Priti Padvi is an eight-year-old daughter of Mr Manhor Ramesh Padvi and Mrs Bharti Padvi. They hail from Mumbai, Maharashtra. The only source of income for the family is through Mr Manhor, who works on a farm and earns 3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand Only) a month. Mrs Bharti (mother) manages the house and looks after the children. Their little angel, Priti is suffering from Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) which is a heart defect. The doctors at Balaji Heart and Diagnostic Centre, Maharashtra have advised Priti to undergo heart surgery. The estimated cost of the treatment is Rs. 2,50,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs Fifty Thousand Only). Please consider making a small donation to assist them to save their child.
Currently, Filaantro has more such cases that need your support. Your one act of kindness can save a child’s life, sparing the family from trauma and distress. Crowdfunding is a way that can assure payment of hefty medical bills; where medical insurance does not work, crowdfunding has helped people save lives. Come forward and contribute towards making a difference and saving little lives!

Hello, Spoonie Community!
Today, I am talking to those in the community with Congenital Heart Disease!
I see little to no one on this site or hardly anywhere else talk about their CHD. Sure, there are a few CHD blogs on here, but I'm pretty certain they're all inactive. And I've seen some posts on The Mighty, but most of the posts on there are written by parents of CHD children. That's not what I want to see.
What I want to see is people like me, teenagers and adults, talk about their experiences.
And so, I've decided to create a discord server!
Thats right, pretty soon, a CHD discord server will arrive!
In this server, you will get to share with others about your heart disease, give and get support, and most importantly, speak to others who can understand what you're going through!
The server is still in the works, but I wanted to get the word out!
I also wanted to ask the community if anyone wanted to be a mod for the server! If being a mod interests you, please message me!
And if you yourself don't have CHD, but you know someone who does, tell them about the upcoming server!
Thank you for reading! <3

Let's review the 6 cyanotic conditions. You can count them up on your fingers and hand:
(1) Truncus arteriosus is first because the aorta and pulmonary artery don't separate embryologically, creating one big vessel leaving the heart.
(2) Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) is second because the two big arteries (aorta and pulmonary artery) are connected to the wrong chambers of the heart: aorta to right ventricle and pulmonary artery to left ventricle.
(3) Tricuspid Atresia is third because of the TRI-cuspid valve leading from the right atrium to the right ventricle.
(4) Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is fourth because the four characteristics of TOF are pulmonary stenosis, an over-riding aorta (to pull from the right ventricle too), a ventriculoseptal defect (VSD), and right ventricular hypertrophy.
(5) Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR) is fifth because the name has five words. It means that the pulmonary veins return oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart via the right atrium rather than the left atrium.
(6) Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) goes in the palm, which looks like a chamber of the heart if you fold your thumb toward your fingers.

Ill 5-year-old 'marries' best friend before undergoing heart surgery
Five-year-old Sophia Chiappalone “married” her best friend, Hunter. (Photo: Sassy Mouth Photo)
A 5-year-old girl born with a hole in her heart — which has led to two open-heart surgeries — “married” her best friend in a touching ceremony she requested before her third procedure.
Sophia Elyssa Chiappalone was born in Meriden, Conn., with a slew of complications — her umbilical cord had fused into the placenta, and she did not form an anus until she was outside the womb, an event “doctors had never seen,” according to her mom, Kristy Somerset-Chiappalone.
At the newborn intensive care unit, doctors discovered that Sophia had both a hole in her heart and a genetic heart defect called tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, a complicated condition that involves four distinct heart problems.
Sophie on her “wedding” day (Photo: Sassy Mouth Photo)
“Sophia is on the more severe side of the scale, and, although a good candidate for a complete repair, it will take several surgeries throughout her life,” explains Somerset-Chiappalone, a single mother of three, on a Facebook page, Sophia Elyssa Chiappalone the beautiful baby with a broken heart. Three or four of these open heart surgeries are likely to take place in her first year of life. “I asked if this would end up shortening her lifespan and the answer was yes. This is something no parent wants to hear.”
After spending two weeks in the hospital and undergoing a lifesaving procedure that involved inserting a catheter into Sophia’s heart, doctors sent the girl home. However, a few weeks later, at a routine pediatrician check-up, Sophia turned blue and began losing oxygen. In surgery, doctors connected her surrounding arteries with a conduit, and a year later, she underwent a follow-up surgery.
Sophi and Hunter (Photo: Sassy Mouth Photo)
Sophia is due for more surgery in January, and in case it’s not a success, she decided to marry her best friend, Hunter, whom she met in preschool when she was 3 years old. So on Oct. 23, with Sophia wearing a pint-sized gown and veil from Bliss Bridal, the besties exchanged “vows” at a local playground.
“Hunter’s mom is my best friend and asked me to do the shoot, because Sophia had a wish to marry Hunter,” Marisa Balletti-Lavoie of Sassy Mouth Photo, tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “It was my pleasure.”
On Oct. 25, Somerset-Chiappalone, who did not return Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment, created a Go Fund Me page to raise money for “Supergirl’s” jaw-dropping medical expenses. So far, she’s raised more than $5,000 of her $10,000 goal.
“I cannot help but be overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve gotten with Sophia and her recent wish,” Somerset-Chiappalone wrote on Facebook. “It was pure innocence in the purest form. My heart aches with joy with the people standing behind Supergirl on this fight. She’s fought to be alive since her first breath, but that’s all she knows.”
The mom added: “I love the idea of sharing the beautiful story that is her and Hunter. Most people wait a lifetime for someone who wouldn’t stand by them through such illness. She met a best friend and love of her life at 3 who does. You know they say marry your best friend. It just doesn’t usually happen before 1st grade…”

Why is the fetal echocardiography test important?
Fetal echocardiogram abnormal results can be ambiguous or necessitate additional testing to determine the exact cause. Sometimes additional testing is not required since concerns have been ruled out. You can better control your pregnancy and be ready for the birth once your doctor has made a diagnosis.
The results of this test will assist you and your doctor in preparing for any postpartum procedures, such as corrective surgery, that your unborn child could require. Additionally, you can receive counseling and support to assist you in making wise choices for the balance of your pregnancy. Fetal echos look for congenital cardiac conditions that develop in the womb and may damage your baby's heart's structure and function. A more severe instance of CHD can involve missing pieces, whereas a minor case might just be a hole in your baby's heart.
Examples of CHD include:
Atrial septal defect Atrioventricular septal defect Coarctation of the aorta Double-outlet right ventricle d-transposition of the great arteries Ebstein anomaly Hypoplastic left heart syndrome Interrupted aortic arch Pulmonary atresia Single ventricle Tetralogy of fallot Total anomalous pulmonary venous return Tricuspid atresia Truncus arteriosus Ventricular septal defect

Heart Conditions And Disorders In Children–And How To Help Them
Parents of young children are often concerned that the irregular heartbeats or rapid breathing they hear may be warning signs of a medical condition. While most palpitations and tachycardia in children can be normal, heart conditions which cause them do occur and need to be addressed, usually by pediatric cardiologists and other heart specialists, who will check for more serious problems. Since many children with heart conditions have no obvious symptoms, parents need to be aware of what to look for when seeking diagnosis and care.
What is a pediatric heart condition?
Heart conditions for children are typically divided into two categories: congenital heart disease, or defects that are present at birth, and acquired heart disease that develops as the child gets older.
Here is a list of common congenital heart defects:
· Aortic Valve Stenosis (AVS)
· Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)
· Coarctation of the Aorta (CoA)
· Complete Atrioventricular Canal defect (CAVC)
· d-Transposition of the Great Arteries
· Ebstein's Anomaly
· Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
· I-Transposition of the Great Arteries
· Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)
· Pulmonary Atresia
· Pulmonary Valve Stenosis
· Single Ventricle Defects
· Tetralogy of Fallot
· Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC)
· Tricuspid Atresia
· Truncus Arteriosus
· Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
Treatments of heart diseases in children
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in children, and it's important to know a few things about it. The most common type of heart disease in children is called cardiomyopathy, which is a weakening of the heart muscle. This can lead to decreased blood flow throughout the body.
Treatment for this condition involves taking medications that help strengthen the heart muscle. Your doctor will likely want to keep a close eye on your loved one's condition after treatment begins so they can adjust the dosage as needed.
Cardiomyopathy is just one form of heart disease in children, but there are many others that require different forms of treatment to help your child get better. Here are some of the other most common diseases and disorders that children suffer from:
Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC)
This disorder occurs when the walls between the ventricles thicken and cause irregular heartbeat patterns. It's often passed down through families and can be detected early if you start observing symptoms during routine checkups with your family doctor or pediatrician.
Treatment for this condition involves taking medications that help strengthen the heart muscle. Your doctor will likely want to keep a close eye on your loved one's condition after treatment begins so they can adjust the dosage as needed.
Conclusion
If your child is facing some form of cardiac ailments or defects, you should always seek treatment. Do not expect to wait until everything is okay. Your child might need help and medical attention now. You have to take care of the child’s health at all times.
