Mod Jake what are your DC ships?

I have a lot lol. Rn I’ve been really into Jakeden, both platonically and romantically. I also loved season one Tomjake, and Jaiden is growing on me a lot since I’ve been rewatching season two for the first time in a year— side note, we do not talk enough about how great James’ character arc was in season two, easily one of my favorite redemption arcs ever. I also like Jamesjake a bit, and Huntake is cool too depending on how it’s written. Karolill has never interacted in canon but I really love the idea of them bonding over their love for nature and Karol becoming softer for Lill, while Lill learns to stand up for herself because of Karol. Gabellie is cute, I wish they had a little more angst in canon but I do like them. Pre-episode 14 Conniyalec is really good as well and I like Tessally too, I wish season two focused more on their relationship rather than their relationships with Hunter— this also goes for Ashally but with Jake, ignore than man’s problems and yuri out please. I also liked Grettby (Gabbrett??) and Tessellie, and this might be controversial but if Yul was written better (ie, not racist and given a better motive) I would kinda like Kaiyul as well. Oh and I also enjoy Lakeggy and Tremily.

I HATE HOW SHIPS ARE TREATED ON DCAS

Starting with the MLM ships, ALMOST EVERYONE IS INVOLVED IN A LOVE TRIANGLE, the only one who isn't involved was Jaiden, even I don't know if it counts since Aiden is also in a love triangle.

The jakextomxaiden thing was completely unnecessary, we already have a miscommunication problem with Jake and Tom, the love triangle wasn't necessary (Also, that unfinished and hasty closure they gave to jakextom... ugh)

But ok, it's okay, we can let it go. BUT THEN WE HAVE TREVEK VS KRYSTALXDEREK WHO IS ALSO A FREAKING LOVE TRIANGLE AAAAA

THE wlw ship, yeah, SHIP WITHOUT A S, is gabellie. I LOVE that they didn't ruin them as Jakextom and actually managed to solve their problems, but GOD, they time of screen time is SO low. Specifically in Piggyback that it was supposed to be their song, but NO, let's give that screen time to Tomden.

I remember people saying theorizing a love triangle between Tess, Gabby and Ellie. THANK GOD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN (NO HATE TO THE TESSGABBY, TESSELLIE OR TESSGABBYELLIE! Your ships are valid!)

Oh! Speaking of love triangles and yuri, why don't we talk about Huntessally. After S2, it was implied that the three of them were going to end up in a polyamorous relationship, but no, onc seems to be afraid of that and we only have HunterAlly. But ok, maybe they were preparing polyamory for S3

...

So far, 07/21/2024, nothing has happened.

The thing that bothered me the most was that after Hunter left there were Tessally scenes, which came to nothing.

Speaking of the straight ships. only ONE of them isn't toxic and it's the one with less screen time in the series, exactly, AshleyWill. All the other ones are toxic or just part of a love triangle.

The DerekKristal thing is not that bad, they don't have the fault that Trevor falled in love with Derek... THE PROBLEM IS THE LOVE TRIANGLE

Now on to our last love triangle, Connor and Alec with Riya... The most unnecessary thing in the world. (Again, not hate to the Riya x Alec shippers. This hate goes to the writing)

Oh! And Grett x Yul... I will be honest, I still don't understand how Yul passed from loving Grett to treat her like shit. But meh, Yul is an asshole, the probabilities of that ship going well were really low

My writing take? Not using love triangles, with jakextomxaiden was enough (and not even that because it was annoying). Huntessally canon, more Gabellie screen time and probably a non toxic straight ship on AS

(Everything I said only applies to All stars, anything I haven't mentioned is because I forgot or they simply aren't in AS)

(Off topic, but I never understood if Dan was just asexual or also aroace)

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Oh man I already answered this for ACCPOV which is the one I actively did that stuff with lol.  Have some behind the scenes stuff about No Prison Can Hold?

The whole idea with the fic was there were no bad guys, just people who didn’t believe/understand Din, with every character - especially the military OCs - having their own perceptions.  No one’s “wrong” they’re just looking at it from a certain point of view.  I never wanted Narro villainized by the narrative even though she’s one of Din’s main antagonists - from her perspective, she is a hero saving a lone child from the clutches of a terrible man.  Even though we the audience know better.

Tessal Narro is named after my SWTOR trooper, Tesheyel Narro (who is also an asshole) and Grielle Niam is a shoutout to the companion Nadia Grell, because I was playing Consular a lot when writing.

It was Vitally Important that Luke say “Baby Yoda” at some point in the fic and was a major motivation in writing it.

Otherwise I was just kinda like “Huh, what if the New Republic arrived a little earlier in canon?” and then was like “ooo what if the Skywalker-Solos get involved” and then banged out like the first 3-4 chapters in a weekend and made an outline and just kept going.

Chapters 11-12 were the most difficult to write.  (I’m still not convinced I made the right call on which POVs to use when, but that’s why the bonus chapter exists.)  Chapter 8 is my favorite.

Things I had the most fun with:  Baby Yoda, sweetest bean in the galaxy, hating on Luke Skywalker, the other sweetest bean in the galaxy.  (Even more hilarious now, after the Season 2 finale.)  Din continually being distracted by anything kid-related because he’s not emotionally intelligent enough to just state “I really miss my kid and it’s important to me I be a good dad to him.”  Tolli being my microphone as A Character Who Actually Knows About Child Development.  “This isn’t the Mandalorian you’re looking for” and any other I C Wat U Did Thar moments.  And of course, the Baby Yoda Commentary at the end of each chapter.

If you have any familiarity with the Thrawn Trilogy it’s obvious that that’s where I got Han, Leia, and Luke’s characterizations as they evolved after RotJ and I also used “snap-hiss” to describe Luke’s lightsaber igniting as a direct homage to how Timothy Zahn writes it, because I love how he brings the world of Star Wars to life through the written word.  I tend to think of/envision stories very cinematically so “translating” it into writing is hard sometimes.

I think it's a little more complicated bc the immortality thing also could definitely b Dreamcore and while he's connected 2 the earth and generally regarded with the animosity of a serial killer he doesn't have the interpersonal swag. Artemy is not Dreamcoded he doesn't deserve this. We have to do surgery on the healers

I think Ranboo and Wilbur r both roughly equal parts Clara and Daniil the duality thing is kind of a given (tho it does have to be a Specific Read of Clara+mirror Clara) but like in terms of the methodical Ranboo is definitely the most Facts And Logic out of the three of them... Like in my brain Wilbur has Clara's gloves and hat but Daniil's coat etc. I'm Warring over the way the Map Changes 4 all of them I feel like this will unlock the key points of who gets what Arcs here but I'm kinda stuck on unpicking it... I think tho that Artemy's final map makes the most sense for Ranboo Daniil's for Wilbur and Clara's for Dream and this is something I have to rotate in my brain a while longer I can't do it rn but I think this is the Theme Keys

can I just say the tessally scenes that ended up being nothing felt like borderline queerbaiting

i didn’t feel queerbaited. i know ONC would rather give us five MLM couples rather than two WLW ones because they adhere more to the fandom, so i never got my hopes up! /hj

but yea in all seriousness i feel like they had the chance to make huntessally canon through those tessally scenes and they just. didnt. thx guys this sucks
