a lot of blogs make me happy. your blog makes me happy. z's interactions with udyati makes me happy. but z's interactions with others like @bewitchingbaker also make me happy.

i wish i could just plop down every single one of my followers on here and write a little thing about them. unfortunately i can't, because it'd take forever, so here are a couple of blogs that make me happy.

i love oc's. i especially love oc's that sneak up on you and then it becomes blatantly obvious that they were meant to be the main character of this story. such is the case with @unbearablyindifferent. i don't know a lot about spn other than the three or four episodes i've watched but hayley always explains the things i don't get like salmon dean because i thought it had to do with an actual salmon. or, you know, dean liking salmon. or a salmon ladder like the one in arrow.

@bansithe's ryan is canon to me. truly, ryan was just always there in the background after they got her out of eichen house. i know this is canon. scott mccall told me himself. all jokes aside though, i really truly love this oc. west goes above and beyond and slots ryan into the teen wolf world with love and care.

i feel like that i (tessa) would probably not be able to talk to @khrused's hera because ???? too pretty ???? i would combust on the spot. i do, however, look back to our interaction fondly because hera was so kind and warm and maternal to udyati in a moment that she really needed it and it made me feel really happy as well.

@soulmissed's auggie is so little brother shaped. i'm serious. i cannot fight because i think i'm done for whenever i stub my toe but boy oh boy would i fight for auggie. i love him a lot. udyati loves him a lot. that's her little buddy! that's her baby brother! ruben writes auggie with tenderness, love and care, but also with that inner spark and drive. with wit and tenacity not often seen in kids auggie's age. also auggie has dyscalculia and i have dyscalculia and i appreciate the representation.

at this point, @fatecrafted is stuck with me. from our long talks and rps on discord to our dash shenanigans - adam has seen me at my worst, at my mediocre and at my best. he truly is the nico di angelo to my lou ellen blackstone and i would not have it any other way.

and last but not least: @pistachiofudge - who has the best url. m's characters have a special place in my heart. i met ashton - or blue boy - first, back when he had a solo blog. that's such a long time ago i can't really recall. probably 2012 or 2013. 2014 at the latest. but i've been a blue boy fan ever since. imagine my surprise and delight when we crossed paths again when m made a multi. it wasn't hard to fall in love with the other characters on that blog like jessica or whitney english or kelsey monna and i'm honestly overjoyed at m's comeback! i can't wait to watch this universe grow and expand and i'm really glad to be a tiny part of it.

Prophecies

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I was dying for more urban fantasy after binging Wolf Like Me from Peacock. Looks like someone heard me because there's more content. And it’s… something.

Chances are, you haven’t heard of this show. I hadn’t before I started watching this. There’s only what look like press releases posted online and the most detailed article only has the barest minimum research behind it that doesn’t even line up (more on that later). Peacock is terrible at marketing its new shows so here I am doing their job for them. You’re welcome, streaming company that somehow lost a billion dollars (???).

Supernatural Academy (2022- )

I liked the animation style of Supernatural Academy enough to give it a try and here we are. And it does deliver - there’s so much potential for fantasy in animation and it takes full use of the medium.

Supernatural Academy takes place mostly at an academy of supernatural creatures. Jessa and Mischa are wolf shifters and dragon marked twins - in a world where dragon marked are sent away to live in cloisters because a prophecy foretells they will lead to the rise of the wicked dragon king. Their parents hid away their dragon marks, but now their secret threatens to be exposed.

It’s full of your classic YA fantasy tropes - chosen ones, a strict headmaster that may or may not be evil, chosen ones, a supernatural world hidden from the human world - where smartphones don't work conveniently enough, prophecies, students sneaking away to do dangerous things that can get them killed, evil king (dragon, this time) that wants to destroy the world. But just because it has a lot of tropes doesn’t make it bad. The 20-ish-minute episodes are gripping enough to binge and there are 16 episodes of this.

There are even unexpected twists and the show goes much darker than you’d think. Stakes are high - death is not unavoidable, which, by the way, most media of this kind stays away from and come off feeling too safe.

It’s also refreshingly modern and inclusive. You wouldn’t think inclusive fantasy is that big of a deal but when supporting the biggest fantasy franchise geared children and teens becomes iffy because of the creator, you want better things to, if not take its place, exist alongside it. The two lead sisters and Latinas, their friend group (“pack”) is racially diverse, and has a nonbinary fae who is in fact voiced by Ali Eisner who are non-binary themselves. And all of these are all fully-formed characters and accepted for who they are. There are even characters of different sexual orientations who are not just queer-coded.

Now, on to the bizarre things I found while digging into where this show comes from that have nothing to do with the rec but is still something I couldn’t keep to myself.

The show says it’s based on books by Jaymin Eve and I was willing to check it out, even if it was for a younger audience. But it turns out, Supernatural Academy is a rare case of an adaptation that is somehow original by improving upon the original? I did some digging and it’s not what Polygon claims it is - “a tween cartoon from a steamy romance series”. Granted, it does share the name with Jaymin Eve’s book series that describes itself as “sexy urban fantasy book series” on her site. BUT it doesn’t have much else from it except for maybe the setting. The show is much closer to Eve’s other series, Supernatural Prison (I can see why they might have changed the name) whose first title is Dragon Marked. Why could they not just name the show that? But Jessa’s pack in the books is made up of four guys with a reverse harem-ish situation going on in the words of one reviewer - Braxton (dragon shifter), Maximus (vampire), Jacob (fey) and Tyson (wizard). In the show? Braxton and Max are still there, but Jacob is Jae and Tyson is Tessa, a witch. I like Jae and Tessa as they are in the show and I couldn’t imagine them otherwise, it’s definitely a good change. And that’s just what I found without having read the books.

With that said, I’m definitely into this show. I’d watch more of it. If only they made these longer episodes instead of forcing the showrunners to make them shorter to fit more ads. It’s not cable!

He definitely perfers Alec’s version

When they watch fantasy tv shows(like Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf and Supernatural and stuff) Alec gets annoyed when they get something completely wrong(which is often)

He also gets kinda sad that none of them have anything really close to Shadowhunters(except for Supernatural of course)

Magnus acts like he’s annoyed by it but he finds it adorable

Magnus gets very interested in the shows Rafe and Max watch(like Blues Clues or something)

Alec’s favorite show is Doctor Who

Sort of because Magnus made it his lifes mission to be in the background at least once a season ever since it started in 1963

If one of the kids is crying, they don’t fight about who has to check on them, they both run to them

Magnus sings in the shower

Very loudly

Alec’s gear is covered in cat hair and glitter

They taught the kids about people changing pronouns and how to respect them

Magnus signs his texts and you can’t take that away from me

They visit Jem and Tessa so that Rafe and Max can play with Mina and Alec can update Kit on everything going on with the Blackthorns

This was requested like a million years ago when I was on a Teen Wolf rewatch, and because I’m on ANOTHER Teen Wolf rewatch I’ve been inspired to write it! I have borrowed @sgtbuckyybarnes​ oc Perrie, and @ceruleanmusings​ oc Mel!

Sighing heavily, Tessa sank down into the grass, her cup balanced on her stomach as she stared up at the night sky. She didn’t know how long she’s been out here, lying beside the lake. She didn’t care.

She was hidden from view, purposely choosing to lie in front of the small rowboat so that if anyone glanced out of the windows of Lydia’s lake house, they wouldn’t be able to spot her. Tessa had had enough of people watching her. She just needed a few minutes, some time by herself to just stop and think and breathe.

She felt like she hadn’t had a chance to catch her breath for weeks. Someone was always with her, always on babysitting duty – mainly Mel, Perrie, or Liam, or sometimes even all three of them – and as much as she loved her friends and her brother, she really just needed some time alone every now and then. Tessa wasn’t stupid, she knew this whole last-minute party had just been an excuse to drag her out and force her to socialise – literally, Isaac had forcibly removed Tessa from her house and driven her to the party that no one had told her about, ignoring her whining the entire way there and promising her she was going to have a good time. He had made good on that promise for all of an hour, before Tessa had started to drift away from everyone.

That was how she found herself outside. God, she hadn’t even been to a party since… She couldn’t even remember when. Theo had been around, though.

Letting out a groan the way she always did whenever Theo crossed her mind, Tessa brought a hand up to cover her face as she screwed her eyes shut.

“There you are!”

“We’ve been looking all over for you, T.”

“You know you’ve been gone for like, hours, right?”

Tessa opened her eyes, looking up at her friends stood over her and she raised an eyebrow at Perrie’s statement. “I’m pretty sure I’ve been gone like, twenty minutes, tops.”

“Try double that,” Perrie frowned.

“That’s still not hours, Pez,” Tessa sighed, closing her eyes again and missing the look Perrie and Mel shared.

“Soo…” Mel started, taking a seat beside Tessa as Perrie sat on her other side. “What are you doing out here on your own, anyway? There’s a perfectly good party going on inside.”

“Just thinking,” Tessa paused, holding her drink up. “And drinking.”

“Drinking what?” Mel asked, taking the cup off her sniffing the contents. “It smells like regret,” she pulled a face, leaning across Tessa and handing the cup to Perrie.

“Hmm…” Perrie took a sip. “Tastes like it, too.”

“It’s vodka,” Tessa rolled her eyes, pulling herself up into a sitting position and leaning with her back against the rowboat before she took the cup back off Perrie. “Did you guys just come out here to annoy me?”

“Of course not, that’s just a happy coincidence,” Perrie smirked.

“We were worried about you,” Mel added softly. 

“I’m fine,” Tessa murmured.    

“‘I’m fine’,” Perrie mimicked, and Mel reached behind Tessa to flick Perrie’s shoulder. “Ow! What?!”

“We’re supposed to be sympathetic and understanding!”

“Well we’ve tried that,” Perrie argued. “And she’s ended up sitting outside in the dark drinking vodka and looking like she’s about to drown herself in the lake, so I think we need a new approach.”

“And tough love is the best approach to take, right?” Mel raised an eyebrow. “Was that Stiles’ idea?”

“As if I’d ever listen to any idea that Stiles has,” Perrie scoffed, and Tessa couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter. “Knew that would get a smile out of you! So… You’ve told us what you’re drinking. You wanna talk about what’s going on in that head of yours?”

“Not really,” Tessa took a sip of her drink, rolling her eyes when she saw the look Mel and Perrie shared. “Are you guys not bored of hearing about my drama and my issues? It’s all we do lately. It’s all we’ve done since-” Tessa stopped speaking and looked at the ground, picking at the grass beside her leg.

“Since Theo?” Mel nudged her gently. “You can say his name, you know? No one’s going to yell at you for it.”

Tessa side-eyed Perrie. “Simmons might.”

“I will not!” Perrie cried indignantly. “Hey, I too was taken in by Theo’s boyish good looks at charm and all round lies. Don’t forget who encouraged you to get to know the new guy.”

Tessa raised her eyebrows. “I’m pretty sure that was Lydia.”

“It was me,” Perrie rolled her eyes. 

“That’s such a lie!” Mel laughed. “It was most definitely Lydia, to get Tessa over her little crush on Scott! Whereas you have been Team McCall for the longest time-”

“Uh, there is no Team McCall!” Tessa interrupted with a shake of her head. “No teams at all, actually. Team Tessa, maybe, but that’s it. I am staying far away from boys for a very, very long time. Until I’m at least like… 21.”

“Yeah okay,” Perrie scoffed. 

“I’m serious,” Tessa whined, taking another sip of her drink and pulling her face. The coke had started to lose its fizz, but there was no way she was going to give her drink up and go back inside, no matter how desperately she wanted to escape the oncoming conversation Mel and Perrie were about to force her into. “I’m pretty sure Scott probably hates me right now, anyway.”

“Scott doesn’t hate you, you’re being ridiculous.”

“Way to be supportive, Perrie, good going,” Mel sent her a thumbs up, and Perrie flipped her off. “Why do you think Scott hates you?”

“Well, wouldn’t you?” Tessa asked with a shrug of her shoulders. “My brother tried to kill him, my boyfriend did kill him, I tried to save said boyfriend's life, only to fail miserably and shut myself away to sulk for weeks. Anyone would hate me. I hate me. It’s just… not normal, right? After everything that happened, everything Theo did, that I still tried to save him? I’m… broken. I’m damaged.”

“Tessa,” Mel started gently, reaching forward and taking the cup out of her hands. Tessa whined and reached for it, but Mel tipped the liquid out onto the grass behind her and tossed the empty cup into the rowboat. “You aren’t damaged, okay? And Scott doesn’t hate you. Scott understands that you’re grieving, we all do, and you’re allowed to grieve for someone that you cared about.”

“Even if he was a bad guy?”

“Yes, even if he was a bad guy. Listen,” Mel sighed, shifting slightly so she was facing Tessa. “Theo had us all fooled, he lied to all of us, but you? He made you fall in love with him, with the person he pretended to be. It’s okay to grieve for and to miss the person you thought he was, the person that you loved, because that is who you lost.”

“Yeah, exactly, what- what Mel said!” Perrie nodded enthusiastically and Mel shot her an incredulous look as Tessa turned to look at her.

“Wow, thanks for the pep talk Perrie, I’m so glad you’re my best friend,” Tessa deadpanned.

“Listen, I grew up with Stiles Stilinski so I’m not really good at the heartfelt chats like Mel is. You get sarcasm from me, or you get nothing,” Perrie shook her head, patting Tessa’s shoulder. She snorted out a laugh and shook her off. “She’s right, though. You’re not damaged and you’re not broken. It’s just going to take a bit of time, that’s all. You’ll be fine, T, I promise. We won’t let you not be fine.”

“I know,” Tessa whispered with a soft smile. “I love you guys.”

“We love you too, loser,” Perrie nudged her. “You wanna go back inside?”

“Uhh…” Tessa looked back towards the house. “You guys mind if I bail? I promise I’ll be all smiles for the next party, I just kind of need another night to cry in my room.”

“Come on,” Mel pulled herself to her feet, holding her hand out to help Tessa up. “I drove here, I can give you a ride home.”

“Thanks,” Tessa smiled gratefully, brushing down the back of her jeans and turning to give Perrie a hug. “Thank you for never failing to come through with a sarcastic quip, it’s the reason I love you,” she whispered in her ear.

“Yeah, yeah…” Perrie rolled her eyes, giving her a quick hug back before pushing her away. “Now get out of here and go sulk, I’ll tell everyone you’ve gone home,” she waved them off, watching as Mel threw an arm around Tessa’s shoulders and guided her towards the front of the house.

Crossing her arms over her chest and smiling softly, Perrie stayed where she was for a couple of minutes, not even glancing at the person who had walked up beside her. She knew who it would be, anyway. He was the one who had sent both girls out when he’d noticed Tessa sitting along.

“Is she okay?” Scott asked in concern.

“No,” Perrie shook her head. “No, she’s not. But she will be.”

The SSSS: Chapter 4: Monsters,Mice and Media oh my

"Y'all have money for the L right? The Secret Note is a whiles away." Cj asks, looking up from google maps.

"Yessiree! I'll cover for Octo ,since I'm very sure she forgot her wallet." Winston says, glancing over at Octavia, who's patting her pockets and bra anxiously. Looking up at Winston, she gives him a sheepish smile.

"Winniee?" She draws out the nickname, smiling knowingly when Winston rolls his eyes.

"Called it. And I gotchu Wolfie, don't sweat it." He sighs. CJ laughs and pats his shoulder gratefully before getting out their wallet.

"Thanks dude." They say, gently starting to herd everyone into the line. Everyone starts to swipe there cards without much trouble. Other then Winston's card not working correctly, causing Tessa to snicker when Winston silently gets annoyed. Octavia goes through the turnstile then squints at the LED sign near the benches, reading what it says while Tessa goes through the turnstile.Eyes widening Octavia turns back to Cj, who was helping Winston swipe his card.

"Blue line's about to leave!" Octavia says, getting the others attention.

"Shit! Come on!" CJ grabs Winston's card out of his hands and tries swiping it, after a few stressful moments.....

....the card finally works. Winston shoves through the turnstile, grabbing CJ's hand, while Octavia does the same to Tessa, the two immortals speeding through the other people while basically dragging their friends along. Tumbling inside an empty carriage the four friends catch their breath as the doors close after one last warning.

"The fastest way to get to Jay Blvd is to get off at Logan," CJ says, checking the map before sitting down. They lay their legs across four seat, stretching their limbs.

"We have about 15 to 20 minutes till we get there so we have a bit of time to chill the fuck out." CJ checks the map once more before putting their phone away and leaning against an armrest, closing their eyes. Winston plops down and starts watching YouTube, the Irish swearing quietly coming from his phone. Octavia grins before looking around the train car.

"There's always cool stuff people forget on trains to snatch." She mumbles, rubbing her hands together like a cliche Disney villain. Eyes searching the car, they spot something. Skipping over to a row of seats, Octavia reaches under it, her hand grasping something. Pulling out a discarded baseball bat, she glances at the closed eyed CJ, a mischievous smile growing on her face.

"CJ!!" Octavia shouts, "Catch!" She abruptly throws the bat at her friend. CJ's eyes pop open, catching the bat instinctively. Octavia starts laughing at CJ's surprised expression, eyes wide and mouth open. Tessa chuckles at her goblin ways before deciding to lay her head on Winstons lap, feet propped up on a handlebar.

"Get some of that energy out, you look like you're going to bounce off the walls." Winston says with a laugh, taking note of Octavia's sudden fidgeting hands and pacing. She bares a fanged grin before pulling herself up on the higher bars and perching herself on the metal. Gripping the bars Octavia swings herself upside down, years of gymnastics coming into play. A simple hum makes its way out of Octavia, the tune catchy and upbeat.

"Oh that's so coooool~So coooool~My computer can't handle the rendering!! " She then starts to sing, ignoring CJs groans when Winston & Tessa starts to sing along.

"There's nothing I like more than space! So let's blow something up here!" He shout-sings with Tessa, pausing his video to dance in his seat. The three singers look pointedly at CJ, eyes asking the silent question.

"If there was a program for volunteers to go into space ~With like a hundred percent chance of dying from death by space" CJ smiles and starts to sing along.

"~I would be first in line~If they needed brave volunteers~Or stupid volunteers~I would be there so fast!!! " The cart is full of laughter and singing, CJ queuing up more songs through their Bluetooth speaker.

The train conductors voice suddenly buzzes over the intercom, destroying the vibe.

"Please, zzz-zz calm- zzzhzh creature-" The train cart goes silent, the four only now hearing the screams a few carts away.

"You threw off my groove!" Octavia whispers to her self, restraining a smile.

"We're at the brown stop,or at least some the train is. So we need to go '' CJ ignores Octavia and snaps at everyone, grabbing their new bat. They shove Tessa and Winston into the next car, hurrying them. Winston unsheathed his sword from his backpack as he ran from train car to train car, arriving at the train-station first. Octavia is close behind, sliding to a stop next to Winston. Tessa steps behind Winston and Octavia, while CJ steps beside them all, their music still playing.

People are screaming and clamoring, running over each other to get away from the destruction. Winston surveys the platform before pointing his sword at Tessa, getting her attention instantly.

"T! Get People Out of here! Do not get hurt! Keep everyone away from us!" He shouts over the ruckus, before glancing at the other two.

"Octo, CJ! Let's see if we can shut this down quickly." CJ nods seriously and grips their bat. Octavia nods as well, eyes flitting around. A giant rodent creature slashes at the ground, letting loud squeaks and biting benches and pillars with its sharp teeth. Winston adjusts his stance, readying his sword.

Suddenly rushing forward, he takes the large mouse-like monster by surprise. Its furry face gets sliced by a swing of his sword. While its squealing in pain, CJ slides closer and bashes its head, the bat getting spider web like cracks when it makes contact. Gripping it even tighter, CJ ignores the damage done.

"O!" Winston screams, diving in to attack again but not seeing his green haired friend. Tessa immediately tenses at the worried tone but continues to herd people up to the streets, shoving  phones away from the fight.

"I'll get paid so much for this vid!" A teen boy yells, a brace filled grin shining at Tessa.

"You wont get any money if you're dead! Go!" Tessa yells back, pushing the boys phone down and ushers him away.

"Leave! Someone might get killed in this fight and I sure as hell don't want it to be y'all!" She shouts again. The civilians suddenly scatter, running up the stairs. Tess doesn't notice the large wiry tail about to come down near her.

"O!" Winston screams again when he spots the blonde about to be hit with heavy rubble. He smiles in relief when he sees Octavia.

A huge wolf, hulking and covered in bright green fur with eye-catching swirls of neon blue, pink and orange. Purple eyes glowing in anger and white fangs bared, a low growl rumbling from her chest. Razor sharp claws scratch on the tiles loudly as she comes bounding towards her girlfriend, using her large body to shield Tessa from the heavy rubble that rains down. Octavia snarls and growls at the rodent monster before launching onto its tail biting down, drawing blood.

"Hell yea!" CJ lets out an excited whoop, sidestepping to avoid the rubble. Tessa climbs on a mountain of rubble and uses her height to continue to force people to evacuate.

Octavia pounces onto the monsters side, digging her claws into the fur while bright fangs bite into its flesh. The monster trying to shake Octavia off, without much luck.

Winston runs up close, taking advantage of the distraction. He jumps from a bench to its face, raising his sword and stabbing its eye. CJ ignores the painful shrieks and hits the other eye with their bat, the wood splintering and breaking. It squeals in pain before rising onto its hind legs, banging its head on the concrete ceiling, making more stone to rain down. Falling back down to all fours the shrieks get indescribably louder before rushing to soft whimper until its silence.

Octavia unlatches from the rodent and with bared teeth she lets out a furious snarl, fur raised and hind legs positioned to pounce.

"Octavia." Tessa had cleared everyone away from the chaos and was approaching her tensed girlfriend.

"Come on O. '' CJ says calmly, keeping a good distance away from the tensed wolf. Tessa gets close to the ready to attack canine, rubbing behind her ears and leaning her face against Octavia's soft neck.

"It's alright now babe, you can come back." Tessa whispers into her fur, pulling away and placing a hand on Octavia's snout, the neon blue fur soft under her palm. Octavia let out a huff before backing away. She starts to shift back, the fur melting into skin and claws softening into fingernails. Finally its a teenager girl on the ground instead of an animal.

"You good Wolfie?" Winston asks teasingly, wiping his sword off casually before putting it away.

"Frick off playboy." Octavia spits back harshly,the insult softened by her grin. Tessa helps her girlfriend off the ground, hugging her close before slinging an arm around her shoulder.

"Wanna just catch the bus? I don't think the L will be running anytime soon." Winston says casually, looking at the disaster around them. CJ barks out a loud belly laugh before patting Winston on his shoulder.

"Come on, I'll pay for the bus." they say, slinging their arms over the girls' shoulders and leading them out into the streets.

Currently reading: not enough and too many at the same time, I have a habit of starting to read one book then put them down and start the next one. And when I finally choose to read something it takes me months to start. My current goal is to read and finish them. Believe it annoys me.
