I am not sure if anyone here has already made this connection or pointed this out (apologies if so), but while doing some research into Flatland/the 11 dimensions the other day, I discovered something pretty interesting…

In the ‘Book of Bill’ announcement video, as well as distorted, synthesised background music and the Morse Code (which has already been deciphered), we can also hear several lines of spoken dialogue, the first of which being the line: “some other mystic dimension”.

Now, this line already raises several questions - which ‘dimension’ is being referring to here? And why is it considered to be ‘mystic(al)’? Well, we don’t have a definite answer to either of those questions just yet, but if you will humour me for a moment, I have a few suggestions. Either this ‘other mystic dimension’ could be referring to Bill’s own homeland, the Second Dimension (which would naturally be considered ‘other’, ‘mystic’ and generally unfamiliar to us, the readers), or perhaps, it is referring to the Third Dimension itself, or what is known as Spaceland (Height/Up) in Abbott’s novella. I think the latter to be far more likely, especially with what I am about to show you. This is where my excessive YouTube deep-diving habits came in useful.

During my research quest, I stumbled upon this video of the famous astronomer and science communicator Carl Sagan (take note of this name) explaining the concept of the Fourth Dimension, as well as other Flatland-adjacent things. And lo and behold, at 4:37, what do we hear?

“And the poor Square has to say: ‘Well, I was in some other mystic dimension called Up…”

Yes, that’s right. The exact words that were used in the promo video.

To provide you some context, here Sagan is recounting the experience of A Square who, with the guidance and revelations of A Sphere, has just returned from a recent foray into the Third Dimension, and is trying to explain his sudden disappearance and newfound knowledge of Height to his friends. So saying, it is likely that the ‘other mystic dimension’ being referred to in the BoB video is in fact, the Third Dimension, since this is a book that has been written from Bill’s perspective, and it seems that he will be filling in the role of A Square in this narrative, discovering the Secrets Of The Universe and all. Although, I must emphasise that this is still just speculation on my part, based on the assumption that Bill’s backstory will be pretty similar to, if not a direct retelling of Flatland:

“Flat minds in a flat world with flat dreams.”

Who knows, Alex Hirsch may just subvert our expectations entirely.

Anyway, I have another little piece of the puzzle to share. The line spoken in the announcement video isn’t merely a word-for-word recreation of what Carl Sagan said, It is Carl Sagan. They used a direct clip from an episode of Cosmos. This has me giddy with excitement, because Carl Sagan, a man with much notoriety within the scientific community, and many achievements and accolades to his name, is known to be one of Ford’s scientific idols.

The level of detail in this show, and I guess now in its extended literary canon’s advertisement material, is insane. Do with this information what you will. Perhaps there’s a connection here that will be expounded upon in the book. Perhaps it’s just a cool reference. Even so, it is a very intriguing one nonetheless, especially with the tie-ins to Flatland, theoretical physics and Ford’s hero-worshipping. It’s clearly intentional.

The video at the start of this thread was originally posted on TikTok by "techiedani" Techi Dani extolling the virtues of the Tesla Cybertruck as a car suitable for moms with kids, but it has been stitched together with sarcastic reactions by TikToker "fiveoclockmommy" Melissa Gutierrez.

The reactions show how all the Cybertruck features that the first video presents as laudable (because they cater to a family's needs on the go) are in actuality really nothing special because the mundane features of a regular family car work just as well in fulfilling these simple, everyday requirements.

These include: space for strollers in the back, a rainproof cover for the trunk, doors that open 90 degrees, enough seating for family members, space for a purse (that the second video demonstrates by throwing said purse into the footwell of the passenger seat) and a glove compartment.

Trump being all buddy buddy with Elon Musk is genuinely so ironic.

In his "Message to America's Auto Workers" under Agenda47, Trump very openly criticized electric vehicles, claiming they are "these electric vehicles that very few people want" and part of a "disastrous electric car scheme" and insisting he’ll protect the traditional auto jobs.

Yet here he is, loving it up with Elon, one of Tesla’s co-founders, damn near pioneering the EV market right now, who’s built his entire brand on electric cars, and (at least somewhat openly) supporting and trying to take climate conscious initiatives.. How can Trump claim that he’s committed to "taking back our industry" in the auto working market while trashing EVs, the very technology Elon has been taking pride on????

Also, for some reason, thinks that it is a mandated thing to have an electric car...?Biden did not say this himself, but his administration has encouraged people to consider other options.

Then there’s the trade situation with China. Trump talks all this big game about cutting trade ties with China saying "As part of my plan to obtain total independence from China-" (timestamp at 1:17) that counts for everything from electronics to literal pharmaceuticals. But here’s the kicker there, that would very much disrupt Tesla’s production. While Tesla has gigafactories in the states, we obviously can not overlook the Shanghai factory, the company’s largest and most efficient one. China plays a huge role in Tesla’s supply chain and ability to meet global demand as a whole. This doesn't just go to Tesla, but a lot of the things we own and use on a day to say. If Trump’s policies were implemented, they’d pull the plug on a critical part of Tesla’s operations, potentially kicking the chair to its access to more affordable parts and slowing down production by a ton.

All this aside.. The point I’m trying to make is that both of them have their priorities in the wrong places, and it show just how quickly people will support public figures without looking into their backgrounds or actions.

Blind support cost lives.

Doctor Who Series Twelve Summary

Jodie Whittaker’s second set picked up the pace.

This group of stories was where the Thirteenth Doctor hit her stride, and it seemed a fitting place to throw a wrench in her confidence with the Timeless Child revelations. The only stinker in the bunch was Orphan 55, a story with one of the most telegraphed plot twists, a serious lack of tension and internal continuity, and an overly preachy ending that lectured the audience and characters instead of using subtle metaphorical elegance.

Much of this series focused on pulpy storytelling and having fun, though Chris Chibnall’s penchant for “oops, we’re out of time” rush endings was a constant companion. I love how this series remembered that Doctor Who can be exciting, whimsical, and thoughtful. The Timeless Child thread was woven fairly well throughout the series, and I appreciate how it only cropped up from time to time instead of being in our faces like Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffat are prone to do.

The TARDIS got some enhanced interior deco, finally adding some depth to that claustrophobic set, and the Master got a facelift with an amazing performance from Sacha Dawan. We also got to see the trio of Ryan, Graham, and Yaz in top form (although I would still love to see Yaz doing more) before the fam was broken apart.  It was a fun series that, with one notable exception, I’d easily watch again.

Overall, Series Twelve comes in with a solid 4.1 score. That’s in good company with the classic Fifth Season, the classic Eighteenth Season, Series Two, Series Seven, and Series Nine. It’s a six-way tie for tenth place in the scope of the Timestamps Project.

It looks like in 2023, Tesla will quite easily continue to expand its influence in the premium car market without any competition, but the affordable electric car market will start to be occupied by BYD, MG and other Chinese electric car manufacturing companies in Europe. VW is in really bad shape and poorly prepared for competition...

It is interesting that already in 2022, MG has managed to sell quite a lot of electric cars. Now that their dealers can offer the MG4 at a much more affordable price than the VW ID.3, it will be pretty easy for them to achieve a healthy increase in sales...
