The allure of luxury vehicles has always captivated car enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. The intersection of opulence and performance is a coveted space that few brands can inhabit seamlessly. Enter the tesla model x for sale los angeles, a remarkable electric SUV that not only embodies luxury but also redefines what performance means in the automotive world. For residents of Los Angeles, a city synonymous with innovation and style, the Model X is not just a vehicle; it's a statement. This article delves into the various facets of the Tesla Model X, exploring its luxurious features, performance capabilities, technological advancements, and the sustainable lifestyle it promotes.
The Pinnacle of Luxury
At first glance, the Tesla Model X is a breathtaking sight. Its sleek, aerodynamic design is not just for aesthetics; it is meticulously crafted to enhance efficiency and performance. The distinctive falcon-wing doors are a hallmark of the Model X, providing not just ease of access but also a touch of theatricality that turns heads wherever it goes. Stepping inside, one is enveloped in an ambiance that balances modern minimalism with high-end comfort. Soft-touch materials, premium leather upholstery, and a spacious cabin create an inviting atmosphere for both drivers and passengers.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Model X is its seating capacity. With room for up to seven adults, it effortlessly accommodates families or groups without compromising comfort. The versatile seating arrangement allows for multiple configurations, ensuring that whether you are hauling children to school or embarking on a weekend getaway, the Model X adapts to your needs. Additionally, the panoramic windshield offers an expansive view of the surroundings, enhancing the feeling of space and luxury.
The integration of technology further elevates the luxury experience. A large 17-inch touchscreen display serves as the control center for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings, featuring an intuitive interface that is user-friendly. The sound system, engineered for clarity and depth, transforms every journey into a concert-like experience. Moreover, the Model X comes equipped with a suite of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, ensuring peace of mind for all passengers.
Performance That Astounds
The Tesla Model X is not merely a pretty face; it is a powerhouse of performance. With dual electric motors, the Model X offers all-wheel drive capabilities, ensuring excellent traction and stability in various driving conditions. The instant torque provided by the electric drivetrains delivers exhilarating acceleration, allowing the Model X to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This level of performance is often reserved for high-end sports cars, yet Tesla has managed to incorporate it into an SUV format.
What sets the Model X apart from its competitors is not just its speed but also its handling. The low center of gravity, courtesy of the battery placement beneath the floor, contributes to exceptional agility and responsiveness. Whether navigating the winding roads of the Malibu coastline or cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway, the Model X delivers a driving experience that is both thrilling and composed. The regenerative braking system enhances efficiency by converting energy back into the battery during deceleration, further extending the vehicle’s range.
Speaking of range, the Model X offers an impressive mileage capability, thanks to its advanced battery technology. Depending on the model variant, drivers can expect a range of over 300 miles on a single charge, making it a practical choice for those who frequently embark on longer journeys. The convenience of Tesla's Supercharger network also ensures that recharging is a seamless part of the driving experience, alleviating any concerns about battery life.
Cutting-Edge Technology
Tesla has always been at the forefront of automotive technology, and the Model X is no exception. The vehicle's software is continuously updated over-the-air, meaning that owners can enjoy the latest features and enhancements without having to visit a service center. This capability is a game-changer in the automotive industry, as it allows Tesla to refine and improve the driving experience long after the vehicle has left the showroom.
One of the standout features of the Model X is its Autopilot functionality, which provides advanced driver-assistance capabilities. While fully autonomous driving is still on the horizon, the existing features greatly enhance safety and convenience. The ability to navigate on highways, change lanes automatically, and park itself adds a layer of ease to the driving experience. Moreover, the inclusion of a comprehensive suite of sensors and cameras ensures that the vehicle is aware of its surroundings, making driving in urban environments significantly less stressful.
Entertainment options in the Model X are equally impressive. With access to streaming services, gaming, and navigation, the in-car experience is designed to keep passengers engaged during journeys, whether short or long. The cabin is equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing for seamless connectivity, which is particularly valuable in a city like Los Angeles, where being online is often essential.
Sustainability and Lifestyle
In an era where environmental consciousness is more critical than ever, the Tesla Model X stands as a beacon of sustainability. By choosing an electric vehicle, drivers are not only reducing their carbon footprint but also embracing a forward-thinking lifestyle that aligns with the values of modern society. The absence of tailpipe emissions contributes to cleaner air quality, a significant concern for urban areas like Los Angeles, where pollution levels can affect public health.
Tesla's commitment to sustainability extends beyond the vehicle itself. The company is actively involved in the development of renewable energy solutions, including solar power and energy storage systems. This holistic approach to sustainability means that Model X owners can also consider integrating solar panels into their homes, allowing them to charge their vehicles with clean energy.
Moreover, the growing interest in electric vehicles is reshaping the automotive landscape. As more consumers recognize the benefits of EVs, the infrastructure supporting them continues to expand. Charging stations are becoming increasingly common in Los Angeles, making the transition to electric driving more accessible for everyone. This shift not only supports individual drivers but also contributes to a broader cultural change towards sustainability.
Conclusion
The Tesla Model X is more than just an electric SUV; it embodies the perfect blend of luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology. For those in Los Angeles, it represents a lifestyle choice that prioritizes both sophistication and sustainability. With its remarkable features, exhilarating performance, and commitment to environmental responsibility, the Model X is a true trailblazer in the automotive industry. As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, vehicles like the Tesla Model X will undoubtedly lead the charge, redefining what it means to drive in style. Whether navigating the city streets or embarking on a cross-country adventure, the Model X is a vehicle that promises to elevate every journey.

Creative-Problem Interviews
INTERVIEW 1
About Jay Josue. Jay Josue is Sr. Art Director in Los Angeles and currently works at Arcana Academy, an Ad Agency located in Venice. Jay is also a freelance concept and title designer. His selected work can be seen in The Current War (2019), Citizen (2016), Me and Earl and The Dying Girl (2015).
How do you generate ideas? (How, when, and where are you inspired? What inspires you?)
Jay is a big believer in completely submerging yourself in the world of your project. For example, when Jay was working on The Current War (2019), he engulfed himself in learning everything about the Industrial Age. He gained every bit of knowledge about the electricity titans that were Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Nikola Tesla. Although Jay’s role in the project was more aligned with typography, he stressed that you need to dive into the world and sit with it. “Find an entry-level way to enter the world in any way, shape, or form. From there, you will begin to see the narrative pulled from the styles, history, and aesthetics of your research”.
When asked what inspires him, Jay answered, “Everything. Everywhere. Anytime.” Jay finds beauty in everything and draws on the emotional presence of his surroundings. He stresses that we often find ourselves strenuously seeking inspiration versus letting our subconscious do the work – it is why our greatest ideas come from the shower. An example of this is when Jay looks at a building, he not only sees the building holistically, but he draws his attention to the inner workings of the multiple layers that make up the building.
What obstacles do you face in coming up with a new idea, and how do you overcome them?
Due to the fast-paced nature of his work, Jay often finds himself challenged with what he calls “Trend Traps.” There is a time and place where a project can take the likings of the newest design trends. However, Jay always strives to come up with something more meaningful in his work.
When asked about overcoming challenges, Jay answered, “As cliché, as it sounds, thinking outside the box helps me combat trend traps.” He encourages always looking at the problem from different angles and allowing yourself to zoom out of the logical problem and think more emotionally. Jay concludes, “By giving yourself a broad perspective in problem-solving and sitting in the world, you will produce more meaningful work.”
What process(es) do you use to solve problems?
Identify the task at hand.
Be comfortable with the information and sit with it.
Research and place yourself within that world.
Begin ideating through sketching, mood boards, scanning books, etc.
Start experimenting through mock-ups and prototypes.
Distill your best ideas and see what works (perhaps ideas 1 and 3 can be the immediate solution).
Execute and continue polishing your final piece.
Finally, deploy.
Jay shared that his process is akin to a fine-artist discipline. Sometimes, the process can hinder his creativity, so he seeks the delicate balance of building parameters broad enough where he can still play without limitations.
INTERVIEW 2
About Blake Hill-Saya. Blake Hill-Saya is a published author and is the founder of Tenacity Communications, a verbal branding agency in Los Angeles. Blake is also a professional opera singer and licensed physical therapist. Blake brings a unique perspective in her writing with her multifaceted career background.
How do you generate ideas? (How, when, and where are you inspired? What inspires you?)
As a verbal coach, Blake is inspired largely by the conversations she has with her clients. One of her foundational questions is, "Tell me about a time with your job where everything just went incredible and tell me how you were feeling." Blake explains that such questions do not often get posed on clients when attempting to find their brand. What she finds from that question is an interesting language where the brand's true essence comes out.
Blake's original work is inspired by the entire literary landscape and the panoramic view it offers. She habitually reads all day and spends her time listening to podcasts about writing, seeking inspiration by writing down new phrases she has not tried out before or looking to see where she could insert herself into the story. Essentially, Blake enjoys and is inspired by the journey in which it took the author to get to where they are and finds a way to find her journey.
What obstacles do you face in coming up with a new idea, and how do you overcome them?
When it comes to obstacles, "writer's block is a real thing," and for Blake, it manifests when she is either overwhelmed or burnt out. For Blake, it means it is time to get active. She goes on what she calls "writers walk," where she puts on an audiobook of some of her favorite authors or writers. "I like to restore my faith in good writing and feeling like I have a companionship." She can also be found with a notepad on these walks to help with her writer's block. Blake has also adapted the advice by the late author Ray Bradbury which is to read two short stories and one poem.
As a musician, Blake has found that one way to combat being overwhelmed is with a few minor mental tricks which can be applied to any problem. When she needs to learn a new music piece, she breaks them out into portions and gets to rehearsing. Similarly, she finds herself repeating to herself, "just write X number of pages" to get the juices flowing with writing. "You have to find a system that works for you and stick to that system."
What process(es) do you use to solve problems?
Listen and sit with your client. Do it gracefully and inquisitively. Make them feel cared for. Often with businesses, you can get bogged down with business jargon, but as a consultant, you're able to harness the power of listening.
Build a structure but remember to remain flexible. For example, come to a meeting with prepared questions, but don't structure yourself so much that you can still react at the moment. You want your client the walk away to feel like they've been seen and heard.
Always follow up with a thank you email and a personal touch to know that "Hey! I see and hear you, and I'm on your side!"
INTERVIEW 3
About Jourel Baello. Jourel Baello is a Site Merchandiser at MeUndies where he oversees the digital storefront of MeUndies.com, CA-based underwear, and loungewear company. Jourel brings a broad perspective on fast fashion with his unique career journey from traditional brick and mortar retail to eCommerce. Before MeUndies, Jourel worked at Guitar Center as their eCommerce Specialist and spent seven years at Cotton On climbing the corporate ladder from Sales Associate in-store to eCommerce Merchandise Analyst at their LA headquarters.
How do you generate ideas? (How, when, and where are you inspired? What inspires you?)
MeUndies is a key player in the subscription-based business model, so in order to stay ahead, Jourel looks to the industry for emerging trends to elevate their customer experience. He reviews the competitive landscape and finds opportunities other brands may have that MeUndies could bring to the table.
What inspires Jourel is that eCommerce is still relatively in its infancy compared to the larger scope of retail. “Being at the forefront of what eCommerce can become excites me as an early pioneer in the space.” Jourel is also inspired by the ever-changing playing field eCommerce brings. He concludes, “There is no wrong answer, just lots of testing and different ways to approach problems. Finding the piece of the puzzle that no one else can provide is such a fun challenge.”
What obstacles do you face in coming up with a new idea, and how do you overcome them?
The biggest challenge Jourel faces is centered around bandwidth with the Developers and Engineers. MeUndies, like any eComm retailer, runs 24/7, 365 days of the year, which is great when collecting feedback on how to make the user experience better, but difficult when all of those changes become overlapping projects. Additionally, more pressure is added around seasonal promotions such as Black Friday where a set of new ideas are introduced. Jourel overcomes these challenges with transparent communication with his team. He reviews the project pipeline and identifies areas where things can be moved around. Then, with the blessings from his senior management, he optimizes new deadlines and manages deliverables. “I constantly revisit our roadmap because of how fast things are changing.” Jourel expresses that it is imperative to see the view of each project and its relation to how it may impact other projects.
What process(es) do you use to solve problems?
Ideating – What is the problem at hand? Are we able to come up with a hypothesis? What questions can we ask?
Cross Functional Discussions – Align with outside departments to ensure goals they have in mind are being addressed.
Internal Team Discussion – Discuss with the internal team about research and findings. Discussing what next steps are if it’s needed to go back to ideating phase.
Test. Test. Test. – Aggressively testing to see what options work and narrowing down solutions.
Analyzing Results – Reviewing test results and make implementation decision. At this stage, it can become iterative which helps drive clarity.

Ford to reveal Mustang-inspired electric SUV next month Ford will reveal its new Mustang-inspired electric SUV, conceived as a high-performance rival to the Tesla Model Y, next month. The American firm has released a teaser featuring a sketch of the new machine's profile, confirming it will be launched on Sunday 17 November, just ahead of the Los Angeles motor show where it will likely be shown in public for the first time. Due to go on sale in 2020, a concept will be unveiled later this year, Ford claims the as-year-unnamed model will transfer the spirit of the iconic Mustang pony car into a truly 21st century model. The new model was given the 'Mach 1' tag during early development because of strong public opinion against the use of the branding historically reserved for Mustangs. However, the Blue Oval recently applied to trademark the ‘Mach-E’ nameplate, which seems a perfect fit, given the car’s brief. The new car will be the first Ford designed as an electric car from the ground up, with a bespoke new platform enabling both rear and four-wheel drive. It will crown the brand’s wide-reaching electrification plan under which European customers will be offered a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric version of every new model launched. The only technical detail Ford has officially revealed is the car’s range: it will be capable of 370 miles of WLTP-certified range on a single charge, beating the Tesla Model X (351 miles) and Jaguar I-Pace (292 miles). A less expensive version with less battery capacity and

Softening Real Estate Markets in Prime West Coast Cities: Does China Trump IPOs?
Digital Elixir Softening Real Estate Markets in Prime West Coast Cities: Does China Trump IPOs?
It’s intriguing to see that real estate prices in the toniest West Coast markets have been sloppy for a while, and experts anticipate this trend will continue. The reason for using the word “intriguing” is that I know some owners of prime San Francisco property who were hoping that prices for homes like theirs would double based on the tsunami of unicorn IPOs slotted for this year, and newly minted millionaires looking to park their money in suitable digs.
Now admittedly, in the cases where the IPO has fallen below its initial offering price (we’re looking at you, Uber, along with Lyft and Pinterest), others like Beyond Meat and Crowdstrike traded up nicely. Remember that only a portion of a company’s shares are sold in an IPO; insiders cashing out fully is very bad form, as well as bearish-looking, so even employees who got in early and got a nice chuck of change in the IPO might be a wee bit chastened by the aftermarket wobbles. Even so, most of the remaining 2019 IPOs are on track, save for AirBnB due to mounting legal challenges not making for the best investor story.
Yet despite all this new liquidity flowing largely into West Coast hands, the Wall Street Journal reports that on what looks to be a broad basis, urban West Coast real estate is languishing. If this were one city, you could attribute it to local factors, like a spike in residential construction. But that doesn’t seem to be a significant factor. From the Journal:
U.S. home sales slumped in June as home prices for major West Coast cities declined for the first time since 2012, ending the spring selling season with a thud.
Real-estate agents said lower asking prices could eventually attract more buyers, but home values in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Seattle have roughly doubled over the past seven years. That means prices may have to retreat further before buyers do more than look, economists said.
“Prices have dropped in Silicon Valley and sellers just aren’t used to the concept that [prices] can go down,” said Ken DeLeon, founder of DeLeon Realty in Palo Alto, Calif. “There’s just this malaise buyers had of, ‘I feel like it’s gonna drop further.’”….
The median price of a home fell in San Jose, Seattle and Los Angeles in June, compared with a year earlier, according to real-estate brokerage Redfin. For San Jose, that was the seventh month of annual price declines. The slowdown in the West Coast marketsnow spans all price points, including starter homes, which had been the tightest segment of the market. In San Jose, inventory for homes in the bottom-third price tier nearly doubled in June compared with a year earlier, while prices dropped 3.8%, according to Redfin.
What is striking about this shift is the breadth of the change: it’s hitting so many West Coast cities, and across so many types of homes. The article attributes the price reversal to two factors: that prices have outstripped incomes of even high-end professionals, and the Trump tax reforms have limited the deductibility of property taxes and mortgage interest in high-price, high tax states like California. But if tax changes were the main driver, you’d expect the dampening to be most pronounced in the biggest-ticket properties.
One Journal reader volunteered that first time buyers were knowingly speculating on price appreciation and planning to make relatively quick flips. If this practice is as widespread as he intimates, one wonders how many will be caught out:
PATRICK MROWCZYNSKI
Many people (and I’m talking families with modest means, both working parents needing 1000-1500+ sq ft in Santa Clara) is to often start with an interest only loan (e.g. 7/1 ARM) and then try to flip the home in 3-5 years after a 20-30% run up in prices.
Take the gains and use that as a down payment on a more modest home with a traditional mortgage.
The first step in this often rewards those who pick up a larger home than they normally could afford in order to maximize the gain (via leverage).
In the San Jose Metropolitan area, we’re looking at sq ft prices of $500-$800 for homes built decades ago.
Admittedly, in light of the boom in the biggest cities, the slackening this year is just a blip. But when real estate professionals, who are constitutionally optimistic, say that things are likely to get worse before they get better, they are probably right since that view is so out of character.
How does the sharp decline in Chinese investment in the US play into this picture? On the one hand, “Chinese nationals” accounted for only 3% of US housing buys in 2018. But wealthier foreign buyers often use corporations to mask their ownership, so this figure understates the magnitude of Chinese purchases. And Chinese investors like California.
Last week, CNBC reported Foreign purchases of American homes plunge 36% as Chinese buyers flee the market:
The dollar volume of homes purchased by foreign buyers from April 2018 through March 2019 dropped 36% from the previous year, according to the National Association of Realtors. The decline was due to a drop in the number and average price of purchases. Foreigners bought 183,100 properties with a total value of about $77.9 billion, down from 266,800 valued at $121 billion in the previous period.
Notice also that foreign buyers on average pay more than locals, suggesting a combination of typically preferring higher-end properties and overpaying1:
Another data point suggesting that the West Coast well-off may be feeling nervous or even pinched comes in another Journal story, this one on Tesla. Its high-end, as in highest-status cars, aren’t selling well any more:
Sales of Tesla Inc.’s high-end Model S sedan have taken a big hit in the company’s most important U.S. market, California, as the electric auto maker is leaning more heavily on selling the lower-priced Model 3 compact car, new data show.
Falling sales of the Model S—and its sister sport-utility vehicle Model X—threaten Tesla’s growth goals and profit ambitions as it must rely more on its cheaper Model 3 to make up the difference.
Registrations of new Model S sedans in the second quarter plummeted 54% to 1,205 in California, according to the Dominion Cross-Sell report, which compiles data from state motor-vehicle records. The Golden State is a strong indicator of demand as Tesla’s largest U.S. market, representing 40% of Model S registrations in the country last year, according to auto-sales tracker Edmunds.com Inc.
The new data from research firm Dominion Enterprises indicates the stylish sedan that arguably changed car buyers’ view of electric cars is losing its luster.
So is the West Coast starting to lose its mojo? Are these wobbles an an early warning that the economy is getting soft? Or is this a sign that air is coming out of the Silicon Valley bubble, and that touches enough people on the Pacific coast to have a bigger impact than you’d expect? Tech titans are finally being depicted as 21st century robber barons. They aren’t used to having their status as Masters of the Universe questioned, let alone having their economic interests targeted.
For instance, the lead story today in all the business press is that the Department of Justice is launching an investigation into whether “online platforms” were hurting competition. It’s easy to depict this as a gambit for the US to get in front of the European Commission’s competition ministry, which is threatening to become more stringent. Recall also that France is threatening to impose a transactions tax that would hit 24 large tech players, many of them American. From the Financial Times:
The US Department of Justice announced a broad antitrust investigation into the leading online platforms, raising the stakes in Washington’s scrutiny of Big Tech’s power over growing parts of the economy.
The agency said it would look into how the platforms had achieved their market power, and whether they were “engaging in practices that have reduced competition, stifled innovation or otherwise harmed consumers”….
The DoJ move comes after the outgoing European Commission signalled it was also looking to become more aggressive in checking the market power of the largest online platform companies. A report issued in April recommended lowering the bar for companies deemed “dominant players”, subjecting them to stricter antitrust rules.
Donald Trump has been critical of the EU’s scrutiny of American tech groups, suggesting it should be US rather than European authorities investigating wrongdoing by the technology sector.
It’s obvious the DoJ intent is to blunt whatever the Europeans might do. But it’s hard to see how that can work. The EU can set the rules for its own market, which is so large that it will impose costs on tech giants, both via reducing their revenues and/or profits, and by requiring them to do business differently. That imposes costs via having to make changes to their systems and procedures and forces them to incur ongoing costs via having more balkanized operations.
Mr. Market took note, with Facebook and Amazon shares falling more than a percent in after-hours trading, while Google recovered from a similar drop. The pink paper described how there have been jurisdictional issues regarding which agency, the Federal Trade Commission or the DoJ, should be taking the lead not just with respect to the general question of anti-trust but also with respect to particular companies.
It’s admittedly a long time before anything happens legally but the presumption of tech virtue is over, and that’s a step in the right direction.

Here’s why Tesla’s Model Y announcement is ‘fodder for the bears’
© Bloomberg News/Landov
Tesla Inc.’s Model Y may, at last, have a reveal date, but the timing of the announcement could provide more “fodder for the bears” than act as a catalyst for the stock, analysts at RBC said Monday.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted Sunday that the compact SUV’s unveiling is set for March 14 at the company’s Los Angeles-area design studio. The news came just days after Musk announced plans for a $35,000, shorter-range Model 3.
Announcing the cheaper Model 3 last week was an indicator that demand for higher-end Model 3 vehicles “has not been as strong as the company expected,” said the RBC analysts, led by Joseph Spak.
And announcing the Model Y unveil shortly after that “suggests that consumer reaction toward the $35k Model 3 may not have been as strong as the company had hoped.”
Related: Meet the ‘O.G.’ Uber and Lyft drivers who could cash in on the IPOs
Tesla shares fell more than 3% on Monday, slipping under $300. The shares have lost 15% in the past 12 months, compared with gains of around 3.4% for the S&P 500 index. (SPX)
“We expect the Model Y launch to also require deposits to order,” the analysts said.
When the Model 3 was first announced, the company took in more than 400,000 orders at $1,000 each, “effectively” a raise around $400 million, they said.
Ordering the cheaper $35,000 Model 3 requires a $2,500 deposit. That is “notable timing,” the analysts said, since Tesla on Friday repaid $920 million in convertible notes, likely using up a quarter of its cash.
“We believe there has been a fall-off in U.S. demand and softer-than-expected demand in Europe/China,” they said in the Sunday note. “Price cuts on the Model S/X/3 globally supports the view that overall demand has softened.”

Moreover, as Tesla grows its fleet, service and quality have been under stress, the analysts said.
“More customers are growing frustrated and more potential customers are likely to know someone who has had a bad experience. To be clear, we don’t mean to imply that service (and quality) issues are rampant, but they are occurring,” and enthusiasm for the brand might be lower than when Tesla launched the Model 3 three years ago, they said.
The Model Y announcement could also further impact Model 3 demand since “we believe consumers prefer CUVs,” the RBC analysts said.

Understanding these features will help you identify the right configuration for your lifestyle.
Researching the Market
Los Angeles is a vibrant market for electric vehicles, and it’s essential to conduct thorough research before making your purchase.
Pricing Trends: Investigate the current market prices for new and used Tesla Model Y for sale los angeles vehicles. Websites like Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds can provide valuable insights into fair pricing based on the model year, mileage, and condition.
Availability: Check multiple sources for available Model Y listings, including Tesla’s official website, local dealerships, and online marketplaces. The availability of different trims and options may vary, so exploring all avenues will increase your chances of finding the right vehicle.
Local Incentives: California offers various incentives for electric vehicle purchases, such as rebates and tax credits. Research any available incentives that may apply to your purchase of a Tesla Model Y, as these can significantly reduce your overall costs.
Deciding Between New and Used
When considering a Tesla Model Y, you’ll need to make a decision about whether to buy new or used. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages.
Buying New: A new Model Y allows you to customize features and ensures you receive the latest technology and warranty coverage. However, new cars typically depreciate quickly, which can be a downside if you plan to sell or trade it in later.
Buying Used: A used Model Y can offer significant savings, especially if you find one that is still under warranty. However, it’s essential to conduct thorough research on the vehicle’s history and condition to avoid potential issues.
Determining your budget and preferences will help you decide which option is best for you.
Understanding Tesla's Warranty and Service
Tesla vehicles come with a comprehensive warranty, which is a crucial consideration when buying a Model Y.
Warranty Coverage: The Model Y typically comes with a four-year or mile limited warranty, along with an eight-year or mile battery and drive unit warranty, depending on the version. Understanding the warranty details can provide peace of mind, especially if you opt for a used vehicle.
Service Options: Tesla has a unique service model, often utilizing mobile service vans to perform repairs and maintenance. Familiarize yourself with the service options available in Los Angeles and consider the convenience of Tesla’s mobile services.
Test Driving the Model Y
A test drive is a critical step in the buying process, allowing you to experience the Model Y firsthand.
Schedule a Test Drive: You can schedule a test drive through Tesla’s website or visit a local dealership. During the test drive, pay attention to how the car handles, its responsiveness, and the comfort of the interior.
Evaluate Features: Take the time to explore the technology and features during your test drive. Familiarize yourself with the touchscreen interface, Autopilot capabilities, and any additional options you may be considering.
Consider Range Needs: If you plan to use the Model Y for long commutes or road trips, consider how the range meets your needs. Ensure that you can comfortably charge the vehicle at home or find charging stations along your routes.
Financing Your Tesla Model Y
Understanding your financing options is essential for making a sound financial decision when purchasing a Tesla Model Y.
Loan Options: Explore different financing options, including loans from banks, credit unions, and Tesla’s own financing programs. Compare interest rates and terms to find the best deal.
Leasing vs. Buying: Determine whether leasing or buying is more suitable for your situation. Leasing may provide lower monthly payments and the option to upgrade to a new model after a few years, while buying allows you to own the vehicle outright.
Trade-In Value: If you have a vehicle to trade in, research its value beforehand. Knowing the trade-in value can give you leverage when negotiating the price of the Model Y.
Preparing for Ownership
Once you've decided to purchase a Tesla Model Y, there are several practical considerations to keep in mind.
Home Charging: Installing a home charging station can greatly enhance your electric vehicle experience. Consider investing in a Level 2 charger for faster charging times, making it convenient to charge your Model Y overnight.
Public Charging Stations: Familiarize yourself with the public charging infrastructure in Los Angeles. Tesla’s Supercharger network is extensive, and knowing where to find charging stations can alleviate range anxiety during longer trips.
Insurance Considerations: Shop around for insurance quotes to find the best coverage for your Model Y. Electric vehicles may have different insurance rates, so it’s advisable to compare options.
Understanding Local Regulations and Incentives
California has been a leader in electric vehicle adoption, offering various incentives and regulations that can affect your purchase.
Incentives: Research any state or local incentives for electric vehicle purchases. These might include tax credits, rebates, and reduced registration fees, which can help offset the cost of your Model Y.
Emissions Regulations: Be aware of any local regulations regarding electric vehicles. California has ambitious goals for reducing emissions, and understanding these regulations can inform your decision-making.
Joining the Tesla Community
Owning a Tesla Model Y also means becoming part of a vibrant community of electric vehicle enthusiasts.
Online Forums and Social Media: Engage with online communities, forums, and social media groups dedicated to Tesla owners. These platforms can provide valuable insights, tips, and support as you navigate your ownership experience.
Local Meetups and Events: Participate in local Tesla meetups and events in Los Angeles. These gatherings offer opportunities to connect with other owners, share experiences, and learn more about maximizing your Tesla ownership.
Maintenance and Care
Maintaining your Tesla Model Y is crucial for ensuring its longevity and performance. While electric vehicles generally require less maintenance than traditional gas-powered cars, there are still important considerations.
Regular Software Updates: Tesla frequently releases over-the-air software updates that improve performance and add new features. Ensure your vehicle is updated regularly to benefit from these enhancements.
Tire Maintenance: Keep an eye on tire health, as electric vehicles can experience faster tire wear due to their weight and torque. Regularly check tire pressure and tread depth, and rotate tires as recommended.
Brake System: Tesla vehicles utilize regenerative braking, which can extend the life of your brake pads. However, it’s still important to have your brake system checked during routine maintenance.
Future-Proofing Your Purchase
As electric vehicle technology rapidly evolves, it’s wise to consider future-proofing your purchase.
Battery Technology: Tesla is continually improving battery technology, which enhances range and performance. When purchasing a Model Y, consider how long you plan to keep the vehicle and whether future battery advancements may influence your decision.
Autonomous Features: Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities are under constant development. If you’re interested in these features, ensure your Model Y is equipped with the necessary hardware and consider the potential for future updates.
Resale Value: Electric vehicles generally hold their value well, particularly popular models like the Tesla Model Y. Be mindful of the vehicle’s condition and mileage, as these factors can significantly impact resale value.
Conclusion
Navigating the Tesla Model Y market in Los Angeles offers an exciting opportunity to embrace electric driving while enjoying the benefits of a cutting-edge vehicle. By understanding the features of the Model Y, conducting thorough research, and being aware of local incentives and regulations, you can make an informed decision that aligns with your needs and budget. Whether you choose to buy new or used, the Model Y provides a unique blend of performance, technology, and sustainability. With the right preparation and knowledge, you can confidently embark on your journey to owning one of the most innovative vehicles on the market. Happy car shopping!

'Code red': Elon Musk and Tesla in survival mode as dark financial clouds circle
"There are dark clouds forming over Fremont," Ives said in an interview, referring to the site of Tesla's car factory in California. Loading A storm was already brewing in January, when Musk announced that 2,500 workers, 7 per cent of the workforce, would be laid off. That came after 9 per cent were laid off the previous June, with Musk saying, "We are making this hard decision now so we never have to do this again." After two profitable quarters in late 2018, it seemed the time had come for Musk to buckle down and make good on his promise to deliver a mass-market car efficiently and profitably. Then came the first quarter from hell. Tesla's financial condition has only deteriorated since then. Musk has responded on two tracks: He's watching every penny of expense, while talking up a series of projects with varying degrees of likely completion - from a new Model Y crossover to a robo-taxi service he employed to pitch the recent stock and bond sale. In the past such products, like the Tesla semi, while derided by critics as vehicular vaporware, have managed to boost the stock price. No more. Although Ives said he does not believe Tesla is on the brink of bankruptcy, he said the company is headed toward a cash crisis without another capital raise, even after the $US2 billion it raised from stock and convertible bonds sold earlier this month. "Demand has been extremely disappointing this year," Ives said. The Tesla story has shifted from "glass half full to glass half empty." Patience, he said, "is wearing thin." The grim situation was laid bare in March, when Tesla turned in a disastrous first quarter. At a time when the company should have been ramping toward the "exponential growth" long promised by Musk, automobile revenue was down 41 per cent, leading to a $US702-million net loss and $US640-million negative operating cash flow.
Tesla announced it is cutting the prices of its two most expensive models, the Model S and the Model X SUV. Credit:Bloomberg While cash on hand fell to $US2.2 billion at the end of the quarter, what many analysts saw as a dangerously low level, Musk raised some more. On the May 3 call about that stock-and-bond deal, Musk told investors, "We don't expect to spend this capital. We expect to fund our activity out of our growing cash flow" as a "buffer" to a possible recession or automobile industry downturn. But he revealed a different use for that cash - day-to-day expenses - in a cost-cutting memo to employees on Thursday that prompted the stock-price smack-down. Musk wrote that the money "actually only gives us approximately 10 months at the first-quarter burn rate to achieve breakeven." Hence, his edict to "examine every expenditure at Tesla no matter how small, and be sure it is critical." Tesla's chief financial officer will sign every page of outgoing expenses, Musk said, and "I will personally review and sign every 10th page," adding: "This is hardcore." Loading Meanwhile, the market appears to be taking a more skeptical view of what Ives calls Tesla's "sci-fi projects." The robo-taxi idea took a big hit last week when federal safety regulators said Tesla's Autopilot driver-assist system was turned on 10 seconds before a Tesla in Florida, drove underneath a semitrailer in March, slicing off the roof of the car and decapitating the driver. That's the second time that's happened with Autopilot engaged. T. Rowe Price, once one of Tesla's largest investors, announced in government filings last week that it had cut its Tesla stake by 81 per cent in the first quarter, further pressuring Tesla's stock premium. To remain an ongoing concern, Tesla must sell enough cars with a high enough profit margin to keep the lights on, never mind expanding into other product categories. Either that or raise yet more capital. As it is, Tesla is paying a rising price for capital. Bonds due in 2025 that carry a 5.3 per cent coupon reached more than 9 per cent yield last week, which according to Bloomberg is well above the average yield for a company with the same rating. And as time goes on, capital may become even more expensive for Tesla. That puts heavy pressure on boosting sales while further cutting costs. In the first quarter, Tesla delivered 63,000 cars. Musk forecasts 90,000 for the second quarter. Most analysts predict more than 63,000 but less than 90,000, but with lower average selling prices as the lesser-priced Model 3 replaces sales of older models. On the cost-cutting front, Tesla has already pushed research and development and capital spending toward historical lows.
Some of Tesla's biggest investors have been lowering their stakes in the company. Credit:Bloomberg Few are predicting cash will flow at the volume Tesla needs. The only hope is that sales pick up dramatically in the second half of the year. While Ives has switched from optimism to pessimism, joining a growing roster of Tesla critics and short sellers, some company champions are hanging in. Ross Gerber, a longtime Tesla bull and founder of the Santa Monica investment firm Gerber Kawasaki, has tempered his enthusiasm, but he said he still believes Tesla can prevail if Musk makes changes such as bringing in a chief operating officer. "The issue is it's never going to be a smooth ride with Elon," Gerber said. "But I have confidence over time it will work out.... We don't see the existential risk of bankruptcy as an issue for them." Tesla just launched the Model Y — here’s why it’s the company’s most important car, Defence Online
The Tesla Model Y is the sixth first “clean sheet” structure the upstart all-electrical automaker has unveiled.
The Tesla Design Y is a crossover SUV, and that’s the most popular section in the vehicle business enterprise these times.
The Model Y could be Tesla’s most crucial car or truck for the foreseeable future.
Tesla unveiled its Model Y crossover SUV at the company’s design studio around Los Angeles about a 7 days in the past. The auto has been a great deal predicted – not so a lot for any “Wow!” factor (crossovers are form of a monotonous phase), but since the section is purple-sizzling at the moment for profits, and Tesla can use all the funds it can get.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the Model Y could sooner or later outsell each and every other Tesla combined, and he’s likely justified in thinking that. Crossovers have dethroned sedans in the US, the world’s most dynamic and aggressive auto sector. And the Product Y’s pricing will span the upper conclude of the mass current market and stretch into the reduced reaches of the luxurious room: $40-$60,000.
But the Design Y also wants to produce in overseas marketplaces, especially China, wherever Tesla is developing a new manufacturing facility. The new vehicle’s versatility will be a vital factor for new consumers globally.
So you get the strategy: the Model Y is Essential. Listed here are some additional particulars on why.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the Model Y at the carmaker’s style and design studio around Los Angeles.
I was on hand to verify out Tesla’s most recent set of wheels. And here’s why that set of wheels is Tesla’s most important.

1. Tesla is now a authentic vehicle firm. Musk rolled out the complete Tesla spouse and children, which includes the Semi and New Roadster. Ten a long time in the past, the company was offering 1 vehicle. It now has a lineup of 3 autos, and if you incorporate the forthcoming versions, 6.

2. Crossover SUVs are providing like hotcakes! Individuals in the US have replaced sedans with SUVs. Many automakers be expecting the mix to be 70-80% SUVs and trucks to 20-30% sedans in coming decades. Tesla has been late to this match — but with the Model Y, it’s arrived.

3. The crossover pattern will most likely prolong to developing marketplaces — and Tesla has huge strategies for China. Tesla is developing a factory in Shanghai that will be optimized to manufacture the Design Y, on the assumption that Chinese customers will go for the vehicle’s flexibility.

4. Two cost-effective autos — the Design 3 sedan and Design Y crossover — could carry in the earnings Tesla requires to establish a pickup and redesign more mature types. The Design S and Design X have been all around given that 2012 and 2015, respectively, and could use refreshes.

5. Good Design Y product sales and leasing could compel Tesla to start off offering a lot more of its own funding. Tesla takes advantage of banking partners to set up substantially of its financing. But that implies it’s leaving income on the desk. The Design Y could convey in the cash to help Tesla to compose its personal automobile loans.

Tesla's long-awaited Model Y electric SUV arrives next year, but you'll have to wait for the $39,000 version
New Post has been published on https://nexcraft.co/teslas-long-awaited-model-y-electric-suv-arrives-next-year-but-youll-have-to-wait-for-the-39000-version/
Tesla's long-awaited Model Y electric SUV arrives next year, but you'll have to wait for the $39,000 version
We first heard about the Tesla Model Y all the way back in 2015, when Elon Musk tweeted (and then deleted) a cryptic teaser for an all-electric SUV that would be much cheaper than the luxury-oriented Model X. Last night, at an event in Los Angeles, Musk took the stage to officially reveal the Model Y, which will start rolling out to customers in 2020. Here’s what you need to know about the electric vehicle that’s probably going to sell faster than a novelty flame thrower.
It’s a lot like a Model 3
Despite the Model Y’s crossover SUV-style design, the vehicle shares roughly 75 percent of its parts with the Model 3. Sadly, that means your new affordable electric crossover vehicle won’t get those fancy falcon wing doors found on the higher-end Model X. The Model Y checks in roughly 10 percent bigger than the model 3 sedan, which is already the best-selling electric vehicle on the market, and that extra room allows it to have three rows of seats and can fit up to seven people at once.
The heavy overlap between the Model 3 and its new SUV sibling makes sense since the process of getting the 3 into manufacturing nearly broke the company and its impulsively tweeting CEO. The Model 3 lessons were hard-learned for the company, so applying them in a new vehicle will hopefully help avoid long delays and possible quality control issues as they roll out of the factory.
There are four different versions
Here’s a rundown of the upcoming Model Y options.
The ** Dual Motor AWD Performance** configuration is the most expensive at $60,000. It will have a 280-mile maximum range and go from 0-60 mph in roughly 3.5 seconds. However, those two things are mutually exclusive depending on your driving style since fast acceleration and long battery life do not mix. It arrives in Fall 2020.
The Dual Motor AWD Long Range model will cost $51,000 and will also arrive in Fall 2020. It promises the same 280 mile range, and though the 0-60 mph time drops to 4.8 seconds (which is still plenty fast), you get the benefit of all-wheel drive.
The rear-wheel drive Long Range version is the last model we’ll see in Fall 2020 (assuming no delays) and will eclipse the 300 mile range mark for $47,000.
Like with the Model 3, the cheapest Standard Range option is slated last for release. Starting in Spring 2021, the Standard Range Model Y will do 230 miles on a charge with a sticker price of $39,000. Even at this entry-level, it will still do 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 mph.
Tesla will probably sell a lot of them
The sales charts for SUVs and crossover vehicles has steadily increased over the past decade thanks to cheaper gas prices and improving fuel efficiency as well as an ever-increasing need for kids to get to soccer practice. Last year, the top three vehicles sold in the U.S. were, of course, pickup trucks, but the three after that were the Toyota Rav-4, Nissan Rogue, and Honda CR-V, respectively. At the same time, Tesla sold roughly 111,000 of its Model 3 sedans, which would make it the best-selling “luxury” vehicle in the U.S. market.
The model Y takes both of those trends and smashes them together in a conglomeration of metal, rubber, and big 15-inch screens in the cockpit.
It will have some competition
Just a few weeks ago, Volvo announced the Polestar 2, which promises to break the 300 mile-per-charge barrier and improve upon its predecessor for a price comparable to the Model Y’s higher-end versions. There are other competitors up the food chain as well, like Jaguar with its i-Pace electric SUV and even upstart companies like Rivian, which is promising an SUV-style body for its modular EV drivetrain setup.
How to buy it
If you’re already set on buying a Model Y, you can pre-order one by coughing up a $2,500 downpayment. Collecting deposits to fund manufacturing is a trademark Elon Musk move. And while the overlap between the Model 3 and Model Y production processes should help avoid delays, the bad taste from the long wait for the Model 3 may linger a little too much for some buyers.

Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
Many people who are interested in the electrification of transportation often point out that there is only a limited - if not almost non-existent - choice for them in the niche of light trucks that can be connected.
If that was true a few years ago, it is now less and less so ... and it will not be so at the beginning of the next decade.
Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
Electric light trucks are coming
Extremely popular, light trucks (SUVs, crossovers, minivans and light trucks) now represent the vast majority of Canadian and North American sales. In fact, eight of the top ten best-selling vehicles in Canada are now light trucks.
However, if few of these vehicles are partially or fully electrified, the supply will grow significantly over the next few months and years. Indeed, general manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Ford, General Motors and Nissan plan to market models within the next two to three years that can meet the needs of buyers seeking both a larger vehicle and more practical than a car , while being able to be connected.
Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
The awakening of Mitsubishi
For those who were skeptical about Canadians' interest in a pluggable light truck, the undeniable success of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (rechargeable hybrid) in Canada has awakened many. In fact, sales of this vehicle exceeded 5,000 in Canada in 2018, making Canada the world's third largest Outlander PHEV sales market, behind Japan and Great Britain. It should be noted that nearly 50% of sales of this rechargeable hybrid SUV were made in Quebec.
Many wonder how it happens that the Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford and GM of this world did not realize earlier the huge sales potential of this type of vehicle in plug-in version. All the better for Mitsubishi, which shatters sales records. Too bad for others.
The late awakening of Europeans
At European manufacturers, if there are many partially electric light trucks that are offered by BMW (X5 40th), Mercedes-Benz (GLC 350th), Volvo (XC60 and XC90 T8) and Porsche (Cayenne e-hybrid) since a few years, these models offer a timid or even anemic electric autonomy, oscillating between the 15 to 30 kilometers for an additional cost difficult to justify.
In short, Europeans have been so far behind in terms of electric vehicles, stuck in trying to sell light trucks running on "clean" diesel.
This situation is however about to change with the recent arrival of the Jaguar I-Pace and the next ones of the Audi e-tron quattro , Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and Mercedes-Benz GLE PHEV with 100 kilometers of electric autonomy announced.
To these European SUVs will be added the electric Kia Niro (385 kilometers of autonomy), Hyundai Kona electric (415 kilometers of autonomy) and Subaru Crosstrek rechargeable hybrid ... with 28 kilometers of electric autonomy.
Were you aware ... that light trucks are also starting to electrify
Only the vans will remain
If Tesla has awakened the general manufacturers as to the interest of switching to electric vehicles with its Model S, X and 3, it seems that another small manufacturer still unknown is in the process of brewing the world of vans: Rivian.
At the 2018 edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show, this new US-based manufacturer unveiled two vehicles, an SUV ( R1S ) and a pickup truck ( R1T ) that disheveled more than one.
Powerful, daring and offering up to 640 kilometers of range, they have left more than one observer uneasy, even urging Ford, GM and Tesla to announce the upcoming arrival of their own electrified trucks.
If the North American customer base of Ford F-150 , RAM 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado is generally a little more conservative than average, there is no doubt that there will be a market for partially and fully electric vans.
In the next two to three years, many light truckers should be able to find a partially or fully electric model that will meet their needs.

Researching Online Listings
Begin your search for a Tesla Model X deal in Los Angeles by delving into online listings. Numerous websites and platforms specialize in listing new and used cars, including Tesla's official website, as well as third-party marketplaces like Autotrader, Cars.com, and Craigslist. These platforms offer robust search filters, allowing you to narrow down your options based on price range, mileage, features, and location.
As you browse online listings, pay close attention to key factors such as the vehicle's condition, mileage, and price. Look for listings that provide comprehensive information and high-quality photos to help you assess the car's overall condition accurately. Don't hesitate to reach out to sellers for additional details or to schedule a test drive to get a firsthand experience of the Model X.
Visiting Local Dealerships
Another avenue for finding deals on a Tesla Model X in LA is to visit local dealerships that specialize in electric vehicles or luxury cars. Tesla operates showrooms and service centers throughout the area, where you can explore the Model X in person, test drive it, and consult with knowledgeable sales representatives who can provide guidance and support.
In addition to Tesla's own showrooms, there are authorized dealerships that sell both new and used Tesla vehicles. Visiting these dealerships broadens your options and may uncover deals on pre-owned Model Xs that fit your budget and preferences. Inquire about certified pre-owned (CPO) options, as these vehicles undergo rigorous inspections and reconditioning to meet manufacturer standards, offering additional peace of mind for buyers.
Networking and Word of Mouth
Networking and word of mouth can be invaluable in your quest for a tesla model x for sale los angeles deal in LA. Reach out to your network of friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances who own Tesla vehicles or are familiar with the local electric vehicle community. Heavenly Ascent: Why TIME Named Halo Top Its Ice Cream of the Year
Halo Top keeps topping itself when it comes to accolades. The latest—the low-calorie ice cream sensation was named one of TIME‘s “25 Best Innovations” of 2017, joining such heady company as the iPhone X and Tesla Model 3.
Concocted in his kitchen in a Cuisinart by a California-based attorney-turned-entrepreneur, Justin Woolverton, the low-sugar, protein-packed ice cream had a slow ramp-up for a few years—until consumer trial in local stores built Halo Top into a mania. Sales increased by a whopping 2,500% in 2016, and Halo Top now beats Ben & Jerry’s and all other brands as the best-selling ice-cream pint in America.
Such is the brand’s confidence that it has even produced a quirky short film this year that it distributed to cinemas to play before movies.
The keys to Halo Top’s success: the use of stevia and sugar alcohol, which is sweet but contains fewer calories than sugar, and a riot of 25 flavors that include Cinnamon Roll and Lemon Cake. Its name—and eye-catching packaging, with its gold-rimmed lids—also perform a certain magic for the brand.
Halo Top, it turns out, started life as Eden Creamery but Woolverton knew they could do better. “We picked the most inoffensive [name] we could” from a list of 300 potential names backin 2o13, Wolverton told us about stumbling on “Halo Top” as its brand name. “And who knows what it means? Who knows what ‘Starbucks’ means?”
Call it divine inspiration. TIME rhapsodizes that Halo Top “sounds almost too good to be true” because it passes the ice cream taste-and-texture test and yet never exceeds 360 calories per pint, giving Americans what Woolverton calls “an option to eat ice cream again.”
Not that they need permission; nor is the ice cream innovator resting on its accolades. Woolverton has opened his first brick-and-mortar Halo Top Scoop Shop in Los Angeles, introducing low-calorie soft-serve ice cream and such “secret ingredients” as “puffle” cones in flavors such as chocolate and red velvet.

Yes, Even You, Elon: Sheriff Tells Tesla to Halt Fremont Production
Propping up your $900 stock price and cranking out the new Tesla Model Y is not “essential business.” And so the Alameda County Sheriff told Tesla Tuesday to cease operations at its massive Fremont, California, plant outside San Francisco. This a day after Bay Area counties told employers to shut down non-essential businesses and have employees shelter at home for three weeks in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Tesla’s largest factory is in Fremont. It had just begun producing, and shipping, the first Model Y compact SUVs in a manner previously unheard of for Tesla: ahead of schedule.
Tesla: @Tesla is not an essential business as defined in the Alameda County Health Order. Tesla can maintain minimum basic operations per the Alameda County Health Order.
— Alameda County Sheriff (@ACSOSheriffs) March 17, 2020
Per the tweet Tuesday from Alameda County Sheriff’s office, “Tesla can maintain minimum basic operations.” That would certainly include security at the 370-acre site with 5.3 million square feet of manufacturing and office space – think 50 Home Depots or 100 football fields – plus maintenance staff, and plus a skeleton office staff if they can’t work from home. But it doesn’t include the 10,000-plus workers at the facility, many of whom ride crowded shuttles to remote parking sites. The Los Angeles Times described this scene Tuesday morning at daybreak:
The parking lot was packed to capacity with about 3,000 cars, as dozens of morning-shift workers searched for overlooked spaces. Workers even parked in fire lanes. Dozens of shuttles and full-size buses ferried morning workers to the factory and took night-shift workers away. Departing workers packed shoulder to shoulder at the door of each bus, waiting to get on. The buses take workers to offsite lots and as far away as Tracy and Stockton.
There had been confusion Monday night when Alameda County spokesman Ray Kelly said Tesla qualified as an “essential business.” Twenty-four hours later, Kelly flipped and said while he believed that to be true Monday – probably meaning someone above him believed that to be the case – “Tesla is not an essential business as defined in the Alameda County health order.”
Replying to the Sheriff’s closure order: the wit and wisdom of the twitterverse.
Naturally, this wouldn’t be Tesla without drama and virtual fistfights online. Above is a selection of comments on the stop-production order, saying, for instance, that some vocal proponents of stopping Fremont production are short-sellers of Tesla stock (who make money if it goes down) … that it’s not clear what’s a basic minimum operation (see below) … and that Tesla workers are left in the dark.
As in many areas that have either ordered or urged non-essential businesses to close, the exceptions include, per the Alameda County order:
Healthcare operations (obviously)
Businesses provide food, shelter (as opposed to a tax shelter), social services
“Necessities of life” for the poor or needy
Sellers of both fresh and non-perishable foods including 7-Eleven type stores
Gas stations, banks, cleaners
“Businesses and services necessary for maintaining the safety, sanitation and essential operation of a residence.”
What other car-related businesses are exempted? “Gas stations and auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities.” Automobile manufacturing is not. The Fremont plant makes the Model 3, Model X, Model S, and now the Model Y compact SUV.
Tesla shocked the world by announcing that not only it would ship the Model Y on time but that the first cars were being delivered to the first-in-line customers (Tesla employees) this week, almost a half-year ahead of schedule. The company was obviously hoping to produce more of everything but especially the Model Y. Tesla has been hoping to produce a half-million cars in 2020.
Easy come, easy go: Tesla stock this week is trading at 40% of its peak value, $969, a month ago when the company was worth $140 billion (chart: NASDAQ/Google)
Tesla is mostly about cars, electrification, and the triumph of technology. But it’s also about stock price. Tesla earlier this soared to as much as $969 a share last month and a market cap (capitalization, the stock price multiplied by the number of shares held by investors) of more than $175 billion, more than the value of GM, Ford, and the USA parts of Fiat Chrysler.
Even as the stock market as a whole suffered the fastest major correction (read: precipitous fall) in history in the span of a few days, things have been even tougher if you held TSLA. Shares are down about 60 percent from their peak in February 2020. Anyone who bought Tesla stock before late December (at around $400) is still above water. People who bought since then have problems.
In spite of this, Tesla’s future seems bright: In the US where 70 percent of new car sales are non-sedans, the Model Y could become Tesla’s biggest seller, since it’s an SUV where the current best-seller Model 3 is a sedan. Additionally, investors who want the purest stock market play on battery electric vehicles have turned to Tesla, since that’s all they make: EVs.
Or this week, EVs are all they’re not making.

Musk defies skeptics, meets Tesla delivery goal; shares hit record
(Reuters) – Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) beat Wall Street estimates for annual vehicle deliveries and met the low-end of its own target, sending shares to a record high in a vindication for Chief Executive Elon Musk after a few turbulent years.
Boosted by demand for its mass-produced Model 3 sedans as overseas sales pick up, Tesla on Friday said it delivered 112,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter, including 92,550 Model 3s and 19,450 Model S/X SUVs, which was above expectations of 104,960 vehicles, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
In total, the Silicon Valley carmaker delivered approximately 367,500 vehicles during all of 2019, just meeting the low end of its target to deliver 360,000 to 400,000 vehicles in 2019.
Tesla shares were up as much as 5.5% at $454, touching a record high.
The stock has had a strong run in recent months after posting a rare profit in the latest quarter and news of China ramp up. With a market valuation of more than $80 billion, Tesla is far outstripping those of traditional carmakers General Motors Co (GM.N) and Ford Motor Co (F.N).
The delivery results defy skeptics of Musk, whose mercurial behavior over the last two years came under close scrutiny from federal regulators and shareholders of Tesla.
Musk, who has more than 30 million Twitter followers, has a history of firing off tweets that resulted in an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a defamation trial against him.
The Tesla CEO settled the SEC complaint for $20 million in 2018 and a Los Angeles jury cleared Musk in the defamation case in December.
CHINA RAMP-UP
Tesla also provided an update on its Shanghai factory, which has started churning out Model 3 cars. It said the plant demonstrated a production run-rate capability of more than 3,000 units per week.
The $2-billion factory, Tesla’s first car manufacturing site outside the United States, is the centerpiece of its ambitions to boost sales in the world’s biggest auto market and avoid higher import tariffs imposed on U.S.-made cars.
A company representative on Thursday said that Tesla will deliver its first China-made Model 3 sedans to the public on Jan. 7.
The Model 3 is Tesla’s most affordable car, with lower-range versions available starting at $35,000.
Tesla’s fourth-quarter production number of 104,891 signifies that the production woes of the past have been rectified, Canaccord Genuity analyst Jed Dorsheimer said.
“The recently escalating geopolitical uncertainties driving oil prices higher are likely to create a tailwind for TSLA shares,” Dorsheimer added.
Analysts have questioned how rapidly Tesla’s vehicle sales will grow as government subsidies for electric vehicle purchases dwindle in the United States, China, and other markets. Some analysts consider those subsidies the biggest driver for Tesla purchases.
