Gates to Heck Chapter 4
"Shishou, I can't find him."
"Of course you can't." Reigen had a slightly manic look on his face, which had been there ever since Teru vanished into thin air. "He's not here anymore. Did he teleport? Can he do that?"
"I think it used up the last of his energy," said Shigeo. "It was already so low. Now I can't find his aura at all. I don't think he's in Seasoning anymore."
Shigeo took out his cellphone, ignoring the missed calls, and speed dialed Teru.
Teru was the one who had programmed his speed dial numbers. Number one was for home, two was for Ritsu, three was for Reigen, and four was for Teru. Shigeo was number one in Teru's phone.
An American pop song began its muffled chorus from somewhere in Teru's jacket, which was still sitting on the coffee table.
"Oh," Shigeo realized. "He doesn't have his shoes either."
There was a knock at the door that made both of them jump and Shigeo frown. As far as he knew, he was still the only person to visit Teru's apartment. Except for Claw.
He intercepted Reigen to answer the door himself, which was probably for the best, since the person on the other side already appeared to be in a bad mood, and Reigen would have only made it worse.
"Ritsu!"
Shigeo should have noticed the familiar aura sooner, but all he could think about were Teru's feet. It was starting to get dark outside, and the temperature was dropping too. The fever might have been failure-induced, but it could still be exacerbated by exposure to the elements. Teru was definitely going to need a hospital after this.
"Tell Hanazawa-kun that if he's going to keep you late, he should at least have the courtesy to ask first. Mom was worried when you didn't show up for dinner. Did you leave your phone on silent again, Nii-san?"
Now all Shigeo could think about was how Teru didn't have anyone to worry about him when his phone went unanswered or when he was late to dinner. He didn't even have anyone to eat dinner with.
Teru's living situation had seemed normal enough to Shigeo when they first met. A lot of Japanese children lived alone so they could attend better schools, and Black Vinegar was one of the best middle schools in Seasoning City.
Of course, most of them didn't start living alone until high school.
Not elementary school.
Shigeo hugged his brother. It wasn't a rare occurrence, but it was unusual enough to break off Ritu's tirade. At least until he saw Reigen.
"Did you rope them into another one of your jobs? I swear-"
"Save your energy, Otouto-kun," said Reigen, who seemed to have found his bearings again under the familiar power of Ritsu's glare. "I think it's gonna' be a long night."
Ritsu bristled like a cat. "I'm not helping you with whatever shady-"
That was when Teru's jacket started to vibrate.
They might not have even heard it if it hadn't been resting on the hard surface of the coffee table. Reigen patted the jacket down until he found a cellphone tucked into one of its pockets.
"That isn't Hanazawa-kun's phone," said Shigeo. They had just heard Teru's phone ring. Reigen was holding a cheap looking flip phone that Shigeo had never seen before.
Reigen answered it with an unsettlingly accurate Teruki Hanazawa impression. "Moshi moshi."
"Who the hell is this?" said the person on the other end.
"Who were you expecting?"
There was a snort. "He calls himself the Kaijin."
Reigen's eyebrow twitched. "What do you call yourself?"
"Misunderstood."
"You-"
"Look, I don't really give a shit," the voice cut him off, "but if you do, then you might wanna' know that Kaijin is in trouble. One of his catches slipped the net, and it was the one that got a taste of his aura the other night. I just felt that same aura flare up, and if our missing man felt it too- well, my gut says he'll be out for payback. He seemed like a Taurus, you know?"
While Shigeo was still processing the first few words, Reigen said, "So why don't you help him?"
"I'm off the clock," the voice said lazily. "I was just calling to tell Kaijin to bring the guy in if he doesn't get himself killed first."
He hung up. Reigen tried to call him back but the phone didn't even ring before being routed to an unactivated voicemail box. He dropped it back onto the coffee table.
"What's going on?" asked Ritsu. "Where's Hanazawa-kun?"
"That's the million yen question," said Reigen. He signed and ran a sweaty palm down his face.
Ritsu wrinkled his nose. "Why did Joseph call him the Kaijin?"
"That's a long- Wait." Reigen twirled around and put both hands on Ritsu's shoulders. "You know who that was?"
"I think so. Let go of me."
"Who was it, Ritsu?" asked Shigeo.
"It sounded like Joseph," said Ritsu, brushing off his shoulders. "You know, from the government? Suzuki-kun calls him sometimes for updates about his father."
"And he answers?" asked Reigen.
Ritsu nodded.
Shigeo didn't have Shou's phone number saved to his speed dial, or even his contacts, but he knew who did.
"May I borrow your phone, Ritsu?"
Ritsu handed it over without question, and Shigeo scrolled through the contacts until he found Suzuki Shou (Arsonist).
Shou answered on the second ring. "Ritsu-kun!"
"Actually, it's Shigeo," he said. "I was wondering if you're available to help us blackmail a government assassin?"
"I'll get my coat!"

Some days it’s just too big. His emotions are too large, the world thick with spoiled milk, and his dreams plagued by fire and iron.
He hates those days.
Those cursed days.
The ones he dreads.
But on those days, he can find a reprieve from it all. He can curl close and let his powers dance around him in purple and blue oscillations. He can be covered in sunshine and lemons and taste sweet citrus. He can press close and crave and not be denied but welcomed with open arms and humid breaths that remind him he is so very loved.
They can sit on the edges of the ocean, their legs dangling off the breakwall as large waves crash into shore, their barriers keeping them dry and warm. He can lean down, tickle sides until his partner yells in delight, darting out to sea, floating in the air with a grin on his face, blond hair wild around his ocean eyes. He can let himself get lost in the chase, yellow and purple darting through twilight skies, leaving a trail of bright flowers in their wake, electricity zapping as they climb higher and higher until the sun rays hit them once more, blond hair blooming into orange, like the center of a star - A gleaming halo.
His partner, his dear sweet Teruki, looks at him with a grin so wide his eyes are squinting. Laughing so loud and boisterous, it causes his powers to spin around them in electric waves.
The laughter is infectious, but he can’t help but sob, the joy overwhelming him. Immediately there are soft hands on his cheeks, thumbs brushing away salty liquid as a concerned face leans into his.
He shakes his head.
No no, he is so happy. So, so incredibly happy.
A smile, highlighted crimson by the setting sun, stark in contrast to the dim clouds as his love leans down, their lips meet, and the sky explodes into a nebula.

Reading “the big empty” terumob fic on ao3 in which teru befriends a bunch of pigeons. [Y’know, those birds we domesticated, and then one day we decided we didn’t love them anymore so they were left to fend for themselves with no survival skills…]

Fashion is a Form of Ugliness so Intolerable that We Have to Alter it Every Six Months
Teru didn't have a couch, despite the rest of his furniture being Western in style, so when Shigeo came over they had to sit on the bed. They were lying side by side on their stomachs, reading the latest issue Shonen Jump, and relaxing after a busy day at the shopping arcade. The silence between them was almost comfortable.
They hadn't hung out much since what happened in February. Most of their time together was predicated upon Teru accidentally bumping into Shigeo, but that hadn't happened in a while. Not even when Shigeo made detours past his apartment, and Black Vinegar, and the Awakening Lab.
He was worried that Teru didn't want to spend time with him anymore, but Shigeo had finally screwed up his courage and texted first.
Teru had agreed immediately, and enthusiastically if the number of kaomojis was anything to go by.
They met at Takenoko-Dori, Teru's favorite shopping arcade. It was full of stalls selling spiked collars, bondage pants with legs wider than their waist, and T-shirts printed with esoteric designs.
Shigeo had bought a sweater that Teru picked out for him. It was an abstract black and white design, less interesting than the Hagemon shirt, but very soft.
Teru hadn't bought anything.
"Can I ask you a question?" Shigeo broke the almost-comfortable silence.
Teru looked up from the magazine. "Of course, Kageyama-kun! You can ask me anything."
"I'm not always very good at reading people, but the first time we went shopping together, you seemed excited. You were, right?"
Teru didn't stop smiling, but it tightened in a way that meant he didn't mean it. Shigeo was getting a little bit better at reading Teru's facial expressions, but it wasn't easy because most of them were smiles.
Teru sat up and crossed his legs. "Is this about the Hagemon shirt? I swear I was telling you the truth when I said it looked good on you. I wouldn't lie about something like that."
Shigeo blushed. "It's not that."
There was a pause before Teru's smile softened again. "Sorry if I sounded defensive. I've run into a couple of classmates outside of school that had some… creative things to say about my clothes. I guess it bothered me more than I would care to admit. Especially the idea that I… convinced you to buy something you didn't really want."
That made sense. Shigeo knew Teru used to be popular, but the last vestiges of that popularity had probably been shattered when Shigeo stripped, shaved, and beat him half to death. The first time.
"I like the Hagemon shirt. I like to see what you're wearing whenever we hang out. I look forward to it. I know it's not for my sake," he hurried to add, which made Teru's smile strain again for some reason. "I just… I admire your style. So I noticed…. You've been wearing the same shirt the last few times I've seen you out of uniform. Not that there's anything wrong with that! It's a nice shirt. It just… It doesn't seem like your usual style either. I was wondering if something was wrong?"
The question seemed to stump Teru, which was something that usually happened to Shigeo. He decided to give Teru a moment. He checked his phone.
"Shishou wants you to come by the office again. He said he wants your input on his new website design."
"I've seen it," Teru said distractedly. "It needs more flashing."
"I thought it needed an epilepsy warning," said Shigeo.
He was serious, but Teru laughed. There was even that little snort he usually tried to hide, although Shigeo didn't know why. It was a nice sound.
"I don't know who told you that you're bad at reading people." Teru plucked at the red shirt he was wearing yet again. "I thought this would be a basic staple piece when I got it, but to be honest, I'm sick of looking at it. I've actually been grateful for my school uniform. Not that it's a bad design. Just a little plain for my taste."
Shigeo didn't think purple plaid was plain, but that was what made Teru's fashion sense so fantastic. Even if his classmates said 'creative' things about it, they couldn't be as creative as Teru was.
"When Claw attacked that last time, they took out a good portion of my apartment." Teru rubbed the back of his head like this was somehow embarrassing. "Including my wardrobe. A bunch of my clothes were ruined. Well, not really ruined. I took them to my usual consignment store, and they didn't seem to notice anything wrong, even though they're really particular. I washed them first of course! I used vinegar, hydrogen peroxide…. No matter what I tried, I could still smell the smoke."
"Oh," said Shigeo. After his house burned down, it had been rebuilt from the ground up, but sometimes he still thought he could smell the smoke.
Teru laughed, but it wasn't the kind with the snort. "It was all in my head. Just like my fevers. It's so stupid. I guess I don't have enough problems if I have to keep making them for myself."
"I think you have enough problems," Shigeo said solemnly. At least he knew what to get Teru for his birthday next month.
Teru shrugged. "The fire wasn't even that big. Everything was fixed in a couple of weeks."
Shigeo hadn't seen Teru for a few weeks after their last confrontation with Claw either. "Where did you stay until-" he started to ask, but Teru was already waving him off.
"I still had plenty of boltholes around the city."
"Bolt… holes?" Shigeo didn't understand.
"You know, places to lay low. Places only a psychic could get to easily. Abandoned high-rise projects, stuff like that. When the housing bubble burst, it was great for boltholes."
Shigeo understood even less, but it sounded like Teru had spent several weeks essentially homeless. The guilt that was always crawling just beneath his skin nowadays rose up again to give him gooseflesh.
"Anyway," Teru was still talking, "I wanted to replace my clothes right away, but there were other expenses that took priority. Like walls."
Shigeo frowned. "Your parents didn't take care of that?"
"They can be hard to get ahold of sometimes." Teru leaned back against his pillows. "You know I was kidding about the walls, right? That was the building manager's problem."
"I knew that," Shigeo lied. He didn't know much about rental laws, and for once, he was pretty sure that was normal.
"I've started putting aside some extra savings, just in case something like that happens again. That's why I haven't been able to replenish my wardrobe just yet. Don't worry, Kageyama-kun. I'll be back to my fashionable self in no time."
Shigeo hesitated a moment, but only to make sure he got the words right. "If something like that happens again, you should come stay with me."
Teru flushed suddenly, and Shigeo started to worry about his fevers. He knew Teru had a hard time accepting help, but surely that wasn't enough to make him sick.
"Accepting help isn't a failure," he reminded Teru, just in case.
"Oh! Of course, but um… Are you sure your parents wouldn't mind?"
That was an easy one. "Of course not. They love you. You're the first friend I've brought home that isn't a thirty-year old man."
Teru laughed again, and it was the kind with the snort. "Thank you, Kageyama-kun. I'll keep that in mind."
He lay back down next to Shigeo, and when they returned to their comics, the silence was definitely comfortable.

I need (a human’s touch)
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.
SUMMARY:
Set during the last episode of Mob Pyscho 100, in which Shigeo has taken over Mob completely.
But Teru is desperate. He hasn’t given up yet.
And he can only think of one thing that might shock Mob enough to break him out of… whatever this was.
TAGS:
terumob, angst and fluff, love confessions, 1.8k
He was hot.
Dangerously hot.
And well, Teru was always dangerously hot of course, but this was actually a huge problem. Teru was sweaty, all over, and could feel his breath coming faster and faster.
The searing pain of several stitches echoed from his core, cuts and bruises were littered all over his skin, his limbs were so tired he could fall asleep right then and there…
Teru hadn’t felt this degree of exhaustion since the last time Mob had lost control, when he had blown his school to bits.
But this degree of destruction triumphed over that event, easily.
Teru gritted his teeth, staring hard at his friend.
Piercing white eyes stared right through him, unblinking, unflinching, in the worst way.
Usually, those eyes could appear as apathetic to someone who didn’t know Mob well, his expression seeming perpetually bored and aloof.
But after knowing Mob for so long, Teru could always spot a slight gentle tinge to his gaze, a small crinkle of humour to the side of his lips, a shine in coal-black eyes. Just because Mob wasn’t very skilled at expressing emotion didn’t mean there was nothing there.
But this… this was different.
These eyes were nothing. Empty. Single-minded destruction.
It was jarring. Teru wasn’t sure he could even call the entity “Mob” anymore. Even so, he had to keep trying.
“MOB, COME ON!” He yelled hoarsely, breath coming hard and fast as he darted out of the way of another attack. Teru desperately tried to force his voice through the psychic energy swirling all around them. “YOU NEED TO WAKE UP! LOOK AROUND YOU!”
He grimaced, as deep down, he knew there was no point to it. These words hadn’t worked before, in the forest, when he’d tried to gently de-escalate the situation. He doubted they’d work now.
Teru’s brow furrowed. Nothing he was doing was even getting through to Mob. And his psychic barrier was chipped and full of cracks – he didn’t know how much longer he would last.
He had to do something. Now. Before it was too late.
And even whilst his mind was racing, trying to come up with sort of half-baked strategy, rattling through letters of the alphabet to devise a plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D, he was having to dodge rubble, save civilians, save MOB.
And keep his hair this time, if he could. It had been a pain growing it back out last time.
Teru clenched his jaw and fists, feeling his energy slowly come back to him. He had to do this. He owed it to Mob, for getting him out of that toxic mindset that had carried him through the first fourteen years of his life.
He owed so much to him.
Maybe… maybe what Mob needed was a huge shock. That was what Teru had needed back then, something BIG that had turned his world upside down – and at the time, Mob had certainly delivered.
(floating naked and bald in mid-air whilst sapped of all power did that to a guy. Yeesh.)
Could something like that bring Mob back? He’d been fighting against whatever had been consuming him, clearly he was still in there… somewhere… right??
Maybe…
Teru shook the idea off immediately. That would be- be awful of him, it’d be taking advantage, it’d practically be assault and wrong in so many books of moral code. There had to be another way.
That idea probably just came to mind because of Teru’s own biases, there was no way it would ever… It would ever…
Despite himself, Teru paused for a brief moment, feeling his cheeks warm. He… could he really-
A searing pain on his arm brought him back to his senses. He let out a yelp, darting away and instantly regretting getting distracted as he glanced down to see a fresh cut on his arm.
It went deeper than the others.
Teru paled, looking up. “Mob” had become distracted too, seeing as Teru hadn’t been directly attacking him for a while, and had just been frantically thinking up a plan (which he still didn’t have!!) but it seemed the entity had its head back in the game.
This was bad.
Teru had already been tired before, but he was feeling more and more sluggish with every minute that passed. He needed to nip this in the bud.
And as Teru watched the dark, swirling mass that was Mob slowly move forward, sending huge cracks skittering through the ground wherever he stepped…
It was still Mob, at the end of the day. Right?
Steeling himself, and wishing that his heart would slow down, Teru hoped in vain that his best friend wouldn’t hate him too much for this.
(He also wished retroactively that he’d remembered to put on chapstick this morning because his lips were very dry, and that didn’t tend to be the vibe when it came to finally kissing the guy you’ve had a crush on for a frankly humiliating amount of time.)
Teru walked forward, his expression soft. Mob’s eyes (?) narrowed, and honestly at this point, Teru hoped he’d be able to get within a metre of him without being blasted away.
His walk slowly became a jog. Then a run. Then a flat-out sprint, as a he used the last dregs of his energy to dodge and zip through all the attacks being sent his way, breath rattling through his lungs.
Within a blink of an eye, Teru was in front of him.
And he knew he had to make this quick.
Teru’s eyebrows furrowed in determination, pulse pounding in his ears and bruised ribs screaming in protest.
“Mob, I like you.” Teru’s voice cracked, and he hated himself. He continued, eyes shining. “I really, really like you, and I hope you’ll forgive me for this.”
And without further delay, he leaned in and pressed his lips to Mob’s, as hard as he could and with all the feelings brimming in his chest.
Teru had never actually kissed anyone, despite the amount of girls he’d gone out with. The most he’d done was a hold a few hands, and posture and flirt a bit. A dazzling smile was enough to make most of them fall to their knees, anyway.
He hoped, hopelessly, that blind devotion would make up for lack of skill.
(Deep inside swirling black, Mob was absolutely losing it.
“Let me out!! Please!! you have to- Teru just KISSED me!!” He exclaimed, hand on his chest, red as a tomato.
Shigeo Kageyama looked at him with disdain. “We literally are on our way to confess to Tsubomi right now.”
Mob narrowed his eyes, fists clenched. “No, YOU are. We just had that discussion. I want you to let me out so we can stop destroying everything and I can tell Teru I like him too.”
Shigeo’s voice was even flatter now. “Since when do you like Teru. That has never been a thing.”
Mob somehow, impossibly, grew redder. “I… I don’t think I really realized until now.” He shook himself, determination now defined. “You need to let me out. Y… You can still confess to Tsubomi, but I need to see Teru, right now.”
“Please.” Mob’s voice is resolute. It’s not a question, and Shigeo lets out a sigh, glancing outside to where Teru’s mouth was pressed against his.
“You’re serious? After all of this? And his lips are chapped, you know.”
“Wh- why would I care about that?! Ours are as well!” Mob gave him a look of despair, trying to claw his way out of the space. “Let me out, right now! Before he pulls away before you kill him!”
It wasn’t like Mob hadn’t been trying before, too, but his desperation was renewed now. He had been lulled into a sense of defeat, watching himself tear everything he loved apart, but now he knew.
“I’ll hold you to it.”
Shigeo’s voice is quiet. Decided.
“Hold you to what?!” Mob exclaims with furrowed brows, completely and utterly frustrated.
“You’ll still confess to Tsubomi. You have to.” Shigeo’s eyes are deadly serious. “You will. Or else.”
“I… okay. I’ll do it, but only if you let me out right n-”)
With a jolt, Mob realized he was in the middle of his first kiss.
His eyes flew wide open, darting all around, but just as he tried to commit everything to memory, Teru’s lips left his.
Teru was looking at him, eyes equally wide. Teru was there, golden hair matted with sweat and covered in blood and bruises.
Teru was alive.
With tears prickling in his eyes, and with equal ineptitude both in kissing and in words, Mob went for the next best option.
Within a blink of an eye, his arms were wrapped around Teru’s torso, tight and snug, head tucked into the other’s neck as he blindly hoped that this would make up for all the thoughts he didn’t know how to convey.
There was a beat of silence. Mob tensed up, ready to immediately draw back the second he sensed he’d made Teru uncomfortable.
And then, he felt the other melt into the embrace, arms winding around him and pulling him closer. A shaky hand cradled Mob’s inky-black head, stroking his hair and trembling like a leaf, as if still in disbelief that it was there.
Then, came Teru’s frantic words.
“I’m- I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” He drew further away, hands on his shoulders and Mob instantly wanted to tug him back, to where he had been stroking his hair. “I hope- I hope it was okay, I just wanted to shock you enough to break you out of- whatever that was- I just-”
As Mob watched the stammering, insecure words fight their way out of Teru’s mouth, it felt… wrong. Those words didn’t belong there. That shaky, unsure expression didn’t belong on Teru’s face.
And before even Mob had figured out what he was doing, he was pulling at Teru’s shirt, tugging him closer and shutting him up with another kiss.
It was… really nice. Especially since he got to experience all of it this time. Teru’s lips weren’t very dry at all, they were soft, and Mob liked how the other relaxed into him.
Teru’s hands came forward, cupping his face, and Mob liked that too.
After another moment of savouring the feeling, he slowly pulled back. Teru was looking at him like he’d hung the stars in the sky, cradling his face, his mouth positively agape. “You… you actually…”
Just as Mob was wondering if he needed to kiss him again, to really prove his point (and it’s not like he would mind) Teru smiled, a genuinely happy smile, soaking it in.
Because this was it. This was requited.
“I’m here. I’m sorry I wasn’t before.” Mob said, as he took both Teru’s hands in his. He bit his lip, not knowing where to start. “I… I have a lot to explain.”
Teru gave his hands a reassuring squeeze, sending him  the softest smile he’d ever seen.
“We’ve got nothing but time.”

I WANNA BE WITH YOU - serirei quick write
The office had been quiet for a bit, only the sounds of deep breathing, shuffling papers, and the click of a keyboard could be heard. Reigen sat in his office chair, his back folded like a shrimp as he tirelessly searched for new job openings. Meanwhile, Serizawa had been sitting at his little desk, looking over the assignments he had to do before his next exam came up. They were both bored out of their minds, to say the least.
Desperate for anything besides silence, Reigen tries to spark up a conversation with his coworker, “So…wanna do something, Katsuya?”
Serizawa's dark eyes peered over the papers and nervously responded, “I mean…sure. What do you have in mind, boss?”
“I told you that you don't have to call me that. Just call me Reigen. And- I was considering playing Truth or Dare with you. We barely get to talk outside of the office, so it might be nice to get to know each other a bit more.” Reigen's hands were flailing around as he spoke and Serizawa watched them, mesmerized.
“Don't you think we know a lot about each other already?” Serizawa let out a polite chuckle. “But, I wouldn't mind playing.”
“Great! Then let's get started. I'll go first.” Reigen displayed a cheeky grin as his swivel chair rolled across the floor to the front of Serizawa's desk. Serizawa returned the gesture with a friendly grin.
Reigen set his hands on the desk, folding them together as he began, “Truth or dare?”
Serizawa sat in deep thought before answering, “Truth.”
Of course, Reigen could be nice and ask questions about his past life as a student in high school. Perhaps talk about his ambitions in elementary school, or ask about his favorite food. But, he wanted to see a different kind of reaction from him. Flustered. It made Reigen's heart race, and he would give anything just to see him in a puddle of embarrassment.
“Have you ever had a girlfriend?” The question slipped through Reigen's lips and Serizawa noticed an obvious aura change. The once laid-back boss turned into…a desperate flirtatious man. But, Serizawa couldn't exactly pick up on the second part.
His face was flushed a crimson red as he mumbled, “No…that's an embarrassing question Reigen.”
“I don't believe so,” Reigen shrugged in response, “I want to get to know you as much as possible. It will improve our work relationship,  I promise.”
“If you say so…I believe it's my turn to ask. Truth or dare, Reigen?” Serizawa had been affected by such a personal question, and he began to fiddle his fingers in his lap. He could feel his face getting hot like a wildfire.
Reigen chuckled and kicked his feet onto the desk, “Truth. Hit me with anything.”
The position made Serizawa's heart skip a beat. His legs were tight in his ashy grey suit, and his jawline was defined as he leaned his head back. The pace of Serizawa's heart continued to get faster as he bit his lip, trying to bring himself back into reality.
“Have…have you had a girlfriend?” Serizawa mumbled nervously.
“What do you think?” Reigen proceeded to slip his jacket off his shoulders, and let it drag to the floor. “Sorry, I am getting a bit hot.”
Reigen was aware of Serizawa's embarrassment and only wanted to feed into it more. Even the slight movements of Reigen could melt Serizawa into a pool. So, Reigen began to undo his tie a bit, letting his bare neck be exposed to his coworker.
Serizawa had begun to form sweat on his forehead, the mix of summer warmth seeping into the office and tension starting to make him hot under his clothes.
“I think so…you're a very charming man Reigen. Any woman would want you.” Serizawa attempted to look away from Reigen, but Reigen tapped his heel on the desk, indicating for Serizawa to look back.
“Would you be surprised if I said that I haven't?” Reigen's grin spoke words as he stared into Serizawa's raven eyes. He looked like he was going to eat him alive. Serizawa nodded in response, his eyebrows curled with an expression of worry on his face. What was Reigen doing to him? This wasn't a normal thing to feel towards his boss.
Reigen took his feet off the desk and scooted his chair closer to the desk, leaning himself forward which made Serizawa squirm in his seat.
“My turn. Truth or dare?” Reigen rested his head onto his palms, continuing to stare into Serizawa's eyes. Serizawa didn't want another embarrassing question. So, he responded with a dare.
Reigen sat in thought for a moment, trying to brew up the perfect dare to embarrass Serizawa before he responded, “I dare you to tell me how you truly feel about me.”
Serizawa's eyebrows raised in confusion before he started to think. His mind became a deep sea, the moments of him and his boss crashing like waves against the sandy shores of his heart. The soft palms of Reigen ran along his neck while he was giving him his haircut, making the hairs on his arms stick up like thorns. Their fingers accidentally touch when walking on the street together, then arriving at the bar where Reigen would tease him mercilessly while he was tipsy. Serizawa would have to end up carrying him home, and he could feel the heavy breaths of his boss slip into his ear and it made him feel something he had never felt before. Reigen’s chest pressed up against Serizawa’s back awoken a fire that had kept growing larger since the first time that he saw Reigen. That fire was admiration for his boss. It would set his whole body ablaze and make his cheeks warm to the touch. At times Reigen thought he was having a fever, and would set the back of his hand onto Serizawa’s head, and then glide it down like ice to his cheeks, and hold it gently.  He couldn’t deny it any longer. This feeling he had been feeling this whole time was…love.
“Serizawa?” Reigen snapped Serizawa back into reality, and as he looked into his boss's eye, he wanted to pull him closer. He wanted to shut him up with his lips- what embarrassing thoughts.
“I see you as…” Serizawa bolted his eyes around the room, panic beginning to rush over him. He didn’t want to lie to Reigen, as he was his boss and he looked up to him a lot. But, if Reigen doesn’t feel the same and he told him… he doesn’t want to know what would happen next.
Serizawa looked at Reigen’s desk and saw the mug that said, “#1 Boss” as he muttered, “A great boss.”
Reigen rolled his eyes and let out a heavy sigh, slamming his head into his palm. Although it may have just seemed like he got friend-zoned, Reigen knew that he was lying to his face. If he just saw him as “a great boss” then he wouldn’t struggle so much to find the words. He wouldn’t have been acting like a fool every time he saw him. The list could go on forever.
“Whatever,” he playfully scoffed, “it’s your turn.”
Serizawa let out a sigh of relief as he asked Reigen, and to Serizawa’s surprise, he replied dare. Shoot- Serizawa didn’t have anything planned for this. He was going to ask Reigen how he felt about him- and now his plan was ruined. So he sat in thought for a few minutes before Reigen chimed in.
“Come on! There has to be something that you want me to do. Anything.”
Serizawa gulped and muttered without thinking, “I dare you to kiss me.”
Reigen couldn’t stop his jaw from dropping and the pace of his heart spiked. He couldn’t believe he said it. And, now that he had said it, he felt like he was melting away like lava below. He was so used to being the more “dominant” one that when Serizawa does it- he doesn’t know what to do.
“Serizawa, that’s very blunt. But, I wouldn’t mind it.” Reigen’s face had become the same shade as a tomato while his palms became sticky. His mind was filled with thoughts he couldn’t even comprehend right now.
Serizawa noticed the change in aura within Reigen and something inside of him snapped. Serizawa finally had the upper hand, and he wanted more of it. He wanted to see Reigen lose his cool over him. He wanted to see the frenzied look on his face once more.
Serizawa rose from his chair and Reigen’s eyes followed him. Reigen had suddenly felt so small compared to the beast upon him. Serizawa’s fingers ran along the desk before they pointed at Reigen. His fingertips seemed to glow violet as Reigen felt a sudden force come upon him. The blond rose from his chair and he almost landed face-first on the desk before his hands caught him. Serizawa’s grin sent chills down Reigen’s spine like a frosty, winter night. The now confident coworker let his hand wrap around Reigen’s tie like vines and he tugged gently on it, bringing the two closer together than ever before.
Their faces were inches apart, and Reigen could feel Serizawa’s hot breath run down his neck like vapor, which continued to make his face even hotter. Serizawa decided to let his hands slide up from the desk to Reigen’s chest and neck, and then finally his cheek. Reigen’s brain still couldn’t even process what was happening, but lord knows he has wanted this for so long. Too bad he couldn’t say it out loud.
“Do you want this?” Serizawa’s tone was now compassionate, which set Reigen at ease. Reigen nodded before verbally consenting. Serizawa leaned in, and their lips finally parted into a kiss. The world seemed to stop for a minute, as the two sat there. All care they could have had about their job, their past, or their future slipped away into the abyss as the two finally became one.
But then- the door hinges whined from a distance, which sent a wave of panic through both of them. WHAT WAS THAT!?
Reigen fell into his chair below him, his face still red as could be, and in a daze, as he saw a familiar face pop through the door. Mob.
“Hello master- uhm…” Mob surveyed his surroundings as he began to talk. Serizawa was…smiling? And Reigen looked helpless in his chair. Perhaps Reigen had gotten sick while he was away? Allergies were spreading around because of the changes in seasons.
“Hello Mob, Reigen was catching a fever due to the allergies, and I thought I would try and help him. You know how he is…” Serizawa quickly made an excuse, a cheeky grin on his face.
Mob nodded, totally oblivious to the situation, “Oh, alright. I was just popping in because I left my  jacket here yesterday. Sorry to bother you.”
“No worries. You’re hanging out with Hanazawa today, correct?” Serizawa attempted small talk while Reigen still had his jaw dropped, his eyes darting back and forth between Serizawa and Mob. What was going on? Could Mob really not notice anything?
Mob nodded and grabbed the jacket before putting it on. He waved goodbye, and the two noticed something before he closed the door. The jacket had an embroidered T on the back of it. They both looked at each other in confusion, before shrugging it off. Then, Serizawa looked at Reigen, his eyes filled with passion and love.
“So, would you like to continue, boss?”  ---END---
