Book Review: Praying for Girls by Teri Lynne Underwood

Teri Lynne Underwood comes out with this Scripturally and gospel focused book on prayer. As the leader of Prayer for Girls, an online community for prayer for girls, she comes with a lot of passion for this particular topic. Her passion and focus on scripture make this book inspiring, refreshing and exciting to use. She makes use of 200 Scripture based prayers that can address an aspect of every girl’s life, and that hits the mark for me. As a sunday school teacher, former classroom teacher and discipler, I definitely am very encouraged to use the prayers in the book in relationships I have with young children. 

Teri writes using a viewpoint of a mother, and I also think that adds an extra special element to her book. This is manifested in the extra thought and suggestions she has in every chapter, of different ways to elaborate and have deeper conversations with your girls. That is one of my many favorites in the book - the way the author divides different suggestions of conversation starters or activities with the different age groups a mom or teacher may with their little gals from toddler-hood to the teen years.

Thank you Teri, this book is an absolute must-have for your bookshelf. In addition to great wisdom on how to continue on developing a growing relationship with your girls, you have encouraged so much more using scripture and God’s promises, which is the focus we all want to have as women.
