Why Tennis Court Cleaning in Melbourne is Essential for Optimal Performance?
Tennis court cleaning in Melbourne is critical for maintaining optimal efficiency and extending the life of the floor surface. Tennis, squash, badminton, basketball, and other indoor games require cleaning and maintenance at regular intervals to keep the floor functioning and provide the greatest performance.
Tennis court cleaning services in Melbourne use innovative cleaning procedures to keep the floor surface clean, and free of filth and mould, while also maintaining its UV resistance and hygiene.
A clean tennis court allows players to move cockily which improves grip, speed, and overall performance. Regular cleaning minimises the collection of material that can disturb ball bounce and slow down the game tempo, gives a professional appearance, improves performance, and satisfies players, allowing them to play smoother and more pleasurable games.
Why Should Court Owners Hire Professional Cleaning Services?
Hiring professional tennis and other indoor game court cleaning services is critical for maintaining long-lasting, high-performance facilities. Professional cleaners have access to specialised equipment, high and low-pressure treatment, and eco-friendly cleaning solutions tailored to different types of court surfaces.
They can effectively remove grime, moss, mould, and other substances by using an especially crafted tennis court scrubber and eco-friendly treatment with a low-pressure Xjet Nozzle sprayer to evenly cover the entire space that DIY cleaning methods fail to address.
Moreover, experienced cleaners are skilled in preserving the integrity of the court’s surface while ensuring thorough cleaning without causing damage.
Meanwhile, court owners should hire a professional cleaning service provider to save time and effort and get a satisfactory result.
Regular cleaning by professionals also minimizes the need for costly repairs or resurfacing and prolongs the lifespan of the court floor surface. In addition, these experts can offer tailored maintenance schedules, to deliver their expertise without disturbing any game or match schedule, and ensure that the court remains in peak condition year-round. Therefore, contact a renowned tennis court cleaning service provider for an enhanced playing experience for players.

How Much Does Roof Cleaning Cost?
The average roof cleaning costs $433 but that price can vary depending on the type of cleaning and the roofing material. For example, stains on asphalt shingles are less costly to clean than those on clay tiles or wood shakes. Similarly, simple dirt and debris are less costly than mold, moss, or algae growth. The size and shape of the roof also affects cleaning cost, with a larger surface area requiring more materials and time to clean. A multi-story house will also add to the cost because cleaners need to work at a higher elevation, adding risk and time to the job.
The type of cleaning method used also impacts the final roof cleaning cost. For instance, a roof that needs to be cleaned of stubborn stains may require a chemical wash or low-pressure washing. These methods are more expensive than a basic power wash because they use a detergent or other cleaning solution to target stains. In addition, they are safer for your shingles than high-pressure water and can be used on most roofing materials.
If your roof has a lot of moss or other living growth, the cleaner will need to spray it with a fungicide or other product to kill these organisms. This can add another $30 to $100 to the overall roof cleaning cost, and can be included in a soft washing or a chemical wash. In addition, the cleaner may need to apply zinc strips that interact with rainwater and release zinc carbonate that prevents moss from growing on the roof.
Gutter cleaning can also add to the overall cost of roof cleaning, as cleaners need to move debris from the gutters before applying a cleaning solution or rinsing the roof. In some cases, this can cost an additional $0.70 to $1.30 per square foot.
Roof cleaning prices are often based on the square footage of the roof, and can vary from contractor to contractor. A general rule of thumb is that a one-story home will cost about the same to clean as a two- or three-story home. This is because the additional stories require cleaners to work at a higher elevation, which adds time and safety risks to the job.
If your house has solar panels, you will need to pay extra to have these cleaned in addition to the roof. Solar panels are more complicated to clean than a traditional roof and typically require a special cleaning solution, which can increase the total cost of the job by $200 to $400.
The color of your roof can also influence the cost of a cleaning, as some stains are harder to remove than others. Dark stains can absorb more sunlight, which can cause your energy bills to go up, so removing these stains can help lower your energy costs. In addition, a professional cleaner can provide a stain-blocking treatment after the cleaning to help prevent future stains from occurring. This usually costs an additional $50 to $100.

How to Wash Sidings
Climb the ladder and survey your roof, then inform us of your findings. Isn't it mould and mildew? Climb back down and take a walk around your house, telling us if you believe it's time for a fresh coat of paint; what about all the grime that has accumulated on the current paint?
In both cases, high-pressure concrete cleaning is the most effective way to remove dirt, debris, mould, and mildew.
When it comes to siding items such as brick, metal, vinyl, and a sturdy board, we can promise you that pressure washing is the most excellent solution if done correctly.
You can still harm your siding if you make a mistake. We'll go over why it's best to hire a professional high-pressure cleaning business once more. When it comes to cleaning, professionals know when to employ low-pressure and high-pressure methods.
Nonetheless, knowing a few principles concerning pressure washing is a good idea, and we've listed a few below!
Safeguard All Plans and Any Delicates
Use drop cloths or plastic bags to protect your plants, as well as your light fixtures and other sensitive items. If there are yard items or furniture near the work area, they must be moved. Also, if there are any pets lingering, get them to safety.
Never Forget to Inspect
Make sure you've gone over every inch of your home's siding to see if there are any faults. It's natural for specific areas to receive more sunlight than others and remain damp for extended periods. Also, examine the doors and windows to ensure that all seals are in good working order.
You will be required Expert hands!
Keep in mind that cleaning siding requires a combination of water and cleaning solutions. This is what is sprayed onto the siding, which is why we advise you to hire specialists to complete the job. You contact a specialist like High-Pressure Cleaning expert Pressure Kleen, a premier high-pressure cleaning company in Melbourne!
No place is too far for our pressure cleaning pavers, from the inner city suburbs to the northern, eastern, south-eastern, and western suburbs!
We provide unrivalled high-pressure paint removal cleaning services, such as driveway and sealing; we also clean retail malls, schools, and other structures, and if you have a pool, a tennis court, or a driveway that needs to be cleaned, the High Pressure Cleaning Specialist is here to help!

Residents Complain of ‘Cracking’ in Melbourne’s Tallest Tower
Residents of Melbourne's partially completed super-skyscraper Australia 108 have expressed concerns over the structural integrity of the building, claiming to have experienced loud cracking sounds among a number of other defects. Read more here.
While the World Class Global claims that Australia 108 maintains a good and solid structural integrity, residents are still worrying about the visible cracks and loud cracking sounds during high wind. The feelings of occupants are understandable considering that once completed, the building is a skyscraper to be the tallest residential building in Melbourne. After all, who would want to be included in a collapsing tallest building? The weaker sales in the past week is an indication that buyers are getting more hesitant to invest with Australia 108. It may take a very strong professional opinion for the company to regain the trust of people and get back the steady market that they once had.

Australian Open 2021 - Day 10
Pretty hot, in the 80s. No Wind
Keys and Anisimova didn’t come because they had Covid.
Kenin underwent emergency appendectomy surgery in Melbourne
Zverev and Djokovic both talked in their press conferences about how tennis can’t have a traveling circuit right now and they ought to localize the tour in a single site.
Barty vs Muchova Muchova likes to shorten points, while Barty likes to lengthen them. Muchova and Barty have similar games; Pliskova compared them. Muchova wants to attack short ball and come in. Barty attacking with the forehand; up an early break at 2-0. Muchova wants to approach to the Barty backhand; Ash struggles to pass on that wing. Commentator thinks Muchova struggles with the high forehand. 3 forehand errors and a double fault give Bart a 2 break lead at 4-0. Barty with the first set in 24 minutes; Muchova not settled. More errors give Barty the early break in set 2. Muchova seems to have called for the trainer. Going off court for treatment. Barty’s momentum is affected by the timeout; a few errors lead to a break back. Muchova having more success at net. Long service game; Muchova gets the break. Muchova breaks to start the 3rd, and then holds on to a long service game. Barty just making too many errors down the stretch. Muchova moving well and being consistent enough. Get the 2nd break to go up 5-2. Muchova outlasts Barty in a long game. (This is Muchova’s first major semi) (Muchova’s injury seems to have just been heat related, head spinning).
Brady vs Pegula Brady credits some of her success to playing World Team Tennis. Brady’s kick serve is a weapon. Pegula taking it early effectively. Brady still adjusting to the weight of the Pegula shot. A lot of errors from Brady gives Pegula a break. Brady is serving a low percentage and making a lot of errors, maybe she’s turning it around; holds to make it 2-3. Pegula’s dad own the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Pegula is very consistent off the baseline. Wow, Brady has a bunch of huge aces, 3-4. Pegula feels pressure, break back, 4-4. (Apparently the cheering is automated, no one is pushing any buttons). Still not serving well enough; Brady double faults away a break. Pegula’s movement and defense is impressive. She stays low and moves very smoothly. Pegula gets the 1st, 6-4. Pegula is attacking the kick 2nd serve and coming to net. Brady starting to hit the kick serve as a first serve the way Renee wants; got out of a 15-40 hole and held serve to start the 2nd. Pegula starting to crack on a few rallies, Brady up a break at 2-0. Pegula takes advantage of a bad error at net by Brady and then dictates on a couple rallies to get the break back. Pegula attacking the Brady backhand, winning the long rallies. Brady mixes in some slice to set up some angles. Gets the break in a long game, 4-2. Pegula coming undone a little, Renee sees some tired legs. Brady breaks to win the set 6-2. She’ll serve 1st in the 3rd. Brady dug out of 0-40, winning some long rallies, but not getting enough first serves and really getting hurt on the 2nd. Brady saves 4, but Pegula breaks her on the 5th to start the 3rd set. Costly errors from Pegula, Brady breaks back. Pegula’s forehand is breaking down; not accelerating on it, elbow coming up. Renee thinks its the fitness, she’s a step slow. (Chrissy is stressing Pegula’s tough draw: Azarenka, Stosur, Mladenovic, Svitolina) Brady just looked really fit down the stretch, played really great defense, as well as good offense. 4-6 6-2 6-1
Rublev vs Medvedev Medvedev has never lost to Rublev. Rublev likes to get up on the baseline, but his defense can be lacking. Rublev’s bigger first serve is a talking point. Medvedev keeping it to the backhand. Rublev saves a break point, 2-2. Big first serves from Med, easy holds. (Rublev has no racket contract). Medvedev gets the break behind some aggressive angles. Med double faults to give the break back. Few too many errors from Medvedev trying to be aggressive. Medvedev really upped his level at 5-5, cut out the errors and won some awesome rallies. Med takes the 1st. McEnroe’s want Rublev to bring Medvedev forward, use some droppers, but he doesn’t really have that in his game. 43 shot rally on Rublev’s serve. Rublev is sitting down; the umpire is giving a little leniency. (2-3 in the 2nd is when this is happening) Rublev hangs on to his serve. Medvedev gets out of an insane game on his serve, finally they get to go to the chair. Medvedev’s defense is just astonishing. 4 forehand errors get Medvedev the break (broken string on break point). Rublev looks like he’s exhausted. Med serves it out at love. Rublev looks like he showered in the set break. Rublev isn’t defending as quickly and Medvedev gets the break to start the 3rd. Darren thinks Rublev needs to develop the game to come forward to shorten points against a guy like Medvedev. The heat and the physicality have become the story of the match. A beleaguered Rublev gives up the double break. 7-5 6-3 6-2 (Medvedev calling the trainer after the match; cramps)
Nadal vs Tsitsipas Nadal is going to try to attack the Tsitsipas backhand. Tends to be really big hitters who beat Nadal. Tsitsipas holding serve comfortably to start. If Nadal is going to back off on returns, Tsitsipas has to attack short returns. Tsitsipas’s movement looks good to start, nice defense. Brad and Patrick want Tsitsipas to be a little deeper on returns to avoid mishits. Tsitsipas always stands close on returns. Tsitsipas;s long backswings also a talking point, especially on the serve returns. Tsitsipas making Rafa work on his serves, but not breaking through. High bouncing Tsitsipas serve is giving Nadal some problems. Suddenly, costly forehand errors. Tsitsipas recovers from 15-30 to hold. This time Nadal gets out of 0-30 with a 25 shot rally at 30-30. Nadal gets the break on some really great returns, 5-3. Again, Tsitsipas had 15-30, but Rafa mixing up his serve too well, takes the first set. Hot and humid, both players sweating, Tsitsipas went for a full gear change. Rafa breaks to start set 2. Tsitsipas is playing well, but he’s not doing enough to make Rafa uncomfortable. Rafa is just outhitting him. Tsitsipas is playing more aggressive, trying to come in, just doesn’t seem like he’s really threatening Rafa. Tsitsipas is getting to 30 practically every service game but still no break points. Rafa just isn’t missing. Tsitsipas just not getting a lot of free points on their serve. Nadal breaks again, 4-1. Patrick and Brad think Tsitsipas’s ball toss fall too far left and he looses some forward momentum (needs to fix it, there’s a 4 foot spread across all his tosses). Nadal is just so good at redirecting Tsitsipas’s pace. Tsitsipas can’t touch Nadal’s serve at all right now. Tsitsipas has really cleaned up his game and simultaneously got more aggressive in the 3rd. Rafa barely able to touch his serve right now, but the opposite is also true. Massive serves and big shots from Tsitsipas to hold at 5-5. Rafa won 27 straight points on his serve, only lost one service point in set 3, ludicrous. 5 errors from Nadal in the tiebreak. Tsitsipas wins the tiebreak and breaks Nadal's streak of consecutive sets won in majors. Nadal ends at 35 sets, tied with McEnroe for 2nd, 1 set behind Federer’s 36. Deuce game on Nadal’s serve to start the set, Tsitsipas’s first break point. Tsitsipas coming in more, both inside the baseline and to net, to great effect. Commentators speculate that due to temperature, perhaps, Rafa’s shots have a little less oomph, not pushing Tsitsipas around. Tsitsipas got 2 break points on some beautiful rallies, Rafa preceded to come up with ridiculous serves to get out of it. Tsitsipas’s ball is a lot heavier and Rafa is on the back foot. The backhand has become a weapon for Tsitsipas. Nadal comes up with big serves to get out of trouble in a 2-deuce game at 3-3 in the 4th. Tsitsipas is winning 70% of long rallies (over 9 shots) in the 4th set. Rafa is letting some balls go, he looks fatigued. Patrick’s talking about how Nadal didn’t practice or play as much as he would have because of his back. And now it feels like Tsitsipas can’t miss. Tsitsipas is dancing in his return position. Nadal is pressing, going for too much too soon, making errors. Breaks Nadal at 4-4, serving for the set. Tsitsipas wins the 4th convincingly, Nadal is on the ropes. Rafa has lost twice in his career up 2-0, once to Fognini at the US Open, once to Federer at Miami. Nadal’s brought out a serve and volley. Nadal’s footwork is suffering; he’s reaching. Tsitsipas is really targeting the Nadal backhand with his forehand. A few more errors creeping in for Tsitsipas, giving up some 0-15 starts on his service games. (Tsitsipas’s match against Kokkinakis was the longest of the tournament) Nadal’s serve bails him out of a tight game at 2-2. Monster service game for Tsitsipas at 2-3 (0:54 seconds). Same situation, huge serve extricates Nadal from a service game at 40-30. Another quick hold for Tsitsipas at 3-4. Rafa gets a love hold a 4-4. He’s been managing himself, Now Tsitsipas’s back is against the wall, does Rafa have a card to play? Stefanos gets out of a 40-30 game at 4-5 with awesome forehands to the Nadal backhand. Nadal, making errors, broken at love! What a final game. Tsitsipas got tight, made some errors, had 2 match points, couldn’t convert, Nadal had a break point, Tsitsipas saved it, Nadal made an error on a great defensive point from Tsitsipas, and then he put it away with a winner. 3-6 2-6 7-6 6-4 7-5 in 4 hours and 5 minutes. (Talked about working to control his emotions in the match)

Factors That Affect Your Roof Cleaning Cost
A dirty roof can lower the value of your home and make it harder to sell. Black streaks, moss, and mold growth can also lead to costly leaks and other roofing issues. Regular roof cleaning can keep these issues from developing and save you money on maintenance. The average cost for cleaning a 1,500-square-foot roof ranges from $0.20 to $0.75 per square foot, but there are many factors that can affect the price.
The size of your roof is a major factor in roof cleaning costs. Larger roofs take longer to clean and require more labor, which drives up the overall cost. The roof type and design is another factor. Roofs made from metal, rubber, and shingles are different and have their own unique service requirements that impact the overall cost. A roof with gables or a steep slope will also increase prices because they are more difficult to access and work on.
How often you need to have your roof cleaned and the type of services you choose will impact the total cost. Most roof cleaners offer preventative treatments that can help you avoid future build-up and protect your investment. Some of these options include zinc strips, which are used to prevent moss and algae growth, and roof coatings that can reflect sunlight in sun-exposed homes or repel water in rainy areas. These options can add up to $150 or more to the overall roof cleaning costs.
Most professionals charge by the square foot for roof cleaning services. This means that a standard residential roof will cost between $300 and $1,050 to clean. A professional roofer will typically use a pressure washer to remove dirt, grime, and other debris from the surface of your home's roof. In some cases, they may use a chemical cleaner to target specific stains and discoloration. The type of chemicals they use will vary, depending on the type of roof and the materials it is made from.
If your roof has solar panels, this can complicate the cleaning process and add to the overall cost. This is because solar panels need a special treatment to ensure they are not damaged by the cleaning chemicals. A roof with solar panels can also be more difficult to reach, which increases labor costs and might even require the use of additional safety equipment.
The number of stories your home has will also influence the roof cleaning cost. It is more expensive to wash a roof on a two-story home than on a single-story home because it takes longer for the crew to safely access and clean the entire surface.
The final factor that can impact the overall cost of your roof cleaning is the addition of extra services. For example, some cleaning companies offer moss removal services that can be added to your basic cleaning for an extra $150 to $250. In addition, you can pay to have your gutters rinsed after the cleaning is done to prevent algae and dirt from washing into plants below the roof.

This old Tune hotel is being kept in good condition. Very clean and very comfortable bed. The ac is quiet and efficient. I think the management is aware of the problem so I hope the improvement is close.
2. Mercure Welcome Melbourne
We stay here all the time coming to Melbourne every couple of weeks. Easy to drive to or to get public transport. Great location right next to Bourke St Shopping Center, Melbourne Central Shopping Mall, and China Town.
Beautiful room. Not super flash but clean tidy, comfortable and super affordable. The breakfast buffet is very good. The staff is super helpful and friendly.
3. ibis Melbourne Hotel and Apartments
We booked five nights for a short stay in Melbourne. We chose to pay an extra to get a higher floor but were disappointed because the view outside the window was about 15 meters to another building.
The room is very comfortable, quiet and spacious. The downstairs restaurant is great for a casual meal the first night we arrive and have breakfast another morning. The staff was very friendly but unable to assist with a better room with a view.
4. Ibis Melbourne Little Bourke Street
Our room was small but adequate and had everything that was required. The hotel was in a good position when we went to play tennis and 20/20 of cricket during our time in Melbourne.
Also close to the sky bus and near the South Cross railway station. The reception staff was always friendly and efficient. We had breakfast included and this could be described as average == unfortunately except for mornings when there was tinned apricots fruit was never very ripe also coffee machine made very frothy coffee.
5. Ibis Budget Melbourne CBD
This is a budget hotel as the name suggests, so don't expect 5 stars. However a great bargain for the price you pay. It was lovely to find a very clean 'budget' hotel, great location and great staff!
I stayed in room 409 and my friend stayed in 410 - both rooms were quaint and after a period of an adjustment getting used to the curtained small shower area, we both loved our rooms.
There was a bit of noise from the other occupants of the corridor early in the morning, hearing a knock on the door, but it was not the hotel's fault because there were signs of respect and tranquility in the hallway.
Beautiful clean sheets and towels and the rooms are spotless and made up each day. Yes do bring your own hairdryer and shampoo which is fine, however, tea and coffee are provided.
I would suggest to the Hotel that perhaps a few hooks could be provided for space to hang towels etc and the draws need attention as difficult/unable to open. To find the Hotel on Elizabeth street lookout for the IBIS sign above a small doorway which will lead you along the hallway to the lifts to access first-floor reception.
The location is perfect with a short walk to Flinders St station and free trams, and other nearby trams and coffee lanes on Collins Street and shopping in Bourke St. All the staff we handle (reception and housekeeping) are awesome !!
They were at all times efficient, professional in a warm friendly and helpful manner. Congratulations Ibis!!! Thanks to all the staff for your hard work and smiles. Will stay again.
6. The Sebel Melbourne Docklands
A nice funky place to stay for the Australian Open, handy for the free tram. Nice pool and tennis court and good service - call me to verify when my brother-in-law needs access. I would definitely stay here again.
7. BreakFree on Collins Melbourne
We had 3 nights at Break free on Collins which is very central to the main attractions and shopping precincts. The staff was very friendly and efficient at check-in and out. Our apartment was very comfortable, clean and spacious.
8. Adina Apartment Hotel Melbourne
Pleasant staff, clean rooms, quality facilities that's what we wanted and that's what we received. Well done Adina on Queen. This is the most convenient place to stay in Melbourne, close to the city center, good transport options, and a safe locale.
9. Comfort Hotel East Melbourne
I won't forget this experience. I arrive on a humid day. As soon as I registered, I picked up the computer and it slipped from my hand (heavy metal pile) and landed on my feet. Oh! I turned around and the pain of Blood seeped onto the floor.
I screamed but the hotel Manager remained calm, honestly, she was great, she got straight to first AID and made a great tournament tying it up to stop the bleeding. In a few seconds, she called the ambulance to come but made me sit down.
I saw a lot of blood and mumbled, I'm sorry. However, she remained calm and called the janitor to clean. The husband came in and assisted too. Well with her quick fast first aid the bleeding had stopped within 10 mins.
I was taken to the hospital and discharged later that night. If it not had been for her quick fast action, I was close to a severed nerve. I arrived back late and Comfort, she had put the computer up in my room and other luggage, I will never forget the care and professional service of this comfort motel.
Beds were comfortable and spa baths were relaxing.
10. Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne
Stay at the Grand Chancellor when we are attending the Harry Potter play and it is near the theater. It is a great location and reasonably priced. We stayed in a refurbished room. The bathroom has certainly been updated but the rest of the room still looks tired.
The entrance and general appearance of the hotel just looks a bit dirty or 'very well-loved'. The staff was very friendly. We found in one of the booklets in the room a 'two for one' offer for breakfast.
However, this is never provided to us when we book. We were just told the price of breakfast per person. There was road construction happening outside our window so didn't need an alarm to wake us up!!

Three Americans killed when firefighting plane crashes in rural Australia
https://newsource-embed-prd.ns.cnn.com/videos/newsource-video-embed.js
Three American crew members have died in Australia after an air tanker crashed in the state of New South Wales, where fires continue to burn out of control.
The water-bombing tanker had been chartered by the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS), state Premier Gladys Berejiklian said in a news conference on Thursday. It was called in to fight a bushfire near the town of Cooma, in the state’s southeast.
The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council told CNN the casualties were American. The crew members belonged to Coulson Aviation, an aerial firefighting company that owned the aircraft contracted to the NSW RFS.
Coulson Aviation said in a statement that the crew had been on a firebombing mission when the accident occurred.
“Today is a stark and horrible reminder of the dangerous conditions that our volunteers, our emergency services personnel across the number of agencies take on a daily basis,” Berejiklian said. “It demonstrates the dangerous work currently being undertaken. It also demonstrates the conditions that our firefighters are working under.”
According to the NSW RFS commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons, contact was lost with the C-130 water-bombing plane shortly before 1:30 p.m. local time on Thursday.
“Tragically, there appears to be no survivors as a result of the crash down in the Snowy Monaro area,” Fitzsimmons said in the news conference. “It’s impacted heavily with the ground. And initial reports are there was a large fireball associated with the impact of the plane as it hit the ground.”
The cause of the crash is not yet clear.
Traci Weaver, a United States public information officer with firefighting teams on the ground, called the crash a “heartbreaking” incident.
“We’re just here taking care of our folks,” she told CNN. “And it hits close to home when it’s Americans too — as tight a family as we are in the firefighting community — it’s just hard.”
Fires have been burning in the state for months, and several countries have sent personnel and firefighting assistance, including the US and New Zealand.
The US announced Wednesday it was sending two more 20-person crews to Australia, only days after sending air support personnel and other emergency management teams. So far, the US has deployed more than 200 staff to Australia, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
Fires are still raging in several states, particularly in New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory, home to the national capital Canberra.
The Canberra airport closed on Thursday, with arrivals and departures grounded as bushfires burned nearby. One of the fires, only a few miles away, is “out of control” and has reached an emergency alert level, according to the territory’s emergency agency.
The airport has not been evacuated, but closed “due to aviation firefighting operations,” it said in a tweet. Photos from the airport show planes grounded on smoky runways, and the entire city shrouded in a thick, reddish haze.
Authorities have advised residents in the area to seek shelter, warning that roads are closed and that “it is too late to leave.”
“The fire may pose a threat to all lives directly in its path,” the ACT Emergency Services Agency said. “People in these suburbs are in danger and need to seek immediate shelter as the fire approaches.”
The emergency-level fire began on Wednesday, but worsened on Thursday due to strong winds and high temperatures, according to CNN affiliate Seven News.
It rained mud in Melbourne
Much of southeastern Australia — where Canberra is located — has been battered by severe weather for the past week. Canberra was hit by a hailstorm on Monday, with hailstones the size of golf balls shattering car windows and injuring scores of birds.
There have also been heavy winds all week — apart from exacerbating the persistent and widespread fires, the wind created apocalyptic scenes of massive dust storms engulfing towns last Sunday.
Australia has been gripped by a devastating drought since 2017 — which has not only destroyed livelihoods, but has left the land parched and dry, full of loose soil and dust that are easily whipped up into the air by wind.
In normal conditions, dust storms are not common occurrences. But because of the drought and wind, they are happening more and more frequently in Australia. The major city of Melbourne, south of Canberra in the state of Victoria, was hit with a dust storm on Wednesday night and then rain on Thursday, creating a whole new kind of weather disaster.
The dust had been spread in the air by the wind — so when the rain came, it combined into a rust-colored sludge of mud that coated the city. Photographs from Melbourne show the Yarra River turned completely brown with the dust-mud, and cars covered with dirt. People woke up to see their household pools and bird baths filled with brown dusty water.
The Australian Open, now in its fourth day, even had to delay matches for several hours because the outdoor courts were covered with mud. Staff at the tennis tournament rushed to clean the court with towels, hoses, and “high pressure cleaning,” finally opening it back up to matches in the late afternoon.
There are “damaging winds” across much of the state on Thursday, with the strongest wind gust reaching 85 miles per hour in a national park northeast of Melbourne, according to the Victoria Bureau of Meteorology. Milder winds are forecast for Friday and across the weekend.

Useful Tips for Safe Pressure Cleaning Melbourne
Pressure cleaning Melbourne is the best way to relieve hard surfaces of stubborn dirt and other impurities, and keep them clean. This heavy-duty method employs a pressure washer to eliminate offenders. Surfaces are rejuvenated by spraying them with solutions at high pressures from this apparatus. This method of washing is applicable for a wide variety of residential, industrial, and commercial purposes. Some examples include home washing, car cleaning, wood cleaning, gutter cleaning, cleaning parks, tennis courts and commercial attractions, and more.
High pressure cleaning is ideal for every purpose, from lighter domestic pressure washing to heavy industrial concrete cleaning. A major aspect to be considered while choosing a pressure washer is the capacity of pressure it can generate. This characteristic is determined by its PSI or Pounds per Square Inch value. For light cleaning tasks, PSI of up to 2,200 is sufficient. Hard cleaning requires 2, 200-3000 PSI. Heavy-duty industrial and commercial concrete cleaning demands PSI of up to 3500 or greater.
Safety of person and property is important while implementing high pressure cleaning. Here are a few tips to ensure safe high pressure cleaning in domestic or commercial environments. Employ pressure washers appropriate for the surface you are cleaning. Using washers when concrete cleaning with lower pressures does not clean the surface. On the other hand, more pressure than necessary damages the skin of the surface impairing its structural quality. The cleaning solution is as important as the equipment itself. Use cleaners in accordance to the surface to derive best results. Usage of the right nozzle that doesn't use excess power for spraying is recommended. Excess power spray can damage surfaces, especially those of wood. Ready the pressure washer with all its hoses in place and with water running through it. Remove furniture and other properties before commencing cleaning, to avoid damage. Stand firm and hold spray gun tight while cleaning to avoid jerks in reaction to the power spray. Do not alter the spray tip or the pattern of spray while spraying.

Hurting Milos Raonic has Australian Open run end in quarterfinals
Hurting Milos Raonic has Australian Open run end in quarterfinals Hurting Milos Raonic has Australian Open run end in quarterfinals https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
MELBOURNE, Australia — Canadian Milos Raonic is done at the Australian Open — and now is facing another health concern.
France’s Lucas Pouille has reached the Australian Open semifinals for the first time with a 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-4 win over the 16th-seeded Raonic, a major reversal of form at Melbourne Park after losing in the first round here in the previous five years.
Afterward, the 28-year-old Raonic said he is battling a knee injury and is expected to get it evaluated by doctors shortly.
“There’s damage inside my knee I’m aware of that I’m trying to avoid potentially having to have surgery on,” said Raonic, who has been hampered by injuries throughout his career.
That’s why Raonic was not named to Canada’s Davis Cup team Tuesday for a clay-court tie in Slovakia Feb. 1-2. There’s still a chance he could enter after he consults with his medical team, but Raonic said switching surfaces quickly can be a risk.
Pouille entered the quarterfinal 0-3 against Raonic in career meetings — including a first-rounder here in 2016 — but targeted the 2016 Wimbledon finalist’s second serve and was only broken once himself in the match.
“I saw the way he’s been playing this week, the last few matches he’s been playing extremely well,” Raonic said. “I knew he was going to make things difficult. I wish I would have served better and cleaned up some aspects of my game where I felt I was a little behind.”
Raonic got only 58 per cent of his first serves in, as compared to 66 per cent for Pouille.
“I just didn’t take care of the things I needed to take care of,” Raonic said.
The No. 28-seeded Pouille had break points in the seventh and ninth games of the third set but Raonic, of Thornhill, Ont., saved and, after an outburst against the chair umpire in the 12th game, dominated the tiebreaker.
On the controversial point, Raonic’s service return hit the baseline but was called out. When he challenged it, and a replay confirmed his shot was good, chair umpire Nico Helwerth ordered a replay of the point.
Raonic thought he deserved to be given the point and, when he asked why it wasn’t awarded to him, told the umpire “because you don’t watch, because you’re incapable.”
The fourth set was on serve until Pouille, who is coached by former Australian Open women’s champion Amelie Mauresmo, broke in the last game.
Raonic is now 1-3 in Australian Open quarterfinals, but he had a tough draw at Melbourne Park. He had to hold off Nick Kyrgios in the first round, former champion Stan Wawrinka in the second and No. 4-seeded Alexander Zverev in the fourth.
Pouille will next play six-time Australian titlist Novak Djokovic.
Pouille had lost every Australian Open match he played until he hired Mauresmo as coach.
A couple of months later, he’s into a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time. Things will get tougher, though, against Djokovic.
Pouille isn’t even sure how far he’s capable of going at Melbourne Park. But after losing in the first round on his five previous visits, he knows he’s on the upward trajectory.
“I didn’t win a match in Melbourne before coming here (this year),” Pouille said. “Now I’m in the semifinals. So just very, very happy.”
Mauresmo, who won two major titles as a player, including the 2006 Australian women’s title, had previously worked as Andy Murray’s coach. Pouille said Mauresmo had quickly worked out how to improve his game.
“She’s the right state of mind. She knows everything about tennis. It’s not about being a woman or a man. It doesn’t matter,” Pouille said in an on-court interview when asked about the rarity of a highly-ranked male player working with a female coach. “You just have to know what you’re doing — and she does.”
For Pouille, the Canadian had some words of wisdom.
“It’s not so much only the opponent you’re facing, but it’s also the situation, which is a completely new one for him,” Raonic said. “I think he has to stay true to himself, try to do the things he does well, really focus on that aspect more than anything else.”
Meanwhile, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski’s bid for a second straight Australian Open mixed doubles title is over. The Ottawa native and Mate Pavic of Croatia, the top seeds, lost 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 to Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain and Neal Skupski of the United Kingdom in a quarterfinal.
In junior girls play, No. 4 seed Leylah Fernandez of Montreal advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Lisa Pigato of Italy.
In junior boys third-round action, No. 15 seed Liam Draxl of Toronto lost 6-4, 7-5 to top seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.
