an essay i wrote for school about lgbtq+
The LGBTQ+ community is not bad, it is not wrong to like the same gender as you, or like non-binary people, or like nobody. Some Catholics will say it is against the Catholic faith to be gay. But, that is actually not true. In the Bible, it never said anything about how being gay is wrong. (Not one writing said that.) If you are truly a Catholic you would know that God loves everyone and he would never send a gay to hell just because they like the same gender or more.
If you are homophobic because you don’t want gays to like you… well, you’re actually pretty dumb. If you make fun of the LGBTQ+ community, gays aren’t going to like you. (We have standards.) Even if you are heterosexual, you shouldn’t live in fear that a gay will have a crush on you. Getting crushes are a part of life. And if that bothers you please grow up because it’s not like you had a crush on Sally in fourth grade and asked her out. The same thing goes for gays when they ask a heterosexual out. If you don’t like them like that, just say “I don’t like you like that. I’m sorry.” You say that, and it won’t be offensive at all. It’s not that hard to respect the LGBQT+ community.
Moving into how the LGBTQ+ community needs more rights… I don’t think people can get this into other’s heads. WE ARE ALL HUMAN. NOBODY IS THE SAME. Gays get hardly any rights nowadays, and they didn’t even get any before! In some states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North, and South Dakota, Texas, Ohio, and finally, Tennesse) are all states in the united states that won’t let the same-sex marriage happen. It is so outrageous that that cannot happen. Please, just let the LGBTQ+ community be happy, let them get married, let them have rights, let them be valid, let them not get terrorized, and finally, let them have peace. We are all equal, we all should stand together. Because like I said, we are all human.
With all that being said, let’s move onto why it doesn’t matter… We are all just people, and when it comes down to it all, we are all different, nobody is the same. Not one person. We should never judge others based on their beliefs. Even if you think it is wrong… there are no right and wrongs for what you believe in. The only thing that should matter, is that you should be yourself.
