Let‘s make dango for moon-gazing! (tenirabi event)
The kids divide up into teams and compete over who can make the best dango!
This is a scene from Sanada‘s team:
(later…)
The eventual fate of the Usainu-dango was not yet revealed. It is possible it was spared.

I feel like I'm not alone in the 2024 return to tenipuri! My return was April to contracts.
My first interaction with Prince of Tennis was either in 2006 or 2008 (I doubt it was 2005) when I saw it airing during a summer vacation in China on BTV10 (before it became the cartoon Kaku channel). Then around 2009 is when I dove into fanfiction dot net, created an account, and slowly started to really immerse myself in various stories as a reader. I was and am especially fond of the OC community from the nonfiction community, and I hold a lot of those works, authors, and memories with such positive memories. My distancing from tenipuri coincideding with going through high school and college, as I generally distanced from both anime & manage in general and the various OC authors previously mentioned slowly started to leave the FF community (school/ work/ life/ left fandom etc). At this point during these years, I was a manga-canon girl only.
I had a brief stint in college where I binge read the manga again, sometime during 2017-2018....and am mini revival of certain stories (@xcoffeelatte @tcafs08) and then I came back to tumblr to try to eat my feelings and felt the joy of being a fangirl.
It seems that unlike @galaticyarn I this time around decided to join discord, AO3, and try my hand in writing fics. I don't play Tenirabi given its all in japanese and i just really dislike rhythm games in general, but i love reading the fan-translated events in it (i wish i liked rhythym game). I never previously read any of the BL/ shonenai ships in prince of tennis....was all het (Female OC x tenipuri character; KiriAn, and RyoSaku), so to me, engaging and indulging in a large part of the fandom has been eyeopening. I don't actively ship, have a few ships I'm not a fan of...but overall much more mellow.
THEN I DID SHINTENI which put me off of tenipuri initially cause i was so MAD by the whole premise (still kinda am but its more of an "is what it is attitude". Twitter is much more active than discord, but overall fandom seems to be in a mini-lul period (unless tenimyu. that causes some commotion the past few weeks).
IDK how long this venture back to tenipuri fandom will have on me...but each time it's such a fun time back down memory lane (and adding to it. like...RYOGA? mouri? also freaking just learned so many years late FUJI ALMOST TRANSFERED TO RIKKAI WILL NEVER stop to shock me).
Blabbering about Tenipuri
In early 2024, I finally read The New Prince of Tennis and had so many thoughts that I figured I may as well write them up for sharing. I got into The Prince of Tennis around 2006 when I was the same age as some of the characters. These were the days of Livejournal, as well as fanfiction dot net, AKA the pit of voles. My favorite ship was InuKai. Over the next few years, I gradually faded out of the fandom until I basically didn’t think about Tenipuri whatsoever. From roughly 2012-2017, I wasn’t really in online fandom at all. I never made the change from LJ to Twitter or Tumblr.
Sometime around 2016, I got back into Tenipuri because of a friend on Plurk, a social media site that still shows you posts from people you follow in chronological order. I ended up joining the Tenipuri Discord as well as AO3, watched some of Tenimyu for the first time, and wrote fics for the first time since the LJ days. I started playing Rising Beat, and went downhill from there (in a good way.) As an adult, my views on the characters that I used to dislike have softened to the point that I pretty much like all of them. My favorite individuals and ships definitely shifted around and I’d be hard pressed to pick only one character or one ship, because I get different things out of each.
Now that I have read Shinteni, I gained 5 (five!) new ships. For a while they were filling my mind when I would wake up earlier than my alarm, and when I would try to fall asleep. I guess this goes to show how very much I am into Tenipuri. I haven't been very active in fandom Discord servers now that those seem to be where everyone is, but I’m feeling the urge to try online fandom again. I can’t believe I missed out on the Tenirabi zines because I had muted the entire server…
All this to say I’m back :)

The Exciting First Sunrise of The Year
Prologue
Jirou: *yawn*
Shishido: Jirou is on his limit, huh.
Jirou: No, I can still go for more!
Gakuto: Well, you’ve come this far, so stay awake until the time.
Jirou: Yes! Just a little bit more!
Gakuto: So? Who’s Shishido’s favorite type?
Shishido: We’re still talking about that?
Yuushi: Is it still the same? The cheeky type of girl?
Jirou: …..
Gakuto: Just say it already.
Shishido: It’s not that. What about you, Gakuto? What’s your favorite type of girl?
Gakuto: I like girls who are easy going. What about Jirou?
Jirou: Hmm… Girls who are cheerful and fun?
Gakuto: Right. You’ve said it before. Well, your type hasn’t changed huh.
Jirou: (Nnn… I don’t want to sleep, yet… My vision is already blurred…)
Yuushi: Jirou is already nodding off.
Shishido: You okay, Jirou?
Gakuto: Come on, just a bit more.
Shishido: If you fell asleep here, then it’ll be meaningless!
Jirou: …..Nnnn….
Shishido: Ah, he closed his eyes.
Yuushi: At this rate, he’s not gonna wake up.
Gakuto: Jirou, wake up! Isn’t this something you’ve been waiting for!?
Jirou: (…Something I’ve been waiting for? What is it that I’ve been waiting for again?)
to be continued...

Fics I’m working on right now
Going through my google docs right now and found half finished/basically finished fics I totally forgot I wrote. This post is just for me to keep track of all the things I’ve started, but if there’s anything you’re interested in reading that you see here let me know and it will motivate me to actually finish or post it! btw i don’t write anything that doesn’t have a happy ending i dont hurt myself like that
Already published: The Sorting Hater - (T for language) Massive ensemble Hogwarts AU, shippy (incl. crack ships that make sense in context), just through the years series of stories, no real overarching plot, 8 chapters published https://archiveofourown.org/works/15707238 Slowly - (T for language) OshiGaku getting together fic, mostly fluffy, tenirabi canon compliant/u17 setting, should be finished within the next month, 3/5 chapters published https://archiveofourown.org/works/17584979 Basically done: Star Wars - G Silver Pair getting together fic that is actually done but needs to be edited, partially in free verse poetry format, my first fic, extremely fluffy
205 - G Hiyoshi/Kirihara oneshot from U17 (fluff)
Other: Silver Pair Oneshots (all fluff): -Castle Movie Silver Pair fic (free verse) covering the events of shishido taking a tennis bullet for choutarou and what happens in the hospital room after (basically done) -Hiyoshi convinces Choutarou to confess his feelings to Shishido -Shishido is afraid he’s too rough with Choutarou once they finally get together and finds out Choutarou is a fReAk -Choutarou cuts Shishido’s hair for him
OshiGaku Poem- a free verse thing that’s part history of yuushi and gakuto’s friendship, switching perspectives as feelings change and how they deal and get together
Memory Foam- nsfw Oshigaku fic where basically they’re both always in relationships and after a moment of weakness admit they have sexual tension, but know they are too thotty to try being with each other/it would risk their friendship so they try to deal with that. Basically just a fic consisting of sexual tension. High Angst levels, slow burn
Wanna Makeout?- nsfw Oshigaku FWB fic, probably angst but happy ending ofc
College AU- nsfw Oshigaku were separated when they were caught in a spontaneous first kiss by Gakuto’s dad in 3rd year and Gakuto vanished to Russian boarding school, but he comes back 3-4 years later and they meet again as university freshmen. lots of backstory drama and angst, also wanted to explore them as “adults” see how they grow up a little. I wanted to write smut where they’re both experienced but without them being like 15. slow burn, shitload of angst Oshigaku Oneshots (Dirty Pair Dirty Pair Dirty Pair): -library sex -gakuto trying to be better at something than yuushi for once (guess)
Should I be working on the two fics I’ve already published? Absolutely! And, I am. I have a lot written for both. I promise. For real.

Let's make dango for moon-gazing! (parts 9/10 translation)
The kids divide up into teams and compete over who can make the best dango for moon-gazing. Now that the weather has cleared up, the competition is on its way. Read part 8 here!
Disclaimer: Actual translation, not a shitpost.
Echizen: I heard it was Shitenhouji's turn next... but they're late, huh.
Syusuke: I wonder if they had some trouble?
Toyama: Made you wait! It took some time to bring it here!
Zaizen: I'm ready to go anytime, Shihan.
Ishida: Thank you. Kintaro, we're done with the preparations.
Toyama: Then here I go! This is Shitenhouji-style moon-gazing!
Toyama: Ta-da! Moon-gazing special takoyaki! We made plenty, so everyone eat!
Kenya: We brought them fresh from the camp, so they're still warm and tasty.
Konjiki: Everyone, be careful not to burn your tongues...! If you ask me nicely, I'll blow on them for you, ufun♡
Hitouji: Stop taking advantage of the moment! Are you cheating on me, Koharu~!
Zaizen: Senpai, please drop it and help us handing them out.
Toyama: Line up here if you don't have any yet!
Syusuke: That's a surprise. Who would have thought they'd make moon-gazing takoyaki instead of dango.
Echizen: But it's exactly the kinda thing Shintenhouji would do.
Syusuke: You're right. They did not only care about the taste, but they made it interesting, too. That's something only they could do.
Syusuke: But I don't intend to lose.
Toyama: Next up is big bro's team! I wanna see what they made!
Ishida: Let's see what they got.
Syusuke: Fufu... these are the dango we made.
Toyama: Hm, wha? These dango are shaped like raindrops.
Syusuke: Krauser-kun suggested we make the dango as they are usually served in Nagoya.
Krauser: It was a great opportunity to learn about dango, so I did a lot of research.
Syusuke: And there's one more thing, please enjoy these together.
Ishida: Oh, tea with chrysanthemum petals? How very poetic.
Syusuke: Because there's also the chrysanthemum festival where people pray for good health. They decorate with chrysanthemum flowers and have drinks with petals in them, so we tried to incorporate that.
Zaizen: Heh, so that's the meaning behind it. I got a good story for my blog.
Echizen: Moon-gazing dango from Nagoya... it's not bad to have some variety.
Syusuke: It's interesting to see the difference between regions.
Echizen: Yeah. It kinda made me want to find out about other places, too.
--- (part 10 below)
Mukahi: The last presentation is Echizen's group.
Akutagawa: So it's the last one already. I'm excited!
Toyama: I wanna see the dango Koshimae made!
Echizen: Well then, here I go now. These are the dango we made.
Toyama: ...huh? They kinda look really plain.
Syusuke: Traditional moon-gazing dango from the Kanto region. I wonder if there's something more to it?
Echizen: You'll know when you try them.
Syusuke: Mh? This is... there's something sweet inside.
Mukahi: He's right. Is it... pumpkin?
Echizen: Yep. We made a sweet pumpkin paste and put it inside.
Mukahi: I see... pumpkin and dango go well together.
Akutagawa: But why did you choose pumpkin?
Echizen: For American moon-gazing... for thanksgiving day pumpkin pie is a staple, so we tried to combine them.
Echizen: And when everyone's reactions were really favourable, we made this our groups dish.
Syusuke: I see. So these dango are a fusion of Japanese and American culture.
Toyama: As expected of Koshimae! You got me!
Echizen: Right, there was a competition. So do we all agree our dango are number one?
Syusuke: Don't be so hasty. It's true your team's dango were delicious, but I think number one should be our team.
Mukahi: No way, it has to be us! You were all excited about the Usainu-dango!
Toyama: Nuh-uh, our takoyaki dango was best!
Echizen: Hah. At this rate, we'll never know who won.
Echizen: Ah.
Toyama: What is it?
Echizen: It's nothing, I just thought the moon looked a little like a rabbit from here.
Toyama: What, really? Where, where?
Echizen: Uhm, like there?
Akutagawa: Hmm, I can't see it---
Syusuke: But now that we're looking at it, it's a really beautiful full moon, isn't it?
Mukahi: Yeah. It'd be a pity to miss it, so let's postpone the competition and watch the moon.
Toyama: You're right! Moon-gazing is more important!
Toyama: I'll get power from the moon and become even stronger in tennis!
Echizen: Yeah.

F.A.Q
This will be regularly updated.
1. Account
1.1 Where do I download the game (Non-Japanese)?
iOS: Make a Japanese Itunes account.
Android: Download QooApp. Run it and search for ‘rising beat’ and allow your phone to install apk’s from unauthorized sources.
1.2 I have an error/bug/ it doesn’t download for me.
Check first if your internet is wonky. Tenirabi needs a very solid connection. See that there is enough allotted space in your phone, it is quite a big game. If everytime you start up the game it starts a big download, it means that you don’t have enough space. For bugs that don’t seem to be solved, feel free to contact us or contact support.
1.3 How do I save/trade/reroll my account?
Look at this guide.
1.4 Why would I want to save/reroll/trade my account?
Save: If your phone breaks/gets lost, you will still have your account information, and can play on another device.
Reroll: This is reserved to persons who have just started. By rerolling, you can start out with higher rarity cards or your favorite cards. This gives an advantage for scoring/husbando scouting.
Trade: If you roll something your friends wants and vice versa, you can swap accounts.
1.5 Do I have to link my e-mail?
No you don’t. If you want to claim your preregistration prize, it suffices to just play the game, as the rewards are distributed to everyone.
1.6 Is the game in Japanese only?
Chances are small that it will be imported to other countries, so yeah, for now it’s only Japanese.
2. Currency
2.1 Does this game cost real money?
No, it is free to play. That said, it works with a gacha system, a sort of lottery, to make it fair and gain revenue. It also works with an AP system, where every time you play it will cost in game AP. This AP regenerates over time, but can be quickly refilled with in game items or with Beatstones.
2.2 What are beatstones?
Beatstones (bistos) are premium currency, that can also be bought. You use it to roll the gacha and gain cards of the characters. It can also allow you to continue playing a song you failed.
2.3 Why do I have enter my age to buy beatstones?
Japan restricts buying with real money for minors. If you’re younger than 16, you’re restricted to 5000 yen a month, between 16-20 it is 20000 yen and if you’re an adult it’s limitless.
2.4 I can’t buy any beatstones, even though I am an adult?
Change your store to JP is the only solution we can offer for now.
2.5 How do I get beatstones for free?
Currently, there are various ways of earning beatstones for free.
1: Read a story chapter = 25 bistos 2: Daily missions = 10 bistos if you clear the three daily missions 3: Weekly missions = 50 bistos if you login for 7 days 4: Login bonus = Every day you login you get a reward. These could be bistos. 5: Playing songs: Easy: 10 bistos for FC, 10 bistos for S score, 40 bistos if you play the song 10 times. Medium: 20 bistos for FC, 20 bistos for S score, 40 bistos if you play the song 10 times. Hard: 30 bistos for FC, 30 bistos for S score, 40 bistos if you play the song 50 times. Expert: 40 bistos for FC, 40 bistos for S score, 40 bistos if you play the song 50 times. 6: Ranking up a character = 10 bistos for each rank 7: Ranking reward 8: Point reward 9: Main mission or mini eventrewards 10: After maintenance or if Akatsuki decides to be generous
3. Gameplay
3.1 How do I change who is on my main screen?
Go to your main screen and click the second box on the upper left.
3.2 What are the Rackets/Balls/Shoes for?
They are used to level up your characters stats, not your level, on the RRR. You can also use them to unlock stories, voice lines and costumes. Rackets are the rarest, balls the most common.
3.3 How do I get Rackets/Balls/Shoes?
Play songs. We are currently looking into the drop rate.
3.4 How do I change the order of my team?
Go to the main screen. Go to ‘Card’. Click the second button.
3.5 How do I unlock songs?
You progress the main story. There are also songs that are given after you complete a mission. You can also get songs from events.
3.6 How do I idolize/awaken/get that pretty art from my card?
You complete the RRR (Rokkuroad) until the rainbow hexagon tile.
3.7 What is the Rokkuroad/RRR/Hexaroad?
The special training road for each individual card on which you have to spend your rackets, balls and shoes to level your stats, unlock stories/voicelines/costumes.
3.8 Why is it called RRR?
It is short for Rokkaku’s Revenge Road. The cost to complete the road will eat your soul (or wallet), just like Rising beat ate Rokkaku’s popularity.
3.9 What do duplicate cards do?
They extend the RRR. N can be extended up to 3 times, Rs up to 5 times, SRS up to 10 times and SSRS up to 10 times. They will automatically combine if you get a duplicate. Each duplicate will give you an extra luck tile in the RRR. This will raise the card’s luck.
3.10 How do I play with my characters in MySpace?
Tap and hold.
3.11 Does MySpace fo anything for my characters?
Characters inside MySpace can be gifted stars, to rank up their bond. You can also place furniture that will raise your score, money gain and gets you items.
3.12 How do I extend MySpace?
You can’t. You can however change the flooring of the three rectangles you get alotted to indoor/outdoor.
3.13 What are events?
Events are occurences that can last from a week to half a month, depending on the length. They’re usually seasonal, which means they are temporarily available and won’t rerun until a later date, most of the time not until a year has passed. These events usually offer rewards for playing them that are exclusive to that event, these can include items, songs, stories, cards...etc.
4. Others
4.1 Will you translate stories/cards/voice lines/missions etc...?
Maybe.

The Exciting First Sunrise of The Year
Chapter 6
Jirou: Let’s go watch the first sunrise together!
Atobe: That’s not a bad idea.
Jirou: Right!?
Kabaji: Usu.
Shishido: Well, I don’t mind but…
Hiyoshi: Akutagawa-san, will you be able to stay awake?
Jirou: I’ll do my best!
Ootori: What about you, Hiyoshi? Will you be okay?
Hiyoshi: Heh, waking up early is my specialty.
Ootori: But you don’t like the cold, don’t you?
Hiyoshi: *looks away* …..
Atobe: Do you want me to prepare a heater?
Hiyoshi: What are you saying? I don’t need it.
Jirou: I can lend you my jersey.
Hiyoshi: It’s okay. I’ll manage somehow.
Shishido: Anyway, if we’re going to watch the first sunrise, don’t we have to go out before dawn?
Atobe: I received the permission to transfer rooms after lights out, but… we will need a different permission to go out for this one, huh.
Jirou: What if we didn’t get the permission…
Atobe: I’ll go ask, wait a minute.
Ootori: Hmm… will we get the permission…
Hiyoshi: If it’s Atobe buchou, I’m sure it’ll be okay.
Shishido: Going out at night sounds like fun.
Jirou: Yeah! I’m already excited!
??? : Seems like you guys are talking about something interesting.
Jirou: Eh?
