ahh, i dont know if you’d seen yohaji but i’d like to request a luocha x reader based of karasuma ranmaru!
ranmaru is a karasu tengu who was previously a god and is the leader of the Karasu Tengu Troupe. he’s thief who's always up to no good. he’s cheeky, sly, and extremely devious, in which his goal is to earn money
i hope u have a nice day, and i enjoy all of the work you make! ♪( ´▽`)
a merchant and a thief
Tumblr media
synopsis - how he deals with a rather interesting companion he meets in an unfortunate way
includes - luocha
warnings - gn!reader, fluff, slight crack, wc - 485
a/n: wishing you a lovely day as well anon <3
Tumblr media
↪as a wandering merchant, luocha was bound to traverse through multitudes of worlds, each of which was just as unique and diverse as all those that came before it - and certainly was going to be the trend among the future ones.
↪he had always met unique people, some of them were clients and some were simple faces in the crowd. nonetheless, to him, you were by far one of the most intriguing ones.
↪luocha had met you for the first time when you had decided that he would be the next victim of your robberies. he was a prime target in your eyes and you were certain that he had to of carried around quite a bit of money or at least something you could pawn off - he was a merchant after all
↪unfortunately for you, luocha wasn't going to let you get away with attempting to steal from him. albeit you're first encounter wasn't exactly the friendliest, but somehow it ended up leading the two of you into quite the weird relationship.
↪perhaps it came down to the fact that luocha found something interesting about you, but whatever it was, it ended with luocha spending most of his time on your planet accompanying you.
↪to say luocha was surprised to find out that you, a previously thought petty thief, was the leader of a very important troupe on your planet, would be an understatement - especially considering how you were always up to no good despite you're laid-back attitude that indicated everything but a leader.
↪however, most people were surprised that luocha could actually deal with your sly and devious behaviour for as long as he did.
↪and in all honesty on luocha's behalf, your audacity and extremely underhand behaviour was somewhat charming. on most occasions luocha's more calm and rather rational behaviour was enough to balance out your slyness.
↪and that's how you're relationship worked - luocha spent most of his time keeping you in check and it was a complete shock to you're troupe members that you actually listened to him and stopped trying to steal from him.
↪but luocha certainly became much more intrigued around you when you eventually told him about your ex-status as a god. he'd always had an interest in some aeons and so being able to meet someone who had a similar, albeit lower, status previously was a point of awe for him.
↪if there was one thing for certain, luocha would certainly want to keep you as a lifelong companion.

A Terrified Teacher At Ghoul School Episode 9 Review - Villainous Doofuses
What’s this? Is this the first instance of an actual villain squad in this story? A rule of advice: whether a character is human, a youkai, protagonist or antagonist, everyone in this story have a lot of doofus energy inside of them. That’s how Mai Tanaka creates them. Don’t take these crows seriously because you’re not supposed to.
Tumblr media
This entire episode is actually only two chapters in the manga. Isn’t that crazy? This is a mini-arc showcasing how there are villainous youkai even amongst the good ones on Hyakki Island. In the manga, this mini-arc actually takes place right after the Momoyama chapter where she got sprayed with the perfume and caused a majority of the male youkais to fall for her. The anime actually does a good job changing only the beginning aspect of this plot with Hatanaka sighing about the class he has to teach and then being taken by the villains. In the manga, Hatanaka laments over the fact that the perfume caused him to fall for someone who wasn’t his wife and then the villain calls out his name and that was how he was taken. Other than that, everything else about this plot is the same as it was in the manga with the animal youkai being kidnapped and Hatanaka, Tamao and Mame being one of the many abducted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The story mainly focused on Haruaki, Sano and Miki trying to find and rescue their abducted students and colleague. I did like that each of them did get their fair share of screen time. The secretary, Tenmaru, plays illusions on them that preys on their biggest weaknesses. For Miki, he’s afraid of women due to having five older sisters. In the beginning of the episode, Haruaki learns that Miki has never been in a relationship despite looking like a playboy. Hm…being afraid of women and never been in a relationship before? I always had this inkling of a feeling that Miki could be gay, but his sexuality is never confirmed. For Sano, his biggest weakness happens to be Haruaki, which was hilarious because the multiplying amounts of Haruakis caused him to pass out. I’m assuming he’s afraid of Haruaki but also finds him the biggest annoyance in his life. For Haruaki, he’s afraid of middle school delinquents. I mean, it was to be expected as the first episode established that he quit his first teaching job the moment a delinquent student snapped at him in just thirty minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, let’s talk about the villains, the Karasu Tengu Troupe! They’re a quirky bunch that sort of reminds me of the Team Rocket trio from Pokemon. The captain, Ranmaru, is the biggest stand out with his loud ham tendencies and being the biggest doofus of the three. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding him, however, like with his connection to the Principal and the actual Abe no Seimei from long ago. This means that this guy is old as heck. However, he actually doesn’t do all that much in this episode aside from being all touchy-feely with Haruaki as he mistook him for Seimei. Though, he did contribute to the lore buildup.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be honest, Bonmaru, the one with the long brown hair, was actually the biggest threat with how he could summon a plethora of human-faced rocks and being the biggest hurdle in the rescue attempt. He knocked out Miki and was about to win against Sano had not he used his magic. Though, he did knock out Haruaki, the Principal, and his comrades due to Sano, so he got the biggest hit count in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tenmaru, the secretary, was the second biggest threat with his illusion magic, but falls short of being threatening due to him being with Ranmaru when he was trying to persuade Haruaki to join him. Though, Tenmaru might be seen more often as it’s revealed that he’s also a student of Hyakki Academy, hence why he knew who Haruaki was. The part with him stealing Haruaki’s wallet at the end was hilarious because it was a useless effort as he only had 80 yen inside (which is like 0.53 cents in USD).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other details about this episode I liked was the characters interacting with the three Mandoragas, the Principal kicking Haruaki away and the wholesome moments with Mame and Sano. I also liked the part where Tamao told Hatanaka and Mame about his dream to be Nyuudou’s pet cat when he gets married. That’s some weird aspirations you got there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you know that Ranmaru’s voice actor wasn’t revealed before airing, but it was revealed yesterday? His voice actor is Showtaro Morikubo, a big-name voice actor. If you’re not familiar with him, he voiced Shikamaru Nara from Naruto/Boruto, Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4 and Yusuke Makishima from Yowamushi Pedal. I did find it weird that Bonmaru and Tenmaru’s voice actors weren’t revealed alongside his, but I guess it makes sense given that Ranmaru is the most important, but it’s also that Bon and Ten’s voice actors aren’t super well-known. Bonmaru’s voice actor is Wataru Kato, who voiced the MC of 100 Girlfriends. Tenmaru’s voice actor is Noriaki Kanze, who also voices the Human-Faced Fish that appears occasionally since Episode 2. To be honest, of the voices, Tenmaru sort of throws me off because he sounds a lot older than how I imagined it would sound like. It’s not a bad voice, but I’ll definitely have to get used to it.
Tumblr media
I applaud the author’s capability of writing a serious plot like animal youkai abductions and still add in comedy into it. I admire those kind of writing skills. If you have watched this episode, what are your thoughts on it?

im actually so sad knowing that the anime probs gonna only be 12ish eps and end at the tengu troupe arc. Its make sense but what if there wont be a season two, and it ends just like that.
Like imagine its 24 and it stretches to the great Tokyo search arc. We get to see Ebisu, Kyoto flashback w/ baby Sano, the sad Haruaki chapter and the start of Fujiogo.
Anyway

[R] Yuki | The 1001st Story
Tumblr media
The hack actor from back then caused us a lot of trouble, but... If we didn’t get pulled by that guy, this current Summer Troupe probably wouldn’t exist.

―Lounge (Night)―
Muku: Eek...!
Yuki: You don’t need to read if you’re that scared.
Muku: B-but, the illustrations are so cute...!
Misumi: Ah, Yuki and Muku~. They’re reading a book together~.
Kazunari: Hey there, fellas~. Whatcha reading?
Yuki: Here.
Kumon: “100 Ghost Stories”...?
Kazunari: Ghost stories?! The cover book looks pretty cute tho...
Yuki: Yup. I found it in the reference room.
I remembered reading it before, so I brought it with me.
Kumon: So you’ve already read about it!
Misumi: This oni has a triangle horn~! Ah! There’s a cat here!
Kazunari: I know this story! It seems scary, but it’s actually quite a good one~.
Yuki: Ohh, the one where a bakeneko saves its master.
Misumi: What a good cat~.
Muku: It’s such a wonderful story!
Kazunari: Let’s look at other stories!
Misumi: Oh, this person’s hood is a triangle~!
Kumon: Tengu’s here too! Hella cool~!
Tenma: I’m home~.
Muku: Welcome home, Tenma-kun.
Tenma: What’re you guys gathering here for?
Yuki: We were reading this.
Tenma: You-! That’s...!
Kumon: What’s wrong, Tenma-san?
Yuki: Truth is, before our first stage play-.
*Flashback*
Tumblr media
―Room 201 (Night)―
Tenma: Aren’t you gonna do any role study for Scheherazade?
Yuki: Role study?
Tenma: There must be something you can do, like what Sakisaka did by reading the original book. It’s important to know about your role in depth.
Yuki: ...Acting like a leader.
Tenma: I’m not acting! I really AM one!
Yuki: Yeah, yeah.
Tenma: Don’t give me that “Yeah, yeah”! That’s no way to behave towards your leader-.
Yuki: *sighs* ...So noisy. I’ll turn off the lights.
*click*
Tenma: H-hey! ...Geez.
Yuki: (Role study, huh...)
(...Ah, I know.)
*click*
Yuki: Hey.
Tenma: What. I’m going to bed-.
Yuki: Help me with the role study.
Tenma: ...Role study?
Yuki: You told me to do it a while ago, remember?
Tenma: Hmph, so you’re finally up for it. What’re you gonna do?
Yuki: I was thinking of doing a storytelling.
Tenma: Storytelling?
Yuki: Scheherazade used to tell Ali Baba bedtime stories, right? Thought I should try doing the same thing to deepen the understanding of my role.
Tenma: Ahh, I see. Sure, I’ll help you out.
Yuki: Okay, we’ll start with “100 Ghost Stories”-.
Tenma: G-ghost stories?!
__________________________
The Return of Fear, A Hundred Midnight Stories - Part 2
__________________________
Tenma: I-I won’t listen to ghost stories!
Yuki: Huh? You said you will just now.
Tenma: Only because I didn’t know what story you’d read!
Yuki: ...Are you scared?
Tenma: I-It’s not like I’m scared or anything. Besides, ghost stories aren’t exactly for a bedtime story, you know?
Yuki: There weren’t any books other than this in the reference room. It’s not that scary, so you should be fine. (1)
Tenma: Hngh...
Yuki: Once upon a time-.
Tenma: ...S-stop it!
Yuki: There lived...
Tenma: Ugh-!
(I got no choice but to listen...)
Yuki: ...That’s all for tonight.
Tenma: Finally, it’s over...
Yuki: Huh, you’re still awake? You wrapped yourself in blanket and didn’t move an inch at all, so I thought you slept already.
Tenma: I-I just couldn’t fall sleep because of your bad reciting-.
Yuki: Is that so. Good night, then.
Tenma: H-hey...!
Tenma: .....
Yuki: *sleep soundly*
Tenma: .....
...I can’t sleep.
Tumblr media
―Practice Room―
Kazunari: G’morning~!
Yuki: Morning.
Tenma: ...Good morning.
Kazunari: OMG! What happened, Tenten?! You look like a panda!
Tenma: ...Nothing.
Yuki: Were you so scared of the ghost story last night that you couldn’t fall sleep?
Tenma: ...!
Yuki: Was it a spot-on?
Tenma: Sh-shut up!
*Flashback ends*
Yuki: -and that’s what happened.
Kumon: Ahaha, I see~!
Kazunari: So nostalgic~! That did happen, huh!
Misumi: You were no good with scary things since then~.
Tenma: That’s not true!
Muku: So you were referring to this book when you mentioned a ghost story back then.
Tenma: Oh, right. I don’t think you guys know, but there’s a history behind that book.
Kazunari: History?
Tenma: Yeah... Soon after that, a lot of bad things happened...
Like, I felt a person’s gaze on me while I was washing my hair, or when I hear some noise in the kitchen and dropped a cup...
Yuki: That’s just you being freaked out.
Muku: But still, the Scheherazade during the play was very wonderful. Maybe it was a good thing that he did the storytelling for his role study!
Tenma: Well... I do admit that.
Yuki: Hm~. It’s been a while, so should I read you a story tonight?
Tenma: NOOO---!!!

[1] In this backstage, they used this word "Kaidan" (怪談). Generally, it means "ghost/horror story", but it's more of a "strange/mysterious tales". The kaidan stories can be funny, or strange, or a retelling of an odd thing that happened before. They can be scary most of the times, but they are not intended to be scary at all. ( Ref 1 / Ref 2 )

“Hyakki Yagyō”
Translation: "The Parade of One Hundred Demons... but make it bottle service."
Meaning: A play on Hyakki Yagyō, the Japanese folklore night parade of demons, and the chaos of modern host clubs. Except this time, the parade’s got hangovers, HR violations, and too much sake.
[In modern-day Kabukichō, where neon lights outshine the stars and love is bought in 60-minute drink plans—one struggling host club owner makes a deal he very much regrets. To save his dying business, he signs a ten-year contract with a troupe of yokai… who don’t understand modern etiquette, boundaries, or how not to seduce each other mid-shift. This isn’t a fantasy. It’s a tax nightmare.]
Kabukichō, Tokyo. Midnight.
The streets sizzled with neon. High heels clicked. Light-up signs screamed promises of love, luxury, and limited-time lap pillows.
Tucked between a themed vampire bar and a laundromat that definitely sold drugs, was a host club so obscure Google Maps refused to acknowledge its existence.
CLUB YORUYOI – Night-Drunk.
The name sounded romantic. Mysterious. It was, in fact, a typo.
Inside, it smelled like danger, spilled shōchū, and spiritual regret.
Meet the Boss: Hanazawa Ichirō, 32.
Former salaryman. Current crying man.
He stared at the contract he drunkenly signed six months ago.
“Ten years. No cancellations. All employees must be respected as ancient, cursed beings with full shift pay.”
He sobbed.
A kitsune in the corner took a shot of fire-infused sake and tried to make out with his own tail.
A tanuki danced on the table in his fundoshi, yelling, “I’M THE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH, BABYYYY!”
And the onryō (vengeful spirit)? She was asleep inside a champagne tower. Again.
Ichirō clutched his head.
“WHY DID I HIRE THEM?! I JUST WANTED CHARMING MEN WHO COULD FLIRT, NOT START THE END TIMES!”
Yokai Staff Roll:
Kitsu: Fox spirit, eternal playboy. Smiles like a prince, lies like a politician. Flirts with clients and furniture.
Ponta: Tanuki, mischief gremlin. Spends his tips on yakitori and confetti cannons. Once tried to seduce a vending machine.
Yuki: Snow woman. Cold stare, colder heart. Only here because she lost a bet to a tengu.
Nue: Chimera-like yokai. Smokes cigars indoors. Sings enka karaoke at 2 a.m. like he’s avenging a betrayal.
Boss’s Regret: Every single one of them.
Scene: A Normal(?) Shift- (If you're curious about what happens next, you can read it through my Ko-fi link below.)

A Terrified Teacher At Ghoul School Episode 13 Review - Summer Reading
I find it funny how it’s super cold where I live yet Haruaki and co are enjoying the time of their lives basking in the summer heat. Because of that, it made me feel warm and not focus on how cold it was outside, so thanks for that, Yohaji! Anyways, the second half of the show starts and I’m surprised with how many things they spoiled in the opening and ending as a manga reader. I won’t get into too much detail as it’ll probably shown throughout the season.
Tumblr media
While the episode as a whole was a fun watch, I won’t deny that the anime did remove some details that anime-only watchers might not realize. Not only that, but there’s also how this episode is formatted. The first fourth of the episode is mainly seeing what some of Class 2-3 are doing during their summer break while the rest of the episode is mainly Haruaki causing chaos in a secondhand book shop where Sano and Tenmaru from the Tengu Troupe works.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sano spends his holiday with the Abe family. Here’s one instance of the anime omitting minor details. If you think this is a little weird how the principal just gave him Haruaki’s address and a map and told him to go to the Abe house, they actually removed some important detail from the manga in that Sano used to spend his holidays at the principal’s house due to circumstances and that it’s the first time the principal is not looking after him. This may be a minor detail, but it’s important information about Sano, who’s one of the main characters in this story.
Tumblr media
Anyways, it’s nice to see the Tengu Troupe again; though, it’s mainly just Tenmaru and Bonmaru. It’s nice to learn a lot about Ten like how he’s a closet otaku who’s into fictional girls and how his cool facade breaks when he sees an anime girl figurine. Sano didn’t know Ten was one of the kidnappers as he only saw and confronted Bon at the time as Ten was in a different area. Too bad we don’t really know much about Bon as he just popped up in the middle of the episode as they needed an extra person. Two additional details the anime omitted from this portion of this episode were the fact that Ten and Bon are brothers in their forged family documents, so the Karasuma Troupe are all adopted brothers. Another omitted detail was Ten revealing that he has been a virgin for 800 years as he became immortal so he wouldn’t die young.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole cursed book thing was chaotic with Haruaki accidentally making Sano and Ten a part of the story and getting them into wild situations likes Ten dying and having Sano and Ten almost doing the do. Haruaki shows off his intelligence by reversing the effects of Ten’s death and having the situations in the story happen to characters outside of the bookshop. Some of my favorite scenes were Rintaro preventing truck-kun from isekai-ing someone and Akira enjoying his alien abduction situation. The reason why Haruaki read the cursed book in the first place was because a weird man with blue hair and wearing a monocle recommended it to him—he turned out to be the ghost of the late author.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, the anime did jump ahead a few chapters after the Haruaki search arc which was the previous episode. There was a chapter that took place after Haruaki was rescued from the fire where he was hospitalized, but it’s only mentioned in this episode. The scene with Mama-aki and Haruaki was actually from that chapter, but they added it here. Though, it’s nice to see Mama-aki gently scolding her son. She’s super sweet.
Tumblr media
The anime also had some anime original scenes as they did cut out a few scenes from the chapters about the cursed book. The scene with Hatanaka and his three kids are anime original—the kids actually appear much earlier in the story, but the anime pushed them to making their debut in the second cour. The entire scene with the locusts is anime original too, I believe.
Tumblr media
Also, speaking of the Hatanaka kids, I can’t believe they gave two of them high quality voice actors. His daughter Saki is voiced by the one and only Megumi Han whom you might know as Nokotan and Kana Arima from Oshi no Ko. The son, Kamae, is voiced by Mutsumi Tamura, who you might know as young Kakashi from Naruto Shippuden and Hiro from Digimon Ghost Game. These kids only appeared for a few seconds and you’re already giving them S-tier voice actresses? The Yohaji production staff are crazy.
Tumblr media
I guess my only gripe would be that the animation quality looked a little derpy in some parts of the episode, but that’s it. I think this is a great way to start the second half of the show and I can’t wait to see what they will show next. What are your thoughts on this episode?

It was often said being born to sense nen was a blessing, a prominent sign of good luck. But far as you knew, none of that supposed luck ever found its way to you. If your family wasn't consumed by generations of debt, you would have likely had enough money to attend lessons. With that sort of training you would have no doubt made something of yourself. Instead of trying and failing to make ends meet.
Practically starving and treated like a diseased rat. Your gift could have been so much more than just seeing and hunting. Perhaps in another life that's your fate.
Dreaming of such a life was your only solace from your near constant suffering. Tragically, dreaming would have to wait until today until you finished your current job. In such desperate need of jenny, you couldn't turn down any offers you received with winter approaching.
Those who lived in your village usually tried to avoid having you work for them. It was an odd request. One you honestly hadn't seen coming,
In fact this would be your first visit to the temple, those who could not pay were left to face the gods wrath.
You arrived just a few hours ago and were greeted quite oddly. One would think that a last resort should have been welcomed in open arms. But that isn't what happens to you at all.
A few of the staff- all of which are humans lead you to a securely protected yet dimly lit room. If you didn't know any better you would have assumed you were dealing with occultists. Although the thought is not exactly too far-fetched. Dressed in fine silk, you could more easily see the shrine maiden as a royal concubine. The marking on her forehead as well is a mark of good luck- you know it must be. However, you can't help that it looks more akin to blood than whatever cosmetic was used.
Even if they are a bit colder than you were originally expecting. You pay the offputting behavior no mind. The shrine maiden has always acted in such a way. A job is a job and you have no need for a feast in your name or offerings that are cheap in comparison to the monsters you'll face.
They then lead you to the edge of the forest. The farther you stray from the shrine the more dull the place becomes. You realize a few minutes later you have yet to see or sense one of those beings in your presence.
"Where are your familiars of the shrine?".
You finally ask your guide. Unaware of the reaction you are going to stir up within her. Her lips quickly are drawn in a sharp thin line. And she tightly clenches her hands (as if fighting against the urge to strike). But what you see the most is that her eyes have seen hell. An anger that only the wronged can feel so vividly.
Oh, you realize stupidly. The last bit of the puzzle finally put into place. You try keeping your mouth shut from that point forward.
Having to deal with the lower level demons often has made you forget what it's like for most who live in holy places like this.
Underneath the title of familiar there is still a demon after all. This does not erase the fact that their sins and misdeeds were still committed. Nor did it mean that all who belonged to a shrine stopped their schemes. You can think of many worse fates they can commit that have nothing to do with death.
That's the only reason you can come to be thankful for having never been able to reach your full potential with nen. Freedom never could come in such a gilded cage as this.
Before you can leave the company of the underling, they insist that you leave this place before the end of the week. Before the shrines familiars return that is. The suggestion nearly makes you scoff. You didn't need to be warned of the danger that was a foot in this place.
The whole forest feels dead, like the rush of the river could easily carry it all away.
If the shrine maiden ever stepped foot outside then perhaps it would have been better cared for- not on the verge of death like her supposed god.
You push those thoughts away.
It's not wise to speak any disrespect of the protectors of a shrine. Even if the god they serve is a useless one trapped in an eternal slumber. You'd likely get your tongue cut off if any had found out. And you are more than a little superstitious and make it a point to think nothing more of that topic.
You set up a fire, both to keep yourself warm and not be at the complete mercy of the fox in the dark. And after you are done placing a good amount of traps and talisman, you wait.
Apples you stole on the way here will be your dinner for the evening if you make it that far without dying- The red fox was one of the nastier spirits scurrying from place to place. You have been hearing tales of it since the last harvest.
But as it is your job you have no choice but to face it with a hunter's determination.
The hours slowly pass by, it becomes more obvious that there is no fox here. The moon is high in the sky and if it were here surely it would have tried ‘playing’ with you by now.
All the better for you that it's long gone now. You've faced countless naga, oni and other yokai. So by no means we're you an amateur. Kitsunes still never were an easy creature to track, their transformations making it near impossible.
No
One of your talisman must have caught something, the chimes ringing a sweet melody that none would suspect could take hold of even the most feral demons.
What you find for better or worse caught within your trap is not a kitsune. Instead it's just a tengu, a terribly wounded one at that. You'll have to help it out soon before it begins to cry and alert the other monsters in the forest to you. You're honestly surprised it managed to keep quiet this long without crying out.
You falter for a moment upon taking a closer look at the demon before you. Because even if it is only a mountain tengu it's the largest one you've ever seen.
You know to expect wild eyes in situations like this but there is absolutely no distress in its eyes.
You've heard that the calm ones are what you must look out for. It worries you. But perhaps you were losing your touch as a hunter if a simple tengu was striking this much worry.
"Stay still".
You command the creature, which is still practically vibrating in stillness. Likely angry at you for placing the trap there in the first place.
You can't blame the tengu. For such a peaceful creature was easily startled. If a human did that to you would likely try biting them, the thought does little to help you calm down.
Especially after you look down and note that their talons could make your flesh into mere ribbons.
It's feathers are raised, if you don't hurry up it will be attempting to gain its freedom from the trap in a less peaceful manner.
But you are willing to correct your mistakes at any cost. Doing so makes the wires of the trap dig into your skin just as deeply.
You try to be quick about it, never pulling or allowing the wires to come into contact with the tengu’s precious feathers again.
A handful of them beneath your feet on the forest floor. All of them a dull gray that have lost their luster.Thankfully it seems the lost feathers were already loose from molting and not due to your trap.
You are nearly done undoing the wires, when you
The new feathers you can't help but to gently run the tips of your fingers over are all a deep plum shade. Dark enough to hide the blood soaking them. You think they are one of the most beautiful things you have seen in a very long time.
You are left alone the moment the tengu is free of the wire. But you have a feeling it will be coming back your way sooner than later. And when it comes to your hunches you are rarely ever wrong.
-
Beyond midnight you begin wondering if the said fox was ever really trying to attack the shrine in the first place. The damage dealt to the forest was nothing that a kitsune was capable of, powerful or not. No this forest has been marked by many gods- and to cause harm like this could only be done by another godly being.
Regardless of the matter, too much remained unexplained. You'll leave this place come morning
As you had assumed the tengu has returned to you in a more stable form. This time he has taken the form of a man, a very large one to match his true form. Simple robes cover him and
"I didn't think you would come back so soon".
You say, sharpening one of your knives.
He doesn't make a point to answer you right away. Just continuing to stare at you as if engrossed by the task you are doing.
Which you can't find off in the slightest, given the fact tengu's normally act this way.
Most usually kept to themselves worshiping their own gods far away from humans. Especially women who they viewed as the downfall of man. Evidently the tengu in front of you shares a difference in opinion towards at least one of those thoughts.
He eventually sits down beside the fire directly across from you. The flames making the stitches and jewelry he wears shine a bit against the shadows.
You belatedly come to the conclusion that unless you want this awkward air to continue on you should apologize for your trap.
"I'm sorry about the trap, a fox is about and I wasn't willing to take any chances".
You gain no response. Which doesn't really surprise you.
The fact he hasn't said or tried to do anything shows he isn't interested in anything besides your fire.
But wishing for the silence to be filled you start trying to make idle conversation.
"Will you be flying back soon?".
The moon is high, and surely they have to return back to their mountain less they wish to face exile.
Tengu's rarely had a chance to explore the world beyond their mountains. You wonder if the one before you prefers to travel or is a homebody.
"No, not tonight".
He says after a moment, and it's then you come to realize his voice is the softest thing about him.
You suppose the weather is far too cold for flying tonight anyway. The injuries made on his wings probably don't help with his travels either. Guilt doesn't keep hunters alive very long in this world but it still comes to you quicker than you should.
Medicine is expensive, what little you have is meant only for the most dire of situations.
But you've also heard crows can hold lifelong grudges. Though you are quite aware that the tengu in front of you does not resemble an average crow.
So you toss what you have his way, to which he surprisingly declines. But with the stitches and piercings you suppose that he must have a good tolerance for pain.
"Have you been hunting this kitsune for a while now?". He asks, as if finally thinking of a question to ask you. You fight the urge to smile just yet.
"No, the shrine hired me today to take care of it".
He doesn't look surprised at all when you mention that.
"That's odd". He admits, likely already aware of what you had thought of. He turns his back for only a moment and the homebrewed sake in his hand appears from nowhere. Such a sneaky tengu that has found you. Laughing before taking the drink offered to you. A blend that reminds you of spring, surprisingly. It loosens your spirits in a way you have not felt in a terribly long time.
"Given what I have heard, their familiars all ran off for a short while. Likely to that festival several districts over".
It makes him grow a bit agitated to hear that, you think. Which makes sense. When familiars left their temples it didn't just cause humans trouble. If he were left to the mercy of that kitsune alone you would hate to think of what would become of your newfound drinking partner.
"So they tried hiring you, out of fear most likely. Just to have you sent away moments before their familiars return like a lord's mistress?".
When he puts it like that you have no chance of denying it.
"Exactly like a hidden mistress".
You say, laughing and accepting the next shot of sake.
"I think it's likely because I was not taught properly".
You tell him not willing to say anything more on the topic. Thankfully he doesn't pry.
You begin to really look at your companion, the alcohol lowering a bit of your previous inhibitions.
The necklace he wears is a blood red jewel directly in the center of it. Surrounded by other sorts of rocks and quartz you do not recognize.
"Are you a priest?".
You question noting the marks upon his hands, no doubt caused by lightning.
If he told you, yes you may have likely seen through this entire facade. Priests would never dare adorn such jewelry, or modify their own bodies in such a way.
"Once".
He tells you instead, before his gaze is directly entirely to you.
"Is there a name I may call you by?". He asks.
There's power that came with knowing names, you didn't think anything more of it. Besides, the fact it was a clear sign of good trust. You give him your own as well.
You think there's something you were going to get, maybe a blanket because of the chill that comes from the northern wind.
Unfortunately, you are more drunk than you had thought. Stumbling a bit in and not really sure how to take your next step without falling to the earth.
Franklin, whose eyes have not left you in a very long time, notices this of course .
“You are going to fall over if you don't sit down".
He tells you, guiding you to his side with steady hands.
Tengu, you think, must be soft lovers given their fragile constitutions. Despite the size of your soon to be lover you doubt he has enough bite to hurt even a spider.
It'll be fun to throw your worries elsewhere for a short while.
Things become heated after that. One of you leans in close to the other, you aren't really sure who does so first.
Your thoughts soon are a mess. As you are too engulfed by the pleasure and heat to think of anything else. And you continue to cry out his name, again and again.
It ends with Franklin resting his face in the crook of your neck. Exactly like a besotted lover would. You melt at the mere thought alone.
You've fallen into the daydream a thousand times, but never quite like this. It is so easy to imagine, a shrine that the sun shines upon every day.
If you were trained all it would take was a kiss to make this demon a familiar of your own. Whether he was willing to comply or not. If you were lucky enough you think that just maybe he would accept his place by your side.
In a few hours dawn will come and the two of you will be forced to follow separate paths. You try to enjoy what little time you have left. Not knowing when you will find yourself in a situation such as this again. But it's hard to do that with your dry throat.
As if sensing your exact thoughts Franklin comes back with water and peaches of all things. He brings the fruit to your lips, making sure you eat everything he offers you.
The shared silence that follows is comfortable and you say nothing more. Unwilling to ruin this rare and nearly perfect moment.
You're almost on the verge of falling asleep when the quiet giant speaks again.
"I think it's best if you return with me to the mountains".
Seeing how you've done the most of the talking tonight- it's surprising to hear him be so direct is a bit odd.
The offer is so sweet, alas it's still one you know you could never accept. The thought erases any tiredness you previously felt.
You have grown too comfortable with this man- no this demon and while it wasn't your first time. It was the first time you've felt so
“You would never get away with bringing a human to the temple”. You reason, knowing likely you would both die if he really did bring you back to the mountain temple. His own gods would likely strike down thunder as well if they knew he had lain with a hunter.
And that's if the other tengu didn't manage to end you first.
"I'll have to go soon". You murmur, trying to pull away. Ready to leave quickly as if that factor will make this any easier.
His grip on you does not lessen in the slightest. But his eyes are cold now.
“Franklin…”
You begin losing all hope that he is going to let you go quite that easily.
First you hit him, striking his face and neck- normal man or demons weak points of it were anyone else.
Only his necklace breaks in your attempt. All the jewels and beads flying everywhere. Unsure what else to do with your strikes having no effect on him , you look at his face.
Only to be met with pure cursed energy.
The stitches across his face now make terribly perfect sense. Just like the forest decay, it's just under the surface. Without the necklace his aura is now unmistakable.
"If you had been trained you would have been able to sense my intent from the start. Even with my talisman".
He tells you, his hands around your neck holding you down as if you are nothing more than a weak cattle.
"I had no intention of letting you live, when I first found you”.
It's only when he says that do you finally feel pure fear for your life.
He speaks in the exact same tone as he had all night. It makes you feel dirty now- having lain with him not even an hour ago.
"And what made you decide to not do that?".
You ask fear creeping into your voice despite your best intentions.Your knives are only a few feet away- even if you did have them you'd still likely die. How could you not have seen all the signs? The obvious intent he held since the moment you released him from the trap.
"There is no one left in the mountains". He begins to explain holding you closely this time you find no comfort from the sign of affection.
The picture he paints is a bloody vivid one, you almost can hear the screams as one of their own flock annihilates them.
“I don't understand”. You cry, still clinging to denial.
He gives you a considerate once over look, one that you wish more than anything would disappear.
"When you are a proper thing then we will be wed".
He says it like it's a good thing, like he's going to make you the luckiest person in the entire world. You can't really breathe after that, nearly hyperventilating until you are able to gain control of your thoughts again.
He speaks of other things too. None of which you are able to pay attention to.
Your thoughts only of how you can bide your time, an opening would present itself soon. Unaware of what is going to happen to you a mere moment later.
While a nen user could bind a demon with a kiss, all a demon needs to do to lay a claim of their own is bite. And despite not having fangs his bite still burns right through you. For a moment your vision is completely black and in a moment of complete weakness you grab a hold of Franklin's wings for support. This time he doesn't smack your hand away. Your cries are the only source of sound besides the nearly dead embers at the fire. Franklin holds you close to himself, as if he's trying to protect you.
His feathers are soft to the touch still. Even if it is your blood that is covering them this time. You aren't sure how long you stay like that. Weeping as he holds on to you unwilling to let you go.
But by now he knows drugs in your system are finally taking their toll, you can barely move your fingertips now.
Feeling you still trying to move, Franklin pats your head as if trying to help you fall into an easy slumber. Despite your best efforts you eventually succumb to just that. Dawn comes quickly after.

Recently i’ve found myself with the idea of aya shameimaru having a husband but she never talks about him because otherwise it would devolve into a 40 hours rant about why she loves him so much; and then during an incident where she has to cooperate with Reimu whenever the picture of her husband falls out of whatever pocket Aya puts it in, Reimu picks up the picture and is like “hahaha who’s this dude” and Aya’s like “that’s my husband” and Reimu’s entire life is obliterated as she looks at the tengu girl who is so needlessly annoying and pushy it would kill someone and saying to herself “she is married?”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the moon with the last update bringing the return of all these patterns that haven’t been available since I started playing in the fall.
Before the last update, I was scrounging for things to work on with the stamina in excess of my daily free grind on Grice... Achievement crunching to see which chapter suits I hadn’t finished yet, filling out my wardrobe a little better... But many of the suits I haven’t made yet, I haven’t because they simply weren’t all that appealing to me.
There’s just so much good content that I don’t know where to start...! The suit with the spray paint cans has been a dream suit for a while, as has the one with the crazy triangle zippers... but... the ice cream street vendor........ I made Street Standard, but beyond that and buying all the gold-only suits in the shop... I’m back to having so many things I can be working on right now. And it’s great.

Well i may be in earth but i have like multiple clans with their own tabs but they have their own exports. Most are a WIP currently but wanderers rest is the main one for my own lore!
Wanderers Rest is actually a big hub market city where Wind Water and Fire meet! Theres all sorts of exports revolving around seafood, dried tea blends, metalworks and the like. Theres other items that are much more specific like Lathyrus the spiral’s Seaberry wine. Its a favourite of the cityfolk and is one of the featured drinks at Scylla’s Tipsy Tengu Tavern and Inn! Pekoe in the wind district brews his expertly blended teas at his little teashop and will distribute them sornieth wide for those with a refined palette. His friend Laurelis, a dryad, helps tend to the bushes themselves to assure the highest quality teas.
Sangria and her wife Ginny from the fire district make fine decorative swords and other weapons for those who wish to add a little flare to their blades. Sangria herself is a master at creating delicate and intricate jewelry pieces to sell in the city centres trading hub.
Wanderers Rest is also well known to be the home of Shramp, the author of the hatchling book series Troupe Tyrants; a xenofiction series about the epic highs and lows and drama of her shrimp colonies and their fight against the evil Baron Von Scampi.
Could you all tell me your Flight and the main export of your clan? (Exports are goods and services that are produced in one country and sold to buyers in another.)
I have had a terrible, no-good day to a terrible no-good year. I need something to keep my mind off things. Maybe some lore tidbits from other clans may help?
