The characters won't really get to this information in the story since it would require a lot of research they can't do right now, so this is a little treat for everyone reading :3 The universes are not connected through the game, not literally. The Undertale game is basically the version of monsters that exist in the universe the human is from (kinda our universe~). But in other universes the monsters are real, not characters in a game but real living beings. Do all AU's exist in the multiverse? Maaaaybe? Who can know? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There may even be a universe where only monsters exist as living beings and humans are just characters in a game? :3))
