mostly it stemmed from having to bear witness to a lot of injustice in his formative years and not having the means to do anything about it. once he got the means (training and tempus's blessing and growing up to be a brick wall) he took it upon himself to even the playing field, to be a deterrent against ~evil~ either by his actions or by his presence alone. to pull good people up and knock bad people down. as hard as possible. preferably so they wouldn't get back up again.

he doesn't enjoy exacting revenge, but he does find a kind of peace in the aftermath. that brief moment of cleaning the blood off his sword when the world feels slightly better because someone awful is gone from it.

rare are the people he swears personal oaths against but that's probably for the best. for everyone.

I’m not exactly a planner so my ideas are vague, influenced by scifi books and things I’ve read on psychic powers and a bit of the general vibe of being drift compatible (never actually watched pacific rim but I have a vague concept of it’s well…. concept) and I’ve read some sentinel au fics that kind of joined in with my thoughts.

My vague world building looks like this - under a cut cos it hit longish

In a typical world like ours most people are Nulls - people born without a gift/talent. I decided on valling it a Varience. So these people are born with a psychic talent, types of that would include

Empaths- EM - feeling others feelings

Telepaths- ‘paths - hearing thoughts (personally I think that would be a terrible ‘talent’)

Telekinetics- ‘Ks - move things with their mind

Locus - people who can find things/people if given an object that’s connected to them

Precognitives - Cogs - able to see the future to a certain degree

Tempus - see the history or past of an object

All are born with a mark on them - the mark is often in a specific place somewhere

Paths/Cogs on the face/head/neck

EMs upper body/neck/head

Ks arms or hands upper back/neck

Tempus upper/lower back

Graded from 1 - 10 depending on strength of variant. 10 being the strongest.

Eyes change colour when using

Paths/EMs - purple

Cogs - white

Ks - yellow

Tempus - orange

Locus - green

Varience is dormant until activated by Alvisium most people can’t activate till adulthood and most choose to wait longer by taking blockers- kinda like a psychic contraceptive. That’s the injection Buck gets monthly.

Once activated Variants, especially the mind powers usually take a mate known as a Static to bond with who helps them control their power.

The general population get tested around 16/17 to see if they’re Static. The test makes a silver/grey mark appear on the skin somewhere. Static have almost a negative psychic power that fills and mutes the varients own abilities

Daniel was born and for unknown reasons activated early. It started slow for him and no one noticed for a while, when they did it was too late to do anything. He was too young for the regular blockers but the doctors theorized a personalized blocker made from a siblings blood might help slow things down as d Buck was conceived. It didn’t work.

Daniel’s telepathy grew stronger and unable to stop it or find a bond his telepathy caused his mind to overload and he eventually died from it.

Her grief then caused Margret to loose control of her own powers and she burnt out her varient. This made the Buckleys put Buck in the blockers early and they gave him the very strong impression he should never chose to activate.

The bonding is forged by the combination of the activation powder the additional catalyst taken during the ritual and the changes in the body brought on by orgasam.

So, viewed through an FNC lens, where do Riku, Kairi and Sora lie?

Sora very much seems like Agito to me. I wrote about this in my big theory doc, but I'll give you the rundown if you haven't seen that.

Agito is the legendary hero who's supposed to save the world from meeting its end when Tempus Finis happens. In Type-0, everyone talks about Agito, but they aren't sure if they're even real. In the Agito mobile game, the player character appears to be an anomaly who appeared unexpectedly in the timeline. Arecia had attempted to artificially create her own Agito by gathering together children who possessed the qualities/powers that she believed were necessary for Agito, but her experiment always ended in failure. Meanwhile, the real Agito's power is the Power of Bonds. As the player, you would do bonding events with each of Arecia's chosen ones. If the game hadn't been cancelled, I assume that you would have eventually formed connections with them in the same way that Sora connects himself with his friends, and then those connections are what would have somehow enabled you to save the world and finally create a happy timeline.

Agito's power is sort of useless by itself, but it seems like it would have found its true purpose when combined with the powers of the others. idk, I think that's kinda touching. Team effort.

Obviously, I don't think that Sora was designed to BE Agito. I just think that Nomura probably noticed the similarity and saw his opportunity to make the connection. Especially when you consider the fact that the bonding symbol is the Kingdom Hearts heart symbol, I think that somebody was definitely thinking about it.

It seems like Riku has something going on with Yozora based on their resemblance, but... I don't know what that's about.

At the moment, I feel like Riku and Kairi are just Riku and Kairi. lol They'll definitely take part in whatever happens next, but I haven't seen anything that's made me think that they've been baked into the metaphor like some other characters have been. If anything, Riku has always reminded me of Ignis (They even have the same Japanese VA!), and there are similarities to be found between Sora and Noctis, but... The whole thing with Riku's resemblance to Yozora makes me doubt that those similarities have any relevance in the future narrative. I mean, unless it turns out that Yozora actually DOES originally look like Sora. Rex seemed to think so, at least. In which case, we'll just put a pin in all that.
