It’s #throwbackthursday to a a month ago, when we had a lovely evening at @jinyaramenbar nursing the biggest bowl of ramen I’ve had to date - the spicy goodness of the Premium Tonkotsu Red - which they recommended I try at spice-level 7 (out of 10), and which I had to punch-up with their house-made seeded chili oil and Jinya-branded Hollywood Hot Sauce (at which point, it was more to my liking). Next time, I’ll try spice-level at 9 or 10, even though our server said that only ‘crazy’ people would like that! She had the Wonton Chicken Ramen, which had no spice to speak of, and I believe might be an affront to the Ramen Gods. But before all that, I was convinced to try the Brussels Sprouts Tempura. I hate Brussels Sprouts, but tgere’s something to them being battered and deep fried, and they taste nothing like the bitter things one pushes to the side of their dinner plate - they’re surprisingly fantastic! And we chased it all with delicious Japanese whiskey, yuzu and passionfruit cocktails that I now forget the name of. And all was perfect!
