hasn’t even been mentioned in bpw it but the existence of sl/very in temeraire world still boggles my damn mind. if every country and nation in existence has had dragons forever and br*tains only figured it out after the romans you really expect me to believe ancient Africans wouldn’t have domesticated and had dragons to stop colonialism from happening. or is the narrative saying tht they did and were still weak against the crooked teeth whites anyway. what’s the purpose. also that moment when Laurence n temeraire met that Native American dragon sans Native rider made me livid. how bout less screen time for tom ugly ass riley in book 2 and have it be about the potential of rich cultures with literal DRAGONS in other civilizations. don’t think I don’t notice all the bad brown guys in book 3 too teehee (and book 2 yongxing that mysterious king. highkey rooting for miss Lien like go girl give us revenge!)

Hmm are the six letters he feels he owes to the captains of the rest of the formation? That would be interesting because it would imply he DOESN'T feel he owes letters to his parents

The situation isn't funny of course but I'm very much laughing that Laurence has been placed in another Situation of Britain vs Morality when he's still being punished for picking Morality last time.....

I'm fascinated by the decision not to have Laurence's POV of this scene, only going back to him once it's over. He's making almost the precise decision that he spend the first part of the book desperately trying to avoid being forced to make! I wanna see him realizing that he's gonna do this! It kind of seems like it represents a turning point for his character!

But at the same time it feels very deliberate that we don't see it. Temeraire, as much as he clearly loves Laurence, is NOT great at figuring out what's going on in his head! It's a DECISION that this happens in his POV, it just has me rattling the bars like Laurence let me innnnnnn
