Investing in Your Smile: Understanding Teeth Cleaning Cost in Toronto
Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial for overall health, and one of the fundamental aspects of it is regular teeth cleaning. Not only does it keep your teeth and gums healthy, but it also contributes to your overall well-being. In Toronto, as in any other city, the cost of teeth cleaning is a consideration for many. Let's explore why investing in professional teeth cleaning is a wise decision and understand the associated costs.
The Benefits of Professional Teeth Cleaning
Preventing Dental Issues: Professional teeth cleaning helps prevent a myriad of dental problems, such as cavities and gum disease. Most of the professionals of Teeth cleaning costs in Toronto use specialized tools and techniques to remove plaque and tartar buildup that regular brushing and flossing may miss. By investing in professional cleaning, you are taking a proactive approach to avoid more significant dental issues down the road.
Maintaining Fresh Breath: Persistent bad breath can be a result of poor oral hygiene. Regular teeth cleaning eliminates bacteria that cause bad breath, leaving your mouth feeling fresh and your confidence restored. When you consider the social and professional advantages of fresh breath, the cost of teeth cleaning becomes a small investment for a significant return.
Understanding Teeth Cleaning Costs in Toronto
Varied Pricing Structure: The cost of teeth cleaning in Toronto can vary based on several factors, including the dental clinic's location, reputation, and the specific services included in the cleaning package. Typically, basic cleaning may cost less than a more comprehensive treatment that includes additional services such as fluoride treatment or deep cleaning.
Insurance Coverage: Teeth cleaning costs in Toronto play a crucial role in mitigating the out-of-pocket expenses for teeth cleaning. It's essential to understand your insurance coverage, as many plans cover preventive services like teeth cleaning. Contact your insurance provider or the dental clinic to confirm coverage and minimize your financial burden.
Comparing Costs vs. Long-Term Benefits: While the upfront cost of teeth cleaning in Toronto might seem like an expense, it's essential to view it as an investment in your oral health. Consider the potential costs of treating dental issues that could arise without regular cleaning. Prevention is often more cost-effective than treatment, making professional teeth cleaning a wise financial decision in the long run.
Finding Affordable Teeth Cleaning Options
Community Dental Clinics: Many communities in Toronto have dental clinics that offer affordable or even free dental services. These clinics are often run by charitable organizations or dental schools, providing quality care at a lower cost. Research local options to find a clinic that fits your budget.
Discount Plans and Membership Programs: Some Teeth cleaning costs in Toronto offer discount plans or membership programs that can significantly reduce the cost of teeth cleaning. These plans often include regular cleanings and discounts on other dental services, making oral care more accessible.

more update. just went through the longest three days of my whole life. click to read my tale of woe.
sept 10: had to go get my visa medical exam done (which ate 500 of my savings up... boohoo...) and it was such a long and evil journey into toronto to go get that done (i live in a city an hour outside) because my dad's car is being weird right now so i had to take trains there... and then when i got there they informed me that i was missing blood work (it was done, but i didn't have the actual proof of it. so i needed to ask the doctor who did my blood work to email me that.) so i almost started crying until they said i could still get the rest of the exam done that day and just email them the blood work proof later. Like legit immediately tearing up. i'm not built for these sorts of tasks i think. anyway that meant that i couldn't even ride home with a peace of mind knowing that that's done because it wasnt. i needed that blood work proof.
sept 11: i called the walk in clinic who initially did my blood work to ask if i could get it emailed to me so i could then email it to the visa medical people, and no one answered at all. ever. so i just got up and walked to the clinic. and when i entered the building there was a huge sign on the clinic's door that said they moved and the clinic no longer operates. again, started immediately tearing up because i can't handle anything. anyway i went on a wild goose chase that ended in me calling the doctor who issued the blood test personally and asking if anyone even still had my records and she said that public health did, but i needed to schedule a telehealth appointment to ask a doctor for it. my online appointment would be in the afternoon of the next day which was stressful becauuuuse
sept 12: in the morning of this day i had to go for an oral diagnostic to find out how much it was gonna cost to fix my painful rotting bulimia teeth. i didn't want to go on the train again and my dad was still eager to drive despite his car's condition so i said fuck it because my dentist appointment could be rescheduled if the car broke down on the highway, unlike my visa medical exam where i had to be there. so we went to toronto in our shitty car and i got poked and prodded by a dental student (i have to get my work done by students because it's the lowest cost dental work available to me) and he then informed me that i would need two cleanings which would cost $208 together, and then it would be $130 per tooth filled. and i have very very many cavities. so i think my stuff would be around $1500 to fix which is by all means a bargain but i started freaking the fuck out in the car on the way home because i still don't even have that. like YES it could have been $5000-$10000. but i still don't have $1500. so um. god. yeah. actually i'm still kind of freaking out about that. lol anyway
sept 12 pt 2: we got home just in time for my telehealth appointment and they gave me my blood work proof immediately and easily and i was very relieved and then i emailed it to the visa medical people like they told me to. and it's been very many daylight work hours and no one has responded to me so now i'm filled with an insane dread that there's still something wrong and missing and i can't stop freaking out and crying because i need just one thing to go smoothly just one please just one damn thing. oh ym god please. PLEASEE
sept 13: now we're at today where i am covered in exposed nerves and irritable and scared because i cannot stop thinking about how i need 1500 bucks and also an email back from the visa people who have my whole life in their hands right now. i am doing my commissions because i need to take more because i need that money. i put up a ko-fi goal for an amount a little less than $1500 because that's more of a broad estimate, but i can't be asked to spread my ko-fi link around again so close to when i already e-begged. i feel bad. there's people dying and i'm begging for help to get my tooth hurty fixed. it feels bad. but the goal is there and my commissions are open and if anyone wants to smile at me they can. if anyone has and ideas on how to spead it without me actually spreading it because i just don't have the moxie rn that would be nice too.

The Role of Preventive Dentistry in Maintaining Oral Health
Tumblr media
Preventive dentistry plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health, helping to prevent dental problems before they become severe and ensuring a lifetime of healthy smiles. At Arlington Dental in Toronto, we emphasize the importance of preventive care as the foundation of our dental practice. This approach not only safeguards your teeth and gums but also contributes to your overall health and well-being. Let's explore the significance of preventive dentistry and how it can benefit you.
Understanding Preventive Dentistry
Preventive dentistry focuses on routine care and maintenance to avoid dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and more. The philosophy behind preventive dentistry is straightforward: it's easier and more cost-effective to prevent dental problems than to treat them once they arise. Regular check-ups, cleanings, and other preventive measures can save patients from more extensive and expensive treatments in the future.
Key Components of Preventive Dentistry
Regular Dental Check-ups: Routine dental exams are essential for detecting issues early. At Arlington Dental, we recommend bi-annual check-ups to monitor your oral health. During these visits, our dental professionals can identify early signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues that might not be noticeable to you.
Professional Teeth Cleanings: Even with diligent brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar can build up on your teeth over time. Professional cleanings remove these deposits, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Our hygienists use specialized tools to clean hard-to-reach areas, ensuring your teeth and gums stay healthy.
Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride is a mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent decay. Fluoride treatments are especially beneficial for children but can also help adults with a history of cavities. Arlington Dental offers fluoride treatments as part of our preventive care services to help fortify your teeth against decay.
Dental Sealants: Sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) to prevent cavities. This treatment is particularly effective for children but can benefit adults as well. Sealants provide an extra layer of defense against food particles and bacteria that can cause decay.
Oral Hygiene Education: Proper brushing and flossing techniques are vital for maintaining oral health. Our team at Arlington Dental provides personalized oral hygiene education to ensure you are using the right methods and products to care for your teeth and gums at home.
Benefits of Preventive Dentistry
Early Detection of Problems: Regular dental visits allow us to catch issues like cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer in their early stages. Early detection often means simpler, less invasive treatments and better outcomes.
Cost Savings: Preventive care helps you avoid expensive and extensive dental treatments. Filling a small cavity is far less costly than treating a root canal or extracting a tooth.
Enhanced Overall Health: Oral health is closely linked to overall health. Poor oral hygiene can lead to systemic issues such as heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections. By maintaining good oral health, you contribute to your overall well-being.
Preservation of Natural Teeth: Preventive dentistry helps you keep your natural teeth for as long as possible. Maintaining your natural teeth is important for proper chewing, speech, and overall comfort.
Improved Quality of Life: Healthy teeth and gums contribute to a better quality of life. You can eat your favorite foods, speak clearly, and smile confidently without worrying about dental issues.

Because Two People Got Drunk: 3
Series Masterlist
A/N: A little bit of a filler, next chapter it picks up! It switches from Fred’s POV to yours. Going forward it should be your POV, except for one chapter down the line ;)
Summary: Fred grapples with becoming a dad. You and him meet for the first time since that night from February.
Warning: Swearing
Word Count: 994
April 29, 2021 Fred’s POV
You sit there with Auston. Those two words hanging in the air, Felix resting with his head on your leg. Silence.”
After a couple minutes you get up and run to the bathroom, emptying your stomach contents. You stay there for a few minutes before brushing your teeth. You return to the couch and sit down drinking the water Auston got you while you were gone.
“Fuck” is all you get out. “If I’m being honest I thought this was going to happen, I believed her when I was told it was mine. Yet I’m still surprised to hear the results. It’s weird.”
“What are you going to do? Have you given it any thought?”
“All I have done is give it thought. I haven’t stopped since I found out” you respond. “I guess I have to message her. Be a dad.” You pause gathering your thoughts. “I have no idea how this will work, but I can’t not be involved. I can’t go on in my life as if I don’t have a kid.”
April 30, 2021 - Your POV
You entered the coffee shop and don’t see him so you order and find a seat. A couple minutes later he wanders in and finds you, saying he is going to get a coffee then come join you. As he sits down you notice how his tight t-shirt is showing off his biceps. You had forgotten how defined he was, how his brown eyes had made you melt.
“How have you been feeling, you’re what 9 weeks" he says in a hushed tone. You can barely hear him over the other customers and ask him to repeat himself. The second time you barely make it out again. “I live like 2 blocks from here, want to go there? More private and quiet…”
“Uh, sure.” You say slightly confused but getting up and following him. A few minutes later you enter a 2 bedroom condo on the 38th floor. It easily costs 3 times your monthly rent but is nice and bright, open. You notice how clean it is. “Sorry” he chimes in “I didn’t want someone hearing. The media would have a field day with this.”
 “What?” you question.
“If a fan heard and posted a tweet or something the Toronto media would love it. Starting goalie gets random girl pregnant after drunk hook-up. I can see the front page of the Sun now.”
You continue to stare at him, dumbfounded for a few minutes. Finally saying “you play on the team? You told me you worked for MLSE. I mean I guess that’s not a complete lie.”
“Oh right. You said you grew up here and had been to some games. Then when I left your place I saw a jersey and picture of you at the Centennial classic. I honestly thought you knew who I was but was being polite.”
“I uh, I didn’t put it together.” Silence falls over the room. Frederik finally breaking the silence. “So you’re about 9 weeks?"
 “Yeah about that.”
“Right. How are you feeling? Any sickness?”
“There wasn’t any at first, but the last 3 weeks I have had some morning sickness for sure. All day long, it’s brutal. I have a doctor appointment in 2 weeks so I’m going to see if there is anything I can get or do to help with it if it’s still bad.”
 “A doctor’s appointment?”
“Yeah on the 12th, I had one a couple weeks ago but couldn’t see much on the ultrasound since it was so early. Should be able to see more, maybe even hear a heartbeat.”
 “I see.”
“You are welcome to come to it and any appointment really. It’s your baby too.” You pull an appointment card from your purse and set it on the coffee table.
“Yeah if I’m free I’ll come.” Silence falls as you sip your coffee.
“So…” he starts “I thought you were on birth control. Like if you weren’t, you shouldn’t have said you were.”
“I am. Or I was until I found out I was pregnant. I’d been on the pill for a couple years. I was really stressed with work and forgot to take a day and was a few hours late with another."  He doesn’t respond. “I used sometimes to miss a day or two when I was with my ex and never got pregnant. We were together almost 3 years and I probably screwed up taking it 6 or 7 times during our relationship and nothing happened. So I honestly didn’t think much of it. I honestly didn’t even know I missed some until I was late.”
“Right. Still seems awful convenient this happens when you are with a professional athlete.”
“I didn’t recognize you!” you retort.
“I honestly think you did recognize me but are pretending “
“You can’t be serious!” you shout. “I gave you the option to not use one. I didn’t force you to not use one. You could have said no and walked away at that point. Besides you pulled out, but ironically your reflexes are shit given what you do every day.” You scoff. “Look I don’t need your help. I have money and can raise this child on my own. I don’t need you. I only contacted you for this baby’s sake.
If I didn’t I know that in the future this child would ask about you. Who you were, why you weren’t around. I didn’t want that to be because I never told you about this. I don’t want to be the reason my child’s father isn’t around, that decision is yours to make. If I didn’t tell you my child may not forgive me for that. But now I’ve told you, I’ve done what I need to” you rise to your feet “choice is yours" you state reaching for the handle and you let yourself out not waiting to see if he has a response. You slam the door behind you.

All About Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Tumblr media
Some people don’t have to deal with having their wisdom teeth removed, because they never developed in the first place. But for the unlucky majority that have grown their wisdom teeth to some degree, they’ll have to go through one, or multiple, wisdom tooth extractions. As it can take years to even breach the surface of the gums, it’s not high on most peoples to do list. However, if your wisdom teeth are wreaking havoc on your mouth, then this guide will walk you through what to expect from your future wisdom tooth extraction.
It all Starts with a Dental Exam
You don’t have to be in pain for your wisdom teeth to be removed. Often times an x-ray showing how their growth is impacting the rest of your teeth is enough for your dentist to recommend an extraction sooner rather than later. The longer an impacted tooth stays in your mouth, the more it shifts the alignment of the rest of your teeth.
The Procedure Won’t Hurt…
The severity, depth and location of your wisdom teeth will determine whether or not you’ll be fully sedated or have local anesthesia as your numbing agent. With any kind of anesthesia, however, you’ll likely be asked to avoid eating and drinking beforehand. Special tools will be used to shift and dislodge your wisdom teeth, sometimes splitting it into smaller pieces for an easier removal process.
But the Recovery Sure Can
It’s common to feel groggy after surgery, depending on the volume of sedatives used on you. You’ll need to have someone drive you home and take care of you until the medication wears off. It’s normal to experience swelling and pain for days after an extraction, which is why pain medication is often prescribed.
Try to Avoid Dry Socket
For two weeks after you’ve had your wisdom teeth removed, avoid using a straw at all costs. The suction from using a straw can result in dry socket, and that’s not something you want to deal with. This incredibly painful condition stems from the clot that’s sitting above the extraction site being dislodged, exposing both the bare nerves and bone beneath. Cleaning your mouth too soon after surgery can also cause dry socket. To treat it, a medicated paste is inserted into the socket to promote healing. As a common side effect of wisdom tooth extraction, it may be unavoidable.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction Tips
Make sure you visit a dentist who performswisdom tooth extraction on a regular basis. If your dentist only does a few every month or so, as them to refer you to an oral surgeon to ensure a smooth procedure and recovery.
Have you been avoiding this procedure for years? Then make an appointment immediately, because the older you get, the more your teeth’s roots will form, making the extraction process more difficult, and possibly painful.
Are you looking to get your wisdom tooth extracted in the Toronto area? Then visit 123 Edward Street Dental, helping our Toronto patients with their dental care since 1965. With services that include general tooth cleaning, wisdom teeth removal, dental implant application, cosmetic dentistry and more, visit our website to book your next appointment.

Real Life Recess
Tumblr media
The idea of being mindful—or being present, being more conscious of life as it happens—may seem contradictory to those who are used to sacrificing living for pursuing their goals but cultivating mindfulness will help you achieve your goals and help you enjoy life more. In fact, you’re more productive when you’re mindful – and when your body is feeling less anxious it reduces stress and lowers blood pressure.  When you are mindful and able to live more in the moment you can hear negative feedback without feeling threatened, you are more aware and excepting of your weaknesses- which reduces the kinds of impulsivity and reactivity that is associated with depression, binge eating and attention problems, mindful people are happier, more exuberant, more empathetic and more secure which could also lead to more satisfying relationships with friends and family.
So, if being mindful and being present and more conscious of life in the moment can create a recipe for a more fulling life and - on paper seems like such an easy thing to do then why are there so many stressed out people out there who work more then they live for themselves or more importantly when was the last time you took a shower that didn’t feel rushed because you had something more important to do (like raising a child?)
How on earth do we become more mindful?
I remember growing up, every morning I would hear my mama’s alarm go off and I would hear her get out of bed and find her way to the kitchen where she would sit at the table quietly sipping on her freshly brewed coffee and after about half hour she would then shower and get ready for work, she did this every morning until I moved out and you would think that would have taught me some sort of structure but I am lucky if I even remember to set my alarm clock and 9 times out of 10 I am rolling out of bed at 20 after 8 rushing to get Colton to school on time (which we are getting better at).  I wish I was that person that could get up with sun but this girl is not a fan of early mornings and I don’t drink coffee so my mornings consist of running around like a crazy person, waking up a 7 year old, getting him dressed, making him breakfast – reminding him 17 times to brush his teeth, to put socks on all while trying to put together a healthy lunch (this is where I wish I had more then two hands) and when I finally feel like I have everything under control and his backpack packed and ready to go, I score the last 10 minutes to myself- just to put clean underwear on! Lol And up until about 6 months ago I had the mentality that being productive meant working 12 hour days and coming home to cook, clean and parent- I made zero time for myself and when I did I was more concerned with the work that would pile up in my absence. My days would start as chaotic as they ended – and I struggled to find time to even get the oil in my car changed within 3 months of the expected change date, but that was my normal and I had accepted that. I started working at 15 and I was managing my own retail store by 17. I went onto bigger and more amazing things throughout my 20’s to now and I have worked really hard to get where I am- but I believed that in order to be successful I needed to dedicate myself to work – at whatever cost (which I realize now was my own happiness)
Looking back now, I wonder what my mom was thinking about in that half hour of caffeinated bliss, was she planning the day ahead, what we were going to have for dinner, what bills were coming out that week or was she simply just enjoying 30 minutes of pure silence before her own chaotic day started?
I have started taking an hour to myself everyday (sometimes two) however I am not in need of that hour to plan my day or drink my coffee - I have learned that in my life, I can no longer plan ahead because… well… “shit just happens” and if you can’t learn to roll with the punches then the anxiety of not being prepared (for me at least) takes control - I have had to learn to let go of the “what ifs” (like “what if” I picked up that call- the not knowing drives me absolutely bonkers) but I’ve spent a lot of time reminding myself that life is full of what ifs and maybe we should spend more time taking risks and just accepting whatever happens, BUT anxiety is a bitch like that – doesn’t wait for the welcome mat to be rolled out before it pushes its way in.
So as my mama would say “why borrow trouble” – and, I find myself repeating this daily.
After I quit my job I got stuck in this routine of dropping Colton off at school, and going straight to the gym where I would stand and chat with the girls for about 20 minutes, workout for an hour (or dance) massage, chat with the girls (again) only to leave to come home to do the dishes, clean the house, feed the fish, do the laundry, pick up Colton, make dinner and so on, from there it was just on repeat- I became a “house hold CEO” I managed my house like I did my gym because I was so lost and the only thing I knew how to do was work – and at no time did I think to myself, “hmm, maybe I should stop and think about what I need for once”-
How terrible is that- one of the worst things I could be going through right now and I still couldn’t put myself first.
Eat. Sleep. Repeat.
But slowly things have started to change, I am no longer worried about having to go home to clean or cook or pick up Colton every day and so that leaves me with a few more hours to do things for myself and although my mornings stay fairly consistent, my day to day has really changed – I took a solo trip to Ikea, I walked around every room and just took in all the quiet- the drive was probably my favourite part- no where to be, and no 7 year old child yelling at me to put “loud night” on lol- and even though I have done that drive about a thousand times – everything seemed so fresh! But that is part of the problem, we simply cannot live in the moment, when we are at work we fantasize about being in warmer climates and when we are on vacation we worry about all the things we aren’t doing while we are being “lazy” on a beach somewhere, I still stressing out over things I know are not getting done at a job that isn’t even mine anymore -  we dwell on intrusive memories either from the past or things we may stress about for our futures.  We become mindless that we stop paying attention to the things around us that we should be taking the time to appreciate, we go about our morning routines in a haze because we’ve done it a thousand times and so we stop being mindful.
Here is what I do know and the only thing I can 100% plan for - my day is going to start at least 20 minutes late hectic from the second it starts and I am going to question if we will make it for the bell (still snap a quick selfie (late or not) because well, it’s me) and as we get there we will hear the first bell ring and he will start running towards door with his little back pack on which is half the size of him and I will casually stroll behind him because I know he is going to get half way there and run back for a quick kiss from mama (leaving him even more late, lol) and then within a few seconds he is gone I can tell you that chaos is my favourite part of the morning (HE is my favourite part of our mornings) - But the need to have a plan or at least have an idea of what to expect used to consume me at least 23/7 (yes, even when I am sleeping) and I would be lying if I said my anxiety didn’t get the best of me every time I found myself in new environments/situations without having a plan of being there – I can say I may not have this down pat yet, but something I am working on.
So finally, last week Andrea, Ankush and I went to Toronto to check out this place called HideSeek they call it an “immersive pop up experience inspired by childhood nostalgia” and let me tell you- its description meets the experience- from 90’s pop music to rooms full of beautiful childhood colors like pinks, whites and oranges I felt like a kid again (and going with Andrea and Ankush just made the experience that much better) Ankush, beside being just a really good friend is also an amazing photographer who was wonderful enough to take some photos of us while we explored this indoor adult playground-the rooms were all really interactive and we were the only people in there so we took our time and among 600 beautiful photos to show for it the three of us had a BLAST, I have not laughed so hard in years – and the moments he was able to capture on film are a serious reminder that being mindful and humble and appreciative for the moments we are in happens to be SO much more fulfilling then always planning the next step.
So, to answer the question above, how do you become more mindful? It’s simple really, you give yourself your own 30 minutes of caffeinated bliss - a “real life recess” – whatever works for you!

Wisdom Teeth Removal Toronto: Preventive Measures, Cost of Removal and Everything
Is it only the discomfort that comes with the last set of molars: wisdom teeth, while not making anyone wiser! However, while some people may be comfortably okay with the wisdom tooth, some may only realize the necessity to remove it when there is a problem.
Luckily, wisdom tooth removal in Toronto is affordable and accessible. The most common (yet, hard to cope) problem associated with wisdom teeth is if the tooth itself gets impacted. As a result, it can cause misalignment and affect the adjacent teeth' proximity. Apart from that, you may also experience any of the given signs.
Bad breath
Bleeding gums
Jaw pain
Cavities in the adjacent teeth
Difficulty in speaking and opening your mouth
So, it may not always be a convenient option to remove your wisdom tooth. Only if it's impacted, opt to remove it. Here, we discuss situations when you do not need to opt for wisdom teeth removal.
Usually, the third set of molars typically comes between teenage and young adulthood. By then, in most cases, the whole adult set is complete. And, undoubtedly, this is the reason to experience pain with the eruption of the extra teeth. So, if you fit in any one of the instances below, you do not require the need to remove the wisdom teeth.
Your wisdom teeth are healthy
Positioned in line with the adjacent teeth
It doesn't affect your bite
Wisdom teeth completely erupt
You are able to clean them while brushing or flossing
So, when the above conditions don't meet, you should get on to remove them!
Next, the most general question you may consider is its price. The wisdom teeth removal cost in Canada varies, depending on the complexity and impact on the tooth. Plus, there are different dental conditions which make can make it pricier.
In the most general case, you can expect to spend $160 to $500 while removing your wisdom tooth. The range typically defines the severity and complexity of the impacted tooth. Surgically, the cost primarily depends on the below three factors:
Do you want to remove a wisdom tooth or the complete set?
Position the wisdom teeth in the jaw determines the extent of surgical operation to get the wisdom teeth out.
Types of sedation your dentist will use in the tooth removal procedure
Indeed, to determine the last factor, you can choose to remain awake while your tooth is extracted. Or you can go with sedation or sleep dentistry, which comes with additional charges. For instance, in a rough approximate, the removal cost of up to 4 wisdom teeth will come to be $1800 under sedation.
Conclusion
Fortunately, wisdom tooth removal cost in Toronto is affordable and accessible with the right dentists at HealthOne. In addition, the dentists guide you rightly with valuable tips for Wisdom teeth removal recovery as post-operation care instructions.
So, get rid of the wisdom teeth discomfort. Book a dental appointment with us now!

Underestimating the Threat Flies Can Have on Damaging Your Business Reputation
Tumblr media
The majority of people eating in a restaurant would go back to eating their meal after a fly touched and contaminated it, but almost no one would touch their food after seeing a cockroach crawling on it. The same attitude seen in staff and managers in the food-processing industry (“It’s just a fly, wave it away”), and it cost their business.
When the authorities shut down a local restaurant or a food processing unit, it’s usually because of rodents or cockroaches – seldom is the “innocuous” fly the reason a restaurant goes out of business. And yet, according to entomologists, filth-breeding flies (a term referring to several species of true flies of the order Diptera, including the four subspecies of Musca domestica, the house fly) are at least twice as filthy as cockroaches.
Due to their abundance (uncontrolled, they would cover the whole planet 18 inches deep in just one season), their close association with people, and their ability to transmit disease, filth flies are considered a bigger threat to human welfare than most other household or commercial pests. Flies are known to transmit about one hundred animal and human pathogens, but emerging research shows they may be even more dangerous than we previously thought. Some of the most common diseases spread by flies include:
Dysentery
Diarrhea
Cholera
Typhoid fever
Food poisoning/gastroenteritis
Urogenital and intestinal infections
Conjunctivitis
Poliomyelitis
Tuberculosis
Diphtheria
Yaws
How Flies Contaminate Food?
In many cases, adults with a good immune system are able to fight off the disease agents in food contaminated by flies. However, children, elder citizens, and people whose immune system has compromised by illness or medication are far more exposed to the health hazards posed by pest flies.
In Canada, about 4 million people (1 in 8) are affected by food-borne diseases, which result in 11,600 hospitalizations and 238 deaths every year. These staggering numbers are even greater than those in the U.S., according to a food safety report published by the Conference Board of Canada, which also suggests that half or more of all food-borne diseases in the country are picked up at restaurants, cafeterias, and other food-service providers.
The pathogens carried by flies enter food through one of two ways:  (1) direct incorporation of the filth they carry on their bodies and (2) the contamination of food and food-contact surfaces by the microorganisms and metabolic products released by flies while feeding and defecating.
What Happens When Flies Land on Food?
Tumblr media
Understanding the ecology of flies helps to explain their role as vectors of disease and allows an efficient selection of control measures. Flies breed, feed, and wallow around in decayed, fermenting, or rotting organic material of either animal or vegetable origin. Among the most important breeding sites for flies are heaps of accumulated animal feces, garbage and waste from food-processing plants, organic manure, sewage, and accumulations of rotting vegetable matter.
After landing on a potential food source, the fly first vomits its gut contents on to the food. Lacking chewing mouthparts with teeth to help them masticate food into tiny, digestible bits. It must use its sponge-like tongue to liquefy any solid food it comes about. To this purpose, fly brings up regurgitated food and saliva and uses it to dab the meal with digestive enzymes. It will gradually turn solid food into liquid the fly can then slurp without much effort. In doing so, flies may also regurgitate bits of human or animal excrement.
Since they vomit repeatedly, flies also need a lot of fluids to stay hydrated, and the need to defecate increases exponentially in relation to the quantity of liquids consumed. They produce feces once every few minutes, passing the remaining bacteria and pathogens in their digestive system on to food for human consumption. Some microorganisms remain in mouthparts for several days. Then flushed out on food with the next salivary flow or defecation.
The body of a fly structurally adapted to pick up pathogens from filth and waste. Its tarsi have a complex structure of hairs and sticky pads. Those pads further enhance the fly’s potential to act as a mechanical vector for diseases.
The True Cost of Infestation
Tumblr media
Food-service providers faced with fly issues, cost of control is minuscule compared to negative impact and losses incurred through infestation. Food and food-surface contamination caused by flies can increase exponentially within a brief period. In ideal conditions with unlimited resources, a single fly can defecate up to 50 times in 24 hours. In just two weeks, a single fly can lay more than 1,000 eggs. And the future adult flies will be able to carry as many as one million bacteria on its body.
Establishments impacted by fly infestations can face significant fines and even temporary or permanent closure by the public health department. But even more terrifying than the financial and health-related aspects is whether or not your fly issue will go public. Many public health authorities post inspection online, and a media outlets are making sure information is disclosed to the public.
Word-of-mouth – the primary driver of any business’s success – can become your worst enemy in the aftermath of a fly infestation. According to a recent poll of food-service customers, 60% of restaurant tell five or more people about a pest sighting. A quarter of them would write a negative review or an email about the incident. Considering that more than half of frequent restaurant diners factor online reviews into their dining decisions. Each review you get have a lasting impact on one out of two customers in one of your key.
Client Cooperation Is Key in Any Fly Control Program
Tumblr media
Client cooperation is important in just about any pest control program. It becomes essential when dealing with fly infestations in commercial accounts. In lack of chemical control methods similar to those used to control pests such as rodents or cockroaches, sanitation, along with regular inspection and exclusion, becomes crucial in all fly management.
Understanding environmental conditions necessary for growth and development in relation to controlling pest populations is the first priority. Food-contact surfaces, and materials on which flies lay their eggs eliminated from the premises, or isolated from the egg-laying adult.
The frequency of sanitation protocols is also essential in controlling fly populations. Considering that the house fly completes its life cycle within 10 days. Remember, removal of necessary environmental conditions conducted twice a week in order to break the breeding cycle. Garbage cans and dumpsters tight-fitting lids, emptied regularly, and kept as far from the premises as is practical.
Exclusion, another important step in controlling pest fly populations, keeping doors, windows, and vents closed. Properly fitted with screens, and sealing and caulking other access points that flies use. Air curtains or automatic door closing mechanisms, installed over doorways to impede flies from entering the premises.
The best way to keep flies far from your commercial establishment is to be one step ahead of them. And make the pest management a part of your staff’s duties. Through regular communication and cooperation with your pest control provider, your employees can be taught how to properly inspect incoming shipments, report any signs of pest presence, clean up residues, and identify pest-prone areas. Keeping your premises clean is at the heart of food safety and customer experience. And staff education is key in ensuring that no fly will make its appearance in or contaminate your products.

what percentage of fresh water does canada have
what percentage of fresh water does canada have
Hello dear friends, thank you for choosing us. In this post on the solsarin site, we will talk about “  what percentage of fresh water does canada have“. Stay with us. Thank you for your choice.
Does Canada need to conserve its water?
Canadians know the importance of our freshwater supply, but by understanding how we use it and where it goes, we can use our supply even more responsibly.
From snow-dusted glaciers to thundering rivers to vast expanses of mirror-surfaced lakes, Canada is a country with abundant freshwater. But, with the world facing a freshwater crisis, Canadians have the increased responsibility of being the guardians of 20 percent of the planet’s precious freshwater resources. By knowing where our water comes from in Canada and where it goes, we can use it even more responsibly—setting an example for the rest of the world in the process.
Where does our water come from?
Like anywhere else in the world, Canada’s water follows a hydrological cycle: it falls in various forms of precipitation, and runs off the land as streams and rivers before flowing into the ocean, evaporating and starting again. However, in some areas, water has a longer cycling time, either locked up in glaciers or slowly seeping through layers of rock to collect in underground reservoirs known as aquifers.
How much of our water can we actually use?
Water that flows into rivers from rain and snowmelt is considered a renewable supply because it’s replenished on a yearly basis, although seasonal averages are affected by factors such as climate change. Non-renewable freshwater is usually groundwater that collected hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago when an arid region was considerably wetter. These resources can take a lifetime to renew, and so overuse could see them too easily depleted. Of Canada’s 20 percent of global freshwater resources, only around 7 percent is considered renewable, and most of that drains north toward Hudson Bay and the Arctic Ocean—away from the 85 percent of Canadians that live along the southern border. But, considering that Canada’s inhabitants make up half a percent of the world’s population, this is still a plentiful supply if used wisely.
Where does Canada’s freshwater go?
At around 9 percent of Canada’s total freshwater use, households account for the third highest consumption, after thermal-electric power generation and manufacturing.
Domestically, up until 2005 Canada was quite a thirsty nation with Canadians using around 330 liters of water each day—twice as much as the average European.
Today improvements in the water efficiency of household appliances mean Canadians now only use around 250 liters per person each day.
This is fantastic progress that can we can further improve upon, especially in places like the bathroom since over half of our daily water intake goes toward activities like washing and cleaning—just flushing the toilet uses the equivalent of 200 bottles of water!
What can we do to save our water?
Despite a slightly higher than average consumption, we still only use around one percent of our annually renewable water, and we have opportunities to use even less of it. Metering helps households to monitor their water usage, and some provinces have introduced plumbing codes that now require new buildings to be more water conserving.
Why is it important that we do?
Although Canada has abundant renewable freshwater, how much water each region receives varies based on location, drought, or demand. In urban populations especially, increasing demand, climate change, and the high cost of replacing aging infrastructure will likely make sustainable water management more difficult in future. Canada does recycle its freshwater, but on a small scale in isolated areas, and largely for agricultural use in areas like British Columbia and the Prairies. So, as municipal water supplies decrease or degrade in the future, water reuse in Canada will likely have to increase; in the meantime, the easiest and best answer may simply be to use less water.
Canada can lead by example
As responsible water stewards, we can take further action to show the rest of the world how to conserve and sustainably use water. Fitting faucets with aerators and installing modern, dual-flush toilets help to achieve the same results with much less water, while simple habit changes like only washing full loads of clothes and turning the tap off while brushing teeth also result in substantial savings. And it all adds up—just reducing time spent showering by two minutes can save around 2,600 liters of water per month, and not pre-rinsing dishes before loading the dishwasher saves up to 75 liters per load.
These are small, water-conscious choices that each of us can make every single day. And, if a water-rich country like Canada continues to reduce its consumption, the rest of the world will likely agree that they should, too.

Canada’s water yield
Canada has an average annual water yield of 3,472 billion cubic metres. This almost equals the amount of water in Lake Huron, giving Canada one of the largest renewable water supplies in the world. Brazil has the largest total water yield, followed by Russia.
Canada, however, has the most renewable freshwater per person each year: 109,837 cubic metres per person compared with Brazil, at 43,756 cubic metres per person. While total water yield is comparable between the United States (3,051 billion cubic metres) and Canada (3,472 billion cubic metres), the renewable freshwater per person in the United States is just 9.1% of that in Canada because the United States has a much larger population.
Canada’s average annual water
Canada’s average annual water yield per unit area is 348 litres of renewable freshwater for every square metre of the country, higher than the yield in drier countries such as Australia and South Africa but three times less than a tropical rainy country like Brazil. The Pacific Coastal drainage region has the highest water yield, followed by Newfoundland and Labrador. Drainage regions both in and north of the Prairies produce the least water.
Four drainage regions comprise most of the Prairies and stretch across the southern parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
This collection of drainage regions yields just 12% of what the Great Lakes drainage region yields, 6% of what the Maritime Coastal drainage region yields and only 3% of what the Pacific Coastal drainage region yields.
Industrial water use
These three groups discharge almost as much waste water into the environment as they withdraw: 32.8 billion cubic metres in 2007.
Thermal-electric power producers accounted for 83% of this total, manufacturers, 14% and mining, 2%.
Virtually all the water (99.8%) the thermal-electric power producers take in is used for cooling. Most of this water (75%) is not treated before discharge.
Most of the total discharged (66%) was returned to surface freshwater, 16% was discharged to groundwater and 11% to tailing ponds.
Residential water use
In 2007, 86% of households received their water from a municipal water supply and 12% had a private well.
Canada
Canada is a country in North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world’s second-largest country by total area. Its southern and western border with the United States, stretching 8,891 kilometres (5,525 mi), is the world’s longest bi-national land border. Canada’s capital is Ottawa, and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Oliver says: Please, can I eat my @bigcountryraw food now? (See why he has to wait below). ~ All of our pets are fed a raw food (aka REAL food) diet from @bigcountryraw. Why do we feed raw? Just like for humans, a healthy (real food) diet will benefit your pets in many ways. Cats are “obligate carnivores”. Obligate means “by necessity”. Cats MUST eat meat. Dogs, meanwhile, do have an omnivorous ability, but they also demonstrate similar and noticeable carnivorous traits. They also MUST eat (mostly) meat. In fact, Oliver eats an all meat diet, just like the cats (he does also get the odd bit of veggies from us; eg. the ends of cucumbers, a bit of tomato, etc.). ~ There is a lot of research out there and available for you to learn about different food options for your pets. We like to give our pets what we feel is the best nutrition (most nutrient-dense food), to keep them healthy and disease free. Feeding a real food diet, that has minimal processing, is an excellent way to improve your pets’ health. And best of all, it’s actually quite comparable in cost to traditional/commercial pet foods. Head on over to @bigcountryraw to learn more about how raw food can be a great choice for your pet. Current BCR promotion: Use BCRBONES10 for 10% off of ALL BCR bones! (Raw bones are great for cleaning your pet’s teeth!) ~ We always make Oliver wait to eat his food, because he finishes his food really quickly, and we don’t want him to go and hover around Finnegan (he’s waiting to lick Finnegan’s bowl), so he has to wait until Finnegan is almost done eating before he is given permission to eat his food! He always cries and whines about it, too! In Toronto, a diverse and bustling city, the cost of teeth cleaning can vary depending on several factors. This article aims to shed light on the average expenses associated with teeth cleaning in Toronto and the factors that influence these costs.
Factors Influencing Teeth Cleaning Costs:
Dental Clinic Location: The geographical location of the dental clinic plays a significant role in determining the teeth cleaning cost toronto. Here, the downtown core tends to have higher living and operational costs, potentially leading to slightly higher dental service fees compared to suburban or outlying areas.

Inclusion of Additional Services: Some dental clinics may include additional services, such as fluoride treatments or X-rays, as part of their teeth cleaning package. These add-ons can contribute to a higher overall cost but may offer comprehensive oral care.
Dental Insurance Coverage: The extent of dental insurance coverage can significantly affect out-of-pocket expenses for teeth cleaning. Patients with dental insurance are likely to pay less for routine cleanings compared to those without coverage.
Average Teeth Cleaning Costs in Toronto:
