ALT. VERSE – TED LASSO

this barbie is a football fan ! – in which daphne is adopted as a teenager by a family in the UK. she's the same ambitious girl with even more ambitious dreams & talent to spare. similar to her main verse, she works as a live musician at a popular coffee shop, where rebecca welton happens to stumble upon her in a time of need. rebecca hires her for a huge event – a moral booster for her football team, as well as a place for important people to mingle & socialize. it's where daphne puts her all into dazzling the audience & where she winds up meeting vincent davenport, the man willing to rep her. the party ends up being a huge success & after a heartfelt conversation with rebecca, she offers to buy her lunch as the least she can do to show her gratitude. she hadn't expected they'd start having lunch every week, but before she knew it, she'd made a new friend. not long after this, the greyhounds begin seeing a lot more of daphne. & it's fair to say, they get themselves a brand new cheerleader. ALT. VERSE – DJATS

this barbie lives in the 70s ! – in which daphne is part of the los angeles musical scene in the 70s. she's not the first nor the last person taken under teddy price's wing, but their bond certainly feels special to her. a kid straight out of the system, living in a van with a worn out guitar & a noteboook filled with lyrics took his compliments & promises & clung to them for dear life when nothing else around her felt stable. she makes him proud. she's not quite rock & roll, though that's teddy's bread & butter. she works with a more mellow, silky sound, but with a sweet, powerful voice nonetheless & captures the heart of many in the years to come. her fans' love is her drug of choice & she works constantly to prove that she's worthy of it – of being taken a chance on for the first time in her life. ALT. VERSE – GEN V

this barbie's voice kills ! – in which daphne gets injected with compound v as a baby & come puberty, her cursed power manifests at the worst time. all she'd wanted to do is surprise her parents with a song on their anniversary – she'd set up the table & the fairy lights in the backyard, she'd ordered them their favorite food & expertly chose the song they danced to at their wedding. as they danced to celebrate their 15 years of marriage, daphne sung & hit each note. even the highest, most difficult note to hit. her vocal chords did more than that, though. they'd created a sound so piercing, so unbearable, that it didn't take more than one moment for her parents to collapse, irreparable brain damage taking them away from her forever. broken up & adamant to keep the painful screams just inside her own head, she ends up in the system along with marie. she lets go of her singing dreams, afraid of what might happen if she lets music back into her life, but recognizes the power that she holds. the godolkin university accepts her. she chooses the crimefighting route, no matter how much her heart earns for the performing arts. she will never sing again. & that's non-negotiable. ALT. VERSE – POKER PRODIGY

this barbie is gonna clean you out ! – in which daphne's dream remains making it big in the music industry when she gets to the real world, but she falls in with the wrong crowd along the way. daphne's always known she's a good poker player, but it was never a skill that was meant to amount to anything. little did she know how useful it would be in her new life. while she still has an honest job on the side, playing music at one way ticket café, she spends her nights seeking out poker tables with high stakes & an empty seat waiting to be filled. her long winning streak allows her to have quite the glamorous life & she's quick to get a taste for it. it's during these long nights in smoke filled rooms that she also meets dominic mathews ( found @ slashaer ). charming, scrappy & trouble in all senses of the word. she may never leave these shady places without her money, but he's the one that makes sure she always leaves her heart behind.
