Not ask game related but I was wondering if Audrey Grace’s main verse has a Ted? Do they know each other?

YES she has a Ted! Or rather, she HAD one...his name is Ted Schroder Wiggins, but we can call him Ted Schroder. He's a loud and funny kid but he's also pretty responsible. Schroder was her childhood best friend, and then he was her travel buddy in the apocalypse and Audrey will tell you that it was only because of him that she managed to survive those first couple of years. She lost him in a horrible way...I'm hesitant to say more spoilers because I never got to show any of it on her trufflu blog and I really wanted to... TTWTT Someday, somehow! Aggghhhh!! Focus on the Possible — to Thrive, not Just Survive.

Focus on the Possible–to thrive, not just survive.  Recently I was mightily inspired by a short TED Talk by Angus Harvey, one of the authors of Fix the News, a newsletter I treasure for its offering of inspirational, groundbreaking good news — happening right now all over the planet.  After listening several times, I was struck by how focusing on what’s possible is a radical change from our normal response to challenging situations….often we fight, flee, or freeze!

Here’s another reason for focussing on what’s possible.  Early in my training in collaborative conflict resolution at the Justice Institute of BC (a life-changing course for me, my family, my work, and my life), I came across William Ury, one of the pioneers and luminaries in the field.  Ury has now written a new book called Possible:  How We Survive (and Thrive) in an Age of Conflict.  It is possible to thrive in these very days we are experiencing, as full of conflict and challenges as they are!  

To get a flavor of this potential, I suggest you listen to even the first ten minutes (after the intro), of this podcast interview between Ury and Tami Simon, the founder of Sounds True.  Ury considers himself a possibiiist.  He invites us, in challenging situations, to become curious, take reflective breaks, learn to listen….  Let’s each of us — in our own ways, and in our own lives — put our energies toward focusing on what’s possible…for our health and well-being, our communities and families, our work in the world, and our futures.   Focus on the potential–to thrive not just survive.  Indeed!

So much of what we hear is tragedy and doom and horror and disaster and grizzly projections.  They are not to be discounted or ignored.  Still, when we are in conflict or things are difficult, if/when we focus on our differences and our problems, we usually stay stuck, differences and difficulties harden and grow, and things often fall apart.  When we focus on what’s possible, on what’s working, when we learn to build bridges and look where we want to go, the world all of a sudden is completely different,.  It doesn’t just look different, it IS different, and full of possibilities.

In the face of all that is, let’s turn our attention to what’s possible.  Here’s to focusing on the good, the uplifting, the possible, the opportunities, sending appreciation for all you do, and thanks to those who share their insights and inspirations with me!

Context: We finally have SCHRODER!!! :D This scene ALSO branches off from Day 17 part 2, and happens at the same time as Day 17 part 4 (in fact, it’s the same scene as Day 17 part 4, just from another perspective).

It was MY VERY FIRST TIME rping Ted Schroder! Elf and I rped this in private, outside of the beach au discord server, because we just wanted some low-stress rp to help me flesh out Schroder’s character a bit more. In the end I really liked what we did so I decided to make it canon to Beach AU. I call it a “Hidden Scene” because it’s like one of those secret scenes u can unlock only if you meet certain requirements in a video game. Extremely few ppl could’ve been able to witness this interaction in-universe.

1. favorite fic you wrote this year

oh, good, giving me the hard questions lol. I'm gonna say (and I don't care if it's cheating or not) my whole Mouthful of Forevers series. It's the first thing I wrote, and the fic that led to all the other fics, it's my flagship fic, the canon of my heart.

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year

this is exceptionally difficult, because each fic I write has a little nugget of a scene that I just adore, but I remembered my classical musicians au the other day, and it has so much fun banter, and the final scene is one of my favorites, for the banter and the Big Damn Kiss that follows.

“Basic,” she teases, “I bet you related a lot to Schroder.”

“Who didn’t?”

“Did you have a Lucy van Pelt to lie on top of the piano too?”

“Why, you offering?”

She idly traces a hand over the mahogany neck of her harp. “I played my first when I was twelve. ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.’”

His eyebrows raise, jaw dropping, “Nuh-uh.”

“Oh yes. My mother and I love Cyndi Lauper. The first DVD we ever bought was Vibes.”

that being said, yesterday I read the first chapter of @mysteriesofloves holiday fake-dating au and it is DELIGHTFUL and I am so excited to read what comes next. I'll wait as long as is necessary. Nads could pull a Ted Lasso and drop the rest of the fic in August and I will just as happily read it then.

Audrey: [glances back at him] It means, we couldn’t really know whether he’d be around or not until we got here. [pointedly looks away again] Thaaat’s the less morbid meaning, anyway.

Ted: --HahaH,,! C’mon, no worries! I’m sure he’s just uh, gooone out for a walk! Yeah! He’s gotta come back sometime...

Audrey: Iiit’s okay, Ted, [stands up] we can always try another day--

Ted: –I mean, no, it has to be–I really wanted it to be–[crosses his arms and looks up at the Lerkim again in frustration] mngh,…today was special,,

Audrey: ...,,Well,...mmmfine, then. We’ll wait a little longer.

Ted: Yeah,,? Okay,

Audrey: [sits back down and patpats the spot beside her~] Come sit with me, though.

Ted: ,,.. [siiighs and sits down beside her, leaving a respectable space between them]

Audrey: [scoots right up against him]

Audrey: Thanks for taking me out today, either way.

Ted: Of course,,// wasn't too bad of a drive, right? Aaapart from that one loose brick before the canyon archway. That was my bad.

Audrey: Mm mm, I trusted you.

Ted: Heh, good...

Audrey: Lerkim today, the rest of the world tomorrow~

Ted: We’ll hit up any place you want, no matter how far. Just you wait--

Audrey: [amused] “We”?

Ted: Ah--I mean,,...y-yyeah? If you wan--mmMMM nahhhaha, did I say “we”??

Audrey: I’d love to.

Ted: --I meant, in the general sense, you know? Thneedville’s still got a long way to go, but with the city branching out eventually--

Audrey: We can be travel partners.

Ted: --Oh.....................,,,ok a y,,

Audrey: Hehe,, [kicks her feet idly] Oh, the places we’ll go~

Ted: Haha,...mm...sssorry, I’ll make sure your next birthday is better.

Audrey: Aww, this one’s already been really good, though, if you ask me. [scoots away and leans down to drag her backpack up]...Do you think we’ll still be living in a desolate valley a year from now? I’ve been eyeing a few vacation spots from that Seussional Geographic magazine I showed you.

Ted: Heh,,

Ted: You mean the one that you made us read together front and back in the park and then I got grounded for staying out so late?

Audrey: That's the one. Wait, you got grounded?

Ted: [waves his hand] It was worth it, so no biggie... I was thinking next year we could party it up in Katroo.

Audrey: Hmm orrr enjoy some peace and quiet at McElligot's Pool?

Ted: ...McGrew's Zoo.

Audrey: The Jungle of Nool!

Ted: Solla Sollew!

Audrey: Slab Ci--Solla Sollew?

Ted: Yeah?

Audrey: I dunno if I wanna go to go to yet another seemingly perfect, wall-enclosed city stewing in their own perceived happiness... [fiddles with the backpack buckle...]

Ted: Oh,,uh, well I thought it’d be a good place to start, just for that reason, actually. It’s like Thneedville, but...but done right, you know? And maybe we can take ideas from there to bring back here. Besides, the Once-ler seemed pretty enthusiastic about it--

Audrey: [sits up straight] The Once-ler,?

Ted: Yeah, back when I was trying to find out how to get a--er,, trying to find out what happened to the trees,... He kindaaa, went on a tangent? About all the places he visited before ending up in this valley.

Audrey: [click-flips open her backpack, listening...]

Ted: And then, when I tried to get him back on track, he just kept blabbing on and on about, how great it was in “sweet, sunny Solla Sollew”, with its flowers and its Wah-Hoo “Ri-vur”--

Audrey: Interesting. Let’s go.

Ted: And--huh??

Audrey: Forget what I said before, okay? It...it's kinda ignorant of me to write off a place that I hadn’t even tried visiting. [u  u,,] I should give things a chance.

Ted: And you’re...sure it’s not just ‘cause the Once-ler promo-ed it--

Audrey: ,,Pfft! No,,...but a Once-ler did let me try a real milkshake not too long ago. It’s opened my eyes to a world of possibilities. [pulls out the bag of marshmallows Ted had made her bring along]

Ted: Uh, didn’t he make you cry--

Audrey: [ignores his statement and keeps talking] They probably have good food there. Real food. Real animals! Real plants?? Maybe even...a real ocean, can you imagine!? There’s so much out there that we haven’t experienced. I wanna try it all. I wanna see it all. So, that’ll include Solla Sollew.

Ted: ...,,Psh,, glad I was able to convince you, then,...

Audrey: Yep, it was totally you.

Ted: ...[shruuugs] Still kinda weird to know there’s more than one Once-ler.

Audrey: Aww, I don’t mind...

Ted: Oh, Seuss, what if there are multiples of us, too...don’t know if I’m ready for that.

Audrey: ...

Ted: ...Eh, forget it. M’sure it’s just a Once-ler thing.

Artdumppp~! These are all p recent, drawn btwn Nov 2020 and Jan 2021. Context:

1) Zomb au Audrey Grace and Ted Schroder (my lorax ocs), my hc is that Schroder was the more protective one out of the two, an attitude that Audrey would adopt for herself later on. They’d be about 17 and 14 at this point. 2-4) Death God Miru with a slightly different loopy hairstyle. pencil doodle -> clean up on sai -> gold embellishments. I rly enjoyed the whole process and I like the earlier versions just as much as the final, so I included them 😊 5-7) Bday gifts for @kirfuffel-kerfuffle, @lyzardy, and @tear-mint, respectively 8) aggie.io collab with @bethanygabrielleart of my zomb au Audrey, she did lines, I did colours 9) Based off that one popular tweet that was going around during Dec.
