hey! weird question but what do you think inspired your art style? i find it really appealing and i'd love to hear how you developed it, natural or otherwise :D i hope you're doin okay in general, i checked out your ziggy animation and i absolutely adore it, you've got a good handle on expressions and it's kind of inspirational for me :')
hey thanks for sending this -- i have to admit, this message means so much to me, it really makes me smile because ive been struggling with having any confidence in artwork rn (’: thank you so much for enjoying it .... you really brightened my whole day lol
ive been drawing ever since i was little, so i think drawing the way i do just happened as a gradual product over time without me consciously trying. whatever media you like, you’ll probably emulate it a little, and that’s always amazing because it shows who you are by what you like!
like a lot of people i started off drawing by drawing kind of crude anime stuff, and then i got more into western comics/animation.  really liked cartoon network, nickeldeon, genndy tarkakovsky (samurai jack) and stephen silver (danny phantom) especially. i just would copy art from tv shows/artists i liked, and then you learn to find what you like about it. i also drew a lot of jhonen vasquez (invader zim) + drew rausch (no tv show, he makes comics) style stuff becuase i loved really crazy expressions and i liked the really pointy straight lines (not so much into curves or soft shapes).
when i got more into art school i did a lot more academic style studying (like lifedrawing) which definitely always helps, but i found what i enjoyed most and what helped me find a way of drawing that made me happy was just looking at art i liked and being more conscious of why i liked it.  ex. i like rob renzetti stuff, i liked it because i like the shapes.  time to try to see if i can work with shapes like he can.
all in all it’s just a product of drawing what you like while also maybe doing a little studying on the side.  try to draw like artists you like and you’ll just pick up their habits that you enjoy and you can ditch the parts of them that you aren’t into.  if you like realism, look at realism, if you like that in between anime-ish sort of realism, look at that, if you like cartoony stuff, look at that.  and try to do it all i guess!
it’s 4 AM ... this might not make much sense but i really wish you luck in drawing and i bet your stuff looks awesome !!
