I feel like Mungoteazer has a potentially angsty dynamic whether it's platonic or romantic. since it's sort of them against the world situation. Especially in cats 2019 since they don't seem to be that involved with the tribe probably just acquaintances with them at best.

I prefer to see them as partners/ close friends but not siblings cause I hc them with different parents, also so like I don't mentally die whenever they get paired for the mating dance or whatever it's called.

Good thought anon, so thanks as always. I admittedly do not see Rumple and Bomba really coming together on their own, but there is a potential for it.

Rumple has crushes on all the queens, and Bomba (and Cass) represent fixations that are more from lust than anything. They are both similar to figurative trophies in her mind. She thinks the red queen is smoking hot (how could she not?), and always has a little spot in her head for dreaming about Bomba.

Bomba on the other hand does not have a crush or anything substantial held for the little stripey queen. She does think Rumple is cute (how could she not? #2 - electric boogaloo), and finds it admirable enough that her partner Tugger has a hard time resisting her charm. Given the stories he sometimes tells (in a tactful way of course) of his exploits with Teazer, Bomba's interest is piqued in just how bratty she can be.

In my opinion, the mostly likely scenario where they would meet is one where Tugger would act as a liason between them. Sharing him as a partner opens up the opportunity, or at least creates the excuse for them to meet. That being said, even at that point it is still a bit of step to get to Bomba fucking the lights of Rumple with a strap, but again it could happen.

It is totally possible that Rumple crashes into Tugger / Bomba's den when they are fucking, completely unannounced and definitely uninvited. That would not go over so well after the Nth time, and while Bomba is very level headed the majority of time, this time is different. Perhaps it is one of those special days for Tugger to be dicked down and pegged, and it gets unceremoniously cut off by the little queen interrupting before they can get started.

Bomba has a fiery temper in rare instances, and would demand that Rumple go and get fucked right now. This is taken as a challenge by the calico, and she would push back against Bomba, teasing her a bit instead of turning heel and leaving as requested. Teazer is unsurprisingly obnoxious with trying to get the heat off her ass, and oftentimes instinctually tries to look as cute as possible to soften any punishment. Not this time, as Bomba is simply staring at Rumple waving her ass around in an exacerbated 'Is this bitch for real?' way of annoyance.

Though, it is really hard for anyone to resist her charm for too long. The absurdity of it all is funny to Bomba, and her anger quells just enough for her to not want to pick Rumple up by her scruff (which Bomba absolutely could do with ease) and toss her out. Looking down at the strap around her waist, and eyeing Tugger who is watching both queens with anticipation, she figures she may as well get something out of this.

Without much gentleness, Bomba would grab a surprised Rumple and forcibly bend her over, fucking into her hard enough that she yelps. Rumple would be a mess of whines, relishing in getting pounded over and over again as Bomba finds an outlet for the anger that still lurks beneath the surface. If the calico was looking to be submissive to get out of trouble, it has worked well for her. The experience is different for both queens, Rumple never being strapped before and Bomba never pegging another queen.

All the Jellicles I ship together (+ my headcanons for them)

Alonzostrap – With Alonzo as his right hand working alongside him as a Jellicle Protector, I think they'd get along well.

Altugger – Alonzo yearns, but his pride stops him from approaching Tugger.

Casslonzo – Good for them, being slinky together.

Munkoffelees – Yeah, Munk might also be dating his brother, but it somehow works out.

Tuggoffelees – I guess it's even with Munk since he's dating his brother too. Munk and Tugger are fine with keeping their relationships with Misto seperate, but that doesn't stop them from spending time all together.

Demestrap – Husband and wife. No qualms here.

Demelurina – Bombalurina knew Demeter longer than anyone else, but they haven't gotten married yet. Demelurinastrap do spend time together, but Munk and Bomba mostly devote their attention to Demeter.

Mungoteazer (Not related to each other) – They were conjured to life from scrap puppets, by Macavity to do his bidding. Rather than being made as siblings, they were made for each other, and it all works out.

Munkujerrie – Munkustrap has a crush on Mungojerrie, but they haven't realized their pining is mutual yet. The extent of their relationship thus far has been mostly sexual, with bits of "I love you but I can't stand you," thrown in.

Victeazer + Mungotoria – Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer may be a bad influence on Victoria, but what kitten can live without a little roving here and there? Those two are a very convincing package deal.

Platoria – Young lovers. Plato was Victoria's first mate, and she couldn't be happier. They just adore each other.

Platugger – Their relationship is mostly sexual, but there's genuine love between them. They just have to explore each other on a more serious level to realize.

Skimbledots – Aunt and uncle duo who may've adopted all of the Junkyard.

There's a lot of overlapping here. Munkustrap seems to be involved in most of these, and with the busy life he leads, how could he possibly make enough time for everyone?

Well, I like to think they sometimes all spend time together. But that would be a lot to manage thinking about it now.

There's never really enough time in the night/day. So what's easier than having them all spend time together at once? Maybe not all of them at once, but different pairings for different days, depending on which lover they happen to catch that day.

These cats aren't the most picky about their partners — and they all understand they lead different lives. Living together in the Junkyard just makes it easier to manage that.

How they manage to spend time together (+ extra rambles LOL):

Demelurinastrap definitely share a den. Demeter is usually out with Bomba during the day, and Munkustrap can always come home after the night is over and curl up in bed with them if he chooses. He spends a significant amount of time there when he's not busy.

Alonzostrap sometimes do their patrols together, though Alonzo is usually in charge of the day and Munk has the night.

Alonzo is welcome to spend as much time as he pleases at his brother Misto's den, but this sometimes results in Munk dropping by while they're both around. It's not that they're uncomfortable knowing they're sharing the same cat, but I imagine they like to keep it seperate for the most part.

Tugger and Misto also share a den, and Munkustrap occasionally comes by there as well. They're less concerned to be sharing Misto, and it's not unlikely you'll find them in a cuddle puddle.

Platoria prefer one-on-one time together, so Vic-Teazer-Jerrie usually go off to do their own things instead of spending time all together.

Mungojerrie and Munkustrap's time together is often short, passionate, and rushed. They want more time together, want to try being more, but neither of them are ready to admit that yet.

Some Cats headcanons I have!

• Quaxo and Misto are two different cats. They're twins and Tugger being the Himbo he is, doesn't clock into this fact for the longest time. He is very confused why one moment "Misto" hates his guts and in the next is very receptive to his flirting and even teases him back.

• Both Quaxo and Mistofelees are Bustopher's kittens.

• Demeter and Bombalurina are Jellylorum's daughters.

• Macavity has two daughters. Jemima through Demeter and Electra through Bomba. (@jellylorum-thecampcounslercat has this hcn as well and I couldn't have agreed more when I saw it on her blog).

• Etcetera was found by the tribe abandoned in the streets and Jenny took it upon herself to raise the kitten.

• Mute!Victoria. Just this. No need to say more.

• Plato is Asparagus Jr.'s son, and he never misses a chance to embarrass Plato in front of Victoria (either intentionally or not).

• Victoria is super feminine, delicate and pastel-y but she's impulsive and kind of a little shit. That's why her, Jerrie and Teazer get along so well.

• Both Plato and Victoria are Bi and they Bi panick together as a couple.

• Electra is a great listener and knows everybody's secrets. You want to know anything, you know that she knows. But she only opens her wise mouth when truly necessary.

• Skimbleshanks has no kittens of his own, so he has a huge soft spot for the Toms and lets them play in the express's carrier carriage whenever it's not in activity.

• Cassandra is a suave goddess and a killer business woman and one of those people that don't need to put effort in how good they look, they just look flawless as soon as they wake up.

• Munkustrap receives gifts from nearly all kittens on father's day every year. Because yes, he deserves it.

• Jemima and Electra have an inkling of Macavity's magic. Jemima can feel other people's feelings on herself like a mirror, while Electra has occasional visions and premonitions. Both of them can see Auras.

• Okay but Alonzo x Electra (Alectra?) anyone?

• On the same note Bombalurina x Cassandra because come on you guuuuys. Two beautiful Queens. Alone. No Tom good enough to hold their incredible power. They might as well help each other and become invincible lesbian moms.

• Coritopat and Tantomile are also magical cats. They're telepaths.

• Coricopat has a crush on Exotica and can't talk straight when around her. He stumbles into his words so bad that at some point he entertained the idea of having Tantomile tell him what to say telepathically so he doesn't look so stupid.

- Trans male Jerrie for da win

- Used to be Macavity's "favourite" henchcat, but also acted as a scapegoat for everyone else's fuck-ups during failed missions, so he had a really weird conflicting relationship with Mac

- He's one of Demeter's best friends and acts as a sort of big brother/uncle figure for Jemima and Sillabub

- He's also on weird terms with Misto - usually they're allies who sometimes work together to make mischief, but Misto also blames a lot of his own tricks on M&R, which puts a sour taste in Jerrie's mouth a lot of the time

- He really looks up to Tugger as a cat who knows how to reel in his ego and take responsibility when he's needed by the tribe

- Rumpleteazer almost sent him into a crisis once when she pointed out that Jerrie has had a crush on all three of the Deuteronomy brothers.

- Him and Teazer are mates <333

- Has the same sort of logical reasoning you'd expect from a kid (e.g. bird seed makes birds appear when you throw it on the ground, therefore bird seed GROWS birds) -- but because he's a cat, a lot of the other Jellicles, especially the kittens, think he's really fucking smart and he gives them all sorts of facts that he thinks are true, but are definitely total bollocks <3

- He can read english, but he can't do mathematics - on the flip-side, Rumpleteazer can't read, but she's a maths wizz

- Pouncival and Tumblebrutus look up to him as like, the King of Pranks and Funnies

- He's a really good brother-in-law to Cettie

- Jerrie, Alonzo, Bomba, Demeter, Rumpleteazer, and Cassandra all spent time at Macavity's compound together. Some longer than others. He was there the longest.

@corico-mile As Jenny so on character. Caring if a little fussy. But as Alonzo, oh boy. We have had some real heartwarming sibling moments. Mistos been through it man and he has added some much needed sweetness and comfort. And the Cow thread with Mackenzie not only adorable but he was so patient with him.

@mistoffeleeskinnie Hot damn can this dude not only cosplay but RP! So first I want to point out the reason I originally followed was that flawless Misto cosplay. Its gorgeous, I could never. Now for the writing... Having two wildly different characters and keeping their characteristics separate while bouncing between them is a SKILL. Pounce is an adorable bean who you can't help but love and want to protect. (and stop from eating various non edible items). Jerrie is just incredibly done. Funny and sweet, when he isn't hypnotised by Macavity. He's just written so canon. Outwardly being all cool but is actually a sweetheart.

@baconandbuscuits so so so creative! The plots, the back stories, the headcanons. *chefs kiss*. The depth given to Cettie beyond squealing fangirl and adorable baby is so good. And let's talk about those OCs. Wow. They are some of the most creative if intense OCs I've seen. I should say it more, but I adore Eris. I miss her. The Tugger bullying had me in tears, it was hilarious.

And the big daddy of them all (I don't actually call her that) @munkthehunk We've spent nearly a decade rping together now, and its great to have someone who is so in sync with you, you can not only bounce off the most intense ideas off them, they make it worse (in the best way). For someone who is actually Tugger IRL, she does a spectacular Munk and Macavity. Having a Macavity that can be both hilarious and terrifying is amazing. An extremely adorable Teazer who you just cannot be mad at I mean look at her. Cute supportive train dad in Skimble, mindless sweetheart in Cori, kind older sister who takes no BS in Bomba. You need a specific character for something she had it and she plays it flawlessly. Creating the kittens was such an easy process too with her and I love them ALL. She plays Jellibean in the most adorable way I just can't. I feel you can always tell when I'm writing for her it just doesn't come out as good?

But of course I would say this, I do kinda have a crush on her. Omg.

@bombas-wife : There has been some of the most interesting threads as well as the sweetest! An excellent godparent for the kittens. I love Tim becoming friends with adult cryptids who teach him and help him and honestly it leads to some of the most heartwarming threads. Baby cryptid learns to make fire 🥺

@falasta Maia is adorable. I love her, so much I couldn't not draw her. I love that she can also stand up for herself. I am so excited to see how this character develops. And as a writer, she just slips into threads and writes so flawlessly its like she's always been there.

True, I MAY be a tiiiiny bit biased here but this is a Misto I could never. She's Bombalurina and Macavity's daughter, but she spent most of her time as a really small kitten with either her mother or Demeter. When the rebellion against Macavity happened, Alonzo and Rumpleteazer were tasked with making sure all the kittens got out okay, and the two of them and Mungojerrie have been extremely protective of her ever since. Alonzo is more of a uncle or father figure to her along with Munkustrap, and Jerrie and Teazer have appointed themselves her honorary big brother and sister (and secretly terrible influences on an impressionable young kitten, naturally, but sssssh.)

She's the problem-solver among her group of friends and is always the one to point out options that they haven't considered yet. She's a very intelligent kitten who's good at thinking on her paws and coming up with creative solutions.

She's also usually a rather quiet kitten, but once you get her started on a top she's interested in, she will talk your ear off with the biggest smile on her face. And she loves hearing other cats get passionate about their interests in turn--you couldn't ask for a more excited and active listener.

Her very best friends are Jemima, Etcetera, Olivia, Pouncival, and Carbucketty. She and Carbucketty even have a secret handshake.

She doesn't so much have a crush on Tugger as she wants to be Tugger--she's always had a long rebellious streak and wishes she could be more outgoing than she is, and he just embodies that for her. Whenever she's not hanging out with kittens her own age, she likes to trail after Tugger (so does Jemima, which gives them an excuse to hang out more).

She's kind of an Ariel-esque fangirl for human stuff. She loves tagging along to music clubs and cabarets, she taught herself how to read and loves creepy old fairy tales, and she likes to make little crafts out of whatever bits and bobs she finds around the Junkyard. Friendship bracelets are her favorite, and she has a necklace strung with cool-looking keys that she hangs on a nail above her bedding.

She splits her time between Bomba's and her den in the Junkyard and Cassandra's big house with her humans. And while she loves their den because she's decorated her area like a giant pillow fort with a cool lamp, Cass's yard has so many trees to climb, and her humans always make the best food to share.

It took her a while to realize that asking for help when she needs it is okay, especially since she idolizes all of the Protectors, who always seemed so brave and self-assured, and she hates it when other cats treat her like a dumb kitten. After she getting horribly lost outside the Junkyard early in the morning and having to flag down the dawn patrol for help, she learned her lesson for the most part.

Among the kittens, she and Carbucketty have had the most close calls with food cats aren't supposed to eat. Each of these times, Skimble gave her tea to settle her stomach, and she developed a taste for that instead.

She's a firm believer in "snitches get stitches", which is why she's come along on more of Jerrie and Teazer's heists than their own siblings have (Tumblebrutus likes to mess with Teazer whenever they get cornered about their whereabouts, and Etcetera's too scared of getting caught).

She used to get in trouble for swearing (again, blame Jerrie and Teazer), but since then she's resorted to very colorful substitutes. You know you've made her mad when she's just listing increasingly outlandish, almost Shakespearean insults at you.

She’s already one of the more mature kittens, but while she does mellow out as an adult, she still keeps her daring and slightly scrappy side--it serves her well as the future Lead Protector.

1998 Film Munkustrap Rewatch Part 5

So, when last we left our heroes, Old Deuteonomy had been kidnapped. Most of the toms went to search for him while the queens held down the fort. Demeter and Bombalurina spent the time explaining who Macavity is. And now, the exciting conclusion:

After the Macavity number, Munkustrap comes back. They couldn’t find Macavity or Old Deuteronomy. Demeter still has every reason to be afraid and Munkustrap tries to comfort her.

But, Macavity is coming after them. Even Bombalurina is freaked out by this point.

“WHERE THE FUCK IS MY FATHER?!!!”

When Macavity appears disguised as Old Deuteronomy, Munkustrap doesn’t let his guard down right away. He noticed that Macavity is no longer standing on the garbage pile he’d been standing on before “Old Deuteronomy” was brought in. He can tell that something’s not quite right.

When Demeter doesn’t trust “Old Deuteronomy” and wants to charge at him, Munkustrap gives her permission. Something weird is going on. Also, Jenny, who’d looked at “Old Deuteronomy” with suspicion before, is kind of freaking out in the background.

Once Macavity is revealed, one of the first things he does is shove Munkustrap. Macavity is physically the stronger of the two. He might actually be the older brother.

Munkustrap, in Full Stance™, is dedicated to guarding Demeter throughout this scene, to the point that when Macavity strikes a kitten right in front of him, he can’t do anything but watch.

And then Macavity easily shoves Munkustrap out of the way to grab Demeter.

But, Munkustrap is very good at recovering from blows and now it is ON!

And he gets thrown to the floor.

And then Macavity uses his hypno powers on him. Once again, Jacob Brent said that Macavity isn’t actually magical, but he’s clearly using some sort of magical or psychic power here. There was clearly some miscommunication going on here.

Now I’m just imagining Mistoffelees, being the more powerful magician, claiming that Macavity is faking all his powers just to fuck with his rival.

But, no matter what, Macavity can’t make cats disappear and reappear on a barge somewhere.

Anyway, Munkustrap breaks himself free from Macavity’s hypnosis. He couldn’t do it to save Old Deuteronomy, but maybe he can do it now.

And he still gets knocked out. This just isn’t his day, is it?

Rumpleteazer and Electra apply first aid. Actually, I think they’re trying to wake him up by grooming him, possibly trying to clean off some of the blood. The red lighting here makes it look like Munkustrap’s chest is covered in blood. I’m not sure if that was intentional, but it’s a good effect. 

Meanwhile, Mungojerrie experiences a new emotion: The Urge to Kill

It’s interesting how Jerrie and Teazer are emphasized here. They seem to enjoy driving Munkustrap to madness, but they’re both very loyal to him. Combining this with some of her behavior in The Pekes and the Pollicles, Teazer might straight up have a crush on him. Perhaps Mungojerrie does too, but he’s undyingly loyal either way.

Anyway, everything works out okay. Here’s some Demestrap.

Tugger of all cats has a plan to save the day. Bomba and Demeter are immediately onboard but Munkustrap’s still not sure what the fuck is going on? I mean, since when does his little brother take charge in a serious situation like that?

But, the song is catchy and Demeter’s always right, so he’ll roll with it.

Presto! Munkustrap wants to know why it’s raining glitter.

“So, Old Deuteronomy’s life depends on a walking fire hazard. I hope Tugger actually knows what he’s doing and isn’t doing this entirely to get laid.”

Someone’s gonna have to clean up all this glitter and Munkustrap is starting to suspect that it might be him.

But after the Conjuring Turn, Munkustrap starts to get into it. (If you watch the video of the deleted Conjuring Turn, you can see that they cut to directly after it and that’s this shot)

Munkustrap’s still not sure about the glitter, though. It might be flammable.

Seriously, Misto is like an honorary little brother to him and he’s loving the show. He’s just a bit nervous about the lightning and not a fan of cleaning up glitter.

Well, it all works out and Misto gets a hug from Old Deuteronomy. Munkustrap thinks it’s going on a little long...

...But that’s just because he wants a turn to get a hug. It’s all cool.

Skipping ahead to Grizabella. Munkustrap turns to Old Deuteronomy to decide what to do with her and he tells him to hear her out.

Munkustrap is one of the first cats to turn towards Grizabella as she sings. This is while she’s still singing the verse that appeared in The Moments of Happiness. He probably remembers those words. Was she what Old Deuteronomy was talking about?

As Victoria goes to Grizabella, Munkustrap, Old Deuteronomy, and Jellylorum have a bit of a conference about it. Are we going to allow this? Every other time Victoria’s tried to touch Grizabella, it was Jellylorum who stopped her, so perhaps Victoria’s her responsibility and she has to get a say in this. They all agree that she can go ahead.

Munkustrap welcomes Grizabella back into the tribe right before The Journey to the Heaviside Layer. By the time he reaches her, he knows that she’s the Jellicle Choice. Perhaps the choice was just as much his and Jellylorum’s as it was Old Deuteronomy’s.

He’s happy for her, as are we all.

Self-Indulgent Legally Blonde the Musical AU Because I Can

Yes I’m doing this, and no you can’t stop me. This is specifically for Legally Blonde the Musical, not the movie. The characters in the musical are a little different from the movie, so my choices here may not be the same for the film. Also, my choices are all heavily affected by my personal Cats headcanons and ships. -I don’t think I need to explain why Plato is Emmett, that’s pretty self-explanatory. Tori is Elle because the colors work and it just makes sense to me. Although, ngl Teazer could also make a good Elle since she’s a chaos child who probably wouldn’t give a flying fuck about law, but I think Tori suits the role better. Teazer is Enid because lesbian, and Enid is also implied to have a crush on Elle. A big change in this au is giving Enid a much more prominent role in the show. Why is this? Because I’m going to make Platoriateazer HAPPEN damn it. 

-My idea here is that Teazer/Enid now comes from a similar background as Plato/Emmett, and the two of them bonded over this and became inseparable prior to coming to Harvard. They’re besties right off the bat when we get introduced to them. Teazer/Enid is now present for all of the bonding moments, like “Chip On My Shoulder” because she has a similar background as Plato/Emmett now. She’s there to help Tori study alongside Plato, and also gets transformed by Tori in “Take It Like a Man” (she gets a suit too because what else would Teazer wear?) and of course she’s there to provide comfort in “Legally Blonde.” Basically, her involvement and role in the show is almost identical to Plato’s/Emmett’s. At the end of the show both her and Plato get proposed to by Tori.

Callahan - Macavity

Warner Huntington III - Alonzo

Vivienne Kensington - Cassandra

-Macavity as Callahan is self-explanatory. However, I’m so sorry I made Alonzo Warner, I’m really doing him dirty here, but like, he makes the most sense for that role. You could argue that Tugger could be Warner, but on what planet would Tugger go to law school? Or get a “serious” girlfriend for that matter? I just can’t see it. And for the record, musical Warner is a lot less of an asshole than movie Warner, he actually gets redeemed a little bit, receives a happy ending, and remains friends with Elle after everything, well, they hug it out at least, which signals to me that they stayed friends. Do I even need to explain why Cass is Vivienne? That one’s also self-explanatory. Similar to Warner, Vivienne is less of an asshole in the musical than in the movie.

Brooke Wyndham - Bombalurina

Chutney Wyndham - Admetus 

-Okay, I know Jennyanydots would make more sense for Paulette (in fact this could work really well with Bustopher as Kyle and Jenny as Paulette), but HEAR ME OUT, imagine Asparagus Jr. or Munk doing the bend and snap, you’re welcome. For real though, the reason I made it like this is because I’m not fond of the Skimbledots or Jennypher ships, I just don’t like them personally, and I did say I was going to be biased in this. Skimble is Kyle because Kyle is the package delivery guy, and Skimble runs the midnight mail train, they both deliver mail therefore they are the same character. Also, if we’re taking into account 2019 Skimble, who is definitely Kyle materiel, then I don’t think I need to explain myself further. Bomba as Brooke is self-explanatory. I didn’t have the heart to make any canon characters Chutney, so I’m using expendable, vague Admetus, female version probably. 

Kate (Delta Nu girl) - Jemima/Sillabub

Margot (Delta Nu girl) - Etcetera

Pilar (Delta Nu girl) - Electra

Serena (Delta Nu girl) - Tantomile

-Jemima/Sillabub is Kate because I can see her being the one who helps Tori study. Etcetera as Margot is self-explanatory. Electra as Pilar and Tantomile as Serena don’t really have any reasoning behind them, I just knew I needed to make then Delta Nu girls in some way.

-Cori would definitely be a law student, so he’s here as Aaron. I wanted to get Demeter in here somehow so I made her the court judge, because she would be a court judge. Bustopher as Elle’s uncle/father character is self-explanatory. Jerrie as the beer bash guy? Very self-explanatory. I don’t have anyone down for Dewey because I already used my evil character (Macavity) and I already used my expendable character (Admetus) sooooooo, I mean Dewey is only in one scene anyway so he can be some generic character maybe.

Nikos - Rum Tum Tugger (yes this is going based off that amv, sue me) GAY OR EUROPEAN?

Carlos - Mr. Mistoffelees (also from that amv) GAY ANNNNNNND EUROPEAN.

For generic roles (like the people at the beer bash or the people at the salon) - Pouncival, Tumblebrutus, George, Jellylorum, and Grizabella.

Unfortunately I couldn’t manage to get Old Deut or Gus in here, one of them could have been the court judge but I really wanted Demeter in this. They could probably be in generic roles, maybe hang out at the salon, or be generic professors at Harvard idk. 

So this is the au, it is my baby, you may do with it what you will.

Random Cats Ideas/Headcanons

Sorry, this is kinda long and self-indulgent :)

You know how superheroes have pets and sometimes they get spin-offs i.e. Krypto, Ace the Bat-Hound, etc? That’s the Rumpus cat. Which superhero is his owner? The Jellicles don’t care; the cat’s where it’s at.

The kittens adore Gus. They love to perform some of his old plays to him. Victoria knows all of Griddlebone’s lines by heart. Pouncival loves playing a pirate so much he hand made his own costume and constantly adds on to it. Even though Gus has trouble moving, the kittens try to accommodate him so he can play Firefrorefiddle. Gus is touched every time.

Tugger doesn’t flirt with Demeter because he knows about Munkustrap’s feelings for her.

Etcetera and Pouncival are the most energetic/athletic cats in the tribe as well as the most accident-prone.

Coincidentally, Etcetera and Puncival are Asparagus Jr. and Jellylorum’s kids. Asparagus likes to rough-house with them from time to time. Even though she has to reel them in a lot, Jelly likes to sit by and watch her kids play.

Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer were taken in by Macavity when they were kittens due to their thievery skills. Macavity was abusive and Jerrie would protect Teazer from him when he was feeling particularly malicious. They eventually ran away and found the Jellicle tribe. Both were adopted by Skimble and Jenny. While both are afraid of Macavity, they never lost their happy-go-lucky attitudes.

Skimble taught Jerrie about human inventions. Jenny taught Teazer how to sew. 

Jellylorum is the tribe’s equivalent of a school teacher. 

Grizabella is Demeter and Bombalurina’s mother. 

Jerrie and Teazer are surprisingly shrewd. It surprises everyone every time.

With the exception of some kittens, Exotica is the newest member of the tribe, which is why she sticks to the background. The others always include her to remind her she’s welcome, but she just hasn’t quite found her clique in the tribe yet. She’s slowly becoming friends with Bomba and Cassandra, though. 

Everyone was surprised and confused that the aloof Cassandra chose to be with Alonzo, who was always a bit of a flirt. Truth is, she finds it hard to connect with others a lot. So when Alonzo showed up and told her all the ways he thought she was beautiful and amazing, she just couldn’t resist. She’ll never tell that to anyone, though.

Quaxo/Misto and Jemima are Coricopat and Tantomille’s unofficial little brother and sister. Fight them.

Cori and Tanto are training Jemima with her psychic powers.

Funnily enough, Mungojerrie is the more responsible one out of the two. He sees Teazer as the little sister, despite the fact that they’re twins. It’s the same with Tanto in relation to Cori. Both he and Teazer bond over their slightly overprotective siblings and lowkey start crushing on each other.

Jerrie and Tanto didn’t get along at first, but at Teazer and Cori’s insistence, they get to know each other better and start crushing become unlikely friends. 

Tugger is always pestering Misto to add sparkles to his mane. 

Pouncival and Etcetera share, like, three brain cells, and most of the time, Electra has them somehow.

Bustopher belongs to a family of high-class scholars, so he’s the most knowledgeable of human devices/behavior/history in the tribe, Skimbleshanks being a close second. He and Skimble like to gossip over tea about their humans.

Victoria is Albino (Albino cats have notable bright pink skin; Victoria is the only cat in the show with a pink nose and pink in her ears.)

Since Tugger is the little brother, he sometimes feels inferior to Munkustrap. Munk knows this, so he makes sure to try and include Tugger in things i.e. looking after kittens, the Pekes and the Pollicles play, etc. Tugger might be a bit of a narcissist, but he’s an important member of the tribe.

Macavity is the oldest brother, Munkustrap is the middle child, and Tugger is the youngest. Old Deuteronomy had nicknames for them growing up. Macavity was his ‘Sunshine’, Munk was his ‘Moonbeam’, and Tugger was his ‘Starlight’. Old Deut still calls them that sometimes behind closed doors.

While Victoria does talk, she prefers to use visual/physical cues when showing affection i.e. leaning on someone to comfort or show support. Plato swears they have a secret language. 

Victoria has a magic of her own, but it’s not really outwardly like Mistos’, so hardly anyone knows about it. Part of it is her magic flows into her coat and protects her from harmful exposure, which is important due to her albinism.

Bombalurina, Macavity, Rumpleteazer

I tried to keep these brief, but they all ended up a bit long.

Macavity:

He is Old Deuteronomy’s eldest son. Munkustrap is the second oldest, and Rum Tum Tugger is the youngest. As the oldest, he was training to be the next Jellicle leader.

As he grew older, he found he wanted to use magic as a sort of weapon to defend the tribe. However, Old D insisted magic was only to be used as the Heaviside layer intended; magic was only to be used in defense or for non-harmful means.

He started manipulating and training large and dangerous alley rats to work for him and even communicating in private with stray cats. He also worked to develop his powers in secret, almost burning down the junkyard a couple times.

Feeling isolated and trapped, as he was forbidden from working on his magic, he became irritable and restless. He started fights and began attacking other Jellicles with his magic. Eventually, he was exiled. He only managed to convince Demeter and Bombalurina to come with him.

Outside of Munkustrap, Macavity is the only other cat who knows Old D is on his last life (assuming that cats have nine lives and can only be reborn eight times).

Macavity’s magic isn’t as strong as everyone believes it to be. He can manipulate fire very well, throw his voice, create several apparitions of himself, disguise himself as someone else, control other beings like a puppeteer, conjure and teleport, and seemingly fit where no one should be able to. However, he is extremely smart. Many of his tricks revolve around intelligence and understanding how to use human items (like power cords) to wreak havoc. He also relies mostly on brute strength in a fight, as his powers aren’t great for close combat fights.

Macavity has the ability to change his appearance, just like Mistoffelees. His normal appearance is bright, dusty ginger with darker tabby stripes, but he can change it to be mostly black when he feels like it. Think of it as comparing 1998 to 2016.

He had a brief infatuation with Demeter, but only continued it to keep her and Bomba from leaving him. Jemima is his daughter, but Jemima doesn’t know. Demeter escaped before she was born.

Since Mistoffelees was not born directly into the tribe, Macavity has tried to convince Mistoffelees to join him on several occasions. However, Bustopher Jones protected Mistoffelees and Victoria from him by bringing them to the tribe for protection. Otherwise, Mistoffelees might have actually joined him when he was younger and more naïve. 

Bombalurina:

Her sister is Demeter and her mother is Grizabella. Grizabella abandoned them when they were kittens and unable to defend themselves. 

Rum Tum Tugger was her best friend when they were kittens, but through being his friend, she also grew close to his brother Macaity.

When Macavity left, he recognized how vulnerable and defenseless Bombalurina and Demeter were. He tricked hem into thinking they’d have safety and resources with him. The sisters worked for him for several years after that.

Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie joined a little bit after the sisters, and were younger than them. Quickly, the two sisters realized the twins had no one else and decided to treat them like younger siblings. 

After Bombalurina realizes Demeter is pregnant, she demands they leave and escapes with Demeter back to the tribe.

When they are accepted back, they quickly try to get Jerrie and Teazer allowed in as well. 

Once back, Bombalurina realizes she has feelings for Tugger. However, Tugger is totally taken with Mistoffelees. Initially, Bomba is jealous, but she gets over it eventually. 

She is fiercely protective of her sister. Their dens are adjacent to each other, and she even moves to a den closer to Demeter when Demeter moves in with Munkustrap.

Bomba is scared of having kittens of her own because she doesn’t want to end up being a bad mother like her mother was to her. That’s partly why she fell for someone irresponsible and unobtainable, because if she was with Tugger she wouldn’t have to worry about having too serious of a relationship. Despite all of her worries, she’s actually great with kittens without even realizing it. 

As much as Tugger likes to think he’s the favorite relative, Jemima secretly loves Bombalurina more.

Her closest friends are Tugger and the crime twins, as well as her family, but she’s also surprisingly close with Jenny, Jelly, and Coricopat. Her friendship with the two older queens comes from Bomablruina being forced to mature faster, but her friendship with Coricopat came as a surprise to everyone. 

Rumpleteazer:

She and Jerrie have the same human home in Victoria grove. They were Christmas presents for the kids in their family, however they were quickly forgotten about. The family still spoils them, but the family doesn’t pay nearly enough attention to them. 

Before they were taken in, they were strays just grabbed off the streets because they looked expensive. Nobody knows if they’re actually purebred, but they act like it anyways. 

Rumpleteazer’s favorite collar is her pearl necklace, which is actually just a bracelet. However, she has many other stolen bracelets she wears. Some of her other’s are a solid gold bracelet, a ruby bracelet, and a diamond bracelet for special occasions. However, she wasn’t given dinner the night she stole that one.

She hides all of her stolen jewelry in a striped pillowcase (also stolen). This is the same pillowcase she and Jerrie use as sacks during the ball. 

Her favorite chaotic activity is parkour, or anything that will get her from point A to point B in the most fun way possible. Her methods of choice are sliding down the banister, swinging from curtains, and using people and pillows as launch pads. 

Mungojerrie is actually a better thief than her, because she cannot keep a poker face or stay quiet during a heist. She often is the distraction to divert attention, causing a mess somewhere else. 

If they ever need to talk their way out of a situation, she does the talking. Mungojerrie always says the wrong thing.

They became wrapped up in Macavity’s nonsense when he saved them from some neighboring Pollicles they had upset. After that, they owed him their lives. They worked as messengers and thieves for a while, often the middle man for many exchanges. 

When Demeter and Bombalurina begged Munkustrap to let the crime duo join the tribe, Munkustrap and Alonzo went out in search of them. All six agreed it would be dangerous to let them in immediately, so they are allowed to stay whenever they want and join the tribe for the ball, but they can’t be permanent members until they officially leave Macavity. They try to help the tribe in return by acting as spies against Macavity, warning the tribe when he’s up to something.

Skimble and Jenny take care of them when they’re in the junkyard. Tugger would also die for them. However, many of the older cats don’t trust them still.

Jerrie and Teazer treat a younger queen Domoria (my oc) as a sort of younger sister to them.

Rumpleteazer has a huge crush on Victoria, despite Victoria being with Plato.

Her best friends are Victoria, Cettie, Bomba, Tugger, and Tumblebrutus. However, she gets along with all the kittens.

Jellicle-ho did this and now I also want to rank my favorite Cats. So I wrote this instead of writing about Sullivan.

Long Post Warning

To start with I don't hate/dislike any of them. The ones toward the bottom of the list tend to be ones I just think about less often, or don't feel like I connect to as well. Based on 1998 for simplicity's sake.

1) Munkustrap

My baby. Munk's always been my favorite from the very start. It's not just the hero thing, it's not just that Michael Gruber's a handsome mf, it's how he interacts with the others. He's so loving and protective, but at the same time so done with everyone's bullshit (when bullshittery occurs). And then there's the underlying anxiety issues we're all pretty sure he deals with that makes me just want to hug him. He just so clearly wants everyone to be happy and safe. It melts my heart how much joy he gets from seeing his tribe happy. Watch when Deuteronomy shows up in 1998, after he greets him himself (before which he steps aside so others can greet him first cuz he's a sweetheart), he spends most of the walk to the stairs soaking in how happy all the others are and being utterly overjoyed. Add to that his deep, devoted love for his father and how diligently he looks after him, his clear affection for his little brother Tugger despite being more done with his bullshit than anyone else's (Tugger don't touch the bagpip. Tugger no), his strong, tender bond with Alonzo and how smoothly they work together in a crisis, and his sometimes subtle, sometimes not-so-subtle crush on Demeter (notice that she's the only one other than Alonzo that HE approaches right before the Gumbie Cat and the only one he uses both hands to reach out to during that). Also his snark and sass, when he lets it out, is an utter joy. And I love the way he can assert his dominance with just a glance if the situation calls for it (watch him with Cassandra in Grizabella's first scene), but still rarely ever pulls rank like that. Overall he's a really fun character to watch for me, as well as to think about and (if I get around to it) write about.

2) Demeter

My other baby. (I'm so happy my two babies love each other). She's such a complex character. Her backstory of abuse and her current dealings with PTSD as a result are only the jumping off point. I love her moments of bravery, like jumping on Mac to protect the tribe despite everything she's been through. Courage isn't about not being afraid, it's about doing what needs to be done despite your fears. She's the most courageous member of the tribe and I love her so much. As for her relationships with the others, she has a much less subtle crush on Munk than he does on her, but she's so shy about it (and he's so damn polite) I doubt they'd ever get off the ground without a little help. She's so adorable in the way she looks at him, in 1998 she has a particular smile different from her other smiles that seems to be just for him. I also love her connection with Bomba, I feel like if she and Munk ever got off the ground it would be with Bomba's encouragement. Bomba is always there to hold her up when she feels small. While Munk makes her feel safe, Bomba makes her feel strong. So this is why Demelustrap is my OT3 thank you for coming to my TED talk.

3) Mungojerrie

Acts like a dumbass, is actually a genius. (Fight me). I love characters like this. Contradictions. Like brave strong Munk who is actually more emotionally vulnerable than he lets on, or nervous timid Demeter who bravely confronted the person she fears most. Mungo seems fundamentally clueless in most situations but I think he's just a carefree goofball, at least when the stakes are low. He and Teazer are both clever enough to get away with all sorts of mischief, and I don't think it's a "Teazer is the smart one" situation. I mean Teazer is probably smarter, but they need smarts on both sides. I also love how smoothly they work together as a team. Mungo ranks higher for those adorable "clueless" moments and for being a lovable goof.

4) Rumpleteazer

Acts like a bimbo, is actually a genius. To a lesser extent than Mungo in that she acts way less clueless than he does, and her antics are usually more obviously silliness rather than dumbassery. Would be higher but I just like Mungo's goofy aesthetic a bit more. I'd also like to take this time to note I do NOT think they are siblings. (Fight me. Again)

5) Mistoffolees

Another of those contradictions I love. He's simultaneously shy and showy, bold and insecure. He doesn't quite know who he is yet, but he knows who he wants to be. He's also adorable to watch, with his little hops and poses. His relationship with Tugger is adorable, whether you see them as mates or BFFs (both? both. both is good), and his obvious crush on Victoria is equally adorable (more NOT siblings!). The way he melts when she smiles at him toward the beginning of 1998 *sigh* so cute

6) Alonzo

Sorry @jellicle-ho I do love him lots, but he doesn't make the top five simply because I feel closer to Misto and the Chaos Twins (just an expression, not siblings!) on a spiritual level. He's still one of the best characters. He has his "contradiction" element of being cocky but somewhat insecure, and I especially love that he's just as serious as he is playful. He's also a slinky, sassy bastard and a blast to watch on stage.

7) Victoria

Woo boy. Okay first of all, since it seems to be a major factor, the contradiction element. She seems like a shy, reserved, almost demure young lady at first, but she's actually that quietly sassy serene girl at the Alpha bitch's lunch table, the one that's actually nice and doesn't participate in putting down the weird kid no one likes. But she's still gonna judge you. I love every moment of Victoria-sideeye in the 1998 video. And of course there's her whole side plot which basically revolves around her being extremely DTF, which is quite the opposite of "demure." Also her obvious crush on Misto is also adorable, the way she smiles at him, ugh like the only reason she danced with Plato instead is because Misto was too shy to approach her (also Plato has much better upper body strength so hey ho, hey hue, let's go Pas de Deux). She's also so very graceful and elegent and then there's her "omg why!?" flexibility which make her fascinating to watch.

8) Pouncival

Precious child. Precious little jackass brat. No but really I love him so much he's such a brat but also like he's tiny? And he wants to be cool sooo bad! The way he runs in for his "and bright!" all excited, I just can't. He has this sort of quiet, but enthusiastic demeaner of someone that knows he's not the star, but hopes to be, and he's bursting with energy in a pseudo-controlled way that I find more compelling than Etcetera's brand of enthusiasm. I love his acrobatics, whether they're super smooth, adorably clumsy, or straight up pratfalls. I love how 14-years-old he is. You can see him getting bored in that teenage "okay grampa you've told this story forty times already" kind of way during part of Gus's song. I love how adorably menacing he looks during the Naming of Cats. I just love the baby. He is very baby.

9) Bombalurina

She's beauty. She's grace. She'll smack you in the face. She's sexy and she knows it. She's such a confident, strong woman, and while she's the most overtly sexualized character, I kind of find it's even more empowering, you know? Like the idea that a woman can be both sexy and strong, she doesn't have to pick one. Bomba is walking proof that being strong, bold, and tough is not inherently "masculine," nor is protecting others. Don't get me wrong, I love strong female characters of all varieties, I'm not here to knock the tomboy trope, but when a strong female character is also sexually liberated it's just a different level of empowerment. Not just the deconstruction of "masculine/feminine" lines, but also in the "my body, my life, my choice" kind of way. Further, I absolutely love her relationship with Demeter. I personally support the mates, bffs, and siblings hcs because they honestly work so well as any of these (but as mentioned above, Demelustrap is my OT3, despite not always getting strong Bombastrap vibes). Her protectiveness and desire to comfort Demeter is so beautiful. Maybe it's the contradiction thing that I love so much. Strong, bold Bomba has her most tender moments when looking after Demeter. Idk. Moving on!

10) Rum Tum Tugger

He's beauty. He's… grace? He probably won't smack you in the face. He's sexy and he SO knows it. Tugger is walking proof that certain stereotyped "feminine" traits aren't inherently feminine, or to put it another way, he breaks down what it means to be "masculine." Think about it. Cares about his looks, beautiful luxurious long hair, wiggles his hips, wiggles his hips more, wiggles his hips when he walks, struts like a model on a runway, shakes his chest to be sexy, idolizes a cute boy, fashionable clothes (knee-bandana ftw!), all stereotypical "girly" traits, but would anyone describe Tugger as "girly"? Anyway, that's not even what I love most about him. I actually used to dislike him as a kid, but these days I can't get enough of him. Most of the time he just oozes positive vibes in one way or another, be it party vibes or laid back vibes. Most of his screentime in 1998 is such a good time because of that. He has such an energy and ferocity to him during his dance numbers, especially the second half of the Jellicle Ball in 1998. And then there's his quiet moments, especially the affection he shares with Munk while singing about their dad (omg the respect and affection he feels for both of them, coming from such a self-loving bastard it just ahhhhhh), and then after Deuteronomy comes back I just can't he's so sweet omg. Not to mention his whole relationship with Misto. Aside from the whole idolizing thing, which is adorable, he also is so supportive and encouraging. He just naturally bleeds confidence and good vibes, but he deliberately offers that confidence to Misto when he needs it. It's so beautiful and I'm gonna cry. I used to ship him with Bomba, but these days I hc them as friends with occasional benefits that like to place bets on how far interactions between Munk and Deme will go before one of them chickens out or gets awkward, and on which one will be the awkward chicken this time.

Wow I talked a lot about Tugger and he's only #10. Okay well, you folks ready to get controversial?

11) Macavity

I know I know, hear me out. I know most people interpret him as a total bastard with no redeeming qualities but like, I don't read him that way? Anyway I have complicated feelings about Mac but I'll get more into it in another post. As a character in the show I do really like him as a villain, I love his laugh, I love his "no look guys it's okay I brought him back see he's over there heheheh" gesture before he shows up in disguise, I love how show-boaty and "totally hyped for this" he is when he reveals himself, I love his "no wait please don't hurt me it's cool I'm leaving" gesture at Alonzo after the Jellicles start ganging up on him, he's just a blast of a character really, whether he's redemable or not.

12) Old Deuteronomy

Sweetest man you'll ever know. His compassion for the entire tribe is so sweet it hurts. He even feels love and understanding for Griz, and (futiley) tries to persuade the others to accept her, even subtley scolding them after the first "Memory" with his "Moments of Happiness." He loves his sons especially, and I adore every moment he interacts with either of them. He also can bring the sass, see his 'chin up' posture before Tugger bows to him, which I always read as them playfully teasing each other, or his little eye-roll when Munk gets a bit extra talking about the fire brigade. On that note, how into Munk's little play he is, even though it's going wrong. He keeps making encouraging gestures at Munk and reacting with surprise at the right moments (when Munk is looking at least lol). Anyway he's great moving on.

13) Jennyanydots

Jenny is that cool aunt that hangs out and has fun but also won't put up with your nonsense. She's so great I love her so much. She's honestly just a blast all the time I love her so much what can I say? I hc her as teaching Tumblebrutus how to sew. I don't know why.

14) Electra

Ah the "quiet" kitten. I read her as the tough tomboyish one of the girl kittens, and I hc her as sort of in training as a protector, and that's why she's more serious than the others. In 1998 she seems to look up to Munk, being the first to greet him before Gumbie Cat, and nuzzling him during Old Deuteronomy. 1998 Electra also has a lot of little adorable motions like licking her paws during Old Deuteronomy and retrieving the Peke paw from the middle of stage and than posing/playing with it during the Pekes and the Pollicles. I also love her freckles and her pink arm warmer. Massively underrated character.

15) Tumblebrutus

SPINNY. BALLET. BOI. Nuff said. But I'm gonna say more. He keeps up with Misto in ballet and exceeds Pounce in acrobatics, and as such is fascinating to watch. Also Brutus's struggle between his playful instincts and his desire to impress his elders is so adorable.

16) Admetus/George

First of all I first knew him as Admetus long long ago, and he will always be Admetus to me. Sorry. Second, omg this lovely, happy, wonderfully expressive boi. His face at literally any point in 1998 is such a gem.

17) Jemima

Speaking of great expressions, how bout Jemima? She's so cute and sweet! I love her whole deal of understanding Griz's pain and trying to get the rest of the tribe to understand. The only reason she's not higher up is because I somehow don't emotionally connect with her like I do some of the other kittens.

18) Coricopat

The more laid-back and playful half of the mystic twins. The twins in general are cool af, but Corico ranks higher for being more relatable.

19) Skimbleshanks

BUBBLY. TRAIN. DAD. Nuff said. Buttttt I'm gonna say more! Skimble is your best friend's dad that is always chaperoning on field trips but that's okay because he's actually pretty fun to be around most of the time. I love his cheerful expressions and his little jigs. His song is so much fun. And I love the relationship between him and Spara in 1998. More on that below

20) Asparagus

Okay so Spara is your other best friend's dad (or your best friend's other dad) who sometimes tries too hard to be cool and connect with the kids but that's okay because he's so nice and besides it's kind of adorable? What I find most adorable about Spara though is how hard he's crushing on Skimble. Like even if you hc them as already in a relationship, he really just can't get enough of Train Dad. Look at how Spara smiles at Skimble ALL THE DAMN TIME. He's practically blushing at multiple points during Skimble's song. And Skimble tends to gravitate towards Spara quite a bit, and omg that big grin he gives him during the line "sleeping car exprrrrreeesss!" I'm dead. In conclusion I need more Asparashanks content thank you for coming to my TED talk

21) Cassandra

I WANT to like Cassandra better than I do. I really really want to. But I feel like she's just so hard to get to know. I do enjoy her on stage, but as a character with backstory and motives she's a bit hard to work with. That being said she's by no means a flat character. I do hc her as one of the deputy protectors along with Alonzo, and more recently as part of the BFF power trio of her, Alonzo, and Munk, since Alonzo and much more subtley Munk are the only ones she shows any physical affection toward, aside from occasionally hanging out with T-brutus but we'll shelve that for now. I do really enjoy watching her though, she has some really interesting movements and expressions. And she does radiate a sort of "try me, I fucking dare you" vibe that I love a lot.

22) Tantomile

I have the same problem with Tanto that I do with Cass. I just don't feel like I know her very well. She is cool as a mystical psychic character, but that's part of what makes the twins in general cool. So far I haven't been able to connect to her as an individual without her brother, otherwise she would be much higher on this list. She's still cool though.

22) Plato

*Deep breath* okay. I don't dislike Plato. I just.. okay look out of the male kittens/young adults, he's my least favorite. He does have qualities that I really like, like how he's a shy reserved boy on the outside and a fiery passionate soul on the inside. That's cool. Also those intense expressions are pretty cool I guess. I guess I might have less positive feelings about him because everyone assumes Victoria's magically in love now because of the Pas de Deux even though they barely interact otherwise. Which is unfair of me to feel that way. I hc him as struggling with internalized anger and anxiety and having difficulty expressing himself.

23) Etcetera

I'll be honest, I used to find her annoying. This one's pretty much entirely on me, because she has a superficially similar demeanor to a girl that used to bully me in school. But since graduating Cety's grown on me a lot, not in small part due to her wonderful enthusiasm for literally everything. While less compelling to me than Pounce's quieter, more controlled flavor of energetic enthusiasm, her bouncy jubilance still makes me grin and giggle along with her, so that's a major plus.

24) Jellylorum

Jelly is your other cool aunt that worries too much about your safety but also has cool stories to tell and is always doing like art and stuff in her garage. I hc her as the tribe nurse. Would be higher if not for slight Karen-ness.

25) Gus

Only on stage for a short time but he shines. The way he starts out all helpless looking like he doesn't even know where he is and slowly blossoms into singing about his old days with enthusiasm, and then breaking down into tears. He's a great character for the scene that he's in, but unfortunately there's not a lot else to him, so he gets a low spot on the list

26) Grizabella

Oof. Okay so. I get it. She messed up. My hc is… well, complicated, but short version is she never planned on being a mom and has no idea how to be a mom, and so she just let Deut raise Munk and visited occasionally (ahem rarely), but she does end up later spending some time as his primary caregiver, and she fucks up royally, like massive neglect and mild emotional manipulation, and ends up emotionally damaging Munk more than if she'd left him alone. SO with this hc in mind, is she redemable? Idk. But the tribe forgave her so that's what matters. Do I feel sorry for her? Yes. Do I believe she honestly regrets her past actions? …kind of? Yes. Let's go with yes. Does any of this make her my favorite character? Not by a long shot. I have mixed feelings about Grizabella. I don't dislike her I just… don't know how to feel about her.

27) Bustopher Jones

Walking fat joke, but a pleasant walking fat joke. Wish we could have got to know him better than "that cultured fat guy all the toms want to impress." He's fun though. I love his expressions throughout his song, and that toodle-pip! is so adorable.

28) Exotica

Oh Exotica. Who even are you. We don't know you at all. I do like the moment in Old D's song when she's reaching from the outside of the crowd hoping to get to touch him, and he reaches out so she can, and immediately after touching him she drops her hand and backs away, which I read as shy fangirl overload flee the scene omg he touched me omgomgomg. So that was cute. Ummm. I wish she'd stop changing colors every three seconds so I could keep track of her. Other than that, I don't dislike her, I just don't know her well enough to like her.

When 2019 Misto gets home it takes him a while to get a full account of what he missed, but everyone is VERY INSISTENT that he should consider ballet. 98 Misto, meanwhile, contemplates a hat. (Also, a conversation: "Misto I met the other you and he was, like, baby." "Tugger, everyone was baby over there. MUNKUSTRAP was baby. He has a crush on the other me, it was amazing.")

2019 Misto conveniently leaves out that part about 1998 Tugger being absolutely obsessed with him, and it takes everything in him not to absolutely freak out when 2019 Tugger approaches him. (2019 Tugger is also trying to not freak out because oh no he liked 1998 Misto and now he’s realizing that oh no he really likes 2019 Misto)

1998 Munk switched with 2019 Munk!

1998 Munk almost cries because! everyone! does! what! they! are! told! Even Jerrie and Teazer! And everyone listens to him! And Tugger doesn’t cause nearly as much chaos! (but he soon realizes that he misses the chaos that everyone creates so he not-so-sneakily tells them that a little chaos is good once in a while. They are cats, after all.)

Meanwhile, 2019 Munk is Very Stressed Out because this version of Rum Tum Tugger is even HORNIER and they’re brothers??? But also, the other Misto is here and he liked him, so that’s very helpful. But also, he has a kitten? He is very confused, but he actually finds that he really likes everyone being so close-knit and he REALLY enjoys this version of Jenny because she seems very responsible, and she’s not eating cockroaches, so that’s a plus!

(but also, super angsty thought, the Bombas are switched. 1998 Bomba, who hates Macavity with her entire being and who has been traumatized by him, and so as her sister, and 2019 Bomba, who hates the Jellicles and adores Macavity.)

This is going to be a long headcanon, and I’ll probably regret writing it lol.

So clericalcats.tumblr.com encouraged me to talk about my headcanons for Bomba and Cass. (Ship name? Bombcass? Is that stupid lol)

Okay, so I have two ways that there relationship could start. It could either be that they both start it as a fling that they never intend to go too far, or Cass has this cute little crush on her, but pretends that she doesn’t. I know that she is already aloof and haughty, but I think that her crush makes her worse around Bomba.

In my first version of my headcanon, Bomba isn’t really in a relationship with anyone, but still really likes Tugger. Tugger likes her too, but is having fun playing the field, so he won’t settle down until he wants too, and he is absolutely shocked when later Bomba and Cassandra become actually serious and begin to label their relationship as, like, real.

Cass doesn’t actually like anyone. I don’t think she even wants to do this with Bomba at first because she’s afraid of actually starting to care about her. She’s just having fun, until she catches feelings, which is what she warned herself against in the first place.

In my second version of the headcanon, Bomba and Tugger are working out their relationship, and Tugger isn’t caring or putting in as much effort as Bomba, which makes Cass really upset. I think Demeter, who absolutely hates how Tugger treats her sister, figures Cass’s feelings out first. So Demeter is the one who always invites Cass to hang out with her. Cass confides in her, Rumpleteazer (because why not), and Munkustrap, who also only wants the best for Bomba (lol can you figure out who my favorite cat is).

One day, Demeter pretends to be sick or busy, so that Cass and Bomba can be alone. That night, Bomba gets fed up with Tugger, but tries to not let it consume her. She tries to get away from Tugger for a bit by going to Cass. They talk for a while, and Bomba gets onto the subject that Cass is never really with anyone (my headcanon is specific for this one lol) and so after awhile of Bomba pushing the conversation, Cass confesses that she’s in love with her, and Bomba is stunned because how could she have seen that coming. Cass runs away because she’s afraid that the silence is a bad thing.

Cass goes to Rumpleteazer because she needs to talk to someone and make sense of what had happened. I headcanon that she and Teazer somehow became friends, just because of Teazer’s ability to talk to anyone and I think that Cass finds that charming and adorable because Teazer is a bit younger than her. I think they’re such opposites, that their friendship would just work even though Cass may not approve of everything that Teazer does.

So anyways Cass is terrified and hysterical because I’m sure that she’s never allowed something like this to happen to her before. She’s always emotionally closed off, and even after all of this, I’m sure that she still will be to everyone with the exception of Bomba. She’s not used to gettin her heartbroken, like she thinks that she is, because she hadn’t let it happen to her before, and I don’t know if thats been unintentional, or not, but she’s closed off.

After sitting outside for a while longer, and contemplating what she is going to do, Bomba goes back to Tugger. When she is thinking, she realizes that a relationship with Cass is entirely impossible, but she remembers that she wanted things to work with Tugger. Her mind is so numb from thinking that she just goes back to Tugger and tries to deal with it for a while. After an hour or so, she realizes that she’s making a mistake, and in the middle of a conversation with Tugger, she runs away without saying anything and finds Cass.

And then they love each other forever lol.

1998 Film Tugger Rewatch: What Have We Learned Today?

Tugger is the younger brother of Macavity and Munkustrap, and the older brother of Alonzo and George. Alonzo is actually the same age. Tugger’s a son of Old Deuteronomy while Alonzo isn’t. Cat litters can be mixed like that.

Tugger lives in the same house as Demeter, Bombalurina, Jemima, and Mistoffelees. He had many different homes before that, because his human owners often lost patience with him and gave him away. His current human family are sort of crazy cat people who don’t care what their cats do as long as there are no mice in the house.

He acts like a himbo, partying and sleeping around, but he’s smarter than most give him credit for. He pays a lot of attention to his surroundings and knows a lot about the cats he frequently sees. He was the only cat in his house who really paid attention to Mistoffelees and thus the only cat who noticed just how powerful his magic was.

Tugger and Bomba have a sort of off-again-on-again thing going. Since cats aren’t usually monogamous, neither one ever thought to take it seriously. Their humans are actually hoping that they’ll have kittens. They won’t.

Tugger fell in love with Misto when he used his magic to open the door to the garden. Neither one knew it at the time, but in hindsight, that’s probably when it happened. He kept making Misto let him out and in from the garden at two o’clock in the morning because he wanted his attention and Misto often deliberately ignored him, possibly so Tugger would have to keep trying to earn his attention. That’s part of what keeps Tugger invested. He loses interest in anything that’s given to him, but not what he has to get for himself. Misto has always kept him working and so he never gets bored of him.

Since it’s so easy for Tugger to attract mates, and then immediately lose interest in them, he’s usually more invested in finding mates for other cats. He mentors Alonzo, George, Plato, and occasionally Mungojerrie in how to flirt with queens. Since he lives in the same house as Demeter, he set her up with Munkustrap. He saw how stressed out his brother was and came to the conclusion that he needed to get laid. Munkustrap wouldn’t want a queen who Tugger discarded and Demeter was one of the few queens in Tugger’s age range that he hadn’t slept with. She’s uncomfortable around men who seem chaotic. They remind her of Macavity. But, Munkustrap is a responsible family man who respects and gets along with his elders, so he’s not like Macavity at all.

All the female kittens have some sort of crush on Tugger, even though two are his nieces. Jemima most likely doesn’t know that and Electra might be in denial. Tugger has no interest in sleeping with any of them, but he enjoys their attention.

Among the male kittens, Plato also has a crush on Tugger. Plato also has a crush on Victoria and Tugger coaching him on how to talk to her just made him love him even more. Victoria and Plato both having crushes on Tugger is something they bond over. Pouncival might as well, but it also might be an extreme case of hero worship. Pouncival will do pretty much anything Tugger says without question, though Pouncival has a habit of following around older boys and not asking questions, so it’s not just Tugger.

Tumblebrutus also hero worships Tugger, but he’s not quite as obsessed as the other boys. Considering how obsessed the other boys are, that’s not saying much.

It’d be easier to list queens who don’t have a crush on Tugger. Even Jennyanydots might, though she still disapproves of his influence on the youth and would rather die than admit that she might find him slightly attractive.

Out of his fanclub, Tugger himself is only really interested in Bombalurina, though he also finds Cassandra hot. But, he loves attention, positive or negative, from everyone.

Despite enjoying the spotlight, Tugger values his independence. He keeps to himself and watches things unfold from a distance, only getting involved when he’s really bored or has something to say. He usually doesn’t like to be touched, but he’s fine with it if he initiates it. Basically, when he says he doesn’t care for a cuddle, it means that he doesn’t like to be cuddled. He will occasionally cuddle with cats he likes, but only on his own terms. It has to be his idea.

So, the next rewatch was difficult to sort out. I wasn’t sure whether to do it as one rewatch or two, but these two characters do enough by themselves to get their own rewatches. The next two rewatches will be for Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. But, in the chaotic spirit of the pair, I’m going to start with Rumpleteazer. It’s always Jerrie and Teazer, not Teazer and Jerrie, so I’ll be confusing by reversing it.
