Introduction Post 🤎
Hi, everyone! I wanted to introduce myself since this account is new.
I’m Tea! I’ve been a Tolkien fan for a little over twenty years and have been following news about The Rings of Power since Amazon bought the rights in 2017. I also run a Tolkien (book-focused) website called Tea with Tolkien, which is my primary platform.
I started to get involved with The Rings of Power in May 2022 when I was invited to join about 30 other Tolkien creators for a first look at the series in London. Among other things, we saw some early footage and got to chat with the showrunners etc. After that trip I was initially skeptical of the series and felt I didn’t understand the premise for the series well enough, but was open-minded and still relatively excited.
As season one was airing and I was finally able to wrap my mind around this series as being a genuinely new take on Tolkien, I grew to love it. It’s not perfect or without issues, but it’s been a real gift to be able to return to Middle-earth in this way.
On this account, I’ll share news, analysis, memes, artwork, and general series-related content. Thank you for reading and for following along! ☕️

The final scene between Galadriel and Celebrimbor is literally my favorite in maybe the whole show, their relationship is so important to me. The understanding and the guilt that they share, I’ll never not be thinking about it. And yes the clips from the prologue I used are very much inspired by @teawithtrop’s headcanon about the little redhead kid being a young Celebrimbor

Thanks for tagging me @dragon--ashes! I almost died with happiness over your Ian McKellen lore drop - what a lovely story!
I was introduced to Tolkien through the Hobbit which was the most clever thing I had ever read before as an eight year old. I remember being obsessed with Tolkien's language and the way he applied his words, in particular the riddles in the dark sequence with Gollum and the scene where Bilbo provokes the spiders. It changed the game for me reading wise and made me interested in writing. Thorin was my first love because he was a proud bastard, and boy did I relate.
The trilogy followed next, books and movies. Then the Silmarillion. Then everything else.
But I'll forever be grateful to "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit" for pulling me into the professors universe. The amount of happy hours I have spent in it could never be repaid in money.
Tagging @elbereth-gilth0niel @greenwaters2 @mcpayne @teawithtrop @starsofwater @marshmellin @saubrimbor and anyone else who loves Tolkien and wants to share!!!
Okay.

Something that brings all of us together is our love for Tolkien's work, and its spinoffs.
So, question: What got you into Tolkien?
I'll start.
When I was 12, my father urged me to read The Hobbit. So I did, and I was mesmerized by it, to the point where I'd stay up in the middle of the night to read it. I never got beyond that, though.
Two years ago, I decided to reread it, and I fell in love all over again with the story, characters, Tolkien's writing style, everything. So I decided to read The Lord of the Rings. I got the first book, read a couple of chapters.. and gave up. It was too verbose, too prosaic.
The next year, that is, a few months later, I tried my hand at it again. This time, I got through four chapters, but I still couldn't read the rest. Then.. I began crushing on a guy who'd read it, and so I grit my teeth and went for it. I read, and read, and this time, I found myself enjoying it. Bonus, the guy and I got into conversation.
After finally finishing the first book, I even started the second, and watched the first movie with my family. (By way of flirting I asked the guy whether he liked PJ's Trilogy, and he told me he "found them low budget" so that, um, ended. I'm no longer crushing on real people.)
I read the second, the third book, reread The Hobbit a third time, watched all the movies, and joined Tumblr. Then I got motivated to read The Silmarillion. I'm currently working on that, as well as my Tolkien collection.
Honestly, one thing that fuels my love for the work is all my lovely mutuals who I've gained through this love.
