we need more speech and debate au fics. oh sports au? how about the sport of the mind. this is peak academic rivals to lovers. how about competing against your years-long rival in every tournament where your job is to prove how wrong they are in a 5 min speech? the tension. yes lay out your arguments and then watch as i refute them all and then make out with me

The only way to enjoy this sport is to never have any fun. By the way. You cannot ever enjoy anything that happens on the track.

haikyuu or blue lock?
haikyuu was the first anime that i had ever watched, as well as being the first manga i had ever finished. it was introduced to me by my close friend and i started reading it thinking "whats so hype about a simple sport?" and then ended playing volleyball for three years after being influenced by the story. its very generic, and has a lot of points like teamwork and personal conflicts that are involved, which makes it a typical sports anime. its considered as one of the best sports anime out there, and there are very few that compete with it.
among the very few is blue lock, which actually only came out a year ago. i started reading it a few weeks ago and i've already finished all 245 chapters. i was like, "no way a sports anime about soccer can live up to haikyuu" hoo boy i was wrongggg. haikyuu and blue lock are simply incomparable. while haikyuu demonstrates the power of teamwork, blue lock is more focused on the overall ego and personal goals of each character. in blue lock, every character looks like they are the main character because they technically are the main character. they all basically have the same dream, and through 'blue lock', they are willing to take great measures to achieve it.
blue lock and haikyuu are two amazing sports anime. haikyuu is the typical sports anime, while blue lock brings in a whole new concept into the sports world with a very clear message: focus on yourself and your ego. its only you that is going to make it to the top. meanwhile haikyuu is: together, as a team, we can work our way towards our goal. both are great and i believe that:
blue lock = haikyuu
what do you think?

iwaoi and oh it's you. every time it's you. I'm running I'm running my knee is killing me but it's worth it this is worth it I'm running past the line and I'm pointing straight at you and everyone can see it. because it's you who else would it be right at this moment it's you it has to be you. win or lose it has to be you. going pro or not going pro it will always have been you. I'm running and I'm making the longest most monstrous set of my life and it's up to you, I'm falling and crashing into the tables and I can barely feel it, I'm scrambling back to our stage and who else could it be right at this moment but us. win or lose. win or lose. six who are strong together are stronger six who are strong together are stronger who else could it be but us. who else would I choose right in this moment when we all know it's going to end one way or another. who else would I choose. but you. every time it's you.

i'm sorry if you genuinely think bozzi and leclerc "copied the other driver/engineer's strategy" i canttttttt take you seriously
#do any of you understand how this team shit works. how this pre-race strategy meetings team shit works.#or calling this win 'lucky' be for reallllllll#i dont generally go for the block button but that should be an immediate block#its just fascinating the thought processes required to avoid admitting some of these guys are just good at their jobs#possibly better than others.#there's thoughts in me about the ways fandom 'character analysis' trends intersect with the way people talk about f1 on tumblr/twitter#while just completely forgetting or ignoring not just the competitive sports of it all but the very real ways the teams operate#did you guys know ferrari has a whole 'remote garage' of engineers in italy that tune in every race just to analyse data in real time#and feed back possible strategies to the pit wall that then get discussed and acted on based on drivers feedback?#do you GENUINELY think its just bryan bozzi leaning over fred's shoulder to copy adami's homework#you know ferrari has their very own hannah schmidt? maybe not as good as her but there's a dude in there whose job is 'tell us what to do'#maybe you could learn his name it might be helpful#sorry AND ONE MORE THING#how do you call yourself a leclerc fan and then turn around to call this a lucky win#it required outqualifying his teammate#it required taking advantage of the situation around him to jump lando at la roggia#it required sticking close to both mclarens in dirty air and taking a gamble on the early pit stop#it required 37 LAPS ON HARDS THAT NEVER WENT BELOW OR ABOVE 1:23:000 EXCEPT ONCE#and yes it required required teamwork. as most wins do unless you have a rocket under your ass (and/or don't know how to use it)#the only lucky part was lando once again fumbling the first lap and george taking himself out at turn 1#but you understand he still had to drive the rest of the 52 laps himself right. god#its too early for me to be this mad

also i can't even pinpoint one thing i really like - like it's all different reasons lmao
prince of tennis - fucking unintentionally hilarious movie, it's a trip and it's a musical lmao.
the first slam dunk - visually stunning movie which engrosses you in the basketball game.
haikyuu the dumpster battle - banging soundtrack, action that keeps you watching the game for the results.
blue lock - a really interesting and darker twist on sports anime, not afraid too have a lot of asshole main characters.

ok, so i have three levels of sanity when it comes to theories about jeremy knox:
the sane theory: jeremy's fall banquet drama had to do with him being outed (i'm leaning towards shitty sibling who did it because cat says, "...there’s bound to be a jerk or two once you pass four kids.”) and facing criticism for being gay and being made captain. which lead to all the other queers on the team either outing themselves in solidarity or throwing in their support for jeremy. and it ended up being a whole Thing - maybe like a brawl (one that would make neil and riko's fight at the winter banquet look like 5-year olds batting at each other) that had to be broken up by cops arresting people. which is why they're all in jeremy's inner circle and why kevin's all "it'll be easier if he remains heterosexual". (bonus if the reason kevin knows is because jeremy told him and not because the press found out)
slightly bonkers, soap opera theory: jeremy sex-scandal. someone on the team got mad at jeremy because they were passed over for captain. they happen to have insider knowledge that jeremy might prefer men so they set jeremy up using some guy (who is in on it) to entrap him for blackmail material. the disgruntled teammate already has incriminating photos and videos of jeremy with this guy which he anonymously threatens jeremy with, saying they'll send it to his very uptight and very political family. jeremy refuses to give in and give up the captaincy and his family receive the photos and videos. they give him shit for it and try to pressure him to give up or at least to sue the guy in the photos/video with him. jeremy refuses because he doesn't think this guy is the one threatening him and because he's kinda, maybe, dating this guy now. anyway at the fall banquet, the disgruntled teammate exposes jeremy with photos in the hopes that throwing mud on jeremy's reputation will get him taken off as captain. the rest proceeds as with the previous theory.
batshit crazy theory: surprise! the disgruntled teammate from before was actually jeremy's no-longer-mentioned sibling. and they've actually had a toxic and rather cutthroat relationship for a long time. like it sounds like jeremy's family are generally assholes so maybe he was like that too when he was around them. and he's pulled nasty shit to get one over on his sibling before. and actually his sibling was under a lot of pressure from their parents for not being as good at anything as their older brothers and now jeremy is getting picked as captain over them. they weren't pitted against one another but it certainly felt to them that jeremy and the rest of their family was out to see them fail. so they blackmail jeremy and their whole family. and when he's arrested, the whole family blames jeremy for siding with his team rather than keeping this between their family. and his sibling blames him for having made their entire life miserable, rubbing his success in their face and being a dickhead about it. jeremy can't even really deny that and he feels guilty about it. and actually they drop the charges on their sibling but their sibling quits school, leaves home and cuts the knoxes out of their life completely. (i'd love for this to be the case if only to get jean's reaction of, "it was not your fault. they sold you out to appease their ego. it's inexcusable and petty behaviour. My parents, at least, meant to pay off debts when they sold me." and then jeremy being like, "...they WHAT!? wait, no, you get how that's worse right???" )

The Birth of Volleyballet
Where Sport and Elegance Converge
By Laura Turner, Special Correspondent
A remarkable photo has recently captured the attention of the sports world. It depicts two young ladies, both clad in sportswear and tutus, gracefully maneuvering on the court. But what initially appears to be an unusual combination of ballet and sport reveals itself as the latest innovation in competitive sports: Volleyballet.
Inspired by the elegance of ballet and the competitive intensity of volleyball, a group of visionary sports enthusiasts has developed a new variant that merges both elements. Volleyballet challenges players to propel the ball over the net using graceful movements borrowed from ballet. Players not only harness their physical strength but also their grace and fluidity to direct the ball with ease and precision.
"Volleyballet is a unique blend of sport and art," explains Dr. Emily Harris, one of the co-founders of this burgeoning sport. "It requires not only athletic prowess but also an understanding of rhythm, balance, and aesthetics. It's a challenge for the players and a visual spectacle for the audience."
The development of Volleyballet was no easy feat. For months, the founders worked tirelessly to refine the rules, design the court, and develop gameplay strategies. But their efforts have paid off as Volleyballet has already attracted a growing fan base and is eagerly anticipated by sports enthusiasts worldwide.
"It's fascinating to see how this new sport is evolving," says Marko Ramirez, an avid sports fan. "Volleyballet combines the beauty of ballet with the excitement of competitive sports in a way I've never seen before. I can't wait to experience a game live!"
With the introduction of Volleyballet, the world of sports is enriched with another exciting avenue for movement, competition, and entertainment. It serves as a reminder that innovation and creativity can continually create new pathways to push the boundaries of possibility and inspire us.
