Hurricane Dorian was the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history. Dorian struck the Abaco Islands on September 1 with maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h). Dorian went on to strike Grand Bahama at similar intensity, stalling just north of the territory with unrelenting winds for at least 24 hours. The resultant damage to these islands was catastrophic; most structures were flattened or swept to sea, and at least 70,000 people were left homeless. The official death toll stands at around 60; yet approximately 1200 people (government suggests about 400) are unaccounted for. The Abacos and Grand Bahama are still in need of relief and support. The islands economies are in ruins and really need your help. The Red Cross is okay but they aren't always the best organization for a disaster of this magnitude. Please consider teamrubiconusa.org. You can give money straight to Harvey relief. This organization uses veterans and the work is a type of therapy for many of them. #harvey #hurricaneharvey #houston #texas #charity #disasterrelief #teamrubiconusa #teamrubicon

I’ve been doing some work recently for a non-profit working on hurricane relief in Texas, TeamRubiconUSA. I consider myself mostly a paid search guy, but amidst a pretty chaotic week, I’ve found myself helping out running paid social campaigns on a variety of platforms, including Facebook Ads. http://ift.tt/1IPpdQi

Elaine came into the Emergency Operations Centre one morning looking for help gutting and taking all her wet and soggy furniture out of her destroyed home. We spent a few hours clearing Elaine's home when we were joined by the wonderful Jamaican Defence Force. Whilst clearing all her wet and sodden personal possessions, I was lucky enough to discover Elaine's sons wedding photos among the rubble. To see the smile on Elaine's face as I handed her the photo album reminded me why I went out to Abaco in the fist place.
