Repost from @teamterpene ⚠️ Kickin off your Macro Monday with the fungus gnat... 😱 Studying our plants closely we came across this guy caught up in the secreting glandular trichomes. Fungus gnats look like tiny flies buzzing around cannabis plants, especially around the soil. Their larva grows in wet soil, and they often appear when the topsoil stays wet for too long between waterings. They infest the soil and decomposing organic matter. The larvae feed off this and also eat roots hairs of your new marijuana seedlings or your growing plants. Fungus gnat damage stunts growth and can start to turn leaves yellow.  The plant slowly dies as the roots cannot uptake the nutrients and water it needs due to root damage. No, we don’t have an infestation and no we don’t see gnats buzzing around our plants, but running moist living soil you may come across these little guys from time to time. Not to worry, folks, the Team stays on top of our Integrated pest management or IPM, with the help of @botanicaltinctures. We alternate between the Lemon Mint, RSO, Ritha, Aloe, Sprouted and Neem tonics once or twice a week making sure we hit all parts of the plant including the stems and even the tops of the soil. We foliar sprayed with 1/4 teaspoon Ritha tincture in 16 oz of water split between the two pots in bloom and the two pots in veg as well. #Repost @teamterpene The Cube, bred by @exoticgenetix_mike, on harvest day 60. Reeks like a complex blend of vanilla, wintergreen, molasses and sassafras with mouth watering cherries. From what we read, this legendary beast is what Exotic Genetix is using as their male on newer crosses. They took their Starfighter F2 and "cubed" it to further solidify their genetics. This extremely rare beauty was gifted to us by our very good friend @tuktuk626 and the reason we had the privilege to have her presence in our garden.🙏🏽 4 of the 5 seeds planted in this 30 gallon, third cycle, no till pot rooted and vegged for 8 weeks. 1 of the 4 plants ended being female. 💃🏼 The 3 male plants were cut at the base, leaving the root balls in the soil, and applied as mulched. This plant material, including the roots, was broken down by our living soil and delivered the nutrients to our plant. This mulch eventually diminished so we replaced it with nettles, comfrey, neem leaf and dandelion leaf, holy basil, alfalfa and hay keeping the layer 1-2 inches thick at all times. Plain water was applied to our soil by our which keeps the soil consistently moist and one compost tea was applied which help power through bloom. Simple as pouring plain water into a pot, folks. Volunteer left, strawberry guava fem. center by @oninoodles @oni_seed_co Plant on right is a male not related. ..............-------------..........The best part of coming legalization is that everyone can grow some plants. I'm not sure how this in turn will affect ornamental varietals but if nothing else we can grow four outside for fun. :). Should be interesting seeing if people partake next year or not. Unless it's only indoors it's allowed, not sure. Have my own regulations so not really too concerned. 🤓👍 Pollinated this lady with the gent beside again today. Takes a few days from what I see to have another build up of pollen, was also windy today otherwise would've waited a bit. But all the pollen from first and this shed I collected and blew over the female. New pistils are forming so can keep making seeds for a few weeks. Then I will wait the thirty days give or take for ripening of the seeds. Microbial Efficiency Matrix Stabilization or MEMS, is a relative function to relate plant litter decay to stable SOM formation. It states that labile (easily chemically changed) organic sources like fibrous roots and herbaceous greens form more stable SOM faster than woody, more fibrous organic matter. Why? Because SOM is formed by microbial byproducts, not decomposed plant matter, so the faster and easier something is to digest and break down the more it mineralizes through more microbes and the faster it turns into byproducts like enzymes & polysaccharides Although its controvercial to common belief, it makes sense if you think about it. "This framework leads to the hypothesis that labile plant constituents are the dominant source of microbial products, relative to input rates, because they are utilized more efficiently by microbes. Pepper update. Wow these things like the livings soils I've had rejuvenating since last fall, some of the peppers are in pots (mostly nursery but one in a 15g smart pot and is quite happy, really happy in fact) and were moved onto soil late but they must've rooted in some too because I have only top dressed them all with earth worm castings and watered in some AACT. Few of them but limited the last little while. One watering of humic/Fulvic and seaweed powder. Which everything seemed to like in terms of veggies. -we had a really warm spring but late cold late spring 🤔. The peppers were small going out and could've waited since the cold came back, but they managed to survive and come back with a vengeance. The tomatoes were much larger going outside and were also buried up to the top apical stem, which is always interesting, I do believe it helped get quite a mass of root system on the plant. #l .......--------....... I like peppers more than tomatoes, maybe I should focus more on that route🤔 haha. Or both as they also grow well. Had some eggplant seeds too but got too disorganized this spring. Next year I'll have more colours. ;). It has taken a long time to thoroughly test her, line breed her, and cross her to many other elite strains, some my personal favorites. She is absolutely saturated with a sweet and fuely nose, with ridiculous potency. She is the most thc rich strain I have bred. She is a building block of two custom projects I am working on for @1stladyofthewestcoast and @goderlifestyle_new_mexico , and will reach final fruition for me in #quadratickush. These are going to be titan strains. I will never be one of the biggest. I dont want to be. I am very small. I just want to do what I love and provide for my family. What I am capable of however, has been proven to many people, over many years, time and again. I put the highest level of meticulous focus and care into all aspects of my work with cannabis, and everything I do. The same focus that gained me respect among peers in martial arts since childhood. Love for my family, friends, and fellow humans, discipline, and right intention propel me forward. I have always done what I do with pride and passion because I know it is right, and it brings me and others happiness. For me breeding strains is like writing music. It is an art form. Art is human expression. I have been enjoying cannabis and it's flavors for so long, when I make strains it is a homage to works from others that have made positive impact on me.The same way musicians are inspired by those before them. "Squishy, I shall call it squishy, maybe we will squish it and squish and smoke it" Another update, because they're pretty. 😎. Have been only watering with plain or bubbles water, (I also recycle dehumidifier water most of the time), for last week or so and will continue until the end. ... Temps are running 27-30 day and trying to get low as possible for nights, which has been 22-23 coldest so far. Currently do not have an AC in the grow. Nor will I. I will build a "lung room" that I can draw cold air from, and also pull to other rooms at same time; like the drying and veg room. Co2 is still ambient. Lights are on from 6:45 to 5 lately. And I try to allow the room to warm for few hours prior to lights on, as well as first two hours (if not going over exhaust limits automatic). I cool a little more nearing lights off which the first set turns off half hour prior to the second. Slow transitions of and when possible. :). And also get a proper monitoring device. Throw away your thermostat 10$ POS devices. High low tells u two things. 🤔. Min and max. Well when was that? Or why? I use sensor push. So far have been working great and have multiples. Have seen other units as well. Learn vapor pressure deficit. And grow by it and or the same reactions to plants in the environment. When numbers are combined with ones ability to watch and learn the process. One is able to confirm theories as well as teach others who will never gain that horticultural understanding. Skills are taught, passion is grown.
