Here’s How to Get Spooky For Halloween
That’s right, folks! It’s officially Halloweek, and if you’re looking for festive cocktails, menus, parties and more, then you’ve come to the right place. Check out our list of the Halloween activities happening this week.
Watch The Horror Classics at Logan Theater
Logan Theater (2646 N. Milwaukee Ave.) is hosting its seventh annual Horror Movie Madness series throughout October, including classics like “The Shining” today at 8 p.m., “Nosferatu” and “Halloween.” The whole family is invited to Logan Theater’s FREE Halloween Family Matinee double feature today at 2 p.m. This year’s matinee will feature the 1979 animation of “Casper Saves Halloween” and the 1966 classic “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
The Logan Theatre will host a free Halloween double feature today at 2 p.m.
Oct. 28: Join in For the 15th Annual Logan Square Halloween Parade
Check out the annual Halloween parade starting at the Centennial monument happening today at 5 p.m. This year, the parade route runs down Kedzie to Fullerton and loops back to the monument. Kids in costume will be treated to warm apple cider and cookies courtesy of Lula Cafe. Parade participants are expected to gather at 5:00 p.m.
Oct. 29: Merchant Dresses As Your Favorite Tarantino Films
Photo courtesy of C|Louise Public Relations.
Now through Halloween, Merchant (3137 W. Logan Ave.) is transforming into a different Quentin Tarantino classic each night of the week. This includes a “Jackie Brown” funky brunch based on the 70’s-esque film from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. happening now. On Halloween night, expect the restaurant to be decked out as a “Natural Born Killers” themed spot, with tarot card readings and drink specials.
Nov. 1: Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos With the Whole Family
Celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed at CLEO event’s second annual Dia De Los Muertos party at The Joinery (2533 W. Homer St.) from 6 to 9 p.m. Festivities will include a DJ, local food, drinks, games and movies. This event is family-friendly and it’s FREE with registration! The first 100 kids to arrive will receive a free goodie bag.
Oct. 30: Test Your Potter Knowledge at Park and Field
Show off your knowledge that separates you from the mere muggles of the world. Park and Field (3509 W. Fullerton Ave.) will host a full trivia night dedicated to the magical world of Harry Potter. Trivia starts at 8 p.m. and don’t forget to arrive in your best Hagrid costume (or whoever is your spirit character).
Oct. 31: Show Off Your Spooky Knowledge of Horror Movies at Navigator Taproom
Navigator Taproom (2211 N. Milwaukee Ave.) will be summoning all horror aficionados for a horror movie trivia night on Halloween. Navigator will award prizes to winning teams, and to winning costumes.
Oct. 31: Halloween Show with Ziggy Stardust, Hearts and Wands, PR Newman at D.C. Torium
DIY venue D.C. Torium (3026 W. Armitage Ave.) is hosting more shows this year and will have a Halloween event with Hearts and Wands, PR Newman and the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust. It’s a big dance party with a $5 suggestion donation and BYOB.
Oct. 31: Hallow’s Ween HELLTRAP NIGHTMARE Comedy Show with Mister Wallace
Get spooked with comedy and music at the Hideout’s Halloween event Hallow Ween’s HELLTRAP NIGHTMARE comedy show. HELLTRAP NIGHTMARE was recently named “Best Underground Comedy Show in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine, “some truly off-kilter shit” by LA Weekly. With sketches by at least six Chicago comics and drop-ins, surprises and musical guests Mister Wallace, the night could have you squirming for more (or less). The notable local comic Sarah Squirm is hosting the event. Tickets are $12 and the show starts at 9 p.m.
The Hideout is decked in decor for Halloween and will be even spookier for the comedy show night. Here, GIRL K performed Oct. 12. Photo: Ariel Parrella-Aureli
