I'm thinking in terms of actual real life experiences I've had when I say this, but I'd imagine part of what makes being a Thor enjoyer so frustrating in 2024/MCU's phase 4+ era is that... you're effectively not allowed to enjoy your favorite superhero.
I once had a conversation with a close friend of mine during a casual outing, and without going into very many details, this particular person is an enjoyer of Ragnarok, and enjoys Tailka's work overall. Now, I should say right off the bat: there is nothing wrong with these opinions. Everyone is entitled to like what they like and enjoy the work of creators just the same as other people are allowed to dislike them. For this particular post, I'm not here to get into fandom wars or "reasons why taika waititi is a terrible director" beef. I have other posts in line for that. But what I will say is that I already knew this about my friend, so it never surprised me when the topic of Thor came up that it would be a point of disagreement.
The issue I've found that continues to circle in the general space of "being a Thor fan" came when I expressed that I don't like Ragnarok, I do think Thor was funnier (and just better overall) before Ragnarok and therefore Taika's involvement, and quite frankly Taika had very little business taking on the mantle of director of a superhero franchise he has never liked or understood in his life just because he had mouths to feed. (There are other opportunities to fulfill that. And filmmakers know going into this industry that it's all gig-based and - if they're smart anyways - work around that.) I hadn't even gotten a chance to go through all of the reasons WHY I feel that way, of which I have had before compiled an organized list of about 16 talking points off the top of my head, so as far as that particular discussion goes... it didn't go anywhere. We were busy at the time.
But namely what I want to talk about is this:
The response I was given, in summary, was something along the lines of "well I think Thor was boring, and he wasn't my cup of tea, so I'm glad he changed."
But, you see, there's just ONE small issue with that: Thor isn't meant for everyone.
In fact, no character is meant for everyone. So why is it that Thor needs to change to be "for everyone" and be the MCU normies' "cup of tea" when no other character has to? Why does he need to lose his core identity (both as a character, as a franchise, you name it, it's been done) just because people like my friend don't understand him as well as Tony Stark or Spider-Man? And why should Thor fans have tow watch their favorite superhero get stripped down and turned into something completely divorced from the character, world and cast we were first involved with from the beginning?
Nobody at any point has been able to answer me that besides "well just because I didn't like Thor personally."
Iron Man won't appeal to everyone. Neither does Captain America, neither does Spider-Man, beloved as even Spidey is. They have their own quirks, their own villains, their own storylines... Every superhero has a core to them that their stories revolve around. He's from DC, but Superman, for instance, has the core of: love, justice and the American Way. Therefore, his stories revolve around challenging that core, and making Superman prove it. Steve Rogers/Captain America has a similar core. Justice, freedom and the American Way, is what I'd mostly boil his core down to. Thor's is "love" all around. I've written about that '(here)' in my post about his 2011 themes. Maybe it's different for other fans, but for me personally? I adore that about Thor. It's one of the many reasons I'm drawn to him over any other marvel Super besides Spider-Man. (not you tom holland ... yes you andrew garfield...)
So when I go to Thor for entertainment, I'm going to him above the other superheros because I want a story that revolves around HIS core and how Thor goes about reckoning with his challenges. I also go to MCU Thor specifically for his quiet, kind, regal nature. I come to him for his gravitas, his passion, his relationships with his cast of companions.
I go to him for high-sci-fi action/adventure, or for the "what if we took norse mythology and made it an alien superhero" route they took him in for the MCU. I go to Thor because he IS different from the rest of the Avengers... and that's the point.
So when someone says to me: "Well Thor wasn't for me so I'm glad he changed", or "Well I really liked Ragnarok because Thor kind of become more in line with the other Avengers"... they're fundamentally missing the point of why Thor has a fanbase at all.

seeing people genuinely complain about the deaths in the acolyte and throwing around words like cruel and sadistic just once again has me thinking people need to actually sit and ponder on where a story is going and if it's something they can handle watching. nothing about the acolyte has implied it's anything besides a murder mystery, and features an entirely new cast of characters — something that, the last time we saw this in live action, ended in them all dying. just because something belongs to a franchise you love, doesn't mean you have to watch it, or that it has to be your cup of tea. It also doesn't make it bad storytelling if it's too brutal for your liking. The internet gives you every opportunity to make an informed opinion on what you consume, ultimately it's your responsibility, not the show's, to cater to what you can handle.

man about town interview | spring/summer 2014
Tumblr media
for the tweam! click through for my best attempt at deciphering this (maybe impossible to find?) throwback interview
‘’I don’t think I’m scary at all. It was kind of funny watching myself being scary. Because I’m not scary.’’ Says Evan Peters, the up-and-coming up-for-anything actor best known for his extreme roles on American Horror Story, the prestige television series that treats social taboos as map points. For three seasons, Peters has excelled at playing against his offbeat boyishness by amping up his young Malcolm McDowell intensity, with results that fall somewhere between ‘’teen dream in strangler’s gloves’’ and ‘’terrifying Michael Cera.’’ He most recently appeared in American Horror Story: Coven as Kyle Spencer, the good-natured university student who is decapitated and then reanimated with the body parts of his Kappa Lambda Gamma brothers as a temperamental Rocky Horror who beats his sexually abusive mother to death with a trophy.
Tumblr media
Over a bold chai tea with stevia, at a restaurant in Venice, California, Peters is lighthearted and dryly humorous, like a young Michael Shannon, with whom he should costar in a successful disturbing family sitcom. He wears black jeans, a well-worn t-shirt under a plaid flannel, and a necklace with a toy dinosaur pendant. He drives a 2004 Pontiac Vibe that he correctly describes as ‘’vintage’’; says that he just feels like growing his longish blond hair into a ponytail, and has a red thumbs-up permanently inked onto the to pof his right hand, that was traced over a nightclub door stamp. At one point, he raises his forearm to show off a temporary tattoo that he received the night before at the castle park family entertainment center in Sherman oaks. ‘’This is a Belle tattoo. It’s not real,’’ he explains playfully of a small portrait of the beautiful young heroine from the animated Disney film Beauty and the Beast. I tell him it’s very pretty. ‘’Thank you. She’s gorgeous,’’ he responds. I ask if Belle is his favorite Disney princess. ‘’Well, I picked her out. There was also Jasmine, Ariel and Cinderella. My other buddies got those.” ‘’What about Belle appeals to you?’’ ‘’She likes the Beast.’’ Peters says.
This summer, Peters appears as the teenage Mutant speeder Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past, the sequel to 2011’s X-Men: First Class, which has proven to be an eventful ??? movie. In October 2012, director Matthew Vaughn – who relaunched the franchise with much needed style and a new cast of young, indie + credible actors – left the film to be replaced by original trilogy director Bryan Singer. As such, fans were already touched when Singer announced that he would retell ‘’Days of Future Past,’’ the seminal X-Men time-travel storyline from 1980, an ambitious plan turned wild when he revealed that both franchises would merge into one. Cut to the 2012 San diego Comic-Con whereby unthinkable feats of scheduling – the sprawling casts of the modern-day first series and the 60’s era prequel (that include expensive names like Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackmon, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Michael Fassbender, and so on). Convened with ??? new additions like Peters to unhinge popular culture. ‘’You think to yourself, ‘’wow, people really, really love this stuff.” And it makes you appreciate it more. It makes you work harder at it.’’ he says about the experience.
Peters’ role in the films is crucial but concise. ‘’It’s a huge, huge opportunity but I always make sure to tell people it’s just one scene. Easy, it's just one scene.’’ Peters says, as if talking down a rearing horse. Quicksilver has already been the subject of film industry chatter regarding lawful usage of the character, who is both the son of Magneto and a colleague of the Avengers, making him fair game for inclusion in both Days of Future Past and the 20n5 Avengers sequel (in which he will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Kick-Ass). An Empire magazine Preview of Quicksilver’s costume design was greeted with comparison to Kid Vid, a ‘90’s cartoon form of the Burger King ‘’Kid’s Club,’’ and the news that Peters had been saddled with the Halle Berry “rough wig’’ role. But his fan’s enthusiasm for the project—in which desperate X-Men from a dystopias future try to stave off mutant genocide by altering the present day—is undimmed. ‘’I think it’s the best film of the francise yet,’’ proclaims Peters. ‘’It’s pretty dire. It’s a pretty epic situation. But there’s definitely some humor in there. Its’s just badass, man.’’
Quicksilver is a departure for Peters in some ways if not others. Both X-Men and Horror Story are tight productions that take extensive precautions to protect story lines. Peters says that he did not receive the full script for X-Men until arriving at the Montreal location days before shooting. Horror Story pages are often delivered the night before a scene. The short lead time can demand a ??? almost improvisational acting process. ‘’The minute we get the script, plans are cancelled, dinner is cancelled,’’ he says about working on Horror Story. ‘’Some of it you’re like, ‘Oh shit, I have to do that?’ Screaming and crying, realizing that my whole body is pieced together and I’m not myself? I’ll probably have to work on that.’’
Peters owes his career to television. ‘’I was watching a lot of TV and I kind of wanted to be on the TV and in movies. I love movies and TV,’’ he says, and cites inspirations like Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, George Clooney, JIM Carrey, Chris Farley, Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, and the millennial teen comedies Even Stevens starring Shia Labeuof and So Little Time with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. ‘’That sort of stuff. I just really wanted to be a part of it and loved acting and performing.’’ He moved to Los Angeles with is mother when he was 15 years old, and steadily won work in television, on shows including Phil of the Future (2004) and One Tree Hill (2008), and in movies like the independent films Clipping Adam (2004), his first big break, and later Kick Ass (2010). Being cast as Tate Langdon in the first season of American Horror Story in 2011 was his tipping point, playing a Skull Boy-faced high school shooter in a latex catsuit who rapes his girlfriend’s mother to please a ghost. He has since become one of the five main players to appear in all three season of the series, sterling company that includes Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy.
Now the world gets to enjoy a lighter side of Peters, like when he appeared on a 2011 episode of the G4 networks Attack of the Show and blithely volunteered that he was working a a rap song called ‘’I’ll Tap That Fucking Ass.’’ He laughs off a request to recite a verse. ‘’I can’t. That never materialized. I tried but it was too much pressure. It was just a concept. I was just trying new ideas,’’ he says, and then volunteers a different musical direction. ‘’It’s called ‘Natch Snatch.’ Like all natural snatch. Big bush. Snatch. Cause it’s nice. You know, ‘girl, you’ve got that natch snatch.’ It’s another nice concept. Probably on the same album.’’ Peters laughs in agreement at the suggestion that he is a kook in the best sense of the word. ‘’I get called a weirdo sometimes,’’ he admits ‘’But it’s like, I don’t feel that weird. I don’t feel that different. I look at everybody else and I’m like, ‘’you’re a fucking weirdo, too. You like all of your shit. I like my shit.’’ Why does one have to be weird and one have to be normal? It doesn’t make any sense to me.’’ Meanwhile, he seems to be successfully negotiating his public and private persona. ‘’I’ll try to be myself as much as I can but you obviously can’t be who you are at home in your skivvies eating donuts. You can’t be that.’’ He explains, before confirming that guy exists, with his tongue sort-of-in-cheek. ‘’You bet he does. Yeah, definitely watching New Girl. Crying.’’ But while Peters seems fairly comfortable in the public eye, fame no longer interests him. The development is not unrelated to his intense, closely-watched relationship with fiancée and two-time costar Emma Roberts (on coven and in the 2013 ?? Adult World) ‘’When I was younger I was like, ‘’That would be awesome!’’ now I don’t particularly love it,’’ he says ‘’Emma gets paparazzi a lot, and because I’m with her we get paparazzi, so it’s kind of a weird thing that I don’t love. But it’s so small in the big picture of all the positives that come with this job that I can’t really complain about it.’’ he may be surprised by the attention he and Roberts receive, but he is hardly self-ptying. ‘’Honestly, it’s not that bad. If you don’t set up a Google alert on yourself and go out searching for it then you’re not going to see it. So I don’t see it.’’ Roberts has already endured the Hollywood learning curve that Peters is now experiencing. ‘’She gives me advice, like cut your hair. She likes my hair to look nice,’’ he says, and laughs. ‘’She’s been around and knows the ropes and how to play the game very well. And she has incredible social skills. She can talk to anyone and everyone loves talking to her. I’m not that good at that stuff so she kind of helps me out with that.’’ I wonder what guidance she offers him. ‘’You’ve just got to be personable and talk to people, even if you don’t want to. Put on a happy face and buck up. Grow a pair of balls. Don’t be a little wuss.’’ Petersa says, and laughs. ‘’I mean, she doesn’t say that, but you know what I mean.’’
Next for Peters is Lazarus, opposite Olivia Wilde, Donald Glover and Mark Duplass a 2015 feature from director David Gelb, known for the documentary Giro: Dreams of Sushi. Peters describes the project, about a team of brainiacs working magnanimously to reanimate the dead, as a “contained Sci-Fi horror thriller” as it mostly takes place in one laboratory setting. He plays the party animal scientist. Peters encouraging sidesteps the questions of his involvement in the next season of American Horror Story, to be set in 1950 and the present day, for which Jessica Lange is practicing a German accent. ‘’I don’t know what I’m allowed to say so I’m going to say no comment,’’ he says.
‘’At the end of the day it is acting. You want to go with the biggest, weirdest, boldest shit and see if you can actually do it and go there,’’ Peters concludes, ‘’I’m very curious about everything. I feel like I don’t know that much. I’m trying to learn it all and figure it all out.’’

I don't know if it was just that he blew out his voice during all the press for series 3 but Otto Farrant's just so soft-spoken here. It makes me want to cuddle him and give him mug after mug of tea with honey and tell him it's all right he can take his time. But I really do love how both he and Brenock are so articulate about both the series and the challenges of adapting a beloved MG series for live action and sort of the overall shape of the story over the course of three series.
Like it's very obvious that this was not a case of we're getting cancelled so let's pull out all the stops. like they structured this show very specifically. they chose which books to adapt very specifically to tell exactly the story that they wanted to tell. and looking at Guy Burt's television pedigree it's like this is the guy who did The Bletchley Circle. This is the kind of storytelling you get when you get somebody you know with a fucking BAFTA (no offense to Anthony Horowitz).
Yes there are elements that are still very childish like the mustache twirling villains who wear exclusively black and white and a lot of statement jewellery.
I mean we are talking about a series where in the first series the bad guy was literally a Nazi who cloned himself and raised his clones to replace a generation of nepo babies with the intention of committing mass murder and restarting society with the 1%.
But the approach that they took was still very grounded and very practical and tightly focused on the relationships. I think a lot of that has to do with almost like a backlash against the super slick super polished Bond franchise, and the very frenetic very stylised Bourne franchise.
This is where my love of The Bletchley Circle sort of bleeds through because you had a story about this group of women across the entire social strata completely different backgrounds completely different lives who worked together and were fucking war heroes and just expected to fade back into their pre-war lives as mothers and sisters and daughters and secretaries and there was no recognition of the importance of the work they did and there was no expectation that the experiences they had would in fact impact them for the rest of their lives. and that the reason they were drawn back together 10 years later wasn't just to solve a murder but it was because only among their peers could they be their truest selves because they had lived through this extraordinary experience that nobody outside of it could truly understand. and it made their lives as wives and mothers and daughters seem alien and false and strange in a way like they were lying every day because they had signed the Official Secrets Act and they had accepted that that part of their lives was over.
And the way this extends to Alex Rider for me is it's only in the first series that Alex is actually being run as an asset by the security services with oversight. The second series he is struggling with post-traumatic stress and trying to prove to everyone around him that he is not delusional. that in fact there is something going on and he is struggling with people who want to put him back in a little box that no longer fits.
Everyone wants him to go back to being just a kid, even Jack who knows him best. But it doesn't work that way. and she knows it doesn't work that way. because yes having the opportunity to just be a kid is a gift that she is desperate for him to have, but the price of knowing what he knows means he can never truly regain that innocence he's since lost.
I love that by the time we get to the third series that Tom and Kyra and Jack are very much working as Team Rider to support him and protect him and present a united front to the Department.
Because of the very deliberate choices they made when adapting the series and which novels they chose and which facets of the story they focused on that they're quite serious about this being the end of the first chapter. And that someday we may get more Alex Rider if they are able to secure the funding from overseas partners. Definitely not a reboot but a continuation.
Because most of the things standing in the way of getting more seasons of a show like this comes down to securing the funding from global partners and international distribution. and it would be really cool to see them come back in a couple of years and do more novels. Just pick up with these characters a few years on you know at uni or in Kyra's case not necessarily at uni, and yes the entire series of novels really relies heavily on the gimmick of Alex Rider: child spy.
Of course considering that I'm the same age as Alex's parents, I'm always going to look at him and be like that young man is a child. He is an infant. But let's face it a 19-year-old super spy with a kind of training and pedigree he has is still a gimmick and is still marketable.
and it's abundantly clear that even if Alex were to try to move past his life as an MI6 asset there's no guarantee that his old life wouldn't come and find him. I mean, Syl is still out there, as are the Point Blanc clones.
(I do think if you are a fan of Alex Rider you would very very much enjoy Spooks however you should know going in to not get attached to anyone. This is abundantly clear in the first series where one of the agents is killed rather violently by having her head shoved into a deep fat fryer. So you know from the get-go that being in the credits does not guarantee your safety. But by the end of the series, they seem determined to find fun and creative ways to kill everyone you've ever cared about and curse Harry Pearce to an eternal undending existence of nothing but pain. and that is perhaps as you might guess not as much fun to watch as you think.)

tbh, I stopped caring about houses that much when I found out that it's an otome/dating sim game with srpg gameplay sprinkled on top. In other FE games, you either gather supports by pair ups or by having units standing against one another. And mechanics like cooking in Fates were done to get some more stat boosts. And even if the avatarization of the game started with New Mystery, Robin and Corrin feel more like customizable characters than an avatar for the player.
In houses, Byleth is like every typical dating sim protag, that does not speak and the few times they do is by having the player choose options that may raise heart points with a character or lower them, you have to find lost items and when you give them back you gain heart points, you have to give them gifts to gain heart points and cooking now doesn't give you any beneficts in battle and only works for, you've guessed it, getting heart points. And let's not kid ourselves, tea time is like the "dates" in otome games, in which you can spam gifts till you raise the affection to the max. The only thing that distincts those points from the otome ones, is that those are necessary for proficency and for unit classes.
Heck, we even have a ring to give to the chosen blorbo in order to get a special custom made cutscene, when in pasts games getting an S support gave you a broken unit to deploy and a little blurb of text during the credits. And of course, calendar/day systems are also common in these tipes of games too.
People complained about awakening and fates for turning the franchise into a dating sim, but 3Houses is literally one in and of itself, and yet is praised as peack FE experience and as peack srpg.
(I could also argue that is because of this otome nature why the characters are "tell don't show" with their given trauma, unlike in pasts games when it was "show don't tell" (Nino, Reison, Camilla, Leif, Soren...))
Well,
When you put it like that, it becomes obvious that the other games (FEH, Engage) mentionning Fodlan are stuck on the uwu monastery part of the part 1 and not the, y'know, events happening that will lead to part 2 because as you said, the SRPG aspect is just "sprinkled on top" lol
However, the "pair up your units and build their relationships!" has been a non gameplay mechanics for decades now (FE4's was a gameplay mechanic, it had no support convos - FE6 added the support convos and gave a small gameplay boost but it didn't commit and we had no endings, FE7/8 had endings, FE9 had convos but FE10 removed them and yet had endings depending on the pairs, etc etc) even without avatars.
Then we entered the avatar era and if it added the "my waifu and my bae" shenanigans, FE13/14 were still more centered on the story aspect that on the "dating sim" aspect, as in, even if you could raise affinity with a character by doing X or Y, it wasn't really coded in a minigame - came FE16 which you analysed perfectly : tea time, gifts, eating, S-support CG, etc etc.
That being said, FE is a RPG, meaning it has characters : you play FE for the solid gameplay but you also build characters, and imo the best way to develop and write characters is to interconnect them with other characters, and/or with the plot/lore.
Sure, Arden functions as a wall/tank. But through the 5 lines he has, you learn that he is part of a group of knights, has friends who often tease him but is relied upon by those people and takes pride in that, he'd also like to find a wife someday and has self-esteem issues.
Is he as developped as, say, Xillia's Alvin? Hell no! But they're characters from two different genres, Arden has those 5 lines that puts him above any "generic" armor.
(I find it interesting how UO and in a way, FE11, gives you the opportunity to play with generics instead of playing with named characters, in UO generics will turn out to be better since you can change their growths, but they're generics. Do you want the RPG of the Tactics/Strategy aspect?)
So, I'd say that support conversations are important, I love Saias and Ralf to bits, but I'm sure I'd love them more if they had more lines. And since support through battle can be a chore (hello FE GBA and trying to get Bartre and Karla's supports when she joins 2 chapters before the end!), I initially welcome any way to grind those supports faster lol.
However, it can quickly spiral in, well, the otome mechanics we have in FE16 - if you want to build support then why not have an entire mini-game for that, and meals and chorals and whatever else?
It's all about finding balance between developping your characters without turning your game in a dating sim or what I'd call "playing the sims and pairing those dolls with those other dolls you like".
Still, let's not kid ourselves, nowadays the "dating sim" aspect of the series is, while decried by some, very popular - and FE is first and foremost, a series that has to sell.
3H is not peak SRPG not peak gaming experience or even in FE gameplay that'd be FE5 but I can't ignore the fact that its dating sim aspects might be part of the reason why it's still very popular.
#anon#replies#fe series#for my part i never liked harem protagonists or games/mangas it always pissed me off#but say if Lloyd can end up with different people and ladies in ToS#it's not the first argument that's thrown around when people praise the game#or even discuss about it#it's an accessory#i know redshit isn't a monolith but#for all the sass some had decrying mooners thinking with their ovaries and wanting to pick their uwu pwince to build a s support with him#UO's redshit has a lot of 'which waifu did you choose' posts#it's fun#granted the dating sim aspect of UO is also something i'm not fond of even if they tried to write it in the plot#still unlike Billy eating 150 meals per day#Alain doesn't have to sit with people eating#like you can order a meal between rodrick Joseph and Monica without Alain#I like seeing how characters are interconnected to each other and all#which is why I hate avatar or MC scissors#I can't help but wonder if the weak writing for the characters in Fodlan isn't due to Supreme Earl Grey#and the fact that they all must be able to uwu about Billy so can't have meaningful bonds#I remember some people joking that Alain can legit break what would be canon or heavily implied to be canon relationships in UO#which is all kinds of uhh writing wise for the characters involved#it's even more hilarious when the characters favor their already built relationship over the one you force with the MC lol#but anyways back to FE Fodlan I thought like#the writing for characters was shallow because they all must be able to ditch friends family and lovers for Billy#and that's just... as tasteless as a watermelon to me

Hiii Everyone!!!
I've been around for years now and have never introduced myself. mainly cause I just choose to vibe and enjoy the posts people share, but first time for everything. You can just call me Key, I'm 24 and I go by she/her. I enjoy a variety of stuff from manwha, manga, anime, video game franchises, and just a bunch of other animated media you name its probably buried down in my blog somewhere. Every now and then I get motivation to create fanfiction. I have only written works the Dragonball and Super Mario fandom All my works are under the "Keep Reading". My DMs and askbox here is always open if you ever want to chat I apologize in advance if I come across as a bit awkward (socializing is not a strong suit of mine) or if it takes me a minute to reply (adulting and hobbies am I right?), otherwise I'm a pretty chill person. Thats about it!
One of these days I really want to change my Penname...But I've had it for years now and I'm way too attached to it lmao.
Super Mario Fics: So a lot of these are Princess Peach centric and I'm just crafting up an origin story and some other events following the 2023 film. The links take you to the tumblr post but I have included the AO3 and FFN (for reading preferences) links either in the original post itself or in the case of my earlier stuff in the reblogs.
Lost And Found
A Learning Opportunity (2 chapters on both AO3 and FFN. They are both on the same post here)
Thoughts Over Tea
Aftermath
Finding The Balance
Little Events (Finished)
Chapter 1: The Dark
Chapter 2: A Decision
Chapter 3: The Coronation
Chapter 4: Proposals
Chapter 5: Changes
Fics Inspired by others:
Villainess Peach and Bowser Jr. (Inspired by the Player One Luigi AU created by Tiny-Prom and Casual-Derg). Please make sure to their blog's and check it out.
Dragonball Fics: The first fandom I have ever written for (and by penname you could probably tell what I read mostly) I have only shared them on FFN and AO3 until now. I was just starting to write fanfiction with the first two so they might be kinda cringe I guess but that's 16 year old me for you haha. gonna embrace the cringe by sharing it on here anyways.
Tournament Day
The Prince Before The Day ( I am never gonna finish that one or go back to it lol)
Bulla's Easter Day
Even when I started making fics I'm still not sure what goes through my mind when it comes to the title or chapter titles its literally the first thing that comes to mind and nothing after that but we will get it one day for sure.
Here's Some WIPs (that's both written and not) you guys can look forward too from me. I'll remove them and add them under the appropriate fic tags once I post them:
Uncle Yamcha fic: It is currently three chapters. The first one is him and Trunks, second is Marron, and the third one is Bra/Bulla. I really want to think of one for him and Goten but nothing has come to my mind. I just think he's more close to Krillin and Bulma where he'd interact more with their kids and I can't think of a scenario for him and Goten or what they would even talk about but maybe something will come. (I've currently sent this off to my Beta for review but lemme know if you guys want to see the un-beta'd version I have on here cause I'm really forward to sharing it)
Untitled EOZ fic following after Goku leaves the Tournament grounds to train Uub. This one sits at about 8k words (not sure exactly cause I added a bunch of notes at the end for my beta to see where my thoughts were going with it all) anyways this one focuses mainly on Trunks, Goten, Marron, Pan, and Bra as really the older kids look forward to what may lie ahead. A lot of it is just me focusing on the dynamics they have with each other. When I saw that dlc for kakorat was going to be focused on that one that really makes me want to share this one. Again let me know if you want to see that.
Based on this Ask here you can already see that I've completed 4 out of my 5 ideas so that leaves the other ones and maybe more if I think of anything else. All of these will probably be added to my Little Events fic. a few little ideas not shared here but I've thought about and have some dialoge in mind but haven't fully created yet.
I want to do something where Mario and Haru interact I just think it'll be so neat.
Maybe something where I do my take on introducing Sarasland and Princess Daisy. Probably along the lines of Peach meeting Daisy for the first time.
I need to hop on the wholesome bros. content at some point and I know I wanna try my hand with Mia and Pio as a part of it.
I think thats it for now...I'll probably add more if I think of something as having somwhere to put it down no matter how small it is can be nice to look at and push me towards getting it done.

Saw AU Ask Time!!! We’ve established Yuu will eventually meet John “Jigsaw” Kramer and become his unofficially adopted grandchild of sorts, while still being oblivious to the murders going on around them…but how do each of the housewardens explain their own connection to John and how they met? Does Yuu believe them?
Thank you so much for this ask, friend! Sorry it took me a while to get to it. I am here now to give my thoughts!
For anyone who is unaware, this ask is part of the Sort of Saw Franchise AU that myself and my friend M34GS came up with. You can read the fics in the link. If you want more information, my friend has a pinned post on her blog.
Everything is under a cut because this is going to get long. No content warnings.
Riddle (Heartslaybul)
Given Riddle's straight-forward nature, I think Riddle has a hard time creating an extensive lie. He's not the kind of person to fabricate a complex story and would stick to telling Yuu mostly the truth. So, Riddle tells Yuu that he met John while visiting his mother over one of the school breaks. He tells Yuu he found the man's advice insightful and enjoys their conversations. This is easily backed by John given his intellect and wit.
Due to Riddle's answer a lie covered in the truth, there is little to doubt and Yuu believes Riddle. Some details may be a bit fuzzy, but in reality people aren't nitpicking the finer details to an answer so long as it mostly checks out. Even if Yuu was surprised by the element of coincidence in the story, sometimes life works in mysterious ways. Little coincidence happen in life all the time and sometimes you meet and befriend people on chance.
Leona (Savanaclaw)
Leona tells Yuu that he met John through Ruggie who in this AU works many odd jobs, sometimes seasonal ones. He would be the person most likely to meet an assortment of people AND befriend them. Leona adds that according to Ruggie, John is a "lonely old man" and insists they visit John and keep him company. Ruggie huffs and corrects Leona stating "I did not say he was an old man. Don't put words into my mouth". Leona retorts with "I always call it as I see it". If John is present he smiles into his tea cup and doesn't dispute either of them. Yuu believes them because if anyone would be compassionate to the elderly, it would be Ruggie given he was raised by his grandmother. They would be a little confused why Leona tags along but they remember Leona can't say no to Ruggie (who he's dating in this AU).
Azul (Octavinelle)
Azul tells Yuu that John is a semi-frequent visitor to the main Monstro Lounge branch. He tells Yuu that like any kind, benevolent owner (read: always looking for any opportunity to earn money) he enjoys learning more about his regulars. He tells Yuu that once he talked to John he found himself enjoying their conversations so much they slowly became friends. This lie is bolstered by the fact that Azul actually knows (a bit too much) about his regulars. Yuu mostly believes Azul, though given John's medical condition, they worry a little over John's physical constitution.
Kalim (Scarabia)
Kalim's story to Yuu is he met John at one of his family's private medical charity galas. John has cancer after all and Kalim is quiet when he tells Yuu that he was moved by John's personal story. Kalim says he's endeavouring to open his perspective by talking with a variety of people with different life circumstances. He will inherit his father's business and with wealth Kalim knows he can make a positive impact on society. This story lines perfectly with Kalim's personality and Yuu believes him. A bit of emotional weight to the story also helps solidify the story in Yuu's heart.
(I will add that Jamil was very paranoid over Kalim's story, which they rehearsed and refined to "get it right". Jamil wanted a more generic story without any ties to Kalim's family, but Kalim insisted this story was perfect. The irony they'll never know is Jamil's story probably would be a bit less believable.)
Vil (Pomefiore)
It's actually Rook who sweeps in, complete with poetry and French, to tell the tale about how he encountered John at a farmer's market. He states that John was having a difficult time haggling down the price for some delicious deer sausage. Rook, who has helped multiple vendors with hunting for said sausages, swept in and "lent my assistance to John" and managed to bring the price down "so John could enjoy the delicious sausage and the fruits of our labour were not wasted". Rook continues to inform Yuu that he proceeded to have a "riveting conversation over the art of sausage making". Vil dryly tells Yuu Rook was at it for four and half hours.
If this story was told by anyone else, Yuu wouldn't believe them. This is Rook, however, and Yuu heard exactly how Rook and Vil met. They'd be more concerned if the story was mundane, actually. They believe Rook in an astonishing upset for all the other dorms who cannot believe this is Pomefiore's lie THAT WORKED. This also means John better become an expert in conversing about the art of sausage making as Rook cheerfully accidentally assigned John homework. Rook apologies profusely but John tells him it's fine and that learning new things, even at his age, is exciting.
Idia (Ignihyde)
There is only one way Idia has met someone new AND befriended them and that's through online games. Yes, the story could veer to his parents but honestly, Idia wouldn't talk to that person outside the mandated conversations. Thus, the only thing he can blurt out to Yuu is "We met online while playing -insert a large popular MMO title here-". In Idia's defense, he was taken off guard as he assumed there would be no chance Yuu, himself, and John would be in the same room at the same time. Well, Ortho tried to tell Idia the chances of that happening is higher than he thinks, but Idia ignored Ortho. Now he's sweating and hoping that Yuu believes his lie.
Now, as for Yuu, the online game part is easy to believe. What's harder to believe is Idia actually meeting one of his online friends IN PERSON. Though, they rationalize this as "Ortho is trying to get Idia out of his shell". Still, they're rather surprised and it takes a while for Yuu to process the information.
This also means that like Rook, Idia has accidentally assigned John some homework. Sure, Yuu wouldn't ask John outright to play the MMO but you never know what may happen. So, John has to become familiar with the game and its mechanics.
Malleus (Diasomnia)
Malleus takes a long sip of his tea, tenderly looks Yuu in the eyes, and says "I met John while out for one of my nightly strolls". Look, the man cannot lie directly to Yuu. There were probably different variations of stories that Lilia had prepared for different situations, but no one could prepare for Malleus "I can't lie to Yuu" Draconia. However, like Riddle, honesty is key. Yuu has no problems believing him. After all, that's exactly how they met Malleus. Clearly, Malleus is a bit lonely and has a tendency to meet others while out for night strolls. It's also Malleus, a Fae, who is still learning human concepts and mannerisms. Of course, Malleus would randomly befriend another human while out at night. Yuu believes him.
(I want to add that Malleus will tact on that while he met John the same way he met Yuu, Yuu has no fear of being replaced as his special human friend. Lilia nearly cries from laughter as clearly Malleus took a look at the trope "miscommunication" and said "This won't happen to me when I'm with Yuu".)
And there you go! There are my answers! I hope you enjoyed them friend! Let me know!

I was reluctant to watch The Sandlot: Heading Home due to its poor reviews, but I did end up enjoying the movie and got more emotionally invested than I'd like to admit.
However, I do not think I will be accepting it as canon to the franchise lore. It was released fourteen years after the original and it had a different director. I don't think David Mickey Evans envisioned Mr. Mertle booby trapping his house after he died.
And of course, the elephant in the room: the implication that time travel is possible in the sandlot universe is so bizarre. Babe Ruth visiting Benny in his dream is believable, and if it's not your cup of tea you can write it off as it just being his imagination. But what happened to Tommy is too bizarre to sweep under the rug. Even wikipedia lists it as a science fiction film.
Also, the mute kid speaking definitely embodied the "disabled character cured" trope and it rubbed me the wrong way. It's good that he is able to talk but weird that it was framed in this way. I wish his muteness had been explored more because it would have provided another opportunity to highlight more diverse characters. The second movie did that with Sam (aka fingers), but it was forgotten about as the rest of the movie completely fell flat.
I will speak about this in more detail at some point but for now I need to go to bed

Will You Go On A Date? Free Tarot Boba Tea PAC
Will you go on a date? With who? Most importantly, will have boba tea? Pick a cup and see!
Tumblr media
Brown Sugar Boba from The Alley Tea- 7 of Swords - You may seduce someone. Or someone may seduce you.
The seven of swords can be about deception. But in this context, it could also be about seduction. Because you are naturally attractive, you get away with a lot - but it might also indicate someone taking advantage of you.
Brown sugar boba is like a special version of classic milk tea. It's got the same flavor progile but deeper, and caramelised. It's not a regular boba, and you probably won't go on a regular date. There may be seduction or deception involved, but likewise it may just be that you have a lot of tension and things don't necessarily play out as you might expect...
Classic milk tea from Cuppacha - 4 of Wands - You have a high likelihood of going on a date.
The four of wands is a celebratory card, showing there is a lot for you to be satisfied with here.
You are like classic milk tea with tapioca pearls. In essence, you are therefore a crowd pleaser. There aren't many people who dislike you, and you're very popular. A side effect of this is that you have a wide dating pool.
You have a high likelihood of going on a date. However, as this is a minor arcana card, this probably won't be a super significant date. For that, you may have to re-examine your options further, but either way, there could be boba involved ^-^
Winter Melon Latte from Chatime - Knight of Pentacles - you may get a present!
This card doesn't necessarily mean anything regards dating prospects, only that there is something coming your way in the material realm.
This could be a person, an opportunity, or maybe even a physical gift. This is kind of like a wildcard, in the same way winter melon isn't always a hugely popular flavor (amongst english speakers) but deserves more investigation. Ultimately there is something interesting in store for you - but it might be that only time will tell what it is...
This is just for fun! All recipes belong to the respective boba franchises. I don't own them but I'm also not being sponsored or anything. I just like boba and making these motivates me to read tarot.

Week 1-2: Business Interview 👨‍💼
Tumblr media
This blog will provide insights and information about various companies and businesses. On August 30, 2024, my groupmates—Jessa, Ian, and Francen—and I had the opportunity to interview five different businesses. These businesses are N JESS GENERAL MERCHANDISE, HAPPY SIP, AJ WATER REFILLING STATION, JASMINE GARDEN, and AQUARIST FISH SHOP. During these interviews, we gathered valuable information about their operations and the stories behind how each business was established.
Tumblr media
N JESS GENERAL MERCHANDISE
The business is owned by Ms. Carmela Barton along with his father. It was established in 2015 and it is located at Zone 12, Upper Carmen, Door 3 LACAR Bldg.  Initially, they focused on selling wholesale Beer, Coke, and nails (lansang). However, the wholesale side of the business struggled due to an employee's failure to perform adequately, and the profit margins were low. On the other hand, nails became a fast-selling item, prompting them to expand their product offerings. Using the profits from nail sales, they reinvested in additional construction materials to attract more customers by providing a wider variety of choices. The business has 17 staff and mostly our labor since the nature of the hardware store requires handling heavy materials. Ms. Carmela said that their business is partnered with contractors, so the materials used in the project come from them.
Ms.Barton shared that when starting the business, she first found a good location and a supplier. But despite the fact that business is in a good place and sales, it cannot be avoided that there are times they will experience slow sales but still she can manage to pay their financial obligations. And the reason why they decided to venture in business is to allow her father to retire from working abroad as an OFW, ensuring the business as her father`s retirement.
Tumblr media
HAPPY SIP
Happy Sip is a store that is owned by Ms. Rema Hassan along with his sister Merlyn Hassan. It was a franchised store established on March 5, 2024 and the main store was in Manila. It is located in Zone 12, Upper Carmen, near the multicab terminal. The business is focused only on selling milktea but they just added other options like coffee and snacks, including siomai and fires. They have only 2 staff, Ms.Rema and her mother, and they don't have any business partners. Before the Happy Sip was established the family had an ukay-ukayan that was managed by their mother. However, due to poor sales, Ms.Rema decided to venture into another business which led to the creation of the Happy Sip. She just wanted to have an extra income given the situation on their first business.
Ms. Rema shared that the first process she did in building the business is to contact the supplier since the supplies are sourced from Manila. So basically she needs to wait a while for her to restock again. And it becomes one of the challenges she encounters along with the fact that they have a slow sale since tea is not a known necessity as the basic needs of people like rice.
Tumblr media
AJ WATER REFILLING STATION
The business was owned by Mrs.Leonor Jamito and was established on June 28, 2024. It is located at Zone 12-C Uzlai Upper Zayas, CDO. It doesn't have a business partner and operates with a small team of just 3 staff since the business was just starting. Mrs.Jamito shared that the first thing she did in making this business is to save a big amount of money since the capital in this kind of business requires a big amount of money. Especially, it needs machines that generate mineral water.
The reason behind this business is for Mrs. Jamito will have something to leave for her children as she doesn't know how long she will live. She wanted for her children to have a business that will help them to have extra income. And she also said that you just have to be patient because the sales are not consistent. There will be times that are going to be high sales, it also has slow sales moments.
Tumblr media
JASMINE GARDEN
The Jasmine Garden is owned by Amelita Dap-og and it was established in 1992. It was located at Gusa, CDO but now she is currently residing in Tagaloan. The business operates as a sole proprietorship with no partnerships. In 1992, the business started by selling only a few flowers, but over time, it expanded to offer a wide variety of flowers and plants. In addition to this, they now provide landscaping services. At the start, the business had just three staff members, Mrs. Dap-og, her husband Alejandro Dap-og, and her son Staline Dap-og. Mrs. Dap-og shared that they secured their location in Gusa through the support of the local government unit (LGU), and they have remained there because their business contributes to the beautification of the community.
Mrs. Dap-og shared that they were involved in several floral displays, such as festivals like kaamulan and higalaay. That is why if she wanted to display her products in any event she needed to submit a business permit. She also shared that they participated in a contest and won awards for "Best in Flowering" and "Best in Bonsai Plants." This involvement has allowed Mrs. Dap-og to connect with new suppliers and acquire new varieties of flowers that she can propagate and sell. Additionally, she has become a supplier to other gardens, creating a network of mutual support in the industry.
Tumblr media
AQUARIST FISH SHOP
The business was owned by Mrs. Devenia Soccoro M. Chua, who established the business in 1993. However, the physical store in Rizal Fernandez Streets. Brgy. 1 CDO was established in 2010. It is a sole proprietorship and only has 3 staff members, Mrs. Chua, her  husband and their child.  The business is all about selling different types of fish, along with other pets, accessories for aquariums and fish foods. They created this business to generate income but the inspiration as to why they did choose this kind of business is because of her husband who likes to take good care and collect fish.
Mrs. Chua shared that the first thing they did to start the business was to invest and set-up a different aquarium size since this was where the fish will be put. They also sought out suppliers for their products, and as they built relationships with these suppliers, they were approached with offers for new varieties of fish, helping to expand their inventory.

🔥 (if your still dropping the tea! xD. Idk for a topic, anything I guess, shout it out!)
Last night me and Jess were talking and I subjected her to a little Mangetsu and Suigetsu rant. So, since it's the birthday of the older brother and a few days from the birthday of the younger brother, it's time I brought some words out today. Not good ones. Keep in mind, Mangetsu is damn near tied for my #1 favorite in the entire franchise. So I don't say this out of malice.
There is no point to him existing. Both as a character and as a sibling. Because we got absolutely nothing worthwhile from his existence. Sure there was the whole "oh he can use all the swords and is basically a prodigy" but we didn't even get to see any of that, now did we? Didn't even see him with his own primary weapon (Hiramekarei) in canon, had to see it in Sharingan Legend for a couple panels and I believe one of the games too. How fucking disrespectful is that?
There's at least one other Hiramekarei wielder that's not Chojuuro that we've seen too. So we can just replace Mangetsu as the strongest user of it for the Edo Tensei and miss absolutely nothing. Suigetsu doesn't even need "oh my brother died and that explains some of why my life sucks so bad" since we genuinely don't know what role Mangetsu (and his death) played there! I can assume all I want but without shit to base it on, it's all worthless. There's easily ways you can give Suigetsu a hard time that gets him caught by Orochimaru to explain everything. The story continues as normal.
And the sibling comment, well. There's plenty of characters who aren't an only child. Both by blood and otherwise. Kabuto and Sai come to mind immediately. But you also got the Sand Siblings, the Senju quartet, Madara was one of 5 for fucks sake, Naruto and Hinata have 3, Hinata herself has a sister in Hanabi. And while Madara is an interesting case cuz only 1 of his 4 other siblings is shown, at least we get valuable input from Izuna being around. Everyone else? You can make a good case for the existence of their siblings.
Take for example Urushi, Kabuto's adoptive older brother. He didn't have a big part to play but I still am moved by his presence in Kabuto's life. We didn't need to see his whole deal either. The two were together in the orphanage for a couple years and clearly bonded based on the SCENE FROM THE WAR ARC LATER WHERE NOW ADULT URUSHI SAYS HE HOPES HIS BROTHER WILL FINALLY COME HOME. and then guess what? They're back together in Boruto! Not a great fate for Kabuto, looking like Orochimaru after All That, but at fucking least he has someone important to him left.
And then no one needs me to go off about Shin in any capacity cuz by now it's clear what my feelings are. That being said, for all my bitching about the lack of info, we got a decent amount to go off of. We know their place in Sai's life and how it shaped Sai into the person we got to know in Shippuden. That is enough to justify their role as a sibling. I'm content with it.
Mangetsu? Had an opportunity to be reunited with Suigetsu in the war. I know it could have fucking been done. But no, no, nothing came of it. Because even SP didn't want to put in the effort. WE DID NOT EVEN SEE MANGETSU GET SEALED LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. HOW FUCKING DISRESPECTFUL! Legit at this point he should have just been removed from the entire narrative. You could do that and lose NOTHING.
Happy birthday beloved wet beast, you got done so goddamn dirty by canon in every way. I wish I had the ability to correct the wrongs done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here have a couple pieces done by Brentonsart (Twitter) who is very dear to me as compensation. I've been holding onto these a while.

So nobody at AMC have the ability to figure out how to make merch for one of the most beloved character in the franchise?
Like T-shirts with memorable quotes from Carol, she had a lot of great ones over the years...
A cook book...Carol is a great cook, and so is Melissa. They always had a goodbye dinner when one of the main characters left the show,Melissa is the one who use to host the dinner party. From what the other actors on the show have said over the years,Melissa is a great cook. I would buy a cook book by Melissa

Dark Angel Interview: Emery
Tumblr media
For my Dark Angel of the Bullet Club series.
I had previously asked for 'interview' questions for Emery, and I eventually got around to answering them. I'll do the same for Phoenix when I get a moment.
Tag List: @katries @summertimefun1982 @blxxckheart (If you want added to the tag list, let me know)
Food / Drinks She loves a wide variety of foods, only thanks to exploring so much with Kenny and the Bucks during her travels. Stir-fry is amazing, wontons, and some sushi. Just depends on her mood. Italian foods are probably her favorite overall- pasta, pizza and gelato. Seafood is amazing—but only crab, shrimp, and lobster. Emery doesn’t like much of anything else (Squid? Ew. Clams? Double ew.) Spanish cuisine is also really good; authentic is even better. She don’t really like super spicy foods though, it upsets her stomach; and she absolutely refuse to eat mushrooms or anything slimy.
Drink wise, mostly water or flavored water. Occasionally, she’ll drink sweet tea and some juices. Hot cocoa and coffee are amazing; Emery will never turn down stopping at Starbucks. Alcohol, she don’t really drink too much. She don’t like beers or wines—there’ve been a few fruity drinks she’s found that she likes, but only ever drinks 1-2 of them, and even then, there are months, sometimes almost a year in between drinking. She just doesn’t have the urge to drink a lot of alcohol.
Animals Emery absolutely loves dogs and cats! They’re her all-time favorites. There’s a lot of animals she likes; horses, dolphins, monkeys, turtles, birds—the list could go on.
The list of what Emery don’t like is much shorter and simpler. She could live without spiders, especially the larger ones. Mosquitos are highly annoying. Emery also suffers from ophidiophobia – irrational fear of snakes. She’s not been a fan of them for as long as she can remember. Bad experience as a kid.
Favorite Games This is a broad category, so let’s break it into chunks.
Video Games: Elder Scrolls are a big favorite of hers- mostly Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online. Raft. Sims franchise. Resident Evil franchise. Mortal Kombat is always a favorite of hers. Racing games, wrestling games—she’ll try just about any of them.
Board/Card Games: Poker, Apples to Apples/Cards Against Humanity, Monopoly, Clue – you name it, she will play it! Emery LOVES game night.
Places to Live/Visit She’s only ever lived in a few places. Emery was born in Colorado and lived there up until she was 18. After, lived in California for a while before making the long move to Japan. Now, she currently has an apartment in Florida.
Japan was definitely a top-list place, both living and visiting. The country is just so beautiful and the language is mesmerizing. Emery could listen to Kenny speak Japanese for hours and never tire of it. Italy is another place she has been lucky to visit; stayed there for almost four days due to a layover issue. Absolutely remarkable country, super nice people.
She’s wanted to go to England since she was a little girl—and has had a few opportunities to go, but unfortunately, something always comes up and Emery can never go. Maybe one day…
Favorite Music/Movies/TV Shows/Books Another broad topic that we’ll separate.
Music: Very open to different music- classical, pop, rock, etc. The only kind she doesn’t really listen to is screamo and most rap
Movies and TV: Supernatural is her go to; Doctor Who, Sherlock, Avengers, Once Upon a Time, CSI’s, NCIS’s, Criminal Minds, Forensic Files. She loves crime shows, magical/fantasy, and cooking shows. Also American Ninja Warrior. And don’t even get her started on anime.
Books: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter. Anything from James Patterson. And a bucket load of manga.
What does she look for in a guy Great body and a nice d---
Nah, just joking.
Emery is a sucker for blue or green eyes, and ‘long’ hair (something she can run her fingers through). Someone who’s funny/has humor, has a sensitive side, makes her feel safe and loved.
Common interests are always nice, but not exactly necessary. He does have to like animals though. That’s a deal breaker there—and she don’t mean snakes. If that’s the only animal he likes/wants/has then it aint gonna work.
Doesn’t have to be taller than her, but Emery does like being picked up and carried around. Piggyback rides are the best thing ever. She’s naturally cuddly and sometimes clingy, so he’s gotta be able to put up with that.
Don’t even get her started on accents or being multilingual.
Another key thing is, he’s gotta be able to help her through the dark times. When the voices and memories start getting to be too much and she start falling down the ‘rabbit hole’. His being able to help her through it, or stop it from getting bad, is definitely something she looks for.
Does she want a family? A family would be nice, but she’s not completely sold on the idea of childbirth. She saw her mother go through some complications with Emery’s little brother and the possibility she could go through the same thing (or worse) scares her. The idea of having a little body running around with her DNA and the DNA of who she loves though, is very tempting. Perhaps one day, with the right person.
What does she like to do on dates and for fun? It depends on the day and how she’s feeling. Sometimes a simple movie at home with popcorn, snuggled under a blanket together is more than enough for her. Or, another home date would be just playing games together, either video or board games. If it’s venturing outside of the home, then she’s all for going to museums, arcades, swimming (only at pools though- she hates swimming in lakes/rivers because the possibility of a snake slithering around her that she can’t see). Mini golf, walking through a park, window shopping, the zoo, or even going to an animal shelter and volunteering for a few hours. She doesn’t do sporting events too often, but for the right person, she would consider it.
(Unique) Nicknames she has for her boys. Kenny: Ken, Kenbear Nick: Nicky, Nemo, Nii Matt: Mattie, Minion, Nii Kyle: Kye, Kye-Rye Riley/El Phantasmo: Phasmo, Rye Damian: Damo, D, Papi Priest, Mi Hombre (my Man) Adam: AC, A-Bay, Chugathon Hangman: Cowboy, Hangy, AP Wheeler Yuta: Yoots Orange Cassidy: Cass, J (like Orange Juice/OJ—but just a J) Darby: Darbs Jay White: Switchblade, Switch Kofi: Koph/Kof, KK Finn: Finnabon Jeff Hardy: Nero, Jeffie Wardlow: Cerberus (3 headed dog, Greek Myth), Wardaddy
(Unique) Nicknames her boys have for her. Kenny: Ree, Angel, Angelface, Kitten Nick: Ree, sis, Matt: Ree, sis Kyle: Ree, sis Riley/El Phantasmo: Ree, shortie, Damian: Ree, Princess/Princesa Adam: Ree Hangman: Ree, Darlin’ Wheeler Yuta: Ree Orange Cassidy: Ree, R Darby: Ree, Cifer (Lucifer, a fallen angel) Jay White: Ree, Princess Kofi: Ree, lil sis Finn: Ree Jeff Hardy: Ree, Reno (Nero but letters are mixed up) Wardlow: Ree, Puppy,
Who started her main nickname, Ree? Kyle, shortly after he started helping train her back in early months of 2014.

Franchising vs. Starting Your Own Tea Business – Basketleaf
Entering the tea business can be rewarding, with options ranging from launching an independent tea brand to investing in a franchise. Both approaches offer unique benefits and challenges, particularly  best business options under ₹1 lakh . Here’s a comprehensive comparison to help you decide which path might be best for you.
1. Initial Investment: Franchising vs. Starting Your Own Business
Franchising
Franchising typically requires a higher initial investment due to franchise fees, royalties, and setup costs. While some affordable tea franchises exist, franchise fees alone can quickly consume a large portion of a ₹1 lakh budget. However, franchises often come with pre-established brand recognition and marketing, which can ease the path to profitability.
Starting Your Own Business
Starting your own tea business allows for more control over the budget. Without franchise fees, you can allocate funds directly to necessary elements like kiosk setup, raw materials, and marketing. This approach offers more flexibility for those working with limited capital and allows you to scale at your own pace.
2. Brand Recognition and Customer Trust
Franchising
With a franchise, you leverage an established brand that already has customer trust. This brand recognition can attract customers more quickly, as people are often more inclined to try a brand they recognize. For first-time business owners, this can offer a helpful boost in credibility and customer interest.
Starting Your Own Business
Building your brand from scratch requires time and effort to establish a name in the market. However, this is also an opportunity to create a unique brand identity tailored to your target audience. By crafting a distinct brand, you can attract a loyal customer base who identifies with your brand values and offerings.
3. Creative Control and Menu Customization
Franchising
Franchises typically come with pre-set menu offerings, recipes, and branding guidelines. While this simplifies operations, it also restricts creative freedom. For instance, if you wanted to add a unique seasonal tea blend, it may require approval from the franchisor.
Starting Your Own Business
An independent tea business offers complete control over your menu, brand image, and overall business direction. You can experiment with flavors, develop signature blends, and respond to local preferences. This flexibility can set you apart in a competitive market by allowing you to create a unique experience for your customers.
4. Marketing and Support
Franchising
One of the main advantages of franchising is the support that comes with it. Franchisors often provide initial training, marketing materials, and ongoing support, which can be invaluable for new business owners. Marketing support helps reduce costs, making it easier to stay within budget, but with a limited marketing scope decided by the franchisor.
Starting Your Own Business
Independent business owners have the freedom to develop their marketing strategies, allowing for hyper-localized promotions. For instance, you could leverage social media platforms, partner with local influencers, or run targeted offers to attract specific demographics. The flexibility to adapt marketing tactics in real time can be a significant advantage in a dynamic market.
5. Potential Earnings and Profit Margins
Franchising
While a franchise can often generate consistent revenue, a percentage of your earnings will go toward royalty fees and other recurring costs to the franchisor. This can affect your overall profitability, especially if you’re operating on a smaller budget. However, some franchises benefit from bulk purchasing, which can reduce ingredient costs and improve margins.
Starting Your Own Business
In an independent business, there are no franchise fees or royalties, so you retain all profits. While growth may initially be slower than with a franchise, the profit potential can be higher in the long term. Additionally, with control over sourcing and pricing, you can maximize profit margins by optimizing your expenses.
6. Risk and Flexibility
Franchising
Franchises tend to be lower-risk because they come with a proven business model. However, the level of flexibility is limited, as franchisees must adhere to company standards and regulations. Any significant business decisions require approval from the franchisor, reducing your ability to pivot quickly in response to market trends.
Starting Your Own Business
Starting your own tea business involves higher initial risk, as the success depends entirely on your ability to establish a customer base and compete with established brands. However, with full autonomy, you can easily adapt to changing market conditions, try new strategies, and grow at a pace that suits your budget.
7. Legal and Operational Structure
Franchising
Franchises come with a structured setup, often making operations smoother. However, this also involves signing a binding agreement that may restrict your options, such as where you can operate, what you can sell, and how you conduct business. For those comfortable with strict adherence to guidelines, this can simplify operations.
Starting Your Own Business
An independent business requires more work in terms of setting up legal structures, licenses, and permits. However, this approach offers more freedom to adjust business practices and operational methods. This flexibility is beneficial for creative entrepreneurs who want to experiment with their tea business’s look, feel, and service style.
8. Ideal for Beginners vs. Experienced Entrepreneurs
Franchising
Franchises are generally better suited for beginners who prefer an established business model with support from the franchisor. This model reduces the learning curve and offers a structured path to profitability. For those looking to enter the tea business with minimal industry knowledge, franchising can provide a valuable foundation.
Starting Your Own Business
If you have a background in business or a passion for tea and are willing to put in the extra effort to learn, starting an independent business may be more rewarding. This option provides a chance to exercise entrepreneurial creativity and grow your brand from the ground up, which can be a fulfilling experience.
10. Conclusion: Which is Better for You?
Both franchising and starting your own tea business have their unique advantages. If you value brand recognition, a structured business model, and ongoing support, then franchising may be the better choice, especially if you’re new to the industry. However, if you prefer creative freedom, full control over finances, and the ability to adapt quickly to market trends, starting an independent tea business may be the right path for you. With careful planning, either approach can be one of the best business options under ₹1 lakh in India’s booming tea market. Whether you choose a franchise or an independent business, the key to success will be in offering quality tea, engaging customer service, and a memorable brand experience.
