E-Scope Mystery Solutionists

Yes. This is a Scooby Doo au.

Except no talking dog, but Noah's golden retriever Nana (Nan-uh, named after the dog from Peter Pan) is the dog of the group.

Noah is like some mix of Velma and Fred as he's the one who figured out clues the most and makes up the traps most of the time.

Izzy is an unholy combination of everyone in the gang. Even Scrappy. She's not scared of anything, though, and always wonders off to investigate, which leads her to a lot of trouble.

Eva has small hints of everyone, but not too much. She is very much the realist of the group as she doesn't believe in monsters or ghosts or anything like that.

Owen is our beloved Shaggy and Scooby!

This is going to be loosely based on specifically Zombie Island. Though unlike in the movie, the gang didn't split up because once again, the monster they were hunting was a person. In this au, they had a YouTube channel where they discussed their mysteries but also filmed some of them. Kind of like paranormal investigators! Izzy came up with the idea of traveling to different states and investigating local mysteries. Izzy is 100% a true believer in creatures and ghosts, and everything, so this is a quest to prove Eva wrong!

Owen is already creating a food map for them, while Noah took care of the schedules, stops, etc. The first stops had been the same old same old, with them unmasking a villain instead of a real ghost, ghoul, or monster. But Izzy wasn't disheartened and was sure they were going to find something in New Orleans! It was New Orleans!

They, of course, made their stops at the food trucks and restaurants that Owen had planned for them, which was really nice and good, and Owen made a food tour video on his separate food channel on YouTube while Eva made a small vlog for her separate channel. Noah made some himself for his separate channel, as did Izzy.

They had small mysteries to solve before they stopped at a market Noah had been wanting to check out when Izzy started ranting about not finding one real ghost. That's when they were approached by this guy named Chris (yeah, sorry, no parental figure Chris in this one. He gets to be a villain UwU) who said he lived in this house with an old friend that was definitely haunted.

Izzy and Owen were all for going, but Noah and Eva were skeptical. Noah and Eva because stranger danger was something they learned very early on, and it was odd this guy was so ready to house four young adults and a service dog. Noah also because it did not go along with their schedule. But with the combined begging from Owen and Izzy, they relented and thanked Chris for hosting them. Once on the ferry, though, Noah's anxiety started to kick in. Owen and Izzy were certain it was because of going off schedule and unknown and did their best to calm him down along with Nana.

Eva was just suspicious and put off by the ferry man, Chef. Just something about him rubbed her the wrong way, but she held her tongue for her excited friends. She didn't want to ruin what could possibly be a fun time.

When they arrived, it was to a beautiful manor surrounded by cats, which was wild, and thankfully, none of them were allergic, but the sight of so many felines was a little off-putting. In the front yard was a very handsome gardener who Noah definitely hadn't been checking out. Definitely not. He introduced himself as Alejandro and apologized for not shaking their hands because he currently had on his gardening gloves, but they all brushed it off.

Once inside, they were introduced to the friend Chris had mentioned, but with the way the two interacted, Noah was reluctant to call them friends. The two acted more like siblings who hated each other because they were step siblings and were rivals before becoming siblings. The "friend" was named Blaineley, and Noah immediately clocked her superiority complex and narcissism. Despite the weird dynamic and the ferry driver staying because he was also the chef...named Chef...the estate was beautiful and the friends made their own fun while they filmed in the house.

Owen and Noah shared a room, of course, while Izzy and Eva shared another. It was while Noah and Owen were getting ready, and Noah was debating which sweater vest to wear for dinner that they saw it. A ghost of a soldier rasping, "Get Out!" Noah is a little amused yet caught off guard, but Owen yelled out in fright, which had Eva and Izzy running into their room. Noah explains what happened, and the team immediately set out to debunk. But they found no hidden projectors, trip wires, or anything like that. Noah suspected that maybe it was a trick mirror that had some kind of mechanism inside, but turning it around only found an owner plaque and no room for anything to go in the back.

They brushed it off and headed to dinner, where they saw Alejandro again. Dinner had been going good so far, and Noah and Eva had been getting the history of the island and manor itself until Noah heard Nana whine and growl. The cats had started picking on his dog, and he was getting pissed. Blaineley blamed Nana, and it seemed like Owen and Izzy foresaw him exploding and intervened. It ended with Noah reluctantly agreeing to take his dinner outside with Nana and Owen.

Owen tried to make it fun and offered a picnic, which Noah had to give him friend a small smile for his efforts. Alejandro had walked them out and smoothly apologized for his employer's attitude. It was appreciated, but it wasn't who needed to apologize. They went separate ways once outside, and Noah and Owen happily had their picnic.

Until it was ruined by freaking zombies!? Wtf?

I definitely think this one would be a series of the golden age of Scooby-Doo movies, aka Zombie Island, Cyber Chase, Witch's Ghost, and Alien Invaders.

It would, of course, be starting with Zombie Island, as you may have guessed, which concludes with Alejandro joining the gang as he was undercover on the island as a private investigator who had been hired by a family who needed closure from a cold case of their missing kids who had gone to prom and never came back.

His trail led him to Moonscar Island. He let his partner, Courtney, know where he was going just in case anything happened. He saw there was a job opening for a gardener and took the chance to apply. To his delight and surprise, he was hired. Nothing too odd stood out to him once he was hired, and it was already month four of his working there. He was in it for the long game.

Therefore, he was surprised to see Chris and Chef arrive with a van of people who looked around Alejandro's age. They immediately caught his attention as they could be potential victims of what he hypothesized was human trafficking or a trio of serial killers. He tried to insert himself into everything so he could keep an eye on the group and make sure they are safe.

Okay, and maybe to get to know the cute boy with the dog, too. Alejandro can multitask!

Something that bothered me personally is people's willingness to look into certain characters but be quick to hate on others. I saw this a lot with Courtney and it drove me NUTS. Like, I'd fully explain why I feel like Courtney's interesting and how it seems like there's a lot to unpack there but people don't want to listen bc they don't like her. They'll even go on to call her a terrible person when there were such worse characters who's behavior was just excused bc people could gather things like their home situation. Like Alejandro. As much as I love him he is still a manipulator and people tend to just ignore that like it's not a major part of his character bc he has issues w his family. I'm not even saying "look into every character ever!!" But I feel like if someone can offer so much insight on a character that's something to think about? Maybe I can go on about Courtney and people still don't like her bc that's just not the type of character they like, maybe their opinion is swayed. Either way I find it weird when people apply things like this to characters and it's so quickly brushed off.

I’ve seen many total drama fans get annoyed when someone says something about a character that is somewhat analytical but isn’t been explicitly stated by saying that people are claiming headcanons are being treated as canon or that people are looking to deeply into something that doesn’t warrant it, and while the second point is it’s own can of worms, I think tdi fans and fans in general need to understand that some things are what is intended by the creators, just implied and ever so slightly implied. It’s straight up fact that Dakota has insecurities shown through very obvious dialogue, I’d say implied that Jo is insecure about her appearance due to words and actions she has done that would lead to this and ever so slightly implied that Scott has a bad home life or relationship with his parents due to a singular line said and his overall actions. And then some things are just either full on fact like Mike having DID or just completely headcanon like someone saying that brick has ptsd from ‘nam or something.

Each point has a different amount of evidence to back it up, and I think that some people may take these things further and develop upon them for their own ideas and concepts, but when most people analyse characters they’re not saying “x did this because x reason and that’s a fact!” No, they’re often meaning “y acts this way, and that probably comes from this fact we know about y and other things we can infer from that”. Often people are not saying that what they are saying is fact but people get annoyed that either they didn’t see it before or don’t agree with it. And while I agree there’s some characters that I enjoy and want to keep as just simple and fun, other people’s enjoyment of a character is by taking what they are, and while not mischaracterising them, but giving more depth to them then I think it really doesn’t matter. I think mischaracterisation is different but u can’t think about how to defend myself right now. This post probably doesn’t make sense too I’ve gone on too many tangents and had to delete them so apologies if I start a sentence and don’t finish it here

Aahhhh. I love weddings. Don’t you? I think it’s a wonderful expression of one’s love for another, and it’s always nice to see celebrated! Crashing weddings can be fun to watch too, thankfully. Thanks, Sierra! (And sorry you lost your husband!)

Notes on the episode under the cut!

* Cody’s silently praying to whatever God may be out there that Noah’s the one that comes back.

* Chris announces Noah’s return as he rises from the stage on a three-tier platform. Sierra’s “WHAT” is drowned out by Cody’s “YES!!!”.

* (Noah's song is an entirely new arrangement that spoofs Kay Starr’s “Wheel Of Fortune”. It would entail Noah leading [obviously], singing about how awful it is that Lady Luck brought him back to compete on this awful show. It would end with Noah and Cody collectively thanking Lady Luck for letting them see each other again.)

* Noah asks if he has to go back to team Chris, and Chris responds that the teams are merging. Everyone welcomes this development except Sierra.

* Once he rejoins the cast proper, Sierra starts picking a fight with him. “Whatever… At least I got to spend more time with Cody.” Noah’s petty. “…At least Cody likes spending time with me.”

* They keep going. “At least I got to sleep with Cody!” “At least I slept with him first!” “At least my parents won’t hate me because I kissed a boy!!” “At least my parents care about me in the first place!!”

* Chris interrupts them: “Okay, okay! As entertaining as this spat is…” Cut to Cody, Tyler and Heather holding back Noah, and Courtney, Alejandro and Duncan holding back Sierra. Cody holds Noah’s mouth shut and Courtney holds Sierra’s shut. “…I’ve got a show to run. Let’s move on, shall we?”

* Sierra’s the first one to spin the roulette machine and she gets Tyler. She’s not happy. Tyler’s met with no one as Sierra yells at Chris to let her spin again. He insists she gets what she gets, and she’s not allowed to re-roll.

* Noah goes after Sierra, and rolls Cody. He pops out and finds himself in front of Noah. He jumps up and hugs him tight as he says it’s “The BEST DAY EVER!!” Sierra seethes in the background.

* Courtney rolls Alejandro and Heather is left with Duncan. Alejandro's disappointed but he won't say that out loud. Courtney on the other hand is SO happy to not be with Duncan.

* (As it turns out, Courtney and Alejandro are more compatible than they thought. Duncan and Heather, on the other hand, are not. Sad.)

* Noah and Cody breeeeeeze through the dress portion of the challenge. Cody’s laying down on his podium kicking around his legs, yelling directions at Noah with the stupidest look on his face. Noah makes it to the dress first and looks it up and down. Cody yells out “I THOUGHT THAT DRESS SUITED YOU WELL!!” Noah weakly yells back “Thank you Cody!” He’s not thrilled about wearing the dress, but he does appreciate Cody leading him to the one he’d be the most comfortable in.

* Noco’s the first ones to walk the tightrope. Cody looks down at the falls nervously, and Noah suggests carrying him instead. Cody stops him, insisting he can do it, and picks Noah up. Noah leans into him, getting comfortable. “If you insist, macho man.”

* Sierra and Tyler go after them and Sierra’s visibly upset. Tyler tries to mellow her out, suggesting that Cody and Noah are happy with each other and maybe she should let them be. Sierra stares at them as they talk about flower arrangements in their hypothetical wedding. She decides that no, she’s not quite ready to let them be, so she starts bouncing to make Tyler wobble and shake the line. It works and both couples fall.

* Cody manages to grab Noah in one arm and the line in another, though he’s struggling. Noah asks him if he can pull them back up (though he knows he can’t.) Cody tries anyway, and strains to the point of veins popping out of his neck. Noah tells him to stop.

* Alejandro and Courtney walk by and Alejandro “accidentally” kicks Cody’s hand off the line. Noco falls, screaming on the way down (“No!” in reality, “Asshole!” If I was allowed to curse.) Courtney is somewhat impressed by his ruthlessness. They win this challenge. Duncan and Heather were just bickering the whole time don’t worry about them.

* Duncan gets voted out for being a prick and a bastard. Courtney is ok with this.

FINALLY at the big reveal! So happy to be here!!

I don't know if I've made it clear, but Sierra has heavily tinted rose-colored glasses when it comes to Cody. She sees him with a dopey smile, she assumes she's won him over. She sees him blush and stumble through the challenges, she assumes his feelings for her are too overwhelming. And when she hears Cody and Noah kissed... It must've been Noah's fault. Noah must of manipulated him somehow. Noah must've gotten in his head, cause there's no way Cody would ever like anyone that wasn't her. Right...?

She's not right. It's gonna take a while for her to come to terms with it, though.

Bonus dialogue between team Chris I had to cut in favor of Noah chewing Sierra out:

Noah: He’s NOT a boyfriend and I didn’t do anything WRONG!!

Duncan: You don’t think kissing another girl’s guy is WRONG?

Owen: Woah woah woah, hold on! Noah wouldn’t do something like that! And he *just* said Cody’s not her boyfriend!

Noah: She’s only saying he is cause she’s DELUSIONAL.

Noah: He doesn’t even LIKE HER!

Duncan: How would you know?? How long have you been doing this [song and dance] exactly?

Owen: It couldn’t have been long! I would have known something about it, right?

Noah: …
