Lino Prints.
Photos of my actual lino prints. The first is all 22 individual lion cuts for the front of the cards and the second is 8 seperate designs for the back. Each one didn’t feel particularly right so I kept changing small details till I was happy with the outcomes.

Experimentation of other alternative styles for my tarot cards. I decided not to do watercolour because it takes far too long and it doesn’t give as much texture as Lino printing.

Third and final print of tarot box. I wasn’t happy with the previous two being they’ve smudged or the type wasn’t well written.

This is the process of adding plaster to the mould to actually make the palmistry hand prop. I probably had a messier process through because I’m just very messy. I planned how to do it and I’ve done it a few times before to practice but it never goes according to plan. Still comes out how I wanted it too though. At the end in banging to container to make sure all the air bubbles are out otherwise the whole thing could be ruined.

Three separate drafts of the publication to go inside the box with my tarot cards. It really helped printing each one to know exactly how it felt and look. I’m happy with the final one because it’s not over complicated. It has all the information I wanted to put into it and fits with the rest of the design

Mini portable studio. I know I am better at working from home. I get so much more done. So I decided to buy a small pop up ‘studio’ so I can take photos and edit them myself for my flat. This is really helpful for me especially being so close to deadlines.

Practicing lettering and words for tarot cards. I want to make sure that I get the thick’s and thins of the characters correctly.

A huge inspiration through out many of my projects was Mike Schultz. He is a print maker working with a lot of different techniques. But his linos are what I really am interested in. They’re bold and clean, usually in black ink too. My link prints take his boldness into consideration. However, I feel that when prints are a little messy they have more character.

Lino printing process. I’m very lucky to have all the tools to be able to print at home, although it causes a massive amount of mess.

Lino Prints
Here are the scans of my lino prints for my tarot cards. I love how they have come out, they’re detailed enough to see the plant but also still bold.
The last few designs are the back. I’ve had some trouble getting the design perfect but I think I’m happy with the 4th design. It gives a feeling of palmistry (divination similar to tarot cards) and still has the natural aspect with the leaves.

Development of the design for the back of my tarot cards.
I drew out a few ideas before putting one onto line. I did three in total because the previous ones didn’t have the right feel to them.
I wanted to do the image of a hand because that’s what you use to read tarot cards and also look after plants. I was also inspired by a lino print I did in 2nd year which is the first photo.
