I admit this likely isn’t the best idea I’ve had in a while, but screw it. I had the flu earlier this week and it kicked my butt. But when the idea of /not/ running this weekend crossed my mind Wednesday night, it was hard to bear. I’ve run a combination of the TCM events for the last four years and there was no way I was gonna miss year five. So after talking to a friend at work today who’s running the marathon with a slightly bum foot, I found myself driving to St. Paul earlier tonight to register for the #TC10k in the morning. And somehow I signed up for the 5k, too. 😉 (My version of retail therapy/impulse buying.) Good luck to all of the runners this weekend- it’s going to be amazing as always!

Today, I’m starting to get geared to for the @twincitiesinmotion events this weekend, but this time, I was debating whether I should even lace up my running shoes. After my cardiac arrest, I cancelled several plans: my tickets to see @beck at the @thearmoryshow went unused—even though I’ve never had a chance to see him live, and I had to passed on an opportunity to see the @packers in Lambeau—I barely could sit through a game on TV without 💤. But I drew my line in the sand at the #tc10k. That race was supposed to be a big event for me—my longest run ever and something I had been working toward all summer. And despite being thrown a curve ball, (or two: there’s also that #cancer diagnosis this spring) I didn't let that challenge go unmet. I ran slower than I had planned and kept going only out of thick-headed stubbornness, but despite a #cardiacarrest and #renalcancer, in two days, I'm taking another crack at the TC 10K (weather permitting). Oh, and this time, I’m not running just the 10K.
