Teeheeheehee workin on a hazbin OC inspired by the Great Gatsby (the movies and part scenes specifically), the burlesque scene, magpies, and fashion shows (specifically the catwalks).
She’s unnamed atm and this design is first draft, but basically she was a pinup model, burlesque dancer, and sugar baby when she was alive, and was kind of a kleptomaniac, driven by dreams of luxury and wealth. She was a party girl, she loved the attention, the way everything felt so bright and so Much. Kinda went wild at the end there, died in an unfortunate situation involving bad decisions and horrible vetting. Also she was pretty genderqueer and that was an Interesting Thing.
She’d always lived her life knowing she’d burn out quick, but at least it would be personalized fireworks.
Anyway she ends up in hell, rip. She’s devastated and terrified bc all the stuff she had, the things she’d been through just. Meant nothing now? And she was worse off than she’d been even before she began her career. She hangs out in clubs n shit bc it’s familiar (and safer than the literally on fire streets) in a sense, easier to get into the party scene and pretend she was alive instead of accept her death. She gets into modelling with Velvette and then Valentino gets his grubby ass moth hands on her after she hangs around too much w/ Angel and starts doing burlesque again on the side b/n modelling gigs. Working with Valentino starts out like a paradise—once again she’s the life of the party, flirting and dancing and wearing beautiful outfits, bathing in the spotlight. She opens shows for Angel, does waitress work, the occasional private show; it’s not too bad, especially with the lowered inhibitions caused by prolonged proximity to his smoke, and lowered standards considering it’s fucken hell. She enters a contract with Valentino once people start getting too close—she’d never been the sort to really interact with anyone beyond teasing gestures and flirting, and she trusted him as an associate of Velvette’s and she only knew the side of Angel presented on stage. Her relationship with Val is not at all romantic, though she’s closest to him out of necessity. She’s kind of friends w/ Angel? It’s a bit tense.
In hell, she’s always flickering. She’d gone out with a bang, and down here she was constantly smouldering, her performances and appearance feeling more like a costume with each passing day she remains. She knows heaven won’t take her (she’d been told *that* enough times), but perhaps the hotel would at least be safer?
