#tbh chainsawman is darker than jjk but imo it's also closer to be a seinen while jjk still feels like a full shonen

Note
does jjk deconstruct, avert or subvert classic shoes tropes? the way this seems to be all going, it doesn't exactlyl seem to be your classic shone manga and anime and isn't exactly the happiest story
Hi anon! I would say jjk does a bit of all the things you said
It keeps some classical shonen tropes like the main trio + cool sensei, the crazy power ups you don't always understand and the complicated fights and maybe some other things I'm forgetting, but it also completely lacks other typical shonen traits like the focus on romance between the main female lead and the male protagonist; speaking of female characters, they're also not sexualised at all even if they're portrayed as good looking (and sometimes also show a lot of skin like Tsukumo), and they aren't centered around a male character
And jjk doesn't use the "power of friendship", or rather uses it to make the characters grow stronger and but their strength doesn't make them beat enemies and death. Speaking of villains, they often win and the "good guys" aren't 100% good either, and some villains aren't 100% evil either like Geto, there's a lot of shadow
At this point I doubt we'll get a happy ending but ever since chapter 1 I don't think there were high chances of seeing all the characters living happily ever after - having at least half of the current cast still alive would be a good result lmao (jjk isn't called "dark shonen" without reason after all 🥲)
