I’ve always wanted to sew my own clothes but tbh I’ve always been Extremely Intimidated by all the Things and there’s so much learning and I was badly hampered by an awful Wal-Mart sewing machine for many years, so that even though I now have a beautiful vintage 1960s Singer machine that sews like a dream, I still have this instinctual flinching response when I think of using it.

Most of the sewing I’ve done is historical anyway, and also modern fashion doesn’t super appeal... but I’d love to make my own clothes in old fashion styles or in fantasy-esque styles, and to do that, I’m just gonna have to get over myself and learn to sew properly, not just bits and pieces of knowledge.

I guess I’m secretly worried that I actually Hate Sewing and am afraid of commitment, because my lack of knowledge or good tools = FRUSTRATION, so I associate the sewing process with frustration. Which isn’t actually fair, I realize, because I do like making things, I love the feeling of a well-fitted garment, and I love to hand sew. 

Basically I need to get over myself and make some goddamned garments!
