Simon definitely would know how to cook bc he has a single working mother so definitely would need to help around the house and its already been established that he sees himself as one of the caretakers in his family and want to help out. (Also beacuse literally every normal kid has to cook for there parents sometimes, and helps there parents with the cooking) But he probably sees it as a chore- not something he would ever complain about bc there's no need to stress his mum out and he's fine with doing it- but also not something he particularly enjoys. I also don't think that when he does cook he would be slaving away behind the stove for hours creating a masterpiece or anything, he probably just whips up a quick, not super interesting, but overall pretty average dinner after school (something like the spagatti with *gags* ketchup we see them eating in season 1), so that Linda can put her feet up after a long day at work.

Wilhelm on the other hand has never had to cook in his life, and now that he's abdicated he is really excited that he can now do normal things (Sara has definitely complained about how happy Wille is while doing the dishes "he wont stop humming its driving me up the wall", but Simon is just pleased his boyfriend gets to have all the experiences that he missed out on growing up.) So Wille is super excited to try cooking he bought like 1000 different recipie books after he abdicated and Simon even bought him a frog apron when he saw how hyped up Wille was.

The problem is Wille is STRUGGLING to intrepret the recipies, see he wasn't allowed in the palace kitchens, so he never had the experiences of ranting to your parents about god knows what- while they cook and asking questions about everything they do bc ur 5 that the rest of us did, and since he never grew up watching people cook he never got the chance to subconsciously pick up on how to do it! So at first he would be so confused at the terms his recipie books were using, and would scour the web trying to find out "what the fuck simmer means!" stressing that his attempt to make Simon the perfect dinner would fail again (and it did), and even when he gets Simon to explain the terms you know Wille's Autistic ass doesn't understand the relative concepts he uses "What does until brown mean Simon?? There are many shades of brown like technically that chicken I tried to make you yesterday was just a really dark brown... and that was inedible." "Well I cant remeber the exact colour of potatos of the top ofmy head so how do i know if I'll know it when i see it" "And you just said that if you cook things on a really high heat it can burn on the outside with the inside not being cooked through so how do I know if my potatoes are cooked through??? *hyperventilating bc not understanding is making him panic and he keeps on forgetting that this is actually a very low stakes situation*" (Simon had to cuddle him for half an hour and agree to help him make cooking index cards with photos on to calm him down)

And so Willes first hundred recipes are burned or undercooked messes, and Simon has to comfort him after and quickly make something simple for dinner. But Wille is a man on a mission, more specifically a mission to be able to make the delicious Venezuelan dishes that Simons abuela always made and that Simon always misses (bc he and his mother never have the time or energy to make) and he will not be dettered. And after months of failed attempts he learns from his mistakes and learned that due to his total lack of skills and prior knowledge even a simple roast was to advanced to start, and he would have beter luck starting with recipe books designed for kids because they introduce concepts well and build up difficulty... he improves! And once he managed to get that feel for it he gets beter and beter and pretty soon is pretty great at cooking (bc he already had the patience and the dedication and now he has the skill) and even expirementing with recipies!

Which Simon loves bc Wille cooking is the cutest thing ever (he stims comfortably like no one is watching and is so giddy with happiness when anything turns out well) and now he doesn't have to worry about putting out any fires, and while Simon and Linda would just cook to have something to eat Wille cooks to have an expirence while eating (basically it's delicious.) And Wille loves it because this is is something he enjoys so much and he knows he would never have been able to do this all if he hadn't abdicated!

And it even helps him connect with Simon's family, bc after Wille cooked Linda's favorite meal for her for her birthday (which he perfected after shyly asking Simon for his abuela's number so he could get tips) and he saw her wipe away a tear, he knew there was no way she had lingering anger towards him for everything that went down. And Linda, Salice and Wilmon go to vist there family in Venezuela (a trip that Simon reluctantly agreed to let Wilhelm help pay for after realising how much his mother missed her home country), and Simon's abuela LOVES Wilhelm, and they spend most of there days just cooking side by side and chatting. And Simon gets a little emotional seeing his boyfriend -whose own mother was cold and distant growing up- finally have a warm affectionate mother figure in his life who loves him unconditionally, shares his intrests and celebrates him for who he is. And Simons abuela threatens to not let Wille leave and pretty soon they have a triweekly video call with her and and and

So yeah basically I think Simon can cook but isn't at all passionate about it, but Wille loves to cook for him after he learns, I am so normal about them I swear
