thinking about this first post, particularly in relation to the second. the first is, i presume, mostly referring to the unwillingness in feminist spaces to see trans women or any amab person's socialization as fluid and also informed by patriarchal forces (misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, gender nonconformity, intersexuality, etc.) and she is so right. the only context upon which birth sex is necessary to mention is reproductive issues and health conditions (& medical misogyny pertaining to) people born typically female, but afab+amab is often used as "people who experience misogyny and people who don't," respectively. a dedicated erasure to transmisogyny
the mra-ass post on the right really hinges upon this idea that there is a unity of experience for amab people, so, an erasure of cis male violence and a negation of the differences in cis male and trans female socialization. i think, in that way, the criticism of the first post also applies.
women fear men for good reason. cis autistic men are not exempt from perpetuating gendered violence. acknowledging the farce of chivalry as if it's a legitimate show of the social order (a social order of "female privilege") is about as ridiculous as terfs claiming trans people have systemic power. like, saying outing yourself as trans led to Better treatment is just an absurd statement no matter how you look at it. people take men's words about their knightly code of behaviour with more weight than they do the inescapable material violence against women.
it's basic misogyny, but i also wonder if this rhetoric in the trans community could've been avoided if the complexity of trans female socialization was addressed, and transmisogynyistic conflations of trans women and cis men were not made. probably not much, as the left is still so apologetic to men and their misogyny. if you can't escape allegations of being a man despite your material conditions being incredibly far removed from cis men's, the only natural conclusion is to absolve men. but, as trans women are women, this inability to criticize men is equally, if not more, damaging to them than it is to cis women.
#the claims of 'male-on-male' violence come to mind. interesting how that language mimics another concept -#- made to delegitimize violence.#trans inclusive radical feminism#agab#gendered socialization#tbf i think a lot of why left op may have better takes is bc of the state of existing as a black trans lesbian#not being white makes you less silly#and most trans lesbians i know can criticise men harshly without putting themselves in proximity to them#specifically because they understand the violence of heterosexuality + its ties to gender- and have rejected it for themselves
