As for your question, I feel your pain man! I usually have to work it out in my head a bit before I settle on one tbh.

Usually, I consider the parts of canon that I like and/or feel could be good for my inserts background, moveset, etc. But after a while I've grown more used to defaulting somewhat I like regardless of canon too? Like, you do it for a little and start caring less I think? XDD
