Kaibutsu Pet 2

Following on from my previous post, this little guy is known as a ‘Tanuki” or raccoon dog. He’s most well known in the Western world for being a suit that the Italian Plumber, Mario is able to obtain in Super Mario Bros.

In Japanese culture, however, these guys are known to use their testicles to transform in various things, objects, animals, or even human beings. They’re quite mischievous and are known to play tricks on humans.

Kaibutsu Pet

For my final project at The University of Leeds, I’m creating a virtual pet app that is based on Japanese folklore characters known as “Yokai”.

I have completed three of the characters so far, and I am immensly enjoying designing these little guys.

This character is known as a ‘Kitsune’ and is a messenger of the gods.

自分はインターネットからの出会いなど全く考えたことも、自分に起こるとか全く予想してへんかったーーー

でもあるねんなそんな事。

最初は「イイね」から会話になって、メッセージのやり取りがはじまって、Snapchatになって。

話してたらそのInstagramの男の子はイギリスに住んでて、同い年。めっちゃ優しくて、面白くて、イケメン。。。ニヒヒ

英語はカナダで2カ月ホームステイしてて仕事場もアメリカ英語が多かったから、アメリカ英語には多少慣れてたけど、イギリス英語は正直何て言ってるかもわからんぐらいやったから電話とかになったらどーしようって思ってた笑

ある日RichくんからFaceTimeが！！！

酔っ払った勢いでかけてきたやつ笑こっちは出勤前笑

びっくりするぐらいアメリカ英語:)

よかったーーー会話できる！！笑

今では毎日の日課になってる。

今は9時間の時差があるけどお互いに時間見つけて話してる。

こんなに毎日FaceTimeで顔見て声聞いてるのにあった事ない。なんか変な感じ

でも今までになく毎日が楽しい！！！

これから2人のゲイの国際カップルの色々をこのブログに書いて行きたいと思います:)

2. 11 DAYS!!

11 days from today I will be collecting my boyfriend from the airport and we will be meeting each other face to face for the first time. My stomach is already jumping around at the idea of it now, so I’m quite sure when I’m driving down it will be leaping out of my throat!

We have decided that we will be recording our journeys, his from Japan and mine from Leeds to meeting in the airport, which we then upload as the first video on our YouTube channel, hopefully that will be a lovely and enjoyable video to watch. I’m head over heels for the boy, and I’ve just finished all of my university assignments, so now I can sit back and just be excited that I get to see him in less than 2 weeks!!

I think I might have to employ a little bit of Dutch courage while I’m in the airport waiting, that’s not a bad thing, right…?

1. NO GAY INTERRACIAL WHITE / ASIAN BLOGS?

I’ve recently entered into a relationship with a wonderful guy of the Japanese variety. We’ve really hit it off and we have been FaceTime-ing one another for a good three hours every day for the last three weeks or so.

Although it doesn’t sound particularly long, it really does feel like I’ve known him forever. Now it may be that I’m just in the ‘honeymoon’ period and I know we haven’t actually met in real life yet, but I’ve never really felt this ‘real’ about a relationship.

So I wanted to research and learn more about interracial / international relationships. I found some amazing blogs and channels (Texan in Toyko, Rachel & Jun for example) but nothing I found really pertained to the struggles and pros of being in a Japanese/Western (Anglo-American) gay relationship and I thought it might be beneficial to others if I started this blog of my experiences for others to see.

I hope this helps and people are interested in what I have to say, although I’m clearly not an expert on the matter at the minute. I’m just an army brat from Michigan who ended up living in the UK and hopefully one day in Japan.
