Blocking some of the doilies I've crocheted and tatted out of colored thread through the last couple years. The large tatted doily is Renulek's spring doily 2022, the long narrow pink and yellow one is Tatting By The Bay's onion ring magic square. Many of the crochet patterns are ones designers have posted for free on their instagram, but some are also "pirated" from instagram as well. Made with both vintage and modern threads.

💖 Commission Post 💖
Hii, I'm Iris and I'm making tatted doilies! I'm currently a full time student dealing with long covid on top of an already stressful senior year, and I would like to be able to make some extra money to buy groceries and stuff.
At least 10% of each order will go towards a mutual aid fund, I can provide proof if requested!
Examples of my work:
Prices tend to start at $10 and go up depending on size/difficulty, but I can work on a sliding scale!

The first 'petals' are filled! Need to put a net-like stitch or some bars to hold the petals in place before buttonholing the cordonnet and (finally) trim the loose ends of this section.
Stitch Guide \/
Pic 2: Pea stitch
Pic 3 top arch: Single Brussels
Pic 3 bottom 'Fan': Not a formal stitch- just something I came up with on the spot. I just looped thread around the bottom center point, took it up over and behind the cordonnet between stitches, and brought it back down- No loop/knot at the top. Then repeated that again alternating sides until the space was full.

Finished tatting, blocking, and hanging the Moonbeam doily inspired by the Lover era fans from the Eras Tour. I used a metal wreath ring so that I could mount it to the wall and maintain the stretch.

I've been between tatting projects for a while, but I like to have one to fiddle with during meetings so I've started a new doily. took me FOREVER to understand the instructions for that second round... I knew how to do a split ring, but I couldn't figure out how to do a split ring with another ring coming off the side like that. turns out I was trying to do it upside down. whoops!

people who make doilies, of any crafting method, how do you use them? I’ve fallen in love with all these crocheted doily patterns but I don’t know what I’ll do with them all once I make them…

More tatting! This one from a “Tatted Medallion” pattern by Nancy Tracy
I really love this craft. It’s so satisfying to make pretty little lacy things, even though I have no idea what I’m going to do with them.
Also, while this is probably at least partly a function of how tiny the things I’ve made so far are, tatting does not use up thread anywhere NEAR as quickly as crochet. I made this with a roll of Aunt Lydia Classic 10 I thought was basically done for, and I have enough to left to make at least one more shuttle-and-ball item.
