In My Reality | Chapter 3: A Taste Of What's To Come
Heyo, the original upload of this was deleted for some reason, so I'm reuploading it. I hope y'all enjoy it! ^-^
(This is a Tatsumi Brothers x Reader)
(To read the first three parts, click -> Prologue, Chapter 1, & Chapter 2)
(Click “Keep Reading” to read the story)
Tumblr media
"Alright, so let me get this straight to make sure I'm not hearing-"
I paused as I watched Takeyasu flip the bacon, flinching each time I heard the grease sizzle. As much as I love Takeyasu as a character, the fandom base often headcanon him setting the kitchen on fire. It was funny as a joke and a meme, but seeing him cooking in my kitchen, in reality, I can't help but feel paranoid.
"...things..." my eyes looked away from the stove and turned to Nagayuki. "A mysterious dude in a top hat showed up at your door, claiming to be the organizer of something you were going to attend and that he was there to fulfill a wish you two had as well as a third person's wish, then comes back an hour later and teleports you two into my dimension?"
"You left out the part he was a hologram but yeah, you got everything else," Nagayuki confirmed getting out the plates.
"Okay, that explains things," I muttered thinking back to the dreams I had the day prior.
"You actually believe us?" Takeyasu questioned, glancing at me over his shoulder and raising a brow.
"Uh- Takeyasu, the food-" I voiced my concern to make the younger Tatsumi brother turn his attention back to the breakfast cooking on the frying pans. Shaking my head to focus back on the topic, I replied to his question. "I sorta had a dream...? Vision...? Usually, I get these kinds of things when I sleep which happen later on in the future and when it happens at the moment it's just this freaky deja vu. I guess you could say I had that but it was exactly what you guys just told me."
"Oh, so you have an ability like us?" Takeyasu guessed as he turned off the stove, seems like the food's done.
"I- no- no, I don't have any superpowers." I waved my hands in front of me. "People in this place don't have supernatural abilities like where you come from. I'm just some random person who writes stories on the internet, I don't have superpowers."
If anything, it's just a coincidence that happens. Everyone gets deja vu from time to time so it's nothing special. Then again, there were a few times when I did something subconsciously and my friends jokingly asked if I was physic. I'm not physic, right?
"If you say so." Nagayuki didn't let the topic press further and opened the fridge, getting orange juice. I felt a bit relieved.
"Hey, you know our names but we don't know yours!" Takeyasu pointed out.
"I-" I turned away, now realizing that too. 'Have I really gone on this long without mentioning my name?! Geez, I knew I had a problem remembering to mention important stuff but this is just sad.'
"Did you forget your name or-?"
"No, I'm just- never mind." I shook my head. "My name's [Name]."
"[Name]?"
"[Name]..." Takeyasu repeated after his brother. "Hm, weird name."
"It's not that weird," I grumbled. "You're just from a different world."
"Then what are-"
"Are you two going to continue flirting with each other or are we going to have breakfast?" Nagayuki intercepted and placed the glasses of orange juice on the table
"We're not flirting," I said, averting my eyes.
"Whatever you say," the elder twin shrugged and took his seat as the other gave him his plate. "Not bad bro."
Takeyasu then placed a plate of bacon, eggs, and sausages in front of me. A warm aroma engulfed my senses, I could practically taste the delicious food from the smell alone. Could it be the fandom was wrong or is it because he's from an Anime that the food he cooks is automatically better? Poking my fork into one of the sausages and taking a bite, I was greeted by a sensation of flavour.
"Mmmmm, this is good," I complimented.
"See, now you know I'm not making this up," Nagayuki nudged his brother.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So about that 'proper sleeping place'," Takeyasu began as he placed his dishes on the counter.
"What?" I inquired confused since my mind was preoccupied with putting dish soap in the sink to clean dishes with.
"Remember yesterday you said we'd get a 'proper sleeping place' tomorrow," Takeyasu reminded me.
"Oh, right... I did say that... uhhhhhh-" I racked my brain trying to come up with what to do for them since Takeyasu clearly wasn't satisfied with the quick arrangements I made last night.
"You did have something in mind, right?" Nagayuki questioned, placing his dish next to his brother's.
"Well... there is a futon in the gaming area that could fit in my room, I'd need help bringing it up to my room though," I tell them putting the soap back in the cupboard.
"We can get it in your room no problem," Takeyasu smirked.
"Just show us where it is and leave the rest to us," Nagayuki added.
"Alright- uh- follow me."
Leading the way to the basement stairs, I opened the door and climbed down the steps. Passing the guest room and furnace room, we entered the open gaming area. I gestured to the futon off to the side, though I don't think that's what they're looking at-
"This place is like an arcade!" Takeyasu exclaims shuffling through the video game collection.
"You even got some of the classic consoles," Nagayuki commented as he checked out the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis sitting next to each other amongst the various systems.
"Y-yeah, me and my brother are pretty big gamers," I explained. "It's great for when our friends come over, but most of the time it's just me and my brother hanging down here."
It's been a while since I've been down here with my brother, I mean I did come down here once or twice over the break, but I don't hang around this place as much as I used to. I think it started back when I started watching Anime, I suppose that means I prioritized being a weeb over a gamer. I do miss the endless days of gaming away with my brother though, it seemed those days were when the world was simple to us, I wonder where they went...
"[Name]," Takeyasu called my name and turned around holding up a familiar Wii game. "How good are you at Mario Kart?"
"Well~" I smirked. "Not to brag but I get 1st place every time. The only worthy opponent I have is my brother."
"We'll see about that," he smirked with a challenging sparkle reflecting in his teeth.
"You guys sure are big Mario fans," Nagayuki commented seeing a large amount of Mario games in the collection.
"Yeah, I mean Mario games are perfect multiplayer games for four people..." I paused, I felt like I'm forgetting something. "Oh! The dishes!" I had left the tap on when I went to the game room, it's probably overflowing now. I darted for the stairs. "The futon is in the corner, you guys! You're just gonna have to bring upstairs yourself."
Sliding into the kitchen, I could see the bubbles overflowing into the opposite sink. I turned off the tap in the bubbly sink and then moved it over to try and clear the other from soap. Once that was down I started to place dishes in the bubbly sink. My brain tuned out the world around me, my mind fixated on the task at hand thanks to the mini adrenaline panic that shot into my veins when I realized I left the sink on. Scrubbing away at the dishes, I almost missed the loud bang behind me, I flinched and glanced back.
"Oi! Be more careful!" I scolded the twins. Thankfully, they only hit the railing.
"Sorry," Nagayuki apologized.
I sweatdrop seeing the elder twin flying up the steps while his brother carried it normally. I don't know about you, but that seems unbalanced if you ask me. I shake my head and turn back to the dishes. Knowing me, I'd just get anxious watching them move that futon the way they are, I just have to trust they know what they're doing. Oh, would you look at that, the dishes are washed.
Draining the sink, I hang the wet cloth over the faucet and rinse the bubbles down the drain. Sliding over to the cabinet, I reach in and take out a drying cloth. I took a quick glance behind me to check on the brothers' progress and it seems they made it up the stairs. I grab a frying pan, beginning to dry the dishes when I notice my phone on the table light up. Putting the pan away and grabbing another dish to dry, I walked over to my device and tapped the screen.
'Great, it's on 5%,' I grumbled in my thoughts. My eyes gazed over the time, 1:03 pm.
'Shit!'
A text from my brother.
"We're on our way home."
'Shit! I gotta dry these dishes faster!'
I slip my phone into my pocket and put the dish in my hand away, hastily picking up the next one. They can't see the pans or spatulas out. They know I don't cook breakfast, I just get myself cereal! Or toast if I feel like making something. It'd be hella suspicious if pans were out. I can't let them see this-
"Hey [Name]-"
"AH!" I jumped and hugged the pan close to my chest, trying to grip myself to reality. Turning around I see Nagayuki floating behind me, no wonder I didn't hear anything. "Yes?"
"Where do you want us to put the futon?" Nagayuki asked, he probably said something after that but I didn't have time to know what he saying.
That door is going open any second and they're going to see Nagayuki standing in the kitchen! Well, not right away since the garage door is in the staircase to the basement. Still! I need to get the dishes done and for Nagayuki not to be here out in the open.
"Just put the futon in my closet and put your blankets and pillow with it," I instructed as I put the pan away, moving onto the plates. "And hide whatever stuff you have for now. I'll figure it out later. Just not right now, they're almost home and my phone is basically dead so I can't see their text, and I need to get these dishes dried-" I glance back and find he's gone.
Did... Did I imagine them? Were they hallucinations? No, no, hallucinations can't make dishes dirty. That and I can smell his scent. Wait, that sounds weird.
"[Name], we're home!" mom announced entering the main floor from the garage.
"AH!" I jump and then scramble to put the rest of the dishes away, dry or not. I catch my breath once I finish and lean against the counter just as they enter the kitchen. "Y'all startled me."
"Oh, you're down here," mom said surprised to see me somewhere that wasn't my room.
"Y-yeah, I just got up and finished breakfast," I half lied.
"And you did dishes," she acknowledged glancing at the clear counters.
"Yeah, I thought, might as well, ya know?"
"Hey sis, you wanna watch Code Geass?" [B/n] piped in before my mom could question me.
"Sure." I nodded with a smile, grateful that he interjected.
"Great, I just gotta put my stuff away," he told me, leaving the kitchen.
"Alright." I should turn on the TV then- wait... HE'S GOING UPSTAIRS! "Wait! Wait!"
I dashed up the stairs after him. He's going to see them! He's already upstairs and heading down the hall to our bedrooms! If the door's open he can just glance inside and see them vibing. Sweating bullets I slide down the hall only to see my door is closed.
"Phew..." I lean against the door relieved until I felt myself fall forward because the door wasn't properly closed! "Ow..."
"You okay, [Name]?" my brother asked popping out of his room to check on me.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." I reply rubbing the back of my head.
"Since when do you make your bed?"
"Huh?" I followed his gaze into my room, both of us confused.
All the sheets were neatly tucked and the pillows were plush and in the open, quite the foreign sight. Usually, if my bed did get made, the sheets would still be loose at the ends and cover the pillows. I know I didn't make my bed, that means someone else did. Right, the Tatsumi Brothers!
'Wait, where are they?' I wondered scanning my room and finding no trace of them. 'They couldn't have vanished, right?'
"Whatever, I'll meet you down there." My brother shrugged off the anomaly, walking away from the scene.
"Okay, I just gotta do something..." I wait until he's out of sight before slipping into my room and closing the door behind me. I do another sweep around my room, plugging in my phone while I was at it. I couldn't find them.
"Guys, he's not around anymore, you can come out." Just as I began to think they weren't real, I heard the window slide open. Spinning around, I see the twins climb down into my room.
"That was close," Nagayuki commented.
"Yeah," I agreed as I sat in my beanbag. "Where did you guys hide exactly?"
"On the roof."
"Smart- well as long as no one saw you on the roof- no one saw you guys up there, right?"
"Relax, sneaking around is our specialty," Takeyasu reassured me. "We never get caught."
"It wouldn't be hard if you learned to be more cautious," Nagayuki stated, sitting down in the desk chair.
"Hey, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't know where to go to avoid the opposition," the younger twin countered, pointing a finger at his brother. Before they could argue further, I clap my hands together bringing their attention to me.
"Alright, it's daytime, my family is home and doing things around the house, y'all can't get caught so you need to stay in my room," I remind them.
"Can't we go outside?" Takeyasu asked.
"Did you forget what I said yesterday about you two being fictional characters that need disguises?"
"[Name], we packed other clothes," Nagayuki deadpanned.
"Well, I still don't trust you two to be out 'n' about on your own," I said standing up and folding my arms. "I know you're warriors where you come from but you don't have that title anymore and half the things you did from what the Anime shows are illegal. I don't want to end up in jail for hiding criminals."
"I don't th-"
"Alright, we'll stay here, [Name]," Nagayuki interrupted his brother. The younger twin was about to protest when he continued. "As long as we get to go out tonight."
"I can work with that," I nod and unfold my arms.
"What are we supposed to do in the meantime?" Takeyasu inquired, raising an invisible brow.
"Uhh..." I went through my mind trying to think what would entertain the Tatsumi Brothers. 'What do they like? What do they like that's not hazardous?' My brain played clips of their episodes when I recalled how much they like to do stuff involving money. "You guys know about stocks and crypto, right?"
"Yes and no," they both answered in sync.
"Well-" I moved to my laptop opening a new browser window and clicking a few bookmarks. The tabs were: A YouTube playlist for learning about cryptocurrency, stockmarket charts for cryptocurrency, and a website where you can buy crypto. "You guys can learn about crypto and their markets then buy & sell them."
"We don't have bank accounts registered yet."
"That's fine, you can use mine," I told them, they both seem taken aback by this.
"Are you sure?" Takeyasu questioned after exchanging a glance with his brother.
"Yeah, I mean you guys are probably better with money than I am. Besides, I've been meaning to get into this stuff but I never make time to learn about it."
"Can't trust us to go for a walk but you trust us with your money, I wonder if that says something more about us or you," Takeyasu mumbled under his breath as he takes a look at the stock market with the elder brother.
He's got a point. Should I be trusting them with my money? It's not like they're going to rob me, they're just learning about crypto. Besides, I know Nagayuki at least will be intrigued by this concept.
"Someone's coming," Takeyasu alerted, pulling me out of my river of thoughts. "It's your brother." He must've known from the weight of the footsteps.
"I'll be back later with food," I promised as walked to my door. I look back to see them nod, I smile and creak my door open, slipping out and closing it behind me.
"Hey, what took you so long?" [B/n] asked, stopping halfway in the hall.
"Sorry bro, I got distracted by notifications," I lied, beginning to head down the stairs. "You got it set up?"
"Yup, just waiting for you sis."
"Great," I grin as I follow him to the living room.
Who knew having fictional characters around would be stressful?
Can I get the Tatsumi brothers x fem! reader with the Christmas prompt "HOLIDAY HUG!"
I’m not dead! I promise. Sorry this took so long!
The holidays were chaotic, as usual. Between a grown woman shoving you aside while you were shopping to grab whatever item they needed (of which there were many but apparently that was the pack of socks she wanted), the yelling, the entitlement, the same stupid songs playing fifty times over...you just about had it. For as picture perfect as movies tried to make holidays out to be, it brought out the worst in pretty much everyone, except two people. Nagayuki and Takeyasu.
Somehow the holidays brought out the better part of the two brothers. They played a pair of Robin Hoods and would throw money at anyone and everyone who looked their direction, albeit sometimes hitting them in the face with a wad of money. Heck, they didn’t even have to look at them they just had to be living and within arms reach. They fed into the chaos, and embraced it. For all the bad things they did, every now and again they could do something nice.
You got home, and unlocked your door, throwing your keys in the little dish Nagayuki had gotten you as a gift. He’d gotten it for you after you asked him to help find your keys one to many times (though you still misplaced them every now and again). You didn’t notice the little Santa hat that way not ontop of the dragon dish’s head. You rubbed your eyes , and sneezed. It smelled like cinnamon...suspicious. You used your free hand to click on the lights, and were nearly blinded.
You blinked and had to wait for your eyes to adjust.
The lights were hung up around the ceiling and floorboards. The suspicious cinnamon smell came from the pinecones sitting on your kitchen counter (you were just glad it wasn’t from Takeyasu trying to cook). The boys were smugly leaning on a few chairs. at the kitchen table, and behind them you quickly spotted two very messy gingerbread houses.
“Ha! The look on your face is priceless,” Takeyasu had his phone out, as did his bother. However, Takeyasu was the one going out of his way to get a good picture of your shock.
“Since it’s been kinda busy we thought we’d take it upon ourselves to decorate,” Nagayuki did a wide gesture of the room. You didn’t have to see any other areas of your home to know it also probably looked like the Holiday itself threw up in it. Hallmark would be proud.
You couldn’t help but tear up a little bit. It was beautiful, but the thought that they both went out of their way to make it nice for you warmed your heart. You didn’t even mind that there were questionable scorch marks on part of the ceiling.
“Holiday Hug!” Takeyasu yelled moments before you were engulfed in their arms, almost falling to the floor. Maybe the Holidays were worth the chaos.
“Come on, you gotta make your gingerbread house too!”
A/N: my stories are either borderline platonic and suggestive dating. It's more of the crack side of fiction. I'm use on doing Female readers but can do gender neutral reader too. Most fanfic are gender neutral reader except it's stated otherwise in the story (oracle) this is a sideblog of @BeelzebubButaChef . There's many grammar and spelling mistakes. Hopefully they'll be fix soon when I edited them.
⁂ Meaningful (Ryuuichi Sanada) I Adore You
📑 Table of Contents
Pairing: Reader x Ryuuichi Sanada
❝ a kiss on the hand means, I adore you. ❞
Oga and Furuichi were frozen solid in shock when you happened to mention who you were dating, not able to believe what they heard, but you didn’t think it was such a big deal – they were just overreacting.
You rolled your eyes as you moved to sit, pulling baby Beel into your lap, playing with a toy that Hilda had brought him. The two males were staring at the place on the roof where you had previously stood, their eyes wide and their mouths hanging open.
“You’re catching flies,” Hilda called monotonously, not really caring about the two idiots.
They snapped out of it, turning their heads to you as they both started yelling at the same time. You ignored them, not even bothering to try and make out what they were saying. Finally, they shut up, breathing heavily, and you took this time to speak.
“It’s not that big of a deal, guys. Stop being dramatic,” you ruffled baby Beel’s green hair and he giggled. It was hard to imagine the fact that such a cute baby was destined to be a demon lord. You shook your head and stood up, handing Beel over to Hilda before leaving the two to their yelling as you exited the roof. The object of their yelling was at the bottom of the stairs, about to start up, but he paused when he saw you.
You smiled when you reached the bottom of the steps, grabbing Ryuuichi’s hand.
He grinned, walking in step beside you, his tongue ring glistening when he spoke. “I was just comin’ to look for ya, doll.”
“I was with Tatsumi and Takayuki,” you murmured softly. You didn’t even have to look at him to know that he was scowling.
“I wish ya wouldn’t hang out with those idiots.”
“I know you don’t like them,” you sighed, turning to look at him. “But I’ve been friends with the two since we were little kids.”
“I know,” he scoffed, turning his head away from you. He muttered under his breath to himself, but you caught what he said. “That’s what I’m worried about.”
“They’re idiots, though,” you glanced at him, making sure to let him know that nothing would happen between you and the two boys. “Oga is like a brother and Furuichi… I’m pretty damn sure something is going on between him and Alaindelon.”
Ryuuichi’s lips twitched up and he brought your entwined hands to his mouth, placing a kiss on the back of your hand. His eyes shined as they locked with your own, allowing you to see a softer side of the chainsaw bearing second-year. You knew by that gesture alone that he adored you, just as much as you adored him.
In My Reality | Prologue
Hey, I was bored so I decided to start a fanfic series of the Tatsumi Brothers from Juuni Taisen. Yay
It’s a “Tatsumi Brother x Reader” story about how the Tatsumi Brothers enter the reader’s reality which kinda flips her world upside down.
So I just finished the prologue. If you guys like it or if I’m bored again, I’ll make the first chapter. (Click “Keep Reading” to read the story)
Tumblr media
"[Name] get out of bed; It's 3 in the afternoon," my mom told me as she came into my room with fresh, clean clothes. I didn't have to look over to know.
Groaning, I removed my mask from my eyes then rolled over to face up at the white ceiling. The sunlight seeping in from the blinds caused my sight to cringe before it finally adjected to the light and I could see the grey walls lurking in the corner of my eyes. Arising from my queen-sized bed a yawn escaped from my mouth. My form reached over and placed my sleep mask on the nightstand, next to my water mug.
"Morning mom," I greeted her as she sorted out the pile of clothes on my dresser. Looks like she did a colour load, which means no pants to put away.
"Morning sweetheart. Can you put your clothes away before you come downstairs?"
"Sure," I simply answered as I slipped out of the cozy sheets I once was tangled in.
"Thank you. I'll see you when you come down," she stated, placing the last of my t-shirts neatly on the others. Afterwards, she wrapped her arms around the remaining clean, clothes that weren't mine, carefully balancing them as she left my room and closed the door behind.
The click of the doorknob echoed into my ears when my feet landed on the fuzzy rug. My eyes drifted their gaze to the plain black bodypillow wrapped in [f/c] blankets, reminding me of a burrito. It just had the colour for the case, no special Anime character on it. I wish there were one though; it'd make the nights seem less lonely to see my favourite character's face on it. However, a pillow is a pillow. Despite me using it as an illusion for myself it doesn't change the reality that when I hug it in my sleep or when I'm awake no arms will return my embrace.
A sigh falls out of my breath, my eyelids dropping in sync. I turned my head away from the lying pillow and dragged myself to the other side of my bed, towards the dresser that patiently held the clean clothes my mom put there. I opened a drawer, putting my undergarments away first then my socks. Once those were put away, I moved to retrieve hangers from my closet, passing by my desk and shelves as I did.
If you were wondering why I slept so late into the afternoon, well, it's currently winter break, so that means I can stay up late and sleep in late past noon. Sadly enough, it's January which means the break almost over, and that means school is standing around the corner, menacingly. Just the thought of it disturbs my mind as that reality tries to infect my thoughts.
I hate reality. I know not all of it is shit, but there's enough of it that makes me want to drown myself in the world of fiction. Whenever it's the weekend or breaks from school, I binge Anime, tv shows, YouTube, and movies, so that's the only thing on my mind. I then write or read fanfiction, there is the rare occasion I sketch something but I'm not good at art since I don't practice enough. By the time I return to reality after having my head stuck in my imagination for so long, I can barely focus without going back to daydreaming. Eventually, that wears off, and then reality is what floods my brain; I despise it but I know I can't be stuck in my fantasies forever. Luckily my friends provide that nice spot in-between for me, helping me stay in the real world but also let me discuss the fictional. Then there's also my bro.
"Yo sis," my brother's voice called from the other side of the door after his fist knocked on it. "You wanna continue Code Geass?"
My bro is the best. Unlike most siblings I know, we actually get along. He's also a big help in my life, one of the reasons why I haven't lost my mind. He makes sure I don't overwork & stress myself and reminds me to have fun and chillax. I love him for it, and he's practically my best friend. We aren't the exact same age but we were born in the same year, just a few months apart so we get to be in the same grade. He's the older one. He's also taller which means he can t-pose over me, and we reenact the meme; it's great.
"Yeah," I answered. "Just let me get ready."
"Alright," he replied before I felt the vibration of his footsteps grow distant from my room.
'Heh, if I had Takeyasu's ability, I'd be able to sense his movement better.'
I chuckle to myself at the thought floating in my mind as I put the final shirt away. My two favourite characters that I desired to be real was the Tatsumi Brothers, Nagayuki and Takeyasu. I love those two. Whenever I watched their episodes from Juuni Taisen, I always smile. They make my heart feel something that I never felt for any character before. I don't want to be cliche and say true love, but to me, that's what it feels like. I know they're fictional characters, so I won't get much out of it, but strangely enough, I'm okay with that. I can't imagine my heart belonging to anyone else. I do wish they were real, though. I even used my wish on the bracelet my friend, Meri-chan, got for my birthday one year, that they'd become real.
The bracelet was some urban legend. It was lime green and had a few beads on it. The legend goes that you make a wish and when the bracelet breaks, your wish has come true. 'Course, it's most likely a bunch of baloney but that didn't stop me from wishing that the Tatsumi Brothers would become real. I currently just wear the bracelet as an accessory since the wish probably won't happen, it's not like the thing is going to break anytime soon.
Grabbing my towel, my other hand opened my door. I slipped down the hallway and slid into the bathroom, my foot pushing the door closed as I put the towel on the towel rack. Hopefully, I don't take too long because we were left on edge on the last episode of Code Geass we watched. Well, I'll finish sooner than my wish coming true that's for sure, heh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay bro but if you think about it, Lelouch-"
"[Name], I washed your school uniforms. Can you put them away while I start on tacos?" Mom requested from the kitchen, interrupting the Anime, my commentary, and reminding me that school is coming soon. "You too, [b/n]."
"Yes, mom," we both respond.
My brother picked up the remote and hit the pause button so we wouldn't miss anything. I pulled myself up from the plush couch, disappointment growing on me since I had hoped not to be interrupted until dinner was ready. Well, I guess I could let the disappointment wither away since it's Taco Tuesday, my favourite. I chuckled to myself as my feet reached the next level above the main floor and headed down the open hallway to my room.
My laughter died out upon seeing my seven school uniforms, five that were the regular female uniform and two that were gym uniforms. Unlike most students, I didn't like the idea of having to wash my uniform every day, so to make things simpler, I paid for six more with my own money. It was a bit irritating, using the money I earned from my summer job for this instead of getting something else. Still, my practical choice, so I didn't necessarily have to worry about my mom washing my uniform every night.
"Hhhhhh, why does school have to come back so soon?" I asked myself as I picked up one of the uniforms.
The uniform wasn't too special, a simple white blouse, a blue skirt, a blue jacket, and a blue & black striped tie. Students could decide if we wanted to wear tights, leggings, or shorts underneath the skirt as long as it was black or white. I wore leggings unless it was summer which I then wear shorts and knee-high socks. There are those girls that only wear thigh-high socks and panties under their skirt to which my nerd brain questions why. 'Course that's their choice, have fun with your ass cold.
A Discord ringtone made me resurface from my pond of inner thoughts. Becoming aware of my surroundings, I realized my friends Meri-chan and Kamida were calling on the Discord group chat we had. I could tell by the laptop I had open on my desk. I quickly put the uniform I had in hand on the rack with the others before sliding over and clicking the answer button that popped up.
"Yo, what's up nerds."
"Hey I'm not a nerd," Meri-chan protested. "I'm a cool kid."
"Meri-chan, we're all nerds here," Kamida stated before greeting me. "Hey [n/n], how you doing?"
"Eh, good I suppose but I could be doing better, Kami," I answered simply. "How's life?"
"Pretty chill but I got bored, so I decided to call you guys."
"Well, I'm just putting my uniforms away," I informed them and went to put the last uniform away.
"I sometimes forget that you have more than one," Meri-chan commented before I heard her gasp. "Hey, how 'bout we hang out tomorrow, we only have so many days before we have to go back to school."
"Oh, don't remind me," I groaned, hanging my head, then went back to putting the uniform on the hanger and walking over to the closet, hanging it up with the rest.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea Meri-chan, we could hang out tomorrow," Kamida suggested.
"I'm down," Meri-chan quickly responded.
"Welllllll..." I hesitated, sitting down in the [f/c] spinning chair in front of the desk.
"[Name]."
"You see, I kinda want to stay inside my last few days..."
"[n/nnnnn]!" Meri-chan whined.
"Come on [Name], you know you can't stay cooped up inside forever," Kamida reminded me.
"I know," I grumbled, leaning back in my seat. "Fine, I'll come out tomorrow, but it's going to be after 2."
"2 am, geez [n/n] I didn't know you'd be willing to come out that early," Kamida joked.
"I meant 2 pm," I corrected.
"Okay," he chuckled as Meri-chan pipped in.
"But if you're late again, you're buying lunch this time."
"Okay, bet, but what if I'm not?" I inquired, my fingers tapping on my desk.
"Mmmmmmm," she hummed, seemingly to be thinking.
"It's fine I'll pay for lunch tomorrow."
"Alright, but don't use it as an excuse to be late."
"I won't," I reassured her. "Anyway, I'm gonna go watch a few more episodes of Code Geass with my bro-"
"You still need to watch Dragon Ball Z," Kamida interrupted.
"And you need to watch Juuni Taisen," I countered, emphasizing the "you".
"Yeah, yeah," he brushed it off. "Anyway, go have fun with your bro. We'll call again later on tonight."
"Alright, bye guys." I left the call and closed out of discord then proceeded to shut my laptop.
Kamida and Meri-chan were my two friends from school; we've known each other since childhood. 'Course Meri-chan isn't Meri-chan's real name, that's just a nickname Kamida and I gave her. Occasionally, they called me [n/n]-chan but not too often. Then there are times where we call Kamida, Kami-kun, but mainly Meri-chan does it out of spite since Kamida doesn't like it. Especially when Meri-chan does it in her kawaii voice. Those two are the only ones outside of family that have the same vibe I do, that's probably why we've been friends for so long.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, you guys ever wish fictional characters could become real?" I randomly asked out of the blue, staring up at the white ceiling as I waited for my friends over the call to answer my question.
"All the time," Meri-chan answered.
"We know simp," Kamida smugly commented.
"Nuuu!" Meri-chan pouted while Kamida and I laughed. "Hey, if anything [n/n] is the simp over here, she's the one actual crushing on the characters."
"Hey don't call me out like that."
"Ha! She doesn't deny it," Kamida jeered.
"Okay, what about you and Android 21?"
"Ack-" Kamida blurted before muting himself, causing me and Meri-chan to giggle. A few seconds pass by before he unmuted himself. "Why are you asking this question [n/n]?"
"No reason in particular-"
"Are you sure it's not you wanting to talk about Juuni Taisen?"
"No- it's not just that. I just think fictional characters would make reality interesting."
"Right..."
"Meri-chan if you could bring someone from Juuni Taisen to-"
"My boy Uuma! You should know this by now."
"Bruh-"
"Well, it's either that or Usagi, and I rather be alive thank you."
"Who's Uuma again?" Kamida inquired, not knowing who was who quite yet since he hasn't watched the Anime.
"Uuma is the warrior of the horse," I informed him.
"Right," Kamida mumbled before letting out a yawn.
"You sound tired, go to sleep!" Meri-chan told Kamida.
"No, you go to sleep."
"Guys, we're all on the same timezone. If one of us goes to sleep then we all do," I stated. "It makes sense since we're all planning on meeting up tomorrow."
"I guess we go to sleep," Meri-chan said bluntly.
"Yeah, alright, goodnight guys," Kamida yawned.
"Night."
"Night guys."
With that, we each left the call. I, however, didn't fall asleep right away. I woke up late and the night was still pretty early, so I opened up the Funimation app on my phone. Scrolling through the list of saved Anime, most of which were halfway through since my brother and I are watching them together, I came across Juuni Taisen.
"Why not..." I muttered to myself as my finger tapped on the Anime and went right to click on episode 7, In Like a Dragon, Out Like a Snake (Part 1).
By the time I finished episodes 7 and 8, it was 2 am when my eyes glanced at the clock in the top corner of my phone. Sighing to myself, I leaned over and snatched my charger off the nightstand, plugging it in the wall before connecting the other end to my phone. Turning off my phone, I placed it on the nightstand and snagged my sleep mask, putting that on my head.
As I laid there on my bed, silence flooded the room, not a sound to be heard but my own breathing. Vines of sorrow began to grow on me as the feeling of loneliness came over me. I tried to pull myself out of the emotion, turning over and wrapping my arms around the plain bodypillow in an attempt to comfort myself. In the end, it only helped slightly. It didn't erase the pain because I knew there were no arms that would hug me back. A tear escaped my eyes before I pulled my mask over them, and a final thought appeared in my mind before I entered the dream realm.
'I wish I wasn't alone...'
"Congratulations, Tatsumi {Ani|Otouto}, warrior of the {dragon|snake}!" Duodecuple exclaimed. "You are the winner of the 12th Juuni Taisen, everyone give yourself a hand!" The man started to applaud but soon stopped. "The antidote has settled in by now. You'll be fine."
{"Tch|Alright"} the Tatsumi brother simply responded.
"Now that you've won the Juuni Taisen, you can make one wish of your choice. Would you like to make your wish now, or would you like for it to be granted later?"
"In all honesty, when I arrived at the Juuni Taisen I wished for {nothing|money}, I didn't need anything else really but now that {I'm here|I had time to think about} I don't want to wish for {nothing|money}."
"Oh, do you have another wish in mind?" Duodecuple inquired the Tatsumi brother sitting in front of him, alone.
"Yeah... I wish me and my brother were never apart of the Juuni Taisen."
In My Reality | Chapter 2: A Dragon & A Snake In My Room
Hey, so I got the second chapter of this series finished. This time the reader will actually be interacting with the twins. I do apologize it took some time to get this chapter out but I hope you enjoy reading it.
(This is a Tatsumi Brothers x Reader)
"Ah-" I flinched, feeling ice-cold water splash onto my face, awakening me to reality. It wouldn't be the first time this happened but at least the other time the person who woke me only used a spray bottle. I sat up and wiped the water out of my face, blinking to adjust to the bright lights of the room. A few questions buzzed in the hive of my mind but one stood out from the rest.
'How did I get on the floor?' I questioned feeling the wooden surface beneath me.
"Good, you're awake," a familiar voice remarked.
"That's one way to get someone up," another recognizable voice commented.
I felt the confusion drain from me as panic poured into my system. Those voices were not from anyone that I knew from reality. My head snapped up to find who those voices belonged to, hoping I misheard things. My eyes met the sight of two tall twins, both with golden reptile eyes, lavender-coloured hair, and albino skin. As if their appearance wasn't a dead giveaway, the two were carrying tanks on their backs that had a hose attached to them. These were none other than the Tatsumi brothers.
"Holy shi- how did you get here?!" I blurted out scrambling back and bumping into the door, using it to help me slid up on my feet. Chains of fear kept me grounded and unable to move from where I stood.
"Oh, so you do talk?" Nagayuki asked jokingly.
"Of course I talk you little-" I stopped myself mid-sentence as I glanced them up and down, they were taller than what the wiki stated, and Nagayuki's holding the mug that was sitting on my nightstand. So that's how they woke me up. Wait- they were speaking English?! I shook my head and repeated my question. "How the fuck did you get here?! Answer my question!" 'Why am I like this? They could easily kill me!'
They both turned to each other, probably having a silent conversation. This gives me time to process the fact they're actually here, in reality, and in my room of all places. 'Why did it have to be in my room? Why not just in the shed in the backyard or a random closet downstairs? Wait, downstairs... I actually came up from downstairs to find these two in my room? It wasn't a dream?! Wait, does that mean my bracelet did break?'
"Uh- can you two wait here, I- uh- I'll be right back," I told them, stepping out of my room and closing the door before they turned around, knowing I probably wouldn't be able to move under their gaze. When I was alone in the hall, I felt a heavyweight lift off of my shoulders and a sigh of relief escaped from my mouth. "Alright, now to check my theory."
Stealthily, I crept down the stairs and made my way into the kitchen, navigating through the dark. Taking a peek inside the garbage, using my phone's flashlight, I discovered the remains of the bracelet I previously threw away. 'So it did break, and the Tatsumi brothers are here... holy shit that thing really did work!'  A victorious smile began to draw on my face.
"What are you looking for?"
"AH-!" I jumped and spun around to see a smirking Takeyasu who was just leaning over my shoulder. "Don't scare me like that!"
"How would you like to be scared?" he snickered.
I was about to retaliate when lights beamed into my eyes, making me hiss and block the brightness with my hands until my vision adjusted to it. I glanced over to the light switch, finding Nagayuki had discovered it and the one who turned the lights on.
"Kind of strange to be wondering the dark like that," the elder Tatsumi brother commented, folding his arms as he directed his icy gaze towards me.
"Look, do you know what time it is? Other people are trying to sleep," I stated in defence then turned off the flashlight and slipped my phone into a pocket before addressing them. "And why are you in the kitchen? I thought I told you two to wait back there."
"Yeah, but we were bored so we followed you here," Takeyasu answered. "Besides, aren't you supposed to be our roommate?"
"I...uh..."
I wasn't sure, am I supposed to be their roommate? I mean, wouldn't that make me the third wisher? Then that means everything in those three dreams happened for real! Wait, that meant they're gonna be living here. How am I-
"Hey, what are you doing?!" I whispered-yelled, seeing Nagayuki opening the pantry.
"Looking for a corpse, what's it look like I'm doing?" he sarcastically responded. "You got any chips in this place?"
I sighed, not wanting to deal with them roaming in my house, especially since my mom is asleep. Thankfully my bro isn't here so I don't have to try and explain this to him. 'How am I suppose to explain this to them when they do see the twins?' That's when an idea sparked into my mind.
"If I get you a bag of chips, will you come back to the room?" I offered.
If I manage to keep them in my room at all times then I won't have to explain anything. They already know what my room looks like and it's probably the only place I could hide them without worrying about them being discovered. I'm always in my room so no one's going to walk in there without me knowing so I'd have plenty of time to hide them beforehand.
"You think you can bargain me with a bag of chips?" Nagayuki questioned.
"How 'bout two?"
"Make it three and you got a deal."
"Alright then." I turned and opened the snack cupboard, going through the chip bags we have. "What flavours do you want? There's... original, all-dressed, salt 'n' vinegar, barbecue, buffalo, cheddar, dill pickle-"
"I'll take original, salt 'n' vinegar, and dill pickle."
'Of course, he chooses my favourite...' I gloomed in my mind, reluctantly grabbing the last bag before closing the cupboard. "Alright, let's go."
"So you're going to bargain with him but not me?" the younger Tsumita twin asked, not moving from his spot.
I stopped in my tracks and signed, turning to Takeyasu. "I'll let you hold a reptile."
"Deal!"
In a blink of an eye, he had disappeared upstairs. I stayed there for a few seconds, dumbfounded, I honestly didn't think that'd work. I turned to his brother standing next to me.
"Does he really love reptiles that much?" I inquired.
"Yeah, my brother has an entire blog about reptiles," Nagayuki told me. "Just be careful if it dies, he'll probably end up eating it."
'And I thought his obsession with reptiles was just something the fandom created.'
"Aren't you coming?" the elder twin asked, glancing back at me when he started up the stairs.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This is a plush reptile." Takeyasu deadpanned after I handed him my snake plushie.
"Still a reptile, just not a real one," I stated, leaning against the wall. "A deal's a deal."
"Aw man." He slouched in defeat, glancing over at his brother who contently munched on chips. The younger twin then plopped into the bean bag chair that sat next to my desk and his fuel tanks.
"Alright, now down to business." I glanced between the two before continuing. "There are other people living in this house, which I don't think will take finding out you're here all too well-"
"Then just kick them out."
"I can't just kick out my family!"
"Then why don't you get your own house?" Nagayuki suggested, taking a seat in my office chair.
"Because I go to school and I only went to work during the summer," I informed them. "I can't afford to pay bills, and even I could I don't want to leave my family, not until I graduate. Which is only six months from now, until then you're stuck hiding here."
"What do you mean hiding?" Takeyasu asked, casting a confused glance.
"Well, not only do you have to hide from my mom and brother, but you're sort of fictional characters in this world."
"Huh?!"
'Shit, was I not supposed to tell them they were fictional characters?'
"Uh- you guys probably know what Anime and Manga is, so you two are from a series and as from as everyone else knows, you're not supposed to be real-"
"Do you have any proof?"
'Of course, they want proof.'
I went over to my desk, picking up my laptop then sat down on my bed since Nagayuki was already sitting in my office chair. Opening up the device, I went on Funimation, clicked on episode 8 and fast forward to the scene of the last exchange between their two employers. I know they were both there for that scene and it's something that didn't show the zodiac war. Call it a hunch, but if what went on in those three dreams actually happened, then that meant they haven't been in the real Juuni Taisen yet. I don't want them to witness something they were spared from.
"Is this proof enough?" I turned the laptop to face them and pressed the play button.
Both of the twins leaned in, staring at the screen. Nagayuki was a bit skeptical of it, but Takeyasu genuinely seemed curious. I don't know what exactly they were expecting or thinking beforehand but their eyes expanded when they saw themselves come onto the scene. My cheeks blew up to keep in the laughter that wanted to escape.
"Wait that's us!" Takeyasu said in disbelief, pointing at the screen and looking at his brother with wide eyes.
"Pffft-" I couldn't hold it in any longer, laughter burst from me, overlapping the dialogue from the Anime. I fell back on my bed and wrapped my arms around my stomach, trying to stop but my brain didn't want to because it found this too amusing. The dumbfounded stares I got from the Tatsumi brothers didn't help the situation either.
"What did ya expect?" I asked, sitting up after my laughter died down. "Not show you a clip of yourselves?"
"So you were actually serious when you said we were from Anime in this world?" Nagayuki questioned glancing at the episode before looking back at me for confirmation.
"Yup," I replied, taking my laptop and pressing pause before the scene changed back to the courtroom. I don't know what would've happened if Takeyasu saw it but I wasn't willing to risk finding out.
"Well, who wouldn't want to see us, brother?" Takeyasu said, a smug smile drawing on his face.
"You're right, we probably have millions of fans," Nagayuki concluded, a smirk of his own appearing.
'Heh, if only they knew were from a 12 episode Anime with no season two,' I jokingly thought to myself as I closed off of Funimation and placed the laptop on my desk, shutting the device closed. 'Eh, I won't spoil it for them.'
"Alright, so now that you know you're fictional characters do you see why you need to hide?"
"No."
'Why was that not the answer I was expecting?' I deadpanned.
"If we're famous we could live the lives of movie stars-"
"You guys are fictional Anime characters, that's different from celebrities or other famous people," I stated, interrupting their wishful thinking. "Fans know people from live-action stuff are actors who are real people, but as for Anime characters, they're animated people who aren't supposed to be real. Despite our situation, fictional characters don't just magically appear here, so your existence isn't normal."
"Oh..."
I couldn't help but notice the visible wave of disappointment washing over them.
"Listen, I know you guys are wild cards but whatever you guys do I'll probably get dragged into it, and I'd rather not be stalked, interviewed, or experimented on," I say as I remembered that I was planning on being a famous author. I probably should reconsider my career path. "So for my sake can you please not get caught for existing, at least until I graduate."
"{Fine|Alright}..." the twins answered at the same time, dread dripping from their tones.
"Look if it makes you feel better, I could get you guys some disguises so you won't be cooped up in here all the time," I told them, and I was happy it made them liven up a bit at least. "But not until you've shown I can trust you not to do anything crazy, not to mention I still have to buy the disguises," I muttered the last bit to myself, unsure where I'd get that stuff or if I'd have enough money.
"What do you think we are, barbarians?" Takeyasu joked.
"You probably are," Nagayuki teased his brother.
"Hey!"
"I don't know what you are okay, that's why you need to earn my trust," I informed them, resting my forehead on the tips of my fingers. I then expected a sigh to escape from my lips but instead, a yawn came out, which means I'm tired, physically tired. I'm probably mentally drained too. "Alright, how 'bout we deal with the rest in the morning, I'm tired."
"Sounds like a good idea," Takeyasu agreed with me.
"One problem," Nagayuki said, getting my attention.
"What?" I reluctantly asked turning to them, my expression telling them 'Can't it wait until morning?'
"Where do we sleep?"
I blinked...
They blinked...
Then the realization hit me with a brick.'Where were they supposed to sleep?!' I didn't want to say the bed because that's where I sleep and wasn't going to share it either, that'd just make things awkward. Especially for whoever wakes up first, I didn't want to happen.
I know there's a guest bedroom, but there was a risk that mom or my brother would find them there. That also takes the couch downstairs out of the question. There were times where I fell asleep on the bean-bag-chair, but that was just a nap, not an entire eight hours, besides that could only fit one person. I know there's a futon in the gaming area that could fit in my room, but that means carrying it here which would cause noise that might wake up mom. So it is a solution, just not one for right now.
'Think, think, what are other ways? What did I do as a child when I wanted to sleep in front of the Christmas tree but not on the couch?' I know there was something but with my brain half asleep at this point it made things difficult to remember. 'What was- oh yeah!' I just slept on a comforter and pillow with blankets. 'Man, that's what I did? Kind of lame when I know other kids made pillow forts.'
Without a word, I slipped out of my room, heading to the closet in the hallway. Checking inside the place, I search for the items listed in my mind. One comforter, two pillows, two pillowcases... 'How many blankets will they need? I'll take three just to be safe.' Once I grabbed everything needed and stacked it in my arms, I left the closet and steadily made my way back to my room, doing my best to make sure it didn't fall over.
"A little help, please," I requested when I entered the room, ready to drop everything because of my tired state.
"Sure," I heard Nagayuki respond and the weight I was carrying lightened up.
"Ah, thank you." I look over to the elder twin to show my gratitude only to see he was flying. He was flying... 'You know what, I'm too tired to even question anything at this point.' With Nagayuki holding the blankets, I turned to Takeyasu and handed him the pillows and their cases. "Here hold this."
He appeared to be unamused while holding the pillows but at least he wasn't complaining. That out of the way, I began to set up their sleeping area next to my bed. The reason, why I did it like that, is because in the morning I could wake up and look over to see if they're actually there or not. I still have my doubts this is real, despite waking up to water splashed in my face, but if I see in the morning they're still here then I'll know for a thousand percent that it wasn't a dream.
"There," I proclaimed and stood up, showing them the result. "I know it's not much but it's only for one night. You'll get a proper sleeping place tomorrow."
"What's wrong with sleeping on the bed?" Takeyasu questioned, gesturing to it.
"Uh... that's... my bed..." I hesitantly answered, feeling my cheeks being lightly coloured blush.
"I don't know if you can tell but... uh... this is my room, and... this is sorta the only place where I hang around in so it's the only place where I can manage keeping tabs on you and not be questioned for it, at least not anytime soon," I explained to him and his brother.
"So you're an otaku?" Nagayuki bluntly put it.
"Yeah..." I sweatdropped now noticing how many Anime posters I had. 'Man am I now glad I couldn't find any Juuni Taisen posters.'
Nagayuki shrugged, showing he didn't care, his concern directed to the ice tank on his back and taking it off. He's probably going to place it down somewhere, I stopped paying attention when my form dragged myself over to turn the light switch off.
"You guys need the light because I'm ready to fall asleep," I yawned, my hand hovering over the switch.
"Nah, we're good," Takeyasu told me. Something about his tone made me think he might be up to something but in my sleepy state, I didn't care.
"Alright, goodnight." I flicked the lights off and walked to my bed, crawling into the sheets on the right side, not caring if I still was wearing my regular clothes. Sleep taking control, erasing all my thoughts and worries as I fell into dreamland.

(Third POV)
"This is not what I was expecting," Takeyasu said to his brother, glancing over to see Nagayuki wrapping his jacket around the icethrower. "We're out of that apartment and got a house but it's not like we can explore it."
"Well, we probably should've asked Duodecuple more questions before we got here but that's on us," the elder twin told younger as he took off his blue boots and gloves, setting them next to his jacket. "At least we don't have to take part in the Juuni Taisen, so why does it matter?"
"Since when did you become so content and optimist?" Takeyasu inquired finding his brother a bit out of character. Usually, he'd try to point out the obvious good side in their situation.
"Since my baby brother started to become pessimistic and unsatisfied," Nagayuki teased.
"Hey!"
Nagayuki snickered at his twin's childish attitude and ruffled Takeyasu's hair. He couldn't help but be grateful for this whole situation, if they weren't, there'd be a good chance one of them would be dead. So even if this place wasn't ideal, he still had his brother right in front of him, alive. That's all he could ask for, therefore he had no reason to complain.
"We should probably get some sleep bro," he said and turned to the makeshift bed on the floor, that's when he noticed extra folded blankets were on either side of the layout. "Looks like she gave us our own extra blanket."
"Did she really think we'd need them?"
"She probably got them just in case." Nagayuki picked up the one closest to him and began unravelling it.
Takeyasu rolled his eyes then glanced at the female snoozing in [f/c] blankets, snuggled up to the black pillow beside her. "Why does she even need that pillow?"
"Huh?" Nagayuki turned his gaze to where his brother stared. "I don't know, to be more comfortable," he guessed, his attention going back to the blankets. "Hey, mind if I take your extra blanket?"
"Nah, you take it, I'm going to sleep up here," Takeyasu told him, climbing onto the empty spot on the left side of the queen-sized bed.
"I don't think that's a good idea," Nagayuki blankly stated.
"I'm sure she won't mind," Takeyasu reassured. "It's a large bed."
"I'm sure she will," the elder one bet as he lied on the comforter on the floor, the back of his head resting in the palm of his hands as his eyes gaze up at the white ceiling.
The younger brother didn't hear his twin as he tried to shift in a comfy position but found it impossible since he felt smothered by the black pillow. Grumbling, he grabbed the squishy object and dropped it down next to where his brother laid.
"Takeyasu." Nagayuki's older brother tone now coming into play, displaying how he's warning his twin.
"Relax bro, she won't even notice it's gone."
"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you."
Those were the last words exchanged before the silence entered the room. Slowly, drawing the Tatsumi brothers into the realm of sleep. Any concerns or questions left their minds, letting them rest peacefully for the night.

([Name]'s POV)
I felt myself slowly gain consciousness when I sensed the warm glow of the sun on my eyes. Right, I forgot to put my eye mask on last night, frick. I briefly blinked, my hazy vision seeing the face of a sleepy Takeyasu.
'I must still be dreaming but at least it's a pleasant dream.' I smiled to myself as I rested my eyes closed. Wishing to enhance the illusion, my arms reached out to wrap themselves around the black pillow and I let out a content hum. However, when my arms slid around the object, the cushion resembled one of another person. I found it a bit strange considering this has never happened before, but my daze whispered for me not to care and started to pull me towards sleep.
"Huh?" I heard say Takeyasu, oddly sounding like it came from reality instead of my mind. Seconds of silence passed, making me believe I had only imagined things and found myself dozing off. Then I felt arms move around my torso and a hot breath purr into my ear. "I didn't know you wanted to be this close to me."
Jolting awake, my wide eyes saw Takeyasu was in fact there, deadly close to me.
"AHH-!" I panicked and pushed myself away, a bit too far because I felt the edge of the bed on my back. After realizing that, it was too late to do anything because gravity grabbed me, pulling my body down and dropping me onto the rug on the floor. "Ow..." I grunted sitting up. 'Geez, I almost hit my head against my nightstand.'  I thought grabbed my head to make sure I actually didn't do that.
"You alright?" Takeyasu asked sounding more confused than concerned. Of course, he'd- hey wait a minute!
"What are you doing in my bed-?! Woah, got up too fast..." I steadied myself, feeling a bit dizzy after hopping to my feet.
"I told you she'd mind," I heard Nagayuki yawn and stretch his arms.
"Well it sure seemed like she didn't mind a few seconds," Takeyasu told his twin, annoyed that his brother said the classic, "I told you-" gimmick.
"Oh?" Nagayuki glanced over at me for confirmation.
"That's because I didn't know you were there," I stated, biting the inside of my cheek. "And where is my black pillow?"
"He threw it down next to me," Nagayuki informed me, picking up the pillow.
'At least Nagayuki is being helpful-' Something vibrated in my pocket, not remembering what I put there, I pulled it out and saw it was my phone. 'Shoot, I forgot to charge this thing!'
I check to see it had 15% left and the current time was 9:17 am, which gave me enough time to have it alive and by my side until 2 if I rarely used it. I then click on the notification I received that vibrated my phone in the first place. It was a text from my bro.
"Hey, change of plans"
"Mom's picking me up so I won't
be home until 1"
"Cya then"
'Perfect, that gave me enough time to settle everything and make breakfast before they get home. I'll just keep my phone in case he texts me again.' I then slipped my phone into my pocket. The reason why I didn't text back is that it's rather early compared to when I actually wake up so it'd be strange if I sent him a message now. Turning my attention to the Tatsumi brothers, who seemed to be in the middle of bickering or some sort of conversation, I cleared my throat.
"Uh- who wants breakfast?"

In My Reality | Chapter 1: Dreams & Wishes
Yo, I finally finished the actual first chapter of this new series! I originally wanted to get this out within a week of the prologue’s release but this turned out to be longer than I imagined. All of my TLC went into this for the past three weeks, I haven’t felt this passionate for a project in a long time. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do! ^-^

"Geez [n/n], you look so tired," Kamida pointed out. "Did you get any sleep last night?"
"Yeah, I did," I told them before a yawn escaped my mouth. "Just not as much as I wanted."
The three of us were standing at one of the local bus stops that took us downtown. It was our usual meeting spot since it crossed paths with the sidewalks that led us to our houses. We were heading to the arcade, our pockets filled with coins and our phones. The two artists were awake and ready but I on the other hand wished I stayed in bed.
"Oh?" Kamida quirked a brow.
"Did you go to sleep when we ended the call?" Meri-chan questioned, narrowing her eyes at me. 'Course in my sleepy state, I wasn't bothered by her laser stare.
"No-"
"[Name]!"
"Look, I wasn't ready to fall asleep at the time. Can you blame me?" I asked only to receive a sigh for an answer. "I didn't stay up too late anyway-"
"When?"
"When what?"
"When do you go to sleep?" Meri-chan inquired, placing her hands on her hips.
'Playing the mom friend, are we now?' I thought to myself. 'At least I don't have to deal with the teasing wingman.'
"Around 2 in the morning," I mumbled.
"[Name]!"
"What did you even do during that time?" Kamida asked, saving me from Meri-chan's lecture.
"I just watched the twins' episodes from Juuni Taisen." I noticed Meri-chan was about to go on again so I added, "Hey, at least I didn't watch the entire series."
"That's not the point," Meri-chan stated. I just shrugged in response.
"You really love those two, don't you," Kamida asked me.
"Yup."
I lost track of how many times I rewatched their episodes long ago. While rewatching the entire Anime is great, I didn't have the patience to go through six other episodes before seeing my favourite twins. I then just kept replaying the twins' episodes, eventually losing track of how many times I did. It's just that every time I watch the two episodes, the more I felt I could understand them. It made them seem as if they were real, but the reality is that they're not and I have to remember that. That doesn't stop my dreams though, speaking of my dreams...
"You know, I had an unusual dream last night," I told my friends. "It wasn't like the rest of my dreams that were strange and went all over the place. This dream it... it was of the Tatsumi Brothers but- but it was alternate ending with them." I left out the description of what happened because it'd spoil the Anime for Kamida, and I didn't want to do that.
"What do you mean by 'alternate ending'?" Meri-chan inquired, raising a brow.
"Like it was the ending of Juuni Taisen but different," I answered. "It just- it looked so real! It felt like I was actually watching the Anime until I woke up. You get what I'm saying?"
"Ummm, no," Meri-chan responded, sounding puzzled.
"Really?" I deadpanned.
"I get what you're saying," Kamida piped, pushing his glasses up for the Anime effect. My brow raised in question as to what his next words would be. "You're saying you're obsessed with the two to the point you dream of them!" He stated, pointing an index finger at me.
"Ack-! No!"
"Relax [n/n]," Kamida laughed. "I'm just messing with ya."
"Ha ha..." I let out before another yawn escapes.
"Man, you really are tired."
"I think the dream took my energy," I theorized, rubbing my eyes to stay open. Just as the words left my mouth, we all caught a glimpse of the approaching city bus. I don't know if it was just me but the thing seemed to be taking its sweet time to get to the bus stop.
"It's okay, [Name]. You can take a nap on the bus," Meri-chan told me as the bus came to a stop. "We'll wake you up when we're at the stop near the arcade."
"Alright."
Following my friends, I stepped onto the bus. It wasn't crowded, which made sense considering most people were still working at 2 in the afternoon. Kamida found a set of seats for all of us and sat down, Meri-chan sat next to him, then I plopped down in the seat next to her. Adjusting my position to try and get comfortable enough to fall asleep, I tilted my head to the side and let my eyes fall shut. Soon enough, I had drifted into sleep.

"Is that thing any good?" Nagayuki asked his younger brother, watching him eat the deceased, cooked lizard.
"Yeah, it's awesome!" Takeyasu's sarcasm dripped with venom as his teeth tried to tear the scaled arm. "What do you think?"
The elder twin just blankly stared at his brother. Silence filled the air around them, but the sound of the younger twin eating his dead pet prevented the silence from taking over the scene. That was until the echo of a knock on their door emitted into their ears.
In sync, they both turned their attention to the door wondering who'd come to the door at this hour aside from a delivery man, but it wouldn't make sense for it to be a delivery man. Neither of them had ordered anything. The two gave each other a glance of uncertainty before Nagayuki let out a sigh, pinching the tip of his nose.
"I'll answer it," he stated as he approached the front door.
"Alright." Takeyasu reached over and grabbed his weapon, pulling it close for easy access, just in case.
The feeling around them pulled the twins towards the edge as eerie vines grew in the room. Masking his expression, Nagayuki slowly twisted the knob and partially opened the door. He briefly eyes the person standing on the other side.
It was a man with a top hat, grey hair tied back into a ponytail, facial hair, and the structure of his face made him seem elderly. He wore a black long coat with a grey scarf and white gloves. By this alone, the elder Tatsumi brother was able to tell this man dressed to blend into the shadows and meant business. Something else emitted from the man, it seemed to be supernatural. If it had been a normal person answering the door, they would've brushed the feeling off as if it was nothing because they don't believe in it, but Nagayuki knew the supernatural existed because he was living proof. That said, he grew cautious, thinking carefully of his next actions.
"Can I help you?" Nagayuki asked the man with a stoic face.
"I do believe this is the household of the Tatsumi brothers, Nagayuki and Takeyasu, if my sources are correct," the man spoke with an unreadable smile.
"So what if it is?"
"My name is Duodecuple," the man introduced himself. "I am from the Juuni Taisen organization."
Nagayuki raised a brow, suspicious of this mysterious person. When the head of the dragon and snake household explained how the Juuni Taisen contacted you the instructions of how to get to the location, they sent a letter in a red envelope with gold wax as its seal, and it was delivered through the mail. Why was this man here?
"Are you?" Nagayuki questioned. "Do you have any proof to back up that claim of yours?"
"I figured you would say something like that," Duodecuple said, his gloved-hand reached into his coat and pulled out a red envelope with a golden seal, handing it to Nagayuki.
Taking it from the man, the elder Tsumita twin opened the letter and thoroughly read the message written. Sure enough, this was legit. Glancing back at the man, still with a hint of suspicion, Nagayuki folded the letter and placed it back in the envelope before handing it back to him.
"Alright, so why are you here exactly? Last time I checked, you don't escort the warriors to the Juuni Taisen."
"While that is indeed true, I am here on the behave of a wish someone made. A wish that you and your brother wouldn't partake in the Juuni Taisen."
Takeyasu, who was listening to the conversation nearby, swung the door open and fired his weapon at the man. In his mind, that statement is something said before another person is killed. Not necessarily a threat, but even so it wasn't something to take lightly. He wasn't taking the risk of his brother being killed.
Nagayuki hardly had any time to react before his brother started burning the person in front of them. Part of him wanted to scold his brother for acting impulsively, but gratitude is the feeling that stirred inside him. He became unsettled after what the man said, and if it wasn't for Takeyasu, there was a chance the walls would've been stained with blood. However, he should stop his brother before they burn down the apartment building, he doesn't want to have to move again.
"Alright, that's enough, Takeyasu," Nagayuki told his twin, putting a hand on the younger one's shoulder. As the final remains of ember faded away after Takeyasu had stopped, both twins saw that no evidence was left behind of the man. "You really got him good..." Nagayuki stated, almost in disbelief.
"I do believe it is considered rude to try to kill someone before they finish what they are saying." Duodecuple's voice lurked behind them. The two flinched and spun around to discover the man standing there with no trail of smoke or ash on him as if he never had made contact with the fire. "But since you are warriors, I suppose that is an exception."
"I'd like to see you try and avoid this!"
"Wait-" Nagayuki tried to stop his brother from making any haste moves but his brother slithered quickly and tried to attack the old man with physical combat.
From the way the man never flinched and stood his ground, Nagayuki knew something was up. Sure enough, when Takeyasu struck he phased right through. Surprised by this, Takeyasu barely had time to recover and stumbled to catch himself. Once he steadied himself, he looked back to the elder man with narrowed eyes, growling.
"Now, now, I don't mean to bring any harm," Duodecuple reassured the two, holding up one of his gloved hands to gesture he meant no harm. "I am just here to fulfill a wish..." he paused for a brief moment to lower his hand. "Three wishes actually."
"Huh?" Both Tatsumi brothers spoke in sync, confused. Why would there be three wishes that involved them?
"By your tone, I am sure you are confused. I do not blame you however, even if you remembered your own wish you still would not know where the third one came from."
The twins' eyes glanced at each other before going back to the man. If they had made their wish and Duodecuple was here to grant it then that means they were already in the Juuni Taisen and won. What didn't make sense was how did they both win? Did something change where they could both win? If that was the case, why was Duodecuple here before the Juuni Taisen even started? Then there was still the third wish that didn't fit in the picture.
"Since it is not possible for the two of you to avoid the Juuni Taisen while in this plane of existence, our organizers thought it would be best to move you to another. And since the organizers are generous, they thought to grant another wish that would benefit both you and the wisher."
Once again, the Tatsumi brothers shared a look. Both unsure if there was a catch, and both having a lot of questions running through their minds. This entire situation seemed to be too good to be true then again, it was the Juuni Taisen. From what the twins heard, they made anything possible, the power they have is unimaginable.  Still, better to find out now.
"Is there anything else we should know about?" Nagayuki inquired.
"You will be living with the wisher," Duodecuple informed them. "As I said, it is a win-win situation. You will be informed of the new plane and you will have a new place to stay, it makes things more convenient."
"Alright, so we get our wish granted and a new roommate." Takeyasu turned his gaze to his brother, a smirk on his face. "It doesn't seem all that bad."
"I am glad to hear that. That being said, you have seven hours to pack everything you need before you are escorted to your new home," Duodecuple told them, taking off his hat and bowing. His form began to pixelate away until the air was the only thing that remained where the mysterious hologram once stood.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"[Name], wake up," Meri-chan whispered, nudging me awake. "We're here."
"Huh? Oh, right," I mumbled before a yawn escaped my mouth as I rose to my feet.
Once the three of us had walked off the bus, I stretched my stiff limbs. Satisfaction filled me as the musical sound of my bones cracking played through my ears. I was on that bus for too long, but if that meant I got more sleep, I didn't mind. However, I still wished I had been sleeping, for one I still felt like I needed more rest, and two, I wanted to continue the dream I had. It felt real like the one I dreamt the night before, just as if I was watching Juuni Taisen. I found it rather strange that twice in a row I had a dream like that.
"Feeling more awake now, [n/n]?" Kamida asked me.
"Kinda," I answered honestly before I drew a smirk on my face. "Awake enough to be able to beat you at Street Fighter!" I told him, poking his arm then picked up my feet and dashed towards the building.
"Oh no, you don't!" Kamida shouted, sprinting after me.
"Hey, no fair! You guys got a head start!" Meri-chan complained, following behind, trying to keep up.
'Course, it didn't take long before Kamida was running ahead of me, he had the height advance. Kamida is taller than both me and Meri-chan, and I am taller than Meri-chan which leaves her as the shortest out of our trio. That said, it was the order in which we all arrived at the arcade's main doors. Laughter emerged from us as we stumble at the front entrance.
"You guys are so slow," Kamida jeered.
"Yeah, yeah." I waved it off with a hand before strolling over and opening the door. "After you."
"As the wingman, I insist you go first," he stated holding the door open.
"Fine." I stepped into the world of entertainment and scanned the dark place where black and neon lights hung from. Only a few kids were here today, which means more gameplay for us! "Alright!" I thought out loud.
"Hey [n/n]-chan," Meri-chan addressed me, catching my attention. "Let's play a round of air hockey."
"Yeah- we can do our match later Kamida," I told him, still wanting to do that duel.
"Cool, I'll just be playing Space Invaders over here," he said before walking away.
"Alright, Meri-chan." My hand fished out a dollar from my pocket and inserted it in the coin slot, activating the machine. Taking the puck from the goal and placing it on the table, I put on my game face. "First to ten wins."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Aw man," I groaned, seeing my Pac-man die for 4th time playing this multiplayer game.
"You're off your game today," Kamida commented as his eyes focus on the screen, trying not to get eaten by Meri-chan's red Pac-man.
"Gee, I wonder what makes you think that." I playfully rolled my eyes, chuckling as I saw Kamida's blue Pac-man get eaten.
"Dang it!"
"Haha!" Meri-chan cheered in victory, throwing her hands in the air.
I felt a smile form on my face seeing my friends act the way they did, but my mind couldn't help but focus on the dreams I had earlier. They were stuck bouncing around my loop of thoughts, perhaps that's why I was off my game. Who can blame me though? It's not like I get these dreams every day so the fact they happen was a puzzle itself, maybe if they happened more often I wouldn't be so distracted.
"Well darn, it's 5:10." Meri-chan's statement caused me to get off my train of thought.
"Shoot, I'm supposed to be home by 6," I told them.
"And I'm supposed to be cooking dinner tonight for me and my little brother," Kamida grumbled as he dug into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
"Should we leave now and catch the next bus?" Meri-chan asked, her eyes looking at us after her phone was put back in her pocket.
"Yeah, the next bus arrives in 15 minutes," Kamida informed us, checking the bus schedule.
"Let's get going then," I said leading the way out of the arcade. Stepping outside after being inside that dim-lit building burned my eyes. My hands shot up to block the setting sun as I let out a snake-like hiss, taking a few steps back.
"Hhhhh, why couldn't it be night when we left?" Meri-chan complained, getting the same effect.
"I don't know, I don't control time," Kamida replied to her squinting his eyes to try and adjust back to the normal lighting. "Come on guys, we don't have much time before the bus gets to the stop."
"Right," I nodded, setting my hands in my jacket pockets after my eyes were used to the lighting, following the others.
"You guys wanna do this again tomorrow?" Meri-chan asked, starting conversation as we strolled to the bus stop.
"I already have stuff going on tomorrow," I lied. It's not that I didn't want to spend time with them, I just didn't want to go outside until I have to go back to school.
"And I'm going to be at my grandparents for the next three days. That's why I said we should hang out today," Kamida explained.
"Oh, that's alright. We can always voice chat at night," Meri-chan optimized.
"Yeah." A yawn escaped from my mouth once again. 'Man, I really do need sleep.'
"[n/n], you should take a nap when you get home."
"I will, I will," I grumbled. 'After I take a shower.'
I probably won't remember to take a nap when I get home, cause with showering and then dinner practically ready when I'm finished, the thought will be lost in my head. Not to mention my dreams are what have been occupying my mind. Usually, they don't, but I believe I'm still grasping onto them since I don't want them to slip away.
'What do the dreams mean?' It appeared too real to be just a normal dream but to call it a vision would absurd. Visions are stuff that happened, will happen, or a sort of warning, at least that's how it is in movies. The closest thing I ever get to a vision is the random flashes of deja vu I receive. Perhaps I'm overthinking this, maybe I'm just having proper dreams for once. Yeah, that's probably it, I-
"Whoa there, [n/n]!" Kamida grasped my hood to prevent me from walking any further.
"Huh?" I voiced, confused by his actions, I turned my head to him and gave him a "Why did you do that?" expression.
"We're at the bus stop, dummy," Meri-chan informed me.
"Oh, oops." I sweatdropped as I stood beside them.
"We're just in time too," Kamida pointed out as he watched the bus drive towards the stop.
One by one, we stepped onto the bus. I noticed the number of people taking this transportation has grown since it's at an hour where most people get off work, luckily there was still a three-seat row open for us. My legs took haste to snatch the spot before it could be in someone's possession, then I plopped down onto the window seat. By the time I had shifted into a comfortable yet civil sitting position, my friends had joined me. Kamida next to me and Meri-chan sitting on his other side.
Vines of silence grew around us so we didn't disturb anyone lurking in our surroundings. I wasn't phased by the lack of conversation, taking the opportunity to gaze at the modern buildings the bus drove by and dive further into the waters of my mind. Going through the catalogue of my memory, I searched for the recent dream I had and play it once I had found it. Something felt out of place in that dream, and it wasn't just because the scenario differed from the canon result of the flashback in episode 8 of Juuni Taisen. The fact Duodecuple stated he came to fulfill three wishes and not two didn't make sense.
If I connected the dots correctly, the first two wishes were Nagayuki and Takeyasu's wish to not partake in the Juuni Taisen, but then where did the third wish come from? Why would there be a third wish? Did I miss something in my first dream? Is it possible that if I slept a bit longer this morning I would've found out who made the third wish?
Multiple questions danced in my mind but they couldn't find any answers for them to waltz around with. After all, they were left in the mystic unknown, the only way they could return to the known land and find answers is if I returned to the dream realm, but there's no guarantee that it'll give me what I'm looking for. I highly doubt I'd be able to get another dream of the Tatsumi brothers again, my dreams have been generous enough to grant me two normal dreams in a row, I don't think they're going to give me a third. Still, it would be nice-
"[n/n], we're at our stop," Kamida informed me while waving a hand in front of my face.
"Uh-right... right," I responded and arose to my feet, following them out of the bus. Once outside, I brushed myself off, watching the bus drive out of view. Turning my attention to my friends, my hands set themselves in my jacket pockets. "So I guess I'll see you guys at school."
"{Yup|Yeah}," they answered at the same time.
"Alright, see ya then guys." I waved, beginning to stroll backwards in the direction of my house.
"Bye!"  Meri-chan exclaimed, waving.
"See ya." Kamida gave a small wave before turning and heading home.
I faced forward once we had disappeared in our path home, eyeing the slim light that emerged from the sun that is ready to be engulfed by the black night. My hand dug into my pocket and pulled out my phone, I needed to text my mom I was almost home. Turning on the device, I noticed I had two text messages, one from my mom and the other from my brother. I tapped on the notification and bypassed the lock screen to read the message my bro sent me.
"Hey, I'm going to a hangout at my friend's house.
Won't be back till morning"
"Looks like he made plans of his own," I thought out loud. "Guess that means no Code Geass tonight, but that also means I can rewatch Juuni Taisen." Drawing a smirk on my face, I chuckled before sending a response to my brother.
"Aight, cya tomorrow bro"
I waited for the message to load and confirm it was sent before tapping onto the text my mom sent.
"Just wanted to let you know your brother
is going over to his friend's place."
"Good to know."
"I'm almost home"
I turned off my phone once I had replied to her message, storing the device in my pocket. Mom always made sure to inform us whenever something came up, which I am grateful for. It helped me remember and keep track of things, they say "two heads are better than one" for a reason.
"Two heads..." I chuckled to myself when the Tsumita twins popped into my head once more. "Two heads that's been stuck in my mind all day."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I sat down in my office chair once I had finished drying my hair, dressed in a simple t-shirt and cargo pants. Opening my laptop I hopped onto docs and clicked the option open a new document. It had been a while since I had written anything, my search for inspiration had been harder than trying to find water in a desert, but with the two dreams I had, I thought I could use it for the idea of a plot. Fidgeting with my bracelet, I tried to construct a starter for the story in my mind, but I found myself unable to find my way around writer's block.
Glancing down at the accessory hugging my wrist as if I asked for ideas, I didn't have any other options since no one was here beside me. I would call or text Meri-chan or Kamida but I knew I'd be heading down soon for dinner. I found no point in inquiring if they could talk if I had to disappear. Funny enough, the bracelet only reminded me of the Tatsumi brothers. I laughed to myself, wondering what the twins would say if they were here, I found the idea amusing. I became tempted to tear the material on my wrist to make my greatest wish a reality, to see if they could become real once I did, but common sense popped my fantasy bubble. This wasn't some Anime where a game master could grant my wish, such fictional desires weren't possible for me to achieve, but I wish it was.
Something in my gut kicked me, flying my head out of that sad mindset I didn't know I fell into. My eyes went back to the blank doc I had open on my laptop. I felt a spark begin to flicker, attempting to get the fire of creativity going. My hands hovered over the keys, words on the tip of my fingers-
"[Name], dinner is ready," mom told me on the other side of my closed door she knocked on.
"Dah!" Frustrated, my arms flew up and mimicked the action of flipping a table before they slammed down on the edge of my desk. "Just when I had something..." I groaned and hung my head back. My mood shifted quickly, realizing some brain food would be good. "Coming mom."
As I arose from my chair, my bracelet seemed off, but when I checked it, everything appeared to be fine. I shrugged off my instinct, believing I was imagining things.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A yawn escaped my mouth after I heard the door to mom's room close, she went to bed since she had to work early. I was just chilling on the couch, my feet reclined up and any plans of writing had gone out the window once I had become one with the couch. I had the house somewhat to myself, considering my mom was now upstairs sleeping I couldn't do much.
I don't do things too exciting anyway, most times I just continued writing, or watch something on the tv which is what I'm doing now. Other times if my friends are available, I'd call them up and we'd discuss the fictional world. Then there was the rare occasion where I'd put on music and dance or vibe. It's relaxing me time.
Currently, Juuni Taisen played on the widescreen tv, already on the 11th episode. I don't know why, but it felt strange to watch it. I've seen these courses of events multiple times, each time understanding it more, why now do I receive this feeling? Perhaps the reason had to do with the dreams I had previously, with them appearing so real I guess coming back to what actually happened felt off to me. At least that was my thought process as I let out another yawn.
The 11th episode now halfway through and my eyes had begun to droop, feeling drowsy like Nezumi. The tv slowly turned into background noise when my tired mind began to pull me into the dream realm, my arms going limp to my sides as my eyes closed. The last audible thing I heard was Nezumi mentioning his 100 paths.
"Too bad my lizard died, I think he would've liked meeting a new face," Takeyasu remarked gazing at the empty reptile tank sitting on his shelf, taking a break from packing his duffle bags.
This all seemed surreal for Takeyasu, for months he was on edge and trying to distance himself from his brother so when they were in the Taisen it wouldn't be as painful to see him die, at least that was his thought process. It probably wouldn't have worked anyway, not when Nagayuki started to take the big brother role more seriously ever since they both found out one of them was going to die in the Juuni Taisen if the other were to win. Then this wish thing came along and now they're packing for their new life, it was a miracle this was happening. Part of Takeyasu imagined this is some cruel dream that he's in and reality is about to wake him up to see those red letters for him and his brother. He sure wished it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him.
"Hey, are you done packing?" Nagayuki questioned checking in, changed into his signature blue outfit.
"Almost, just gotta stash the rest of the money in there," the younger Tatsumi brother answered, going back to his task. "Do you think we can bring Hitokage and Yuki-onna?"
"I don't think that's the best idea, we don't know who our new roommate is going to be and what exactly they'll be okay with," Nagayuki stated, his hand grasping his chin as he began thinking out loud. "Normal people would probably freak out upon seeing two guys with a flamethrower and an icethrower. Still, if we have something to do with the third wish they must know who we are."
"Heh, I was just going to bring Hitokage anyway, regardless of your answer. You never know if we may need them."
Nagayuki rolled his eyes, knowing his brother would do something like that. His little bro had a point, however. They might need their weapons in this new place they're going, it'd probably give more use than the currency they were bringing with them. Both were unaware of where they were heading. Walking over, he looked inside one of Takeyasu's bags, small red rectangle boxes caught his eye and he picked one up.
"Really? You're taking your poker cards?"
"You say that like it's a question."
"Do you really need all of them?"
"Yeah, they're collector." Takeyasu stated his reason like it was obvious. The snake then cracked a smile. "At least I can reuse them unlike the bags of snacks you packed."
"Shut up." A faint blush appeared on Nagayuki's albino cheeks. "The flavours might not be available where we go, it's not like I'm going to eat them all in one go."
The little brother playfully snickered until the brief moment died down. A gentle silence sat between them, the only thing heard was Takeyasu stuffing items into the duffle bag. The elder Tatsumi brother glanced outside the room, considering if he should go check to see he had everything he needed and wasn't forgetting anything, but his bro caught his attention before he could decide.
"Hey..." Takeyasu started with a monotone, the mood in the room becoming heavy. That was a rare thing to happen among them, so he had his elder twin's full attention. "Did you ever think this would happen; Us not having to be apart of the Juuni Taisen?"
"I'm going to be honest with you, Takeyasu."
That was a phrase the younger Tsumita twin hadn't heard in a long time.
"I thought the Juuni Taisen was what our whole lives were leading up to, but I also thought the day would never come," Nagayuki spoke truthfully, his eyes gazed down at the floor. "I... just can't believe that it's not actually going to come, and how it never will..."
It grew quiet, the reality of what was happening finally settling in their minds. The reality neither of them was going to die. The reality neither of them had to kill the other. It was gone, the dark road was gone. They were free.
A laugh broke the silence, Nagayuki glance at his brother who had made the joyful sound.
"We don't have to play those bastards' game!" Takeyasu exclaimed, tackling his bro into a hug.
"Oof-" Nagayuki stumbled, not expecting the sudden embrace, but when he steadied himself he wrapped his arms around his baby brother. The burden of death has been lifted from their shoulders and they never felt more relieved. Tears of joy threatened to fall as the two hugged, knowing they wouldn't lose the other.
Before either could cry, an outsider cleared their throat. The moment now passed, the twins pulled away from the sibling hug to see Duodecuple there holding his hands behind his back.
"Are you both ready?" the man asked.
"Yeah, let me just get my bags," Nagayuki responded, moving past the elder man to get to his room.
Entering, the dragon went straight to retrieve the two duffle bags he packed. However, he ceased in his tracks when he turned to exit, spying the icethrower from the corner of his eye. He had originally planned to leave it, thinking it wasn't needed in his new life and unsure how their new roommate would feel about it, but since his little bro was taking his flamethrower what could it hurt to bring his weapon along?
"Besides, I don't I could get something like you out there, Yuki-onna," Nagayuki said, a smirk plastered on his face as he picked up the icethrower and put it on his back. He then grabbed his bags and left his now old room. Joining his brother's side in the main room, both face the mysterious man, holding their belongings.
"I hope you both are aware you are not heading to any warzones," Duodecuple told them, seeing how both Tatsumi brothers were carrying their weapons with them.
"Yeah, we know," Nagayuki stated blankly.
"But there's no way we're leaving these," Takeyasu added with a smug expression.
"I see." Duodecuple nodded, grabbing the rim of his top hat.
"So where are heading?" the elder Tatsumi brother asked.
"And how are we getting-"
Before the younger Tsumita twin could finish his question, Duodecuple had taken off his hat to bow, while doing so the brothers faded out of their reality.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"No!" I cried, reaching out to the two, only to face the actual screen in front of me. "Oh... it was just another dream," I muttered to myself, grasping my forehead with my right hand.
I'm surprised I actually was granted a third dream of the Tatsumi brothers. I expected my brain not to be so generous, not that I'm complaining, I'm grateful for it. I wished I knew what happened to them though, maybe I'll find out in the next dream. I could get used to having them on my mind as I sleep.
Returning to the reality before me, I saw the episode had finished a while ago. My hand went to pick up the phone that laid on the couch beside me to check the time, but when I did I noticed my bracelet had broken beyond repair. I quickly sat up, picking up the remains of the lime bracelet and the few beads that were once on it.
"Shit, how'd it break?" I questioned, examing the pieces. "It was fine an hour ago, wasn't it?" Shaking my head, I knew it had to throw it in the trash, it was useless now.
I reclined my spot on the couch back down and stuffed my phone in my pocket. Holding the bits of my broken bracelet, I strolled over to the trashcan in the kitchen and dropped them in there. I felt disappointed, I actually enjoyed wearing that bracelet. Not only was it a gift from one of my best friends but it was something that reminded me of the Tatsumi brothers.
"Oh well, objects can't last forever," I mumbled to myself, recalling the day our Wii console stopped reading discs, on New Year's Day too no less.
Catching a glimpse of the time set on the oven, I figured I should head upstairs to my room. If I stayed downstairs for too long and went up late in the night, I'd give mom broken sleep. Probably best I'd head there now anyway if I wanted to get any writing done.
Going up the steps silently so I wouldn't disturb mom, headed to the next floor. My mind was in a whirlwind of different thoughts, but they were put to a pause when I heard voices. At first, I concluded it was just mom talking in her sleep again, however, I crossed it off since they sounded male. My next assumption was my brother but that wouldn't make sense since he wasn't home. Before the scary sensation of the situation settled into my mindset, I had reached the floor and the semi-audio voices sounded familiar to me. With that in mind, I crept down the hallway towards the sound and I realized it was coming from my room.
'Why would it be my room of all places?' I questioned in my head. 'I don't have anything worth stealing!' I turned around to go and find something to use to defend myself but I never took another step because that's when their sentences became audible.
"Too bad we didn't have more time to pack, I would've liked to bring my desktop set up with me."
'No way...' I thought to myself, slowly twisting my head towards my door with wide eyes.
"Don't sweat it, bro. You got the USB, that's all that matters."
'No fucking way!'
I didn't even realize I moved down the hall until my hand felt the cool metal of the doorknob that opened the door to my room. My brain hardly processing my actions, I twisted the handle and pushed open the door. The sight before me I could barely believe.
There standing in my room, in their full warrior gear, were the Tatsumi brothers.
In the moment of me just staring at their backs, I forgot how to fucking breathe. Then Takeyasu was the first to turn to me.
"Hey bro, I think our roommate is here," he told his brother, his signature smirk on his face.
"Huh?" Nagayuki turning attention to me, his icy gaze settling on my skin. "I think you're right."
The expression of the younger twin changed to a semi-worried one. "Hey, are you okay?-"
I wasn't able to hear the rest of his words because all the weight that once was in my head disappeared. I saw my surroundings grow taller and tilt horizontally, but then I felt something solid collide with my back and my vision dissolved to black. I realized that I fainted from disbelief.
I mean, this couldn't have been real right? I was sleeping only moments ago and I woke up to this? No, no, this couldn't be real. I'm probably just dreaming, right? Yeah, that's what I'm doing, dreaming. I'm just dreaming. I'll wake up on the couch and see that it was only a dream.
