ohh yeah! i definitely am not shipping ted/trent “just because,” i ship them because it feels very compelling to me and i got the brainworms for them before season 3
in s1 and 2 alone, just the implications of trent being known for obliterating ppl on paper and rebecca essentially letting him loose on ted for that reason… all for trent to suddenly write the nicest article in probably,, ever?? her frustration reaction in her call with higgins is definitely underrated
AND THEN. ted’s relationship with the press room and how trent easily gets acclimated to his ways and he still doesn’t hold back the hard questions but he doesn’t do it to hurt him anymore, he enjoys the little nicknames ted gives him and even does. the fuckin. pompoms *\o/*
trent was lichhhrally the first person in richmond to fall for the lasso effect, and on paper you’d think he’d be the last!
and that’s not even getting me started on trent’s massive life change in s2 which was only fueled by ted, but i could honestly go all day and maybe i shouldn’t lol
anyway, i’m normal about them :)
EXACTLYYY EXACTLY EXACTLY!!!!!!! Trent Crimm, a journalist known for being brutal when it comes to writing articles, was baffled and turned upside down just because Ted is just a nice and honest man to him and it makes me giggle and kick my feet sooo much...
i think about that scene in 1x03 alot with the, "It ain't always easy, Trent, but neither is growing up without someone believing in you." i know so much that, that line struck with Trent heavily because of his own issues with his relationship with work, with his own father wanting him to be more stern and an actual football player, etc. and he immediately realized that oh god. this is an honest man that i don't want to ruin because he can change or break everything around richmond just because of how weirdly optimistic he is, and then proceeds to run outta that restaurant to contemplate his whole life LMAO
#LIKE ITS JUST!!! AAAHH!!! theres so much characters in the show that you could see get sooo swayed by the Lasso Way and its even more#tasty when it comes from characters that are made to be Stern. Take No Bullshit. I am a Brick Wall that CANNOT be torn down. like roy and#trent and its just SOOOO <3333 GAHHH#just that whole ''this is why it's hard to love you'' scene also makes me laugh SOSOSO MUCH#pn.ask#1x03 is on my mind again because. i rewatched s1 and GODDD EVERYONES DYNAMICS IN THE FIRST SEASON IS SOO GOOD everyones so bitchy i love it#<- literally the episode that made me go. oh? oh??? *HOMOSEXUAL BEAM*

Brothers (and Sisters) In Arms | Hawkeye Pierce One Shot
requested by: anon writer’s note: Hey, friend. I spent quite a while trying to work this out logistically. Based on Hawkeye’s age in the series, he couldn’t realistically have a teenage child, at least not one old enough to have made their way to a Korean warzone. I’ve therefore made the executive decision to give Hawkeye a little sister instead. I hope you enjoy this one just as much as what you requested!
You stretched and yawned as the jeep came to a stop. You felt as though you’d been on the road for days; in spite of the roughness of the road and the erratic nature of your driver, you’d managed to doze off for a bit.
But now you were here, at the 4077th MASH. Your brother was going to lose his mind when he saw you. And you couldn’t wait.
Corporal Klinger slung your bags over his shoulder, offering to drop them off in the nurses’ tent for you before directing you to the Head Nurse’s quarters. Hawkeye had told you about Major Houlihan in his letters. He had implied that he’d be interested in her… if she wasn’t such a hardass. Indeed, she had a reputation across the Korean theater for being a fierce, formidable woman. You were eager to work a woman of such strength, but you also couldn’t wait to help your brother pull off some epic pranks on her.
Major Houlihan turned out to be a bit different than you’d expected. It was clear that she wasn’t going to take any bullshit, but it was also apparent that she had the capacity to be very sweet to those she respected. But the way that she narrowed her eyes at you when you told her your name was Pierce… That told you in no uncertain terms that it was going to be that much harder to earn her respect.
When the major was through briefing you on her expectations and the procedures of the unit, she led you to the mess tent to meet some of the strange characters you’d be living and working with.
Hawkeye wasn’t there; he had been called away to assist someone in the neighboring village, but he was due back at any moment. But word quickly spread through the tent that Hawkeye Pierce’s little sister was in camp -- a complete surprise to everyone; you’d not told him you were coming -- and soon BJ and Klinger were hatching up a hasty plot that involved hiding you under a table and revealing you at just the right moment to give Hawkeye a proper heart attack.
BJ was visibly giddy as he spotted Hawkeye coming and shoved you under the table. The entire tent buzzed with excitement. Even the apparently stern Colonel Potter seemed to be enjoying himself. As Hawkeye reached the door, Klinger hushed everyone and dimmed the lights. Your brother’s confusion was allowed to hang in the air for about five seconds as BJ gave a hushed countdown before Klinger flipped the lights back on and the entire tent erupted with a cry of, “SURPRISE!”
“What the hell?” Hawkeye spluttered as his best friend dragged him to a strategically chosen place just in front of the table you were crouched under. “Beej, my birthday was over a month ago.”
“We know,” BJ said with the subtlest of winks in your direction. “It just took a while for your present to arrive.”
“Present?” Hawkeye questioned, putting his hands on his hips as you rather ungracefully extricated yourself from the table. “You already got me a present, remember? I mean, I still don’t know how you raised enough money to pay off my tab at Rosie’s, let alone the Officer’s Club, but…”
He trailed off as you casually flopped your arm onto his shoulder and leaned on him. He did a cartoonish double-take, and then an enormous grin split his face as he enveloped you in a hug. He lifted you up and spun you around as he laughed your name into your ear.
“What are you doing here?” he said, looking you up and down and taking in your uniform. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? Why didn’t Dad?!”
“Because, obviously, that wouldn’t have been nearly as fun,” you explained with exaggerated patience. “I got tired of hearing about all the excitement over here, and decided to join you,” you said as BJ ushered the two of you to a table and Corporal O’Reilly brought you coffee. “You paint a decent word-picture, big brother, but I had to see it for myself.”
You had already seen more than you expected; Hawkeye’s once pitch-black hair was now streaked with grey, and his eyes were more tired than you’d ever seen them. This war had aged him so much in such a short time. But you weren’t given much time to dwell on this.
The impromptu party began as “punch” -- a frightening but oddly tasty mixture of whatever everyone was stashing under their bunks -- was made and a record player was dragged in. You danced for hours, laughing until you cried and really getting to know the characters of Hawkeye’s letters home.
But it all came to a crashing halt as the sound of helicopter blades beating the air and wailing sirens tore the evening. Your new friends scattered, laughter instantly forgotten as duty and training kicked in. You made to follow the stream of staff out the door when Hawkeye’s hand on your shoulder stopped you.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this?” he asked, more serious than you’d ever thought possible.
“What does it matter now, Hawk?” you replied, taking his hand and pulling him toward the exit. “Those soldiers need me, ready or not.”
But Hawkeye hesitated again, and you turned back to face him again.
“Look, Ben,” you said, matching his solemnity now. “I spent the last year working in an ER in the biggest hospital in Bangor. I’m not the fresh-faced little girl I was when you left. I’ve held people’s hands as they’ve died. Hell, I’ve held their organs as they’ve died.”
A pained look crossed your brother’s face.
“No, I’m not ready,” you admitted. “But you told me once in a letter that you never get used to this place. And like I said, they need me now.”
A heavy pause hung in the air, and then Hawkeye nodded grimly and nodded toward the door.
And so, you launched yourself into the Hell you’d only read about, hand in hand with your big brother.
