My review for Thunderbolts*

Thunderbolts* shines because it isn’t afraid to sit with the darkness. It embraces themes of emptiness, trauma, and inner pain, grounding its characters in past wounds that shape who they are. Each member of the team is haunted by regret, loss, and a sense of not belonging, and the film brings those struggles to life in a raw, honest way. This isn’t the typical ex former Avengers superhero story—it’s a look at the emotional toll of being a hero and the burden of simply trying to survive. Its imperfections and grit reflect the flawed, complex team at its center.

A major highlight is Sentry, with Lewis Pullman delivering a quietly powerful performance. He captures the inner conflict of a man torn between light and darkness, making his battle with mental illness feel both real and heartfelt. His portrayal stays true to how the character is depicted in the comics.

Although it’s a team-up film, Florence Pugh emerges as the emotional anchor. Her performance carries the soul of the film, digging deep into the pain and strength of someone trying to piece themselves back together. David Harbour, as always, brings his trademark charm as Red Guardian, while Wyatt Russell still carries a sense of integrity and honor in him as US Agent.

Thunderbolts* might be one of Marvel’s darkest chapters yet, but it finds humanity in the broken parts, offering connection in the midst of the void. It’s refreshingly anti-Marvel in the best, smart sequence that focuses more on mental health than on excitement or action. And finally, An MCU film that truly shows heroes rescuing civilians; we’re so back.

The end credits absolutely slayed. My excitement for Avengers: Doomsday just shot through the roof!
